I wonder what the op is trying to justify. Aren't kids stubborn and annoying? The Bible even advice that we should not spare them the rod.
Our parents are great and we must at least give them kudos, especially some of us that have/had disciplinarians as parents, we came to understand and cherish this as adults.
When he/she marries and have kids, she'll understand what's up.

African parents believed they are training you and putting you in the right path and building you up for a future ahead to make you become a better person.
You must have offended your parents before they'll discipline you, and if you're dealt with wrongly, which is not common in most cases, they have their ways of apologizing to you, which may not be direct.
For instance, my mum would have been warning and giving you signs long before the 'day of your reckoning' would come.

Sorry to say this, some men are actually responsible for the 'wildness' of some ladies. Imagine a man one wasted years dating and at the end of it all, dumped the girl for another one.
Men believe in dating many women and choosing one of them at the end of the day. Some ladies are victims of this and as such, they are now wiser.....but the same group of men still castigate them, when in actual fact they taught them to be mean.
In your situation, it's just a case of a 'good one' suffering too. You'll be okay.

This is one good thing about Lagosians, especially those ones we do sometimes look down on as illiterate or semi-illiterate, they come together to save situations like this.

I used to say this, that the evil some parents commit is unbelievable and they shall answer for these children on the judgement day, if they like, let them become deacon, deaconess or even GO.
Those kids are too small, immature, emotionally insecure and mentally unprepared but some parents, through competition, poverty or ignorance will be pushing the kids through school when they're supposed to groom them and prepare them for maturity ......but at primary 4 they move them to Secondary, skipping other classes, and by 12, 13 or 14 you'll hear they're already in the Uni.
Imagine a kid that can't think for himself/herself in the Uni?
University is no child's play for crying out loud!
The evil some parents are perpetrating will find the out.

The Bible says "whosoever kills by sword will die by sword'.
If you participate in jungle justice, same awaits you, though it may be in other dimension/form.
However, if the person repented of the sin and ask for forgiveness and he/she is forgiven .......will suffer for the sin of killing but his/her soul will be saved....i.e. if he eventually died a follower of Christ.

Love is central to christian faith and all the commandments: if you love God, you will honour him, obey His commandments, believe Him and every of His word, you wouldn't do evil to your neighbour, ready to forgive and let go, tell them about the love of Christ, be submissive to His wills....etc. etc.
Without love it'll be difficult to do all these. The Op summarized the 10 commandments using the word "Honour", the Lord Jesus categorised all under "Love".
