Note that Jesus mentioned both men and nothing good or bad was said about them other than one rich and the other poor.
Jesus also said Moses and the prophets are around when Moses never lived with the Israelites in any settlement with gates yet according to the story the rich man had gates to his house.

That was not the intention of what he said. After all Jesus Christ took from the servant, he gave one gift and gave it to the one who had ten already, and cast the one with one gift away. That means he hates people who choose to be poor, either directly or indirectly. I think that was what he was trying to say.

Jesus wasn't talking about materialism in that illustration rather he meant industriousness in making more preachers and teachers for him.
All these churches have failed woefully in that except Jehovah's Witnesses.
