The New Electoral Law forbids that. He will be a registered member of ADC, and all LP members would have been forwarded to INEC with Wards and Delegates selected. Court Upholds Nigerians’ Right to Film Police on Duty, Awards N7m D@mages for Rights Violation

The Federal High Court sitting in Warri, Delta State, has delivered a landmark ruling affirming that Nigerians have the constitutional right to record police officers while they carry out their duties in public.

Delivering judgment on Tuesday in suit number FHC/WR/CS/87/2025, Justice H. A. Nganjiwa held that police officers must wear visible name tags, display their force numbers, and must not harass, intimidate, arrest, or seize devices from citizens documenting their activities.

The court also awarded the applicant, Maxwell Uwaifo, N5 million in d@mages for the violation of his fundamental rights, alongside N2 million to cover litigation costs.

By granting all the reliefs sought, the court reinforced the right of Nigerians to freely document police actions in public spaces without fear of intimidation or retaliation.

Reacting to the ruling, Mr Uwaifo described the judgment as a major step forward for accountability.

“This judgement has significant implications for policing standards, civil liberties, and public accountability across Nigeria,” he said in a statement shared with newsmen on Tuesday.
“The court made far-reaching pronouncements on police accountability and citizens’ constitutional rights.”

The house sh felt was way too expensive for my kind of job to maintain, sh clarifies that payment of the first lump sum isn't the problem but the continuous payment years later.. so I told her I am a Daly pay earner and if sh can open a dedicated bank account where I will b paying her 2800 daily and be posting her payment receipt the sh will notice it will add up at year end provided sh doesn't touch the rent...... Accordingly, all affected officials are required to submit their formal resignation letters through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation not later than March 31, 2026.

President Tinubu emphasised that the measure is necessary to ensure full compliance with electoral laws, uphold transparency in the political process, and promote a level playing field for all aspirants ahead of the elections.

He urged all concerned officials to take note of this directive and ensure strict compliance, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and promoting credible electoral processes in Nigeria.

Abuja is working on it but not all saner climates have great public transport system. I have been to some parts of US where people still use Uber to get to the train, and the bus systems are limited. Same with Toronto, USA and so on...if the system was so good, people wont get cars given the cost implications involved. We carpool, we manage petrol and where we go in saner climates...and these saner climates have existed for over 200yrs by the way. Let us be guided.

Abuja does not have a proper public transport system within the metropolis, which ordinarily should connect residents and workers to Suleja, Mararaba, parts of Nasarrawa, Kogi and Kaduna. That way, living costs are better managed, and people live dignified lives.

Private car culture in a poor country like ours, without a solid credit finance system, does not augur well.

Looking at the building before collapse, it looks OK. Does not show any sign of distress. This is my own take. Lagos Land is shifting and will continue to shift given that Lagos is bounded by an Ocean. Some of these buildings need a steel framework. I believe buildings over 2 floors in Lagos should be mandated to have steel framework. If not, you may see more of these in the near future even for buildings that look good. You saw the newly constructed buildings bending and developing cracks within few years...that is the reality and compacting the sand is not enough. You cannot build something on nothing...sand is not ideal. You need a very deep foundation and steel framework.
