Stories like this takes my mind to what we call asasi.. Why we look at some of these news as simple ...news. It begs the question. What prompt him to stab her? What was he thinking? Did he not know that his life would be entirely over? At the age of 40, not married, no kids, still single and now this...something tells me the family needs to check a curse or trace it. He could have gone to different countries and pick finer girls, successful ones, models too...and now it is all over. Something is definitely not right. This is why we have to be careful. Some have curses over their heads; some are walking corpses; some are destined to take others with them. May God help us all.

Every State needs a Governing Council. Yes, they will determine who governs and hold the Governors accountable...yes, they will serve as Kingmakers...and yes, they may share from the state resources...but you will get peace, continuity, agreed direction as to where the state is headed, and a system that actually creates checks and balances.

Right now, most Governors are not accountable to anyone. They wake up and decide who's business to demolish and who they need to deal with ..using state powers. They control the LGA Elections winning it all and putting their folks in power, that cannot say jack. Then control the Judiciary, so there are no checks and balances...the Govs pick their legislators and our only hope is after they are done with holding power...if we are lucky to get opposition to take control and investigate.

The current system is not working. EFCC cannot be in all places and ICPC cannot function without documents...the Civil Servants are crafted to do the bidding of the Govs as it currently stands, and the Govs divert resources for Elections regardless of the party. We need a different foolproof system. We need Governing Councils in all our States...for continuity, for progress just like the Olubadan. No drama...we all know who takes over when one dies. Look at Lagos GAC...hate or love it, you do not see major crisis and if it rears its head, it is quickly managed. No wonder Lagos remains the Gold Standard.

One of the biggest ways Govt can raise money is via Land Revenue. It is annual and should be affordable. It can generate great IGR and can guarantee revenues. If this is what Abia is studying from Lagos, this is a good thing. Just map each state into zones..some areas will be high tax rates based on estimated worth of properties...rural areas will be considered poor or low-income unless the houses are of great worth.

You collect taxes and use it to support the poor, build houses for ever increasing population, provide free mass-transits that support the poor and low income, and equip our hospitals, install CCTVs and create security stations to safeguard the cities. Nigerians do not need much, but we have leaders completely devoid of ideas. May Nigeria win

My opinion though.

These are some of the benefits of the tax reforms. Add yours...

2. Predictable planning and access to wealth
3. Increased borrowing power
4. Investment in infrastructures.
5. Reduction of money in the economy
6. Managing of Inflationary pressures
7. Increased Pay
8. Naira stability

Now, our projection is 4.4%. Increased revenue will boost our ability to grow the economy. I just pray they continue to work on these fundamentals. We still need enforcement ... so employers can pay minimum wages, policies around housing to increase investment in the sector and protect investments, so housing needs can match population growth.

You need to see the Army Barracks at Agodi GRA that is being renovated. It is amazing. We need to improve the welfare of our soldiers, so everyone would want to serve.
