This really surprised me cos sales matter more than manufacturing. If you cannot sell, you cannot manufacture. If you can sell, you can improve manufacturing. Look at the Chinese Brands, they even do showcase and annual car shows highlighting improvement in their sedans and SUVs. I have seen some cars in Ibadan with logos I did not know only to realize they were actually Chinese brands.

Sometimes I wonder If Innoson is just meant to be an achievement and not really for profit, because I was truly surprised they had no plans in place. I was going to pay monthly and pay in full before even collecting the car, but they had no system in place. I plan to try NORD very soon and see if they have a better system in place.

Can Innoson meet the capacity of all the orders he has or has pending? I called Innoson about financing, and I was directed to banks like Access Bank. They should have a bank rep working for them that can process payments. Why can't Innoson market to Nigerians on monthly payments...make deposits, pay up for 80%, pick up vehicles or delivery, and balance up? That can appeal to Diaspora folks who visit home often. Even Nigerian celebrities can be given one or two to use ...they can work with Unions for direct debit for civil servants. They need to be more creative around payments and financing, and the business will blossom. Govt cannot increase Innoson's capacity. The money belongs in the private sector. Govt purchase is not sustainable.

Innoson also needs a car showcase in Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan, Abuja, Kano, and major metropolises. Look at Obi Cubana with his Keke. Some will scream that no one is patronizing SE Innoson, but the business must upgrade and meet the times. Lobbying and political alignment help, too. It happens like this even in the West.

This is commendable but the church can do more. I am one of those who criticize churches for forgetting what Jesus stood for...taking care of widows, orphans and less amongst us. Honestly we should not have a term limit with our Governors. Some of them have the capacity to do more than 2 terms. If Gov of Oyo State can do 3 or 4 terms, I would say, let him continue. I can only imagine what Oyo State would look like in the near future if he can govern for 10 more years. We are generating our own power now..Solar IPP and all. Omo we should move a motion for only Gov Mbah to do 3 terms. After he's done with Enugu, Enugu wahould be developed up to Abuja's standard in terms of infrastructure. Like if you don't live in Enugu you won't understand the joy I'm feeling. If you come out of your house and go into town, you'll see construction going up. Different roads are being built. What the Gov has done quietly with water supply and infrastructure is commendable to say the least. No doubt, Enugu is positioning itself as an investor-friendly state. What is wrong with paying taxes if you are making money using the roads built by the govt for your business? This is the best way given that Nigerians can switch receipts or pass them along to others that did not pay. Capture, documents, collect payment and eliminate the agberos....they should do the payments at the parks or banks and all keke riders need to collect ID cards with payment ID numbers and those cards can be scanned to verify payments on a daily basis. If schools can create accounts for each students, we can do this to keep us safe and increase IGR.

Transportation and Housing Taxes alone will take us out of the mess we find ourselves.

But they can still make it work. My problem is the lack of foresight and initiatives. Why not use the Halls in the school as Event Centers? Pick Agriculture produce and mechanized so you can massively supply the community...there are so many things to do to make the school viable and generate appropriate IGR. The waste is in the lack of productivity and efficient use of resources. I wont be surprised if all those hired are related to one person or another...the reason they don't want IIPIS so we wont know about these hiring practices...and the same people will shout, govt is corrupt. E bi n pa wa. These are the reasons we have waste in our system. No self regulation or discipline or initiatives.

The issue in Nigeria is regulations and reforms not government spending. This is a good start. I can also suggest what Govt needs to do:

1. Reform the Real Estate Industry - unify process to acquire real estates - the must have, the verification process, mortgage accounting and govt guaranteed loans that can be based on private funding. If everyone can be at peace, investment will rush in from the Diaspora. Regulation will be agreed to at the National Assembly, and domiciled at the State Level. Enforcement will also be key to this reform.

2. Land Use Charge and Taxes - there should be a national reform around this. Different states can have different percentages but all states should pay land use charge and taxes to states and federal govt, just like we do for businesses. All proof of ownership should be documented with the Fed Govt. This would help EFCC investigations, and those buying and selling can verify proof of ownership.

3. Reform Landlord-Tenancy - National Legislature for rules guiding real estate agency, all tenancy should include a fee and documentation with the state like rental license. Landlords can submit records to LGAs to be transmitted to the states. All tenancy should include a small fee for state and federal. Federal courts to adjudicate cases on time, and judgment that can be enforced via salary garnishment and business sale to recoup rents. For Tenants, minimal requirements for all landlords and the right to sue at the LGA courts. Clear reforms like this would expand investment in housing for rents. As it is, everyone is just doing anyhow.

4. Create reforms around Fed and State agencies that will inspect buildings and building codes, self reporting and self policing. The govt would need more workers, but there would also be a small fee charged annually as part of land use charge to cover all of this.

This is just for housing alone. If the Govt can make reforms, investments will come in. The Govt need not spend like a drunken sailor. UAE-Dubai has opened up the country and the amount of forex coming into the country is insane. The number one country investing in Dubai is India. Reforms are what the country need.. So many Nigerians have money and would be willing to pay charges, fees and taxes that can then be channeled into development which is what Dubai is doing. Areas not conducive for living is not being transformed into Mega Cities. Nigerians have the funds within and outside of the country. Remove the corruption and create transparent processes and the people will come.

I asked my friend who worked in intelligence...he said they often have multiple leads, so they look at priority issues. They have bigger fish than him, like those trying to sell US assets. Once the information got to them that he was cloning US websites to redirect traffic, he was done.

Sometimes they also wait because they want to trace the network, so when they finally make the arrest, it can span multiple countries and multiple networks. These romance scams targetted vulnerable adults and i think it has led to suicide which is why they are also taken seriously.

There are many reasons for this...the first question to ask her is...are you paying them anything for the work, or are they doing it for free because they are your apprentice? In the US, unpaid internship was dealt with in court. If you are not paying people, you are limited in how much work you can give them to do.

Nigeria needs to revisit these things. People come to learn and they pay to learn trades...teach them but when you start using them to earn your own living, then they should be partially compensated. Say the makeup is N20k and they do a good job, pay them N5k and post your compensation inside the shop so workers will know if they should train with you. Having someone sleep in your house to work for you for no pay...whats the gain? They will definitely benefit more telling them at home they are working overnight with you and going to their boyfriends...no be only money he will give them on top. Anyways, let us say no to this slavery attitude, and it cuts across all industries.
