These people are going into the church to thank God for their lives for the year and to pray for the incoming year. They want the new year to meet them in the house of God as they believe that will be pleasing to Him.
Ask yourself, if Jesus was a Pastor anywhere on earth today, do you think he would send away any one that came into his church to "crossover" to the new year, or use the opportunity to welcome them, make them feel comfortable, preach to them and lead them into the Kingdom?

Just because something is not in the Bible doesn't make it false, illegal or irrational. Culture and traditions vary with time and place, but as long as a practice doesn't outrightly contradict the teachings of Jesus Christ, there's no need condemning it or those who engage in it

Problem is no written instruction on how to go about something that's not biblical so doing it will lead to confusion as handling the situation will surely vary from person to person and there won't be any rules guiding whatever is done.
