Residents of Mbieri road area in Owerri, Imo state capital, are currently in trouble as the major road leading into their vicinity from works layout is about to be cut off by erosion. This is coming one week after people living at Trinity Street, Akwakuma in Owerri raised alarm over government’s lack of interest in tackling the gully erosion menace already destroying houses in the area. The Mbieri road erosion crisis began two years ago after former governor Rochas Okorocha’s contractors did a shoddy job that destroyed the drainage on the road without proper replacement. This led to devastation of the road by heavy flooding that ravages the area during rainy season. The situation has been like that since Okorocha’s government left office even after government officials visited the area during Emeka Ihedioha’s short stay in office. Governor Hope Uzodinma has yet to make any move to save the situation as heavy flooding continues to gradually erode the road. Residents of both areas, Mbieri Road by Works Lay out, and Trinity Street, Akwakuma are calling for governor Uzodinma’s assistance in addressing the situation before it gets worse. Smelling other people’s fart is not what most people would wish to do voluntarily. But different research findings have shown that smelling other people’s fart could be a very healthy addition to your routine. There are health benefits that you can get from doing so, among them is protection from cancer, stroke, heart attack and in fact aging. So you see, smelling other people’s fart is also an anti-aging therapy, according to one study. Here’s the story. A team of researchers from the University of Exeter, a public research university in Exeter, United Kingdom, has said that smelling of partner’s fart has the tendency of prolonging life and reducing the threat of some terminal diseases. “It is good for you to inhale your partner’s stinky farts as the gases in them can combat diseases,” say the researchers. The study, published in the journal Medicinal Chemistry Communications, analysed the impact of the gas hydrogen sulfide which humans produce in small amounts. Although it was found to be noxious in large doses, researchers discovered that cellular exposure to small amounts of the gas can prevent mitochondrial damage which has many health implications. Indian man kills wife with cobra, after failing earlier with viper, so he can marry his girlfriend The woman’s family had paid N9 million as dowry to this man’s family, given him a car and 100 gold coins, yet he wanted to marry another woman barely a couple of years into the marriage. In India, the woman’s family pays dowry (bride price) to groom’s family as cost of taking care of the bride. Sooraj, 27, decided to take a gruesome option out of the marriage and ended up in police net. Police in the southern state of Kerala, India, have arrested a man in Kerala who killed his wife by letting loose a cobra in her room. The man had attempted to kill her with a viper once before, the police said on Monday. The police said phone records showed Sooraj had been in contact with serpent handlers and had also watched snake videos on the internet. Sooraj got hold of a highly venomous Russell’s viper in March which bit his wife Uthra and left her in hospital for almost two months, police official Ashok Kumar said. Uthra was still recuperating at her parents’ house earlier this month when Sooraj obtained a cobra from a snake handler and threw it at his sleeping wife. A police statement said: ‘Sooraj stayed in the same room as Uthra as if nothing had happened. ‘He was going about his morning routine the next day when he was alerted by Uthra’s mother’s screams.’ It added: ‘They took her to the hospital where the doctor said she had died.’ Uthra’s parents became suspicious when Sooraj tried to secure ownership of his wife’s property just days after her death. Owerri residents flee as gully erosion threatens to ‘swallow’ their houses, cry for Gov. Uzodinma’s help (Photos/Video) These are not good times for residents of Trinity Street in Akwakuma area of Owerri, Imo State capital. In the next few days many of them will be homeless as a terrible gully erosion continues to devastate the street with the coming rains. Several buildings are already under threat of being swallowed by the deep gully erosion which is about 12 ft deep. Efforts by the neighbourhood residents to control the erosion have proved abortive as millions already spent on the site have literally gone down the drain. One of the residents of the area, Mr. Emma Ogu, told news men that the situation had gone beyond what communal effort could handle, as a result of which residents of the street were calling on Governor Hope Uzodinma’s government to come to their rescue. “Please we want the governor to come to our rescue. This is not what we can handle by ourselves. We have already spent millions here yet the problem has persisted. Our buildings are about to be cut off completely. We don’t know what else to do except call for assistance from the state government. We need help urgently,” he said. Again, woman begs for Hope Uzodinma’s help as heavy rain washes off her bungalow (photos & video) A woman in Owerri, Imo State capital has begged Governor Hope Uzodinma to come to her aid as heavy rains begin to wash off the foundation of her house. Mrs. Chinenye Okoma is experiencing untold traumatic times as she watches her building gradually collapse on her family. Okoma’s house has been under threat since June, 2019 when heavy flooding destroyed the drainage in front of her house after contractors engaged by former governor Rochas Okorocha did a shoddy job while constructing drainage system in the area. The contractors had removed the existing drainage claiming they planned to expand it only to do a shoddy job that left several buildings in Nwosu Estate, along Mbieri road, at the mercy of heavy flooding. Okoma who lives in the bungalow with her physically challenged husband and two children, called on the immediate past administration led by former governor Emeka Ihedioha to come to her aid but to no avail. She is currently pleading with Senator Uzodinma to help in saving her building as she had no place else to go. Woman addicted to Lip fillers has quadrupled the size of her lips with 17 injections Do what you love and love what you do. This popular saying seems to be what Andrea Ivanova is presently doing as she enjoys ballooning her lips to look the way she loves. Sounds bizarre but she is cool with it. Ms Ivanova who has quadrupled the size of her lips with injections says she’s not done growing her pout yet. The 22-year-old from Bulgaria, has had 17 lip injections – including two treatments in the last three months – but she hopes to have another one or two before the New Year. Ms Ivanova who studies German Philology at Sofia University, spends an average of £134 ($174.60) on each procedure and has lost track of exactly how much she’s spent, but she said it was worth every penny. Speaking in September, she said: “I like my lips now more than before. I feel very good and very happy with my new lips, because according to me with bigger lips I look prettier. “I have visited almost all clinics for aesthetic procedures in Sofia and I put in my lips almost all kinds of lips fillers. “I didn’t count the money for these procedures. I don’t know exactly how much money have I spent on my lips.” Ms Ivanova has more than 26,000 followers on Instagram and has received criticism online for her look, however, she said the negative comments have been outweighed by praise. She said: “I get thousands of messages of compliments on my lips and on my outfit, and on my vision and style every day from people all over the world." Update! Woman’s House Finally Begins to Crack Inside as She is Trapped by Lockdown in Owerri (Photos) A stitch in time, they say, saves nine. There is still time to avert the most disturbing tragedy that is likely to strike in Owerri Imo Sate, if only philanthropists or the state government can take prompt action to save a woman and her two children. Here’s the story. Tragedy is about to strike in Owerri, Imo State capital as a woman whose house has been hanging over a gully erosion site is about to experience her worst nightmare. The woman who lives in the collapsing house with her husband who is physically challenged and their two children, has been calling on the state government for help yet to no avail. She has been screaming for help since June 2019 when the gully erosion began to threaten her house but no help came from the government at that time. She took Massmediang into the house to see the extent of damage. What our correspondent saw was shocking and very scary. The house has started cracking from the inside. The dining area is about to fall off, and it’s definitely going to pull the roof along. The woman told Massmediang that the past government in the state had sent officials to see the level of damage done by the erosion but nothing was done; That was before the building started cracking as the rains began to fall this year. Today, with the partial lockdown and dusk to dawn curfew in Imo State, the woman and her family are in danger of getting trapped in the house once it collapses. “We have done our best to cry to the state government. Different media people have come here but nothing has been done,” she told Massmediang. “We are calling our state governor, Hope Uzodinma to come to our rescue. My husband is physically challenged. He has done his best but this one is beyond us. Please governor come and help us,” she added. The building is located at Nwosu Estate, off Works Lay Out, Owerri, Imo State. This might be an option many would like to go for but wouldn’t want to stay where someone is farting to check whether the pills actually work. This is the Rose-Scented Fart pill. An inventor claims his pills make your farts smell like roses or chocolate. They also come in ginger, violet, chocolate, and lily of the valley — and can be given to pets. Christian Poincheval, 69, said he got the idea while “at a table with friends after a copious meal when we nearly asphyxiated ourselves. “The gas wasn’t great for our table neighbours. Something had to be done about this. “You can disguise the sound of a fart but not the stench.” He began selling the pills as dietary supplements to locals before expanding his range to “add a touch of humour for any occasion”. Christian advises taking them a week before stinky guffs would be unacceptable. A powder version is available for dogs. The tablets are made from natural ingredients and sold by French company PilulePet for around $36 for a pack of 60. Father gives son hilarious haircut to make sure he doesn't sneak out during lockdown Various governments are currently imposing lockdown in their country as a way of preventing the spread of coronavirus disease. Philippine is one of the countries that have taken that measure to keep their citizens indoors during the pandemic. It is easy for adults to obey the order and stay at home but not so for most kids, especially the stubborn ones. Well, a man in Philippine is not taking chances at all. So he came up with a hilarious move to keep his son indoors. The Filipino father came up with an ingenious but wacky way of keeping his young boy in the house during the recently issued lockdown due to the rapidly spreading Covid-19 pandemic. Last week, photos of a young boy crying his heart out and sporting a rather unusual hairdo went viral on Filipino social media, getting over 60,000 shares and thousands of comments. It turns out that the pictured boy had stubbornly refused the stay-at-home order, so his father had to come up with a way to convince him. Instead of scolding him or punishing him, he simply took a knife and gave him a rather humiliating “balding” haircut. A man in Kashmiri village, India, faked his death and travelled more than a hundred kilometres in an ambulance with four others in a desperate bid to circumvent India’s coronavirus lockdown and return home, police said on Wednesday (April 1). Mr Hakim Din was being treated for a minor head injury at a hospital in Jammu when an ambulance driver suggested the 70-year-old fake his death to get past checkpoints, police said. Mr Din and three other men wanted to return to Poonch, a far-flung region in Indian-administered Kashmir close to the de facto border with Pakistan. The region’s Superintendent of Police Ramesh Angral said the four men and the driver travelled more than 160 kilometres in the ambulance, passing many checkpoints using a fake death certificate from the hospital. “The ambulance was stopped at the last checkpoint before they could reach home,” Mr Angral told AFP. “A policeman there immediately figured out that the man lying covered inside the ambulance could not be dead.” India police is known to show extreme violence using sticks on those who break coronavirus lockdown rules. Fake News! Italians Are NOT Throwing Money Away, See Original Source of Misleading Photos The coronavirus virus scourge ravaging most parts of the world is creating an atmosphere for fake news peddlers to thrive. This is why it is very important that you fact-check and cross-check whatever information you get especially from social media sources before sharing, in order not to further create panic. There’s a story currently buzzing the internet indicating that Italians are throwing their money away because they think it is of no use amidst the high number of COVID-19 related deaths in their country. That story has turned out to be complete fake news, probably concocted by desperate bloggers for traffic, especially now that most people are indoors, mostly browsing the internet. Fact check by reliable platforms has revealed the original source of the photos used in that fake story. With the number of dead and infected due to coronavirus rising by the hour in Italy, a pair of images showing currency notes littered all around is going viral on social media with the claim that Italians are throwing their money on the streets as it is useless to them now. Facebook user “Manish Dhawan” shared the images and wrote a caption in Hindi which translates to, “Italians threw their money on the streets. They say it’s of no use to them now…” India Today Anti Fake News War Room (AFWA) has found the claim along with the pictures to be misleading. The one-year-old pictures are from Venezuela. The misleading post has been circulating like wildfire on social media. With the help of reverse search, we found that these pictures are available on the Internet since March 2019, several months before the coronavirus outbreak. Ogun State Govt. Threatens to Arrest Parents Giving Their Children Sanitizers to Drink Ogun State Government has threatened to arrest parents giving their children hand sanitizers to drink as a way of protecting the kids from coronavirus infection. Radio Nigeria had earlier reported that some parents in Ogun State were giving their children hand sanitizers to drink as a way of preventing coronavirus infection. The report which was given by radio Nigeria correspondent in Ogun state, Wale Oluokun, during the 7am news today Wednesday, April 1, had it that the information came from the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, who lamented that some parents were taking that dangerous measure in the state due to lack of ignorance. Further investigations by Massmediang revealed that the Dr. Coker had made the information known to journalists during a briefing, adding that it was a disturbing development in the state largely due to ignorance. She urged parents to desist from that act as it was detrimental to the health of children, adding that parents who continued to indulge in the act would be arrested. A little enlightenment Research shows that hand sanitizer content is dangerous to health. Hand sanitizer contains isopropyl alcohol which is toxic and will damage the nervous system and internal organs of anyone who drinks it. Possible effects may include blindness, brain damage, and kidney and liver damage. These effects may be permanent. It is also possible to die from drinking this chemical. Different kinds of alcohol (isopropyl, ethyl or others) could be used in different sanitizers but no matter the type used, alcohol in hand sanitizer is not in drinkable form so it is dangerous to health. Imo state government is planning to set up state-of-the-art isolation centers across the state as the COVID-19 scourge continues to spread across the country. No isolation center exists in the state presently. There is also no confirmed case of coronavirus infection in the state. Speaking on a radio programme on Darling FM Owerri today, Tuesday, March 30, member of the state task force on COVID-19, Dr. Dunga Kingsley, confirmed that the state was about to set up well-equipped isolation centers, adding that what the state has presently is treatment centers. Dr. Kingsley who is also the state chairman of Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists in Nigeria, said “Imo State has enough structures to do that (set up isolation centers). We are just making sure the necessary paraphernalia is in place. Having seen the way things are unfolding, I think it is necessary that things are done and government is doing something.” Callers on the programme expressed outrage that the Government of Senator Hope Uzodinma had not yet established isolation centers in the state even as coronavirus cases are spreading in other parts of the country. One caller said: “how can they still be planning to set up isolation centers by this time? Are they waiting for the virus to come in before they do that?” Another caller said the COVID-19 task force in the state should be disbanded because what is happening shows it has failed. The COVID-19 task force in Imo State is led by Prof. Maurice Iwu, former chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Recall that Massmediang had earlier reported that Federal Medical Center (FMC) Owerri was ready with well equipped isolation center. Whether the state government is aware of that is a big question that requires clear answer, as a member of the COVID-19 committee in the state has confirmed that there was no isolation center in the state, as government was still planning to set up such centers. COVID-19: FMC Owerri Debunks Allegations of Lack of Hand Gloves, Other Protective Equipment Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Federal Medical Center (FMC) Owerri, Dr. Jacy Achonu has debunked allegations that the medical center was not ready for COVID-19 outbreak, should cases begin to emerge in the state. Dr. Achonu said that the hospital was very ready to face the challenges, adding that FMC was working with Governor Hope Uzodinma’s administration to ensure that facilities were put in place to face the COVID-19 pandemic. Massmediang had gathered from sources that there were no hand gloves for doctors at FMC as a result of which a number of them abandoned their duty posts due to fear of getting infected with COVID-19 should patients start arriving. One of the doctors who spoke on the basis of anonymity to Massmediang said that several Doctors at the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Owerri have abandoned their duty posts due to lack protective wears amidst the COVID 19 pandemic. The source said doctors most of whom were working at the out-patient and other units of the hospital no longer show up in the hospital because they were afraid of contracting the coronavirus from patients since they don’t have protection. Only very few units at FMC such as the emergency unit are offering skeletal services. A medical doctor who spoke to Massmediang on the basis of anonymity said he was no longer going to work because he didn’t have hand gloves, not to talk of complete protective gear to work with. He said that since his own unit always had several patients coming on daily basis for other ailments, adding that without protection he could not guarantee his safety as he did not know who was already infected with the virus. “I asked for ordinary hand gloves, I couldn’t get from the hospital and you’re asking me to work. You are talking about complete protective gear and ventilator. I am saying I couldn’t get hand gloves. That’s how bad it is at FMC. Go there now you won’t see many Doctors. They are safe in their homes with their families. No one is leaving the house until this is over.” Another source said FMC was discharging patients and asking them to go home due to lack of facilities to tackle the impending COVID-19 challenge. But in an exclusive interview, the PRO of FMC, Dr. Achonu debunked the allegations as ranting of people who didn’t wish the hospital well. Dr. Achonu said she was surprised that now that FMC was working very hard to put facilities in place, some people were still interested in running the place down with false information, adding that there was no truth in all the allegations. According her, “Everybody is working. We even held a meeting with some of the consultants and HODs in FMC. They were suggesting that only the emergency unit should work like in some other hospitals. The management told them that it is not only the Covid-19 that kills people; that people have different illnesses that can cause sudden death apart from this outbreak. So, on that note we should be coming to work to attend to people, to attend to our patients. Somebody might have accident, somebody might be a BP (Blood Pressure) patient, somebody might have developed renal failure, and you tell them you shut down. So everybody in FMC is coming to work.” On the allegation that there were no hand gloves and other protective items at FMC, Dr. Achonu said: “A doctor told you that? Are you sure? Is the person our staff? If that person is FMC staff ask the person to show you his I.D. card. Come to FMC and assess what you see on ground. We have all those things. They (doctors) sign it every morning. People are here working and others are trying to discredit FMC. It is wrong now. Some people take joy in discrediting others and that is very bad. “Even the state government in Imo says they are ready. It is FMC they’re looking up to. We work with them to ensure that the entire state is ready. So they (the sources that raised the allegations) didn’t tell you that we have specialists and consultants in FMC that are specialists in this area (disease prevention)?” Dr. Achonu further assured residents of the state that FMC was ready to face the COVID-19 outbreak, though no case has been recorded in the state yet. She also said health workers were getting ready to work round the clock to tackle the challenge, adding that management of FMC was taking necessary measures to get the hospital ready for suspected Covid-19 cases. “In a bid to keep Imo State free and safe from the virus, the State Government in conjunction with F.M.C, Owerri as the only federal tertiary health institution in the State has taken swift measures and ready to admit any case or suspected case of COVID-19 into its fully equipped isolation centre with satisfied healthcare professionals on standby. “It’s our desire that the State would remain Covid-19 free not withstanding the proactive facilities put in place.” Dr. Achonu also called on members of the public to adhere to preventive measures in order to stay safe from the coronavirus pandemic. “It is also advisable for members of the public to abide by the lay down preventive measures to enable us come out of the challenging period. Stay safe and remember to do the following: Wash your hands regularly with soap and apply hand sanitizer; Avoid close contact and social gathering; Better stay in indoors for now; Ensure good cough etiquette and spitting in the public; and Call our Covid-19 taskforce emergency number in case of any suspected case.” See https://massmediang.com/covid-19-fmc-owerri-debunks-allegations-of-lack-of-hand-gloves-other-protective-equipment/

As different states in Nigeria continue to record cases of coronavirus infection, various governments are getting ready by putting health facilities in place to face the challenge. Imo State Government is working with the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Owerri with a view to ensuring that material and human resources are put together to tackle coronavirus incidents. No case of coronavirus infection has been recorded in the state. A well-equipped Isolation Center has been set up at FMC, Owerri in readiness for the Covid-19 cases. Public Relations Officer (PRO) of FMC, Dr. Jacy Achonu, told Massmediang in an exclusive interview that the hospital was working with Governor Hope Uzodinma’s administration to get the state ready for cases of Covid-19, if they come up in the state. Dr. Achonu also said health workers were getting ready to work round the clock to tackle the challenge, adding that management of FMC was taking necessary measures to get the hospital ready for suspected Covid-19 cases. With increasing cases and deaths over Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, there’s a lot of misinformation circulating about the issue. This ranges from unfounded preventing measures and even cures. But experts have pointed out that a number of these purported measures are actually false. With the cases growing in Nigeria and several state governments adopting stringent measures to curb the spread of the disease, the misinformation has continued to grow. Here are some of those myths about coronavirus which are not actually true. 1. A vaccine to cure COVID-19 is available. This is false. There is no vaccine for the new coronavirus presently. Though scientists are already working on vaccines, the developing a vaccine that is safe and effective in human beings will take many months. 2. You may have heard that you can protect yourself from COVID-19 by doing the following: swallowing or gargling your mouth and throat with bleach, taking acetic acid or steroids, or using essential oils, salt water, ethanol or other substances. None of these recommendations is true. None of them can protect you from getting COVID-19. In fact, some of these practices may be dangerous. 3. The new coronavirus was deliberately created or released by people. This is also false. There no evidence yet to prove this hypothesis. The truth is that viruses can change over time. 4. Ordering or buying products shipped from China will make a person sick. This is false. The truth is that for now, scientists have said that most viruses like this one do not stay alive for very long on surfaces, so it is not likely you would get COVID-19 from a package that was in transit for days or weeks. 5. A face mask will protect you from COVID-19. This is very untrue. The truth is that certain models of professional, tight-fitting respirators (such as the N95) can protect health care workers as they care for infected patients. 6. Drinking hot water with lemons will cure or prevent COVID-19 This is one very popular therapy on social media platforms allegedly attributed to ‘scientists’. It further claims that drinking hot water with lemons and sodium bicarbonate will “alkalize the immune system” and cure or prevent COVID-19. This claim is very false. One claim, attributed to a Chinese researcher, implores readers to “use as much natural vitamin C” as possible and suggests lemons as a good source. To that point, the post claims that regular consumption of a drink made from three lemon slices and hot water helps “against the spread of [COVID-19]” and “destroys the virus.” While vitamin C does play a role in several immune system functions, its use as a treatment to prevent or cure viral infections is unsupported by science, reports Snopes.com. Lemon and hot water used as a vitamin C therapy will not “kill” or “slow the spread” of COVID-19, nor would it provide a clinically significant amount of vitamin C to begin with. A buffered solution of hot lemon juice and sodium bicarbonate, similarly, will do nothing to change the pH of either your body or your immune system Snopes.com. For these reasons both lemon-related “cures” are rated “False.” 7. Can you get infected while having sex with infected person? This is actually not a fact except you engage in kissing. The virus isn’t considered a traditional sexually transmitted disease since it’s not spread via contact with genitals. But since it’s transmitted through respiratory droplets, kissing can spread it. How else is it spread? Coughing and sneezing and through close person-to-person contact that might transfer those droplets — i.e. if a sick person coughs or sneezes into their hand and then shakes yours, or from hugging and kissing an infected individual. It’s now believed the virus can also live on certain hard surfaces, such as plastic or stainless steel, for up to 72 hours. 8. You can’t catch coronavirus from your pet 9. Will the coronavirus pandemic end once warmer weather arrives? No, not at all. There’s no evidence to prove that the coronavirus pandemic will end with rising temperatures. 10. Over-the-counter meds won’t make COVID-19 symptoms worse You may have heard that OTC pain meds like ibuprofen or acetaminophen can make coronavirus worse, but the World Health Organization has debunked that notion and other medical experts agree. “That rumor just adds to the panic — there’s no scientific evidence to back it up,” says Dr. Dasgupta. 11. COVID-19 virus can be transmitted in areas with hot and humid climates From the evidence so far, the COVID-19 virus can be transmitted in ALL AREAS, including areas with hot and humid weather. Regardless of climate, adopt protective measures if you live in, or travel to an area reporting COVID-19. 12. Taking a hot bath does not prevent the new coronavirus disease Taking a hot bath will not prevent you from catching COVID-19. Your normal body temperature remains around 36.5°C to 37°C, regardless of the temperature of your bath or shower. 13. The new coronavirus CANNOT be transmitted through mosquito bites. To date there has been no information nor evidence to suggest that the new coronavirus could be transmitted by mosquitoes. The new coronavirus is a respiratory virus which spreads primarily through droplets generated when an infected person coughs or sneezes, or through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose. 14. Are hand dryers effective in killing the new coronavirus? No. Hand dryers are not effective in killing the 2019-nCoV. To protect yourself against the new coronavirus, you should frequently clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water. Once your hands are cleaned, you should dry them thoroughly by using paper towels or a warm air dryer. 15. Can an ultraviolet disinfection lamp kill the new coronavirus? UV lamps should not be used to sterilize hands or other areas of skin as UV radiation can cause skin irritation. 16. Can spraying alcohol or chlorine all over your body kill the new coronavirus? No. Spraying alcohol or chlorine all over your body will not kill viruses that have already entered your body. 17. Do vaccines against pneumonia protect you against the new coronavirus? No. Vaccines against pneumonia, such as pneumococcal vaccine and Haemophilus influenza type B (Hib) vaccine, do not provide protection against the new coronavirus. 18.Can regularly rinsing your nose with saline help prevent infection with the new coronavirus? No. There is no evidence that regularly rinsing the nose with saline has protected people from infection with the new coronavirus. 19. Can eating garlic help prevent infection with the new coronavirus? Garlic is a healthy food that may have some antimicrobial properties. However, there is no evidence from the current outbreak that eating garlic has protected people from the new coronavirus. 20. Are antibiotics effective in preventing and treating the new coronavirus? No, antibiotics do not work against viruses, only bacteria. 21. Does the new coronavirus affect older people, or are younger people also susceptible? Some people may have been capitalizing on the dreaded nature of Covid-19 coronavirus strain to make so much money by cajoling the public through several unproven safety means. Well, this seems not be working for a popular tele-evangelist. Here’s the story. A popular televangelist was recently issued a cease and desist order by the New York attorney general to stop promoting his cure-all product as a cure for the highly-contagious Covid-19 coronavirus strain. Rev. Jim Bakker has been had long been peddling his “Silver Solution” – a scientifically unproven medication made from the precious metal – as a cure for all sorts of ailments, but when he included the rapidly-spreading Covid-19 coronavirus strain to the list of curable diseases, authorities stepped in with a serious warning to him. Matter’s got bad as a result of Bakker’s February 12 TV show, where he asked one of his guests, a naturopathic doctor, if his Silver Solution, which is sold via his website, could do what doctors and scientists around the world have been struggling to do for over three months now – cure Covid-19. “It hasn’t been tested on this strain of the coronavirus, but it’s been tested on other strains of the coronavirus, and has been able to eliminate it within 12 hours. Totally eliminates it, kills it, deactivates it and then it boosts your immune system,” naturopath Sherrill Sellman answered, while Bakker interjected, “yeah, yeah”. A young Canadian man who tattooed most of his body, including his face, hands and legs bright blue, claims that the “whimsical element” has really helped him enjoy his life way more than before. Donnie Snider, a former forklift driver from Scarborough, in Canada’s Ontario region, started permanently coloring his body blue three years ago, and is now almost completely Smurf-like in color. It all started when he asked his sister to tattoo a part of his leg and foot with the bright blue hue; he liked it so much that he kept on turning part of his body blue, partly because of the psychological impact he experienced. If before he felt trapped by conformity and had a “lack of confidence”, the permanent makeover really gave him a big boost. Pharmaceutical companies are taking the quest to come up with Covid 19 vaccine to another level. Any company that gets vaccine or outright cure for this dreaded infection will rake in so much money so companies are ready to spend so much money to get the solution. But they need voluntarily patients to achieve that. Guess what they’re now doing – offering money to people who would be willing ‘guinea pigs’ for laboaratory tests. Reports have it that several companies as well as public sector organizations have reportedly begun offering volunteers up to $4,500 (about N2 million) to get infected with a form of the highly-contagious coronavirus to aid the search for a vaccine. It’s a tempting offer, especially for young, healthy and cash-strapped individuals, but there is a catch – they will be banned from contact with the outside world for at least two weeks. One of the companies in the UK called Hvivo runs a quarantine unit in a laboratory in east London where volunteers will be observed over a two week period. The Times reports that up to 24 people at a time will be paid to be infected with two strains of the coronavirus (0C43 and 229E), both of which can cause severe respiratory symptoms. “Drugs companies can get a very good idea within a few months of starting a vaccine study whether it’s working or not, using such a small sample of people,” said Andrew Catchpole, Hvivo’s chief scientist. https://massmediang.com/lab-in-london-offers-people-n2-million-to-get-voluntarily-infected-with-coronavirus/

It is difficult to anticipate suicide in most instances and this makes it a terribly dangerous menace in any society. What drives so many individuals to take their own lives remains a serious puzzle though depression is at the center of the probable cause, according to scholars and counselors. The fact is that a suicidal person is in so much pain that he or she can see no other option. Suicide is a desperate attempt to escape suffering that has become unbearable. An Indian man is so convinced President Trump is his “god,” he has a life-size statue as a shrine in his garden — and offers him daily prayers.
