TravelRe: Ekiti Airport Runway Is World Class - Aviation Minister by MasterTeeUSA: 4:08pm On Jan 21, 2025
Airports are not just meant for planes to land carrying passengers. This is an Agro-Airport, so Ekiti must be planning to invest in Agriculture. Airports are also used for emergencies and the President would rather land in an airport than travel on the road from state to state. Every state ought to have an airport, but they should also have a plan of strategic advantage for what they want to use the airport for.

I am not sure why they had the water salute. My guess is - this is not the first plane landing at this airport but I stand corrected.

madridguy:
I disagree with Mr. Reno on this. It is obvious to every sane Nigerians that things like this will surely happen. Immediately the EFCC operatives started operating like the banned SARS anyone with a functioning brain will know someday casualty like this is bond to happen.

Years ago during the era of C.I.D, there used to be a man in our street who is a trafficker, he trafficked young fine girls to Europe, anytime the C.I.D are coming for the man, at times they dress like old people, while some will dress like refuse collector and they will be in our area for hours, anytime the man get is open they will go inside and raid them.

They will never shot a single bullet, infact some times the man boys will jump fence, run they won't because of that shot a single bullet. We always sees professionalism in the Nigeria Police of C.I.D teams in those days.

But now, we have seen series of video evidence of EFCC breaking into peoples home at midnight, beating the suspects, beating their wives and even injured them. A video circulated online months ago when they raided a hotel and they went into the manager's office, beating her and other ladies there and the most embarrassing things they even stole ladies wigs.... How do you expect the citizens to like you or support after watching all this...

You went for a midnight raid with just two officers, how can a two men officers went for a midnight raid? The EFCC chairman must coordinate his boys to avoid situation like this in the future.

I am not saying we should not take US assistance...I said we should be careful. We can look into the technology and how to prevent it. You can also create non-US systems to safeguard the infrastructure. My point - Do not put all your eggs in one basket. Every country wants strategic advantage, especially the Western nations. My point is - they don't usually give anything for free. I am sure you heard from our military that the same NGOs are funding fighters and selling weapons. My point again - be guided. That is how you stay safe.

smokinloud:
Let's assume US have an ulterior motive, does Nigeria possess the technological capabilities to protect its cyberspace from potential US interference? Even if we decline US aid for the fibre optic network, we still lack the necessary infrastructure. This is the fact. What do you think we have to defend our cyberspace against US surveillance or other malicious activities. Should we reject US assistance solely based on anti-Western sentiments, or is it more pragmatic to acknowledge our current vulnerabilities and seek ways to address them?.

PoliticsRe: Tax Reforms; "Nigerians Are Over-pampered, Don’t Want To Put In Work." Uzor Kalu by MasterTeeUSA: 2:16am On Jan 19, 2025
I get all your points, but you may be shocked to find out that all the glitters is not gold. Lots of politicians here engage in bribery and corruption. They get donations to their campaigns and pass laws for their cronies. The people can do nothing about it. If you see the amount of work people do for minimum wage, you will cry. The reason more of our people do well abroad is because the West picks the best or very best amongst us, so the chances to move up the ladder to average or above-average is a little high. Some of our people unable to move up dabble in fraud which also inflates the benefits abroad. There are lots and lots and lots of our people here living in rented apartments more so than those that are landlords. Lots of our folks are in jail too...long term sentences. How do you return back to Nigeria and say you couldn't make it abroad? Shame alone is enough reason for people to keep toiling. Still I get your point...we have our issues in Nigeria, but like I said earlier, until we all travel and experience it, you will never understand the difference between Naija work and abroad work for real.

We thank God for drugs and medications. We thank God for govt benefits. If the West gets rid of retiree benefits, benefits for the poor, subsidized health care and so on...more people will run back to Nigeria. My fear..the West will soon start getting rid of these benefits. If you follow Naija news, people are already returning to Nigeria for medical procedures...expect more in the years to come.

Otsam:
I'm not a fan of mediocrity and I'm not making a case for anyone guilty of it. But let's be realistic, both quality and quantity of work you do in Nigeria, do we get values for the input? If you agree with me, you will realize that people will take the same job back in Nigeria with the same enthusiasm if they get values for their energy. Even the tax we are talking about, no one would have complained if they are seeing the results of the tax. That's the reason people abroad will only complain about tax yet, refuse to go back home. They get the value for those taxes.
If we are talking about the unlucky ones abroad that is yet to have a house back home, let's compare the ratio landlords in the population back home to the ratio of landlords in the population of our people abroad and see the difference.
So let's be realistic, the politicians should robbing it on the masses' face that they control their destiny.
PoliticsRe: Obi To Write Tinubu Over Exorbitant POS Charges by MasterTeeUSA: 2:06am On Jan 19, 2025
For every solution, you create another problem. So many people now depend on POS services as a side business. Passing regulations that eliminate them will put all these people out of business.

On the other hand, I see the problem. Most above-average-income earners use transfers and barely use cash, so the charges affect low-income and average-income earners. The Govt has limited how much POS business owners can get daily. The Govt may need to enforce that. I also agree that they need to implement access to cash, but it is not cheap to install ATMs everywhere.

Nigeria may want to try the Western system. Allow others to install an ATM, load cash, and charge customers for using their ATM. So if you use your GTBank card at a non-GTBank ATM installed by others, you pay x amount. Well guess what, it is similar to POS grin grin grin. If we say the Govt should regulate how much POS could charge, say ...for N10,000, charge N100, access to cash is not the same everywhere so that it will hurt some.

Now that I have listed some challenges, what solutions could we go with...

1. Set POS charges for POS operators
2. Allow the charges to be tied to distance from the nearest bank or banks, so if you are 5km from a Bank, you charge N100 for every N10,000; if you are more than that, you charge N200.
3. Who will enforce? Create a hotline to report POS owners or create an email, Facebook, X account, or our system.
4. Make all POS operators get a license and display them.
5. Those who violate these charges after multiple warnings will have their license revoked, and they will need to re-apply
6. Tie all licenses to NIN so if POS is used for ransom, you know who you are looking for.

These are my solutions. Come up with yours, and keep the insults. We need to be a solution-oriented society.

I am not talking about the amount of work..I am talking about the quality of work. Have you worked security inside snow for minimum wage abroad? inside cold room? clean houses? just to earn how much?

You work double so you can earn enough to do something back home if you are lucky. Do you know how many of our people abroad still don't have a house in Nigeria?

Otsam:
The amount of work or hours of work Nigerians abroad undertakes is mostly born out of the realization of how much they could amass and bring back home in a set time frame also, sometimes because of our intentions to come and impress and express back home. So don't compare it with her that your survival depends absolutely on how far and hard you can go.

Don't worry Naija is getting there...days of Rent of $500/yr is coming to an end as your minimum wages increase, employers will start demanding you work hard for what you earn. States are getting rid of those collecting salaries on the payroll for doing nothing. You think cos people make N1k per hr, they don't pay N300k per month in rent lol. It is until you japa that you understand that you can't survive on N1000/hr lol

Mexyz:
Do I get to be paid the same amount with what people receive there?
Because I really do not know your argument now.
How about they introduce something like 1k/hr for the least paying job in Nigeria and see if Nigerians will spend 12hrs working non-stop or not.
A country where minimum wage is less than $50 is what you're using to compare to USA or other advanced countries?

You lose land when you start a war and
end up losing besides those lands were never Palestinian in the first place but were Jordanian, Egyptian and Syrian.

I can bet my balls you didn't know Germany lost lands like Strasbourg to France and others to Poland after wars they fought and lost but you will not see them crying all over the place about occupied lands and stuff.

Is it the kind of due process Hamas gives to their citizens or which one? Your likes will not see anything wrong when Hamas arbitrarily harrases, imprisons and kill Gazans but will cry wolf when Israel defends itself from the same Islamists terrorists.

So You call attacking defenseless women, children and elderly in their beds and also young revelers having their festival resistance? Then you should also stop crying genocide upandan the internet when the repercussions of their acts of resistance comes.

Your reasoning is like that of a 5 year old 🙆...the citizens are not the problem but your genocidal buddies Hamas attacked and massacred hundreds of the same innocent citizens..

PoliticsRe: Abuja-kaduna-kano Road To Be Completed In 14 Months – FG by MasterTeeUSA: 11:21pm On Jan 17, 2025
This is the best way to complete projects in Nigeria, as I suggested under Buhari. You split the work and give it to multiple companies. If one finishes early ...and the other is lagging, you cancel the rest of the payments to the one lagging and avoid it to the company that completed the previous section. It is the Parable of the Talents in the Bible. Take the talent from the useless and give it to the person who can manage talents well.

Then you supervise massively, so they don't cut corners. If the timeline is 18 months...allow all of them that 18 months..even if one finishes in 12 months, the others are still within the contractual obligation timeline. If you cancel that, you get sued and lose in court for breach of contract. After 18 months, cancel and relocate the project to the other company.

Bullpenn11:
It was all cheers at the Decoration Ceremony of newly promoted police officers, most especially the Chief Security Officer to Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Ojukwu.

The Minister was given the honour of decorating the officer DSP Henry Okolongwu with the emblem of his new rank.
It was a ceremony witnessed by many of his colleagues, family members and an impressive turnout of youth.
DSP Henry Okolongwu is noted as one of many police personnel who is very popular with the youth and who in the discharge of duties helps to improve the image of the Force by giving it a more human face.

Speaking after the investiture, Mrs Ojukwu stated, ‘it is heartwarming to note that there exists within the NPF, a new breed of police personnel who are dynamic, professional, charismatic, youth oriented, familiar with the challenges that Nigeria's youthful population encounter with law enforcement on a daily basis, and determined to make a difference. I wish him God's guidance and a promising future’

The Nigeria Police Force in its new strategy has embarked on a recruitment drive of young officers who are committed to service delivery, hoping to clean up its perceived image of corrupt practices and uncommitted officers who more often than not, victimize those who they are employed to protect.

Lots of Palestinians are in Israeli jails without due process.
