My six-month old sometimes wants to hold her food & feed herself! I've been giving slices of potatoes & carrots, she doesn't like carrots. What else can I give her?

tjskii: Tried it for my kid,he loved it,but I didn't cos it tasted to concentrated for my liking undecided undecided
It will taste that way because the fruits are boiled. I discovered this when I made apple puree for my girl, it tasted much too sweet, I actually mixed it with pap for a while to tone down the taste.

Wendy80: Great Mums, has anyone ever tried Gerber pureed fruits I̶̲̥̅̊n jar? I intend giving iit 2my 4months old Girl.....jar say from 4-36mmths
My girl loves them! She has been eating them since 4mo & she is 6mo now & looks forward 2 them as sunday lunch. You will start with 1/2 a jar, so she gets used to the taste.

NO
honeyyetty: Good morning mums, pls I need an urgent answers to this: pls can I give my 7 months baby ovaltine mix with Sma, and when can she start taking agbo jedi-jedi?
I was also waiting to see replies to your question. However, I went thru other previous posts & the answer is NO. No chocolate drinks for babies less than a year old, they contain way too much sugar.

I think steaming mostly helps the cold / stuffy nose. The weather and teething issues won't help matters either. Try vitamin C syrup & freshly squeezed orange. If he loves holding foods, give him the smaller half of the orange slice to chew on. This should help soften & get rid of the cough in no time.

Hello mums, this is the exact group I need for we turned 6months old 2day!!!! cheesy
Wendy80: Pls Is Nutrend ok for a 4month?
If you want to start introducing solids gradually , say one/two spoons a day at first, then its fine. But I think pap is a better first food for a baby transitioning from an all milk diet; because its mixed with the same milk baby has been taking.

Jade William: My dear, I do what works 4me.My baby's hair was breakin so somone told me abt Kudos 100% Indian hemp hair cream so I bought it&mixed it wit lots of ori&olive oil hair cream for kids.U need 2c her hair 4mths later.
I've been looking for advise on growing my babies hair, & came across this comment.
Aren't our babies too young & their skin & bones too tender for Indian Hemp cream?
Please, wanting the best for your baby now also means thinking of her future - Hemp is too strong for her tender growing BRAIN!!!

Please, I have the same question as MamaDee. My 6month old is showing signs of teething & my MIL wants me 2 giv her teething powder & piccan or bonababe (she has been asking me to do this since 2months). I read the packs and Pican & Bonababe are paracetamol based - isn't that drug abuse? Isn't it best if I use only teething toys?

julicoka: mums pls my baby wil be 7m on 27th she refuse to eat only d bossom she want.
Does she show intrest when you are eating? If she does, try feeding her what you are eating, while you are eating (google baby led weaning).
My 5months old has suddenly stopped bosom feeding & screams when I try to bosomfeed her. She only wants 2 drink water even at night! undecided

ufe: Hello guys welldone for d gud work u all are doing on dis thread.
My baby is will be 5 months dis weekend.pls I want to ask is it too late to start tying my tummy as I didn't take it very seriously earlier and don't like d bulge grin
It's a little late for tying now. Tying works when the uterus is still contracting back 2 normal. At this stage you just have 2 do stomach exercises like the rest of us cheesy

salsera: After you wash her hair, mix a little olive oil and shea butter whilst its damp from the roots to the tips and dont wash it out. it works better than most hair creams
Thanks. I use coconut oil but when I added shea butter, it was easier to comb out.
k4kenny: Hey ya, my 4 month old's hair isn't long at all sad . Wish she has d kind of hair I could plait. My gal pal has 2 girls and she uses colourful rubber bands to pack d hair into about 10 places. She waits till they're asleep b4 embarkin on d mission grin
Kenny, that style has 2 be done daily, or in my case, hourly because she she pulls out the bands. LoL. Don't worry about your girl; soon, you will be changing hair styles every week!

maxiflexi: My 4 month+ rosebud's hair is a full afro & almost completely kinky. Combing is no longer fun. What do you ladies do first to ur babes hair? When can I start weaving her hair?

For those asking thebest time to start solids, this is what I followed:
Ask yourself the following questions to determine whether your baby is ready for solid food:
1. Can she hold her head up and does she have good head control? She should be able to maintain good control of her head while eating.
2. Does she open her mouth when you offer her the spoon? When babies open their mouths to take food from a spoon, it’s a good sign of readiness to eat solids.
3. Can she move the food from the spoon into her mouth without sticking out her tongue and pushing the food out or turning her head?  Your daughter should be taking the food from the spoon and swallowing it.
4. Is she big enough? Generally, babies are ready for solid foods when they’ve doubled their birth weight.

If the answers to all of the above questions are yes, it’s likely that your baby is developed enough to handle some solid foods just fine. Pureed bananas and infant cereals are good choices for babies.

First love, especially when its unrequited, seems like the end of the world. Just let her be - no calls, text or contact for at least a month, see how it works out 4 U guys!
In 10 years, (or maybe 3 gfs from now), u will look back and laff at this whole deal.
