This sounds unbelievable but scientists are saying that the smelly fowl gas which comes out of your butt as you fart can cure several diseases, including cancer. So when next someone releases from the butt, no matter the sound or deadly smell, keep your nose close because the gas prevents cancer.

This is not a hoax. Scientists out of the University of Exeter believe that smelling farts actually prevents cancer, among other diseases.

“Although hydrogen sulfide gas”—produced when bacteria breaks down food—”is well known as a pungent, foul-smelling gas in rotten eggs and flatulence, it is naturally produced in the body and could in fact be a healthcare hero with significant implications for future therapies for a variety of diseases,” Dr. Mark Wood said in a university release.

Although the stinky gas can be noxious in large doses, scientists believe that a whiff here and there has the power to reduce risks of cancer, strokes, heart attacks, arthritis, and dementia by preserving mitochondria.

Researchers are even coming up with their own compound to emulate the smell’s health benefits.

“We have exploited this natural process by making a compound, called AP39, which slowly delivers very small amounts of this gas specifically to the mitochondria,” Professor Matt Whiteman, of the University of Exeter Medical School said. “Our results indicate that if stressed cells are treated with AP39, mitochondria are protected and cells stay alive.”

A man left his neighbours stunned after he climbed atop a very high tower in an apparent suicide attempt after fighting with his wife.

People in the neighbourhood were shocked when the man dashed out of his house, ran to the tower and quickly climbed to the last point, immediately after fighting with his wife.

The incident took place in Delhi, India, on Friday, March 9. The 40-year-old man went up the tower at Barakhamba Road in the Capital.

The man climbed the tower to jump from there after he had a fight with his wife, according to Delhi Police.

The 40-year-old man was identified as Nabisar who is a resident of Tughlakabad.
He is believed to be mentally disturbed.

The fight between the husband and wife led to Nabisar climbing the tower but four hours later, the 40-year-old was coaxed to come down by a couple of other women.

A Dutch firm has unveiled the world’s first flying car that you can buy at the Geneva International Motor Show in Switzerland.

The vehicle is called the PAL-V 1 (Personal Air and Landing Vehicle).

Dutch firm PAL-V revealed its final production model Tuesday and is now taking pre-orders for the car/aircraft on its website.

PAL-V said the first delivery will be made in 2019 once the production model has received final safety certifications.

The firm claims the two-person vehicle has a top road speed of about 100 miles per hour (mph) while it can reach 112 mph in the air. With a maximum altitude of 11,000 feet, the air range is estimated to top out at around 350 miles.

Transforming from road to air isn’t quite as simple as pushing a button, requiring manual intervention, but Pal-V claims this can be done in less than 10 minutes.

The first limited edition model will retail at an expected 499,000 euros ($621,500) with only 90 available for sale. Thereafter a “Liberty Sport Edition” will be available for an expected price of 299,000 euros.
Flying lessons are included in the price and the company’s website is taking orders tied to hefty non-refundable reservation fees.

A Nigerian man identified as Chief Sir Dr. Man Pass Man, seems not to bother about the nature of his business as a native Doctor and is using his Keke to let the public know how powerful he is. While people were putting ash on just a spot on their foreheads to mark Ash Wednesday, two students of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University decided to express extra sorrow with the hope of getting the lion’s share of forgiveness and blessings.

Drama started when the two students, a male and female student, were spotted moving around the school environ with their entire face painted black with ash. It was gathered that one of them said their sins were excess so they wanted extra attention from God!

Trailer Crushes Road User’s Head At Police Checkpoint in Benin, Angry Mob Sets Police Van on Fire
A social media user posted these pictures of an incident that took place this morning along Igun Road, Benin, Edo State, Nigeria. The social media user alleged that police men at a checkpoint caused the death of a motorist after pushing him onto an oncoming trailer following an argument. The road motorist was said to have been unable to pay the bribe requested by the police officers. An angry mob that witnessed the incident set the police van at the scene on fire after the policemen ran away to avoid being battered.

Following the Ministry of Happiness and Marriage Fulfillment, including his insistence that many Nigerians were unhappy, Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has recommended that ‘Happiness 101’ be introduced as a course in tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

Okorocha said this in an interview with Vanguard newspapers while explaining the reason behind creation of Ministry of happiness in the state.

He suggested that “Happiness 101” should be introduced as a course in the country’s educational curriculum.

“I am elected governor to guarantee the happiness of the people. Even the American constitution was created for the pursuit of happiness.

“I have realised that 89 percent of Nigerians are not happy.

“The ministry of happiness is the number one ministry that every government in the world should establish before establishing any other ministry because it reflects the essence of life, the essence of government.

“Some went to research on it only to discover they have it in Dubai and other countries.

“Even my own type of happiness is more spiritual and in-depth than those ones.

“In fact, there should be a course in the primary, secondary and even university called Happiness.

Religion! Australian Probe Blames Celibacy Ban on Catholic Clergy for Child Abuse, Says Priests Should be Allowed to Marry, Some Confessions to Priests Should Be Reported to Police
An Australian inquiry into child abuse on Friday recommended that the Catholic Church lift its demand of celibacy from clergy and clarify the extent that the seal of the confession conceals evidence of child abuse.

Australia’s Royal Commission into Institution Responses to Child Sexual Abuse delivered its final 17-volume report and 189 recommendations following a wide-ranging investigation. Australia’s longest-running royal commission — which is the country’ highest form of inquiry — has been investigating since 2012 how the Catholic Church and other institutions responded to sexual abuse of children in Australia over 90 years.

The report heard the testimonies of more than 8,000 survivors of child sex abuse. Of those who were abused in religious institution, 62 percent were Catholics.

“We have concluded that there were catastrophic failures of leadership of Catholic Church authorities over many decades,” the report said.

Recommendations include that the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference request that the Vatican consider introducing voluntary celibacy for clergy.

The bishops’ body should also request clarity on whether information received in the confessional that a child has been sexually abused is covered by the seal of secrecy and whether absolution of a perpetrator should be withdrawn until the perpetrator confesses to police.

Catholic clerics who testified to the royal commission gave varying opinions about what if anything a priest could divulge about what was said in a confessional about child abuse.

The commission’s recommendations, which with interim reports total 409, include making failure to report child abuse a criminal offense. Clerics would not be exempt from being charged.

Pope Francis’s former finance minister, Cardinal George Pell, testified in a video link from the Vatican in 2016 about his time as a priest and bishop in Australia. Pell this year became the most senior Catholic official to face sex offense charges.

Through his lawyers, Pell has vowed to fight the charges of sexual assault offenses.

The commission found that the church’s responses to complaints and concerns about clerics in Australia were “remarkably and disturbingly similar.”

President of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference, Archbishop Denis Hart, said the commission “would have significant impact on the way the Catholic Church and others operate in Australia.”
He said the bishops would put to the Vatican the recommendations on celibacy and the confession.

“The seal of the confessional, or the relationship with God that’s carried through the priest and with the person, is inviolable. It can’t be broken,” Hart told reporters.

Hart apologized for the church failing children in the past.

Catholicism is the largest denomination in majority-Christian Australia.

A lorry driver watching pornography on his mobile phone while driving has killed a motorist when he veered onto the hard shoulder and crashed into his truck, a court heard.

Former soldier Felix Gillon has been jailed for eight years after being convicted of causing the death of Kerry Pemberton by dangerous driving on May 3 last year.

The 56-year-old had looked up “porn star candy love” just four minutes before the collision, and a further 25 webpages were accessed just after – including pornographic images and galleries.

Witnesses to the incident saw Gillon drift in and out of the hard shoulder between two and four times on the M69 southbound carriageway at around 3.13pm.
Gillon’s Scania vehicle then struck Mr Pemberton’s Iveco lorry, with the 55-year-old eventually being crushed against the safety barrier.

Mr Pemberton, of Birmingham, had survived the initial impact but was trapped under wreckage.

He was eventually freed by firefighters but died of a heart attack in the ambulance on the way to hospital.

Gillon had been spotted by an off-duty officer, throwing his phone away after the incident in order to dispose of the incriminating evidence.

The former Army sergeant, of Bedworth, Warks, was also disqualified from driving for eight years.

Mr Justice Haddon-Cave, sentencing at Leicester Crown Court, said: “You told a series of lies to seek to cover your tracks but the jury saw through it all.”

He said Gillon had “carefully, deliberately and surreptitiously” disposed of his phone after the incident.

The judge added: “You have privately expressed remorse but it would have been better demonstrated in criminal proceedings.”

In a victim impact statement, Mr Pemberton’s partner Cheryl, said: “His death has been the truly hardest time for all of us.

“I just sit and wait for him to come home every day and I am broken-hearted.

“Kerry brought me anything I wanted over the years. I miss the kiss I would get when he came home from work, the cuddles with his long, powerful arms and his smile.

“He was a very affectionate man and we all miss him dearly.”

More Fun for Less Privileged! COOU Mass Comm Students Celebrate Christmas at Orphanage

Students of Mass Communication Department, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), have set a great example by choosing to celebrate Christmas with the less privileged children at Divine Mercy Compassionate Orphanage Home Amawbia, Awka.

The event which took place on Sunday, December 10, was organised by the National Association of Mass Communication Students (NAMCOS), COOU chapter, led by Hon. Ben Orjiakor.

The students who turned out in great numbers chose to shower love on children at the orphanage by celebrating with them to let them know they are always remembered.

Several gifts were presented to the children. The event witnessed cutting of Christmas cake and dance session with the children.

This show of love has been hailed as a remarkable achievement for Hon. Orjiakor whose administration encouraged other mass communication students to remember the less privileged in this season of love.

A woman whose son is a drug addict begging for food in the street is pleading with people not to assist his son with money or food.

The woman, from Cardiff, said while people intend to do good by donating to her son, ‘you are actually making it more likely that he will die from his drug use.’

If people genuinely want to help those less fortunate than themselves they should give to specialist charities instead, she said.

Speaking in an anonymous interview with Wales Online, she said her son first began using drugs without her knowledge aged 13 when he was given cannabis.

Now aged 22, she said he has moved on to synthetic highs like MKAT and Spice, prescription drugs such as sleeping pills, and heroin.

While she has tried to offer him help, she said he will not acknowledge the extent of his problems and often refuses to speak with her.

The only time she can get through to him is while he is at rock bottom – without food or drugs or shelter – but the moment his short-term problems are fixed he shuts down again.

She said: ‘My son is a drug addict. Addicts need their fixes by the hour and day. They cannot think long term. They cannot face reality.

‘When you give my son clothes you are keeping him warm for that day and the next.

‘When you give my son food you are feeding him for that day and the next.

‘When you give my son money you are feeding his habit for that day and the next.
‘While you are all kindly meeting his short term fixes you are actually enabling my son to continue using drugs.

‘You are keeping the heat in his body and fuel in his tummy. This makes him feel good which then means that he can then go and take his drugs. Drug addicts have to hit rock bottom.’

There were more than 600 people believed to be sleeping rough in Wales according to government figures published back in February.

A separate report published in July showed a further 2,652 households were assessed as being homeless, with just over 1,000 of those given temporary housing.

Another 1,899 households were assessed as threatened with homelessness, with more than half given help to delay it by at least six months.

The problem of rough sleepers was most acute in Cardiff, where an estimated 313 were living on the streets, but only 168 spare beds were available.

It was indeed a graceful and memorable day as students of Igbariam, Priests, lecturers and individuals from various places stood at the entrance of the ETF Hall of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) to welcome his Eminent, Cardinal Francis Arinze.
The program of the day began with the holy mass which started at about 9.50 am with 12 priests present. In his homily the Eminent cardinal Arinze emphasized on the coming of Christ and the made ended at about 11:30 am which lead to the main business of the day which is the cardinals lecture.

Before the lecture of the cardinal, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Fidelis Okafor, was asked to come and give an opening remark and also welcome his Eminent. In the VC’s opening remark he said that it was indeed a blessing to the school as his Eminent Cardinal Arinze was the 3rd in rank after the Pope.

The cardinals lecture to the school was all wrapped up about success and how graduates should work for it. He said in his lecture that all graduates should try to possess the 4 virtues of cardinal,1. Prudence which guides judgment which leads to 2. Justice giving to God what belongs to God and human to human; that leads to 3. Fortitude being able to over come temptations and trials leading to 4. Temperance being able to realizes self control.
“No one should treat another human as inferior or ladder,” He said.

Call it local technology or hightech invention, Durojaye Kehinde Obasanjo has made a mark that requires attention. The Lagosian arrived Igbariam junction, by Onitsha-Awka express way yesterday (Tuesday), in what he called an aircraft which he said also moves on land and water. According to him, the invention has already been successfully tested on land and water; what remains was for it to fly.

“It took me two months to construct this air Craft single handedly. It has been tested and it can travel a long distance which I have proved by traveling from Lagos to Igbariam. I did not acquire any formal education to create air Craft and believe that Nigerians that acquired formal education can do better,” he said.

View: This is something encouraging. Those who would like to test-run the aircraft in the air with Durojaye should indicate interest so that neutral observers will join him to confirm it flies well.

Chairman of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Imo State Chapter, Bishop Maxwell Korie has lambasted Governor Rochas Okorocha for what he described as the governor’s failure to give priority to welfare of Imo people, but preferring to engage in occult activities.

Bishop Korie who is the General Overseer of Life Line Assembly Church with Headquarters in Aboha, Ohi, Owerri, accused the governor of planting occult altars at various roundabouts in the state capital with a view to achieving his spiritually demonic goals in the state.
The PFN state chairman made this known today (November 3) while receiving members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Imo State chapter who were in Life Line Assembly for a thanksgiving service to mark the end of 2017 edition of NUJ press week.

After the NUJ presented him with an Award of Excellence in Radio Evangelism, Bishop Korie who was still standing with the NUJ officials before the church congregation during an early morning service, thanked the press men for the award and suddenly exploded, condemning the developments in the state and telling the press men to go and say he said so.

“Carry my words as you go. The governor is destroying every roundabout in Owerri and planting occultic altars in them. He destroys existing roundabouts and builds his own after planting occultic altars in them. Look at the flyover that the last governor had done 60% of the work on, the governor cannot even finish it. Let him tell us one single 7 kilometer road that he has concluded and we will join him in commissioning it. We understand the President recently visited three states in the South East – Ebonyi, Enugu and Anambra but did not come to Imo State because there was no project for him to commission. Tell the governor to pay attention to the welfare of workers and pensioners. He destroyed the main market without providing alternative for those affected,” Bishop Korie said.

The Bishop warned that governor Okorocha should fulfill his mandate by leading a righteous life and providing good governance.

“I travelled to Ebonyi state recently and when we drove into Abakaliki I saw the flyovers and good roads and wept for Imo State. This is Ebonyi state that receives one of the least allocations from the Federal Government,” the Bishop added.

Medical staff of a hospital have abandoned an unconscious man brought into their hospital after they found a tattoo on his chest which said “Do Not Resuscitate”.

The man’s ‘do not resuscitate’ tattoo forced Miami emergency doctors to confront the ethical conflict between a patient’s wishes and a doctor’s duty, reports Daily Mail.

The 70-year-old man was unconscious and presumably drunk, given his elevated blood-alcohol level, when paramedics brought him to the emergency room.

His pulse slowed to a worrying rate, and the doctors decided to try to save him any way, but were getting no responses, according to a case study published in the New England Journal of Medicine.

After consulting with ethicists, the doctors decided to respect the man’s tattoo, but the quandary made them aware of the need for an updated system of tracking patients’ end of life wishes.

Paramedics brought the senior to the University of Miami hospital emergency room after finding him on the street.

The man had alcohol in his system and couldn’t be roused, but none of that was terribly unusual.

‘Unfortunately, we get a lot of that kind of patient at my hospital,’ says Dr Greg Holt, one of the doctors who treated the man.

The man’s tattoo was, however, unique enough to draw Dr Holt, who was the attending physician that night, and his entire team of eight down to the emergency to see what the fuss was all about.

The man had a signed ‘do not resuscitate’ on his chest, with a line under the ‘not’ for emphasis.

Tragedy struck in Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) yesterday when the Head of Department (HOD) of Statistics, Dr. Nwosu, C. A. collapsed and died in his car after attending the University Senate meeting held at the Uli campus of the institution.

Investigations revealed that Nwosu had dashed out from the Senate Chambers in Uli immediately the meeting ended at about 3.50pm. As he was leaving, another staff present at the meeting asked him where he was headed and the deceased said he wanted to get to his office that someone was waiting for him.

At the department, Nwosu was said to have entered his office and told one of the non-teaching staff still around that she could leave for the day. As the staff left the office, she decided to go back and find out what the HOD was still doing alone in the office only to find his lifeless body in his car. Some other reports said he vomited blood while passing out.

Nwosu washed rushed to a nearby hospital where he was confirmed dead.

As at the time of filing this report the University had yet to release a statement on the incident.
