CareerRe: What The Most Suitable Proffession For A Married Woman? by Matthewbriggs(m):
Career wise, no human being should allow his or herself to be put in a box due to gender. Do what you love and aspire for greatness in your chosen profession. The key is learning how to balance your work and family life irrespective of what you do.

For me, I would like wifey to be more like a founder, investor and CEO of her own company or self-employed that way she is in control of her time ... among many other benefits.

For crying out loud Matthew, what has this got to do with APC or PDP?

I'm looking at it from the cost implication view point when it's pretty obvious the alleged are the high and mighty.

How on earth would you expect any successful prosecution against Obasanjo and Abubakar on a case such as this?

Why should we waste money to chase 150 million dollars when there really isn't any guarantee that any prosecution will be successful
The same logic is an even more reason PMB should not probe GEJ's tenure.

looking at it from the cost implication view point when it's pretty obvious the alleged are the high and mighty.

Why should we waste money to chase theives in GEJ's adminstration, when there really isn't any guarantee that any prosecution will be succesful.

The above is exactly how you sound right now.

I will take APC serious when hypocrisy is done with from their political dictionary.

Aside that all they are doing is just a facade, only gullible people will buy into their definition of change.

Regards.

How much do you think it will cost to prosecute possibly 2 ex presidents and other powerful people with massive resources to defend themselves?
Really huh .

This logic is so flawed. APC is no different from PDP.

Defend corrupt people or protect them when they are in your party, crucify them and be pro Nigerian if they are in the other party.

Politics is truly a game of interest hidden under altruistic speechs of I want what's best for Nigeria.

Hypocrisy is trully a common place in politics.

I was expecting the military angle but surely the amount we spend as a country isn't necessarily going to make any significant difference to their income as a nation. The era of starting wars for the sole purpose of siphoning a sovereign nations wealth is becoming unfashionable. The world is moving away from the black gold

Majority of the privatization done in Nigeria is usually to citizens who at most times would have embezzled some of the nations wealth. So in actual sense, the wealth is being redistributed by way of employment and legitimate profiteering.
Watch the video to get my drift. It would be hard to get the angle I am coming from ... Just yet.

Conspiracy theory bro

How come the activity of BH is restricted to 4 or so northern state if their main aim is to destabilize Nigeria?

Their activities aren't exactly affecting business confidence nor forcing us to piggyback on the mighty economic giant backs for sustainability.
That's why I used the word more likely. I never presented it as a fact.

Moreover come to look at it, the rise of bokoharam definitely benefits them with our military budget expanding with little income coming in from oil, that leaves us with no option than to seek loans and enter debt to fight this monster called Book haram.

Also the more we are pushed to a corner to seek help from the west to fight this monster the more vulnerable we are to their terms.

Also BH can be also be used as a tool to affect the popularity of this regime if it does not play ball.

But that is not the question. The cycles of debt, and hijacking of a nations economy using privatisation is one intresting angle that makes me worry about the activities of these hitmen.

Watch the video to get my drift.

PS I am not against the west. I feel it is important we become aware of the global game of power been played. Understanding this game. Will enable us put local happenings in a much stronger context.

This will aid us make better decisions as citizens and leaders.
PoliticsRe: A Must Watch Video, Confessions of an economic hitman by Matthewbriggs(op):
Sweetlemon:
From what I have observed so far, BH is either a PDP project or a western (world) project.
It is more likely a western world project if it really is. That could be used on Buhari if he does not play ball. Also the way they propagandized him to power would be the same way they would tear him down If he does not play ball. just the same way they tore GEJ down.

The APC and PDP need to really unite to fight for Nigeria not their selfish interests.
PoliticsA Must Watch Video, Confessions of an economic hitman by Matthewbriggs(op):
Confessions of an economic hitman.

This details how nations are conquered and destroyed. The events of the last election are becoming clearer.

GEJ and Buhari maybe pawns to a much bigger game, that is bigger than the microscopic way we view politics and our economy.

WebmastersRe: Why Do Nigerians Hate Commenting On Tech Blogs? by Matthewbriggs(m): 7:54am On May 28, 2015
MissTechy:
Trust me, I actually talked with some of my fellow TOP tech bloggers in Nigeria and it is not just views they want.
Their is a difference between what matters and what they want.

Look at the key tends on most critically acclaimed tech sites like mashable, verge, tech crunch and our up and coming techcabal and techloy. Comments are not what makes them thick but no of views and following. Techcabal had to even disable comments, Forbes and mashable hide comments you have to click on a tab to open them up ... If you want engagement twitter is a good place to get it for your post.

I think what is important in this context in terms of engagement is how many people share or like your posts.

My point is don't fret of feel discouraged that comments are not flying in... Just keep posting quality content gradually you would gain traction.
WebmastersRe: Why Do Nigerians Hate Commenting On Tech Blogs? by Matthewbriggs(m): 9:41pm On May 27, 2015
MissTechy:
So are you saying more than 90% of Nigerians re not smart enough to engage with Nigerian tech blogs because they might be too "tasking"
I never said 90% ... I simply talked about lack of interest in technology, and not knowledgeable enough to understand technology talk-less of making meaningful comments hence most do not comment.

Views are what matters for tech bloggers not comments.
WebmastersRe: Why Do Nigerians Hate Commenting On Tech Blogs? by Matthewbriggs(m):
MissTechy:
Maybe If we can know from your opinions what the tech blogs in Nigeria are not doing right - then we can combat the problem
The problem is not from tech writers but from the readers.

1. Majority of them are not comfortable with technology related discussion, when did we start using technology in the first place. In other not to make a fool of them selves they simply do not comment.

2. Most people mostly go to technology blogs to learn and know what's happening but are not keen at been part of the discussion because technology related discussion is way out of their league. Have you ever asked why people doze off in maths class.

3. They simply do not care about technology of find it interesting.

As for me I would rather create technology than talk about it.
TravelRe: More Reasons Why Visa Applications Are Refused by Matthewbriggs(m): 4:44pm On May 18, 2015
jaybee3:
The affordability issue is actually pretty straightforward. Each applicant should be able to truthfully answer if they can afford the trip without recourse to public funds period.

I have no doubt in my mind that someone earning 700k per month with 6 months bank statement showing salary deposits but an account balance of 200K at the end of the 6 months will be gladly given a visa simply because they know it will be very stupid of him/her to leave that kind of job for lie of uncertainty.
Surprisingly I was never asked for my bank statement during my interview, in fact they never asked me for any document. I was simply asked a couple of question like, what other country have I been to in the past 5 years, I told him London, What I wanted to do in the US, where exactly I was going to that was it.

Surprisingly the visa officer happened to be a fan boy of my profession, we ended up having a friendly chat about what I do and how far technology has influenced my field and that was it.

Was given a visa with out stress. I think for US embassy the most important criteria aside having a good financial status, is having a solid reason to leave the country and been very confident and sincere in regards to your answers because it goes a long way in aiding once application. They are highly trained in the art of reading people.
EducationRe: LASU Vs IBADAN POLY : Nairaland Interschool Debate: WINNER: IBADAN POLY by Matthewbriggs(m): 5:26pm On May 17, 2015
My apologies, my feedback is coming late. Its a priviledge to be a judge on this debate.

SammyScholar of THE POLYTECHNIC, IBADAN did a good job of outlining and presenting his points and stating why he thinks abortion needs to be legalised.

The key argumentat that struck me was where he stated below;

Abortion is not a murder to a pregnant woman whose life is in danger and could only survive by getting ride of her pregnancy. Abortion is never inhumane for a rape victim whose aspirations have been traumatized and could only be revived by aborting her unsolicited pregnancy. What do we say of parent that has had the optimum children they can cater for but, mistakenly, had a pregnancy that could destabilize their family forever? Of course, having an abortion is the way to go! Or can we contest the fact that no one is above mistake?
He brought to our awarness how abortion viewed as a taboo is actually the saving grace in a positive way for a particular group of people.

My only criticism is that the writer did not try to discredit the popular stance of Pro- lifers which is that a foetus is a living being, killing them is therefore murder and an act of selfishness.

His argument basicly re emhapsised the fact that pro choicers are basicly selfish and care less about the life they carry inside of them but about the impact of the life on their lifestyle and future.

As for the the LASU poly rep.

1. He made no point in his argument, what he had up there was gibberish.

He did a good job of confusing his audience instead of enlightening them in respect to his stance with the use of bogus and unnecessary grammar.

2. I expected to see strong arguments like.
-What is life and where does it really begin.
-If life really begins at conception or at particular stage killing that life is murder.
- Pro choicers are simply trying to justify cold bold murder, because Killing a life just because one wants to shield ones self from its consequence is no different from killing a fellow man because you think his existence would make your life miserable.
- what should be preached is abstinence, use of contraceptives and support for people with unwanted pregnancy etc.

More grace to the participants. Thanks for the time and effort put into this.

The level of division I have observed so far is getting worse by the day and its been transferred to the new generation with higher intensity.

PoliticsRe: Ben Bruce Vs Buhari. Difference Between A Man Ready For A Job And One Who Is Not by Matthewbriggs(m): 10:01am On May 12, 2015
TedRitz:
I have always preferred men who have grown a business or actively served their community without a budget from government as leaders. What Nigeria has always had was spoonfed civil servant and military men whose salaries are ready at the end of the month, without thinking smart or being creative.

Ben Bruce has run a successful private business of global significance. His little dream of beauty pageant organization has grown into a national mainstay and has delivered a Miss World (Agbani Darego) a Miss Universe (Bianca Onoh) etc and has also become perhaps the most entertaining TV and radio station in Nigeria. Today he is a senator representing Bayelsa.

Ben Bruce has been highlighting his mission to the Senate. He has told the governors what he does when he is unable to pay salaries. He has never had the nipples of Niger Delta oil to suck from. Thus he is able to chastise governors waiting for money and embezzling the money for salaries like APC Aregbesola etc are doing. He has talked about salary cuts for senators and government officials.

Buhari on the other hand, used to huge military pensions and pension as ex head of state is already complaining of lower earnings for Nigeria. The cry-baby that he is, he has never grown a business so does not know what to do at all.

Anyway, 18 days is enough to teach an old dog new tricks. Tinubu must begin the orientation now on how to run an organization for Buhari. It is hugely needed.

By now we should be hearing serious policy statements and the direction he wil take, not asking what to hit Boko Haram with or saying he is ruling at a wrong time. Let us hear solutions and not problems. You told us the problem during campaign. Say solutions now Buhari.

9. Nigeria needs to work, he is been made to understand that the stakes are high for him. No room for him to f-up.
