justwise: I dont think you understand why i quoted that section of his post and made my comment, please read and understand before replying. May be you know.....how many people have committed suicide because of TV license?

The second part of your post is just full of non-substantial assumptions and you don't seems to know jack about life in the UK
Yeah he doesn't at all, they all based on "den say den say" stories.
TravelRe: Is It Advisable To Settle In The United Kingdom After Studies by mayo47(m): 7:17pm On Dec 31, 2013
Krucifax: There is no one arguing or starting an argument the post was started by someone asking for advice about a location. So i as someone who lives in that location is offering information. I had to point the "£100k" poster out because if you live in the U.K like i do then you know that that statement is likely false.

David Cameron(Prime Minister) His official salary is £140K per annum. The Average salary for a middle post male(with years of experience) in 2013 is £31,678.

On an aside you said you can "attest" to what was said so please enlighten us as you seem to know more than me who lives in London.
I still can't comprehend why david cameron salary is listed, are you saying no one earns more than him?

rudedough: Are you sure you've lived or live in the UK? How could you not know that you get to pay over £100 per annum for TV license to own a TV set? Or don't you have a TV in your house?

These are the unique unannounced things Nigerians enjoy back home. Apart from life security, a working system and a conducive environment, there is no life in the UK. You stay indoor and get so bored, you start feeling claustrophobic.

I feel sorry for those who go there to work. In Nigeria, after a long hard day at work, you get to visit mama Nkem bar, chat with friends, shack some Odeku and point & kill Pepper soup and feel refreshed again but in the UK, nah!!! You can't even spend that money else "you know what happens when you don't get your bills sorted".

Abeg Govt provide 24 hours power only and see how many Nigerians remain in the UK or anywhere abroad.
Try read in between the lines! he was referring to those claimed to kill themselves because they can't afford tv license

Aderibigbe_AAA: who are the lecturers? give us names, you wanted to say those Msc students or Phd students of UI who are Head of department in those private schools.

You can't see or know the uniqueness of UI because low level intellectual like you with 0.1 level of reasoning will not see anything good in UI.

for instance, in leadcity university when it two or three weeks to examination, the students are given 15 theory question to practice of which 6 of the 15 questions will appear in the exams and they are meant to answer 4 of the 6.
And You still claim you are not spoon feed?

and I know that what apply to other private schools too?

#TeamUI
How are u sure that what apply to other private schools, so are u saying what applies to ABU zaria also applies to UI. I really don't understand this hatred towards private unis. I put this to u, is there actually any problem in the creation of private unis?? Last time i checked private unis exist in several countries including the UK and there's actually no feud between the private and public uni students like we see in our beloved country. Am here not to support either but i remember vividly during my private uni days, i had a friend whose dad was an associate dean in OAU but still chose to take him to a private uni, well what would u say of that. When it comes to alumni especially the first set of private unis are beginning to be found in managerial position in top companies. So what exactly are we arguing about? the quality education or what pls.

tommynico: wat av dey got dat we avn't?......u guys, especially SA r just dancing to d tunes of ur masters, the western world just to keep ur place. Nigeria has got the potential of opposing d western hold on africa nd dat's y dey support dis God damned corruption in my blessed country nd it's end is very close, only a matter of time.
U really want know what they've got. well they've got good road network have, have u ever in ur life in Nigeria used a train before? Do you know what it feels like to have 24 hours for months even years, Do we have world class universities (south Africa got a top 100 world ranked uni), When do we ever start having foreigners getting excited about coming to Nigeria or rather give testimonies about getting a visa to Nigeria Lool… The world has been talking about Nigeria "potential" for ages probably its not going to be in this generation. You think the western are the ones supporting corruption in Nigeria instead i expected you say they have being saving Nigeria face. James Ibori that was cleared of any wrong doing by a Nigerian judge was sent to jail in the UK where he confessed, Julius Berger was recently fined by the US for bribing Nigeria government officials bribe. I can go on and on but………….

manny4life: You just earned the award for the most idiotic Nigerian I have met, when you talk about scam, from personal to most achievable in business, you call Nigeria? How can you call scam and you leave out China and U.S.? For instance I ONLY buy branded gasoline from Shell or Exxon gas station because the unbranded was (you know what it is). When I use unbranded gasoline, the shitt don't even last compared to branded one, now tell me, if it's akulaku (fake), what do you call that?

Nigeria's crime is exaggerated beyond the point of redemption because our leaders care less about our image, when someone commits a crime, we just let it slide with a nonchalant attitude rather than dealing with it squarely. Other African countries commit crime, they call Nigeria... Nonsense
From the bolded part i don't understand what message u conveying to me with your "you know what it is". Next time try be explicit as much as possible without any assumptions whatever, i must confess to u this your example kinda funny to me. U don't have to abuse or insult anyone for making whatever comment if u disagree with anyone u just try explain for the other to see reason why u disagree. Well its only animals i expect to behave that way u just did.

all4naija: Aren't what you listed typical to all nations of the world? You are deluded to be thinking they only happen to Nigerians or by Nigerians.
Bro pls put sentiment as side a greater portion of scammers in the world are here from Nigeria, loads of young chaps have taken up this yahoo yahoo act and seriously denting 9ija image. In some part of Europe some people stop believing anything u say just because u Nigerian.

@Post
Our population and diversity in all ramifications make us the Giants of Africa.
Someone gotta take that title ya know wink
India is the most diverse country in the world while China is the most populated country in the world but does this make them "Giant of the World" we should stop deceiving ourself by tagging ourself the "Giant of Africa" when everywhere is in a mess. Quite a few African countries are way ahead of us apart from north Africa, Check out Kenya, Mauritius, South Africa.

sir_hamilton: Which professional certificate(s) gives you an edge in the nigerian labour market these days irrespective of what you studied. ? .would really appreciate your comments. Thanks
There are several of them, but it all depends on your previous area of study and your present interest and not for the sake of having a professional certificate.

bunburized: Thanks bro. £300 is fair enough, it still gives me an extra £100 savings as I was actually budgeting £400.
I like cooking my own meals and hope this will also help to reduce my expenses.
Should I bother about carry garri, smoked fish, crayfish, melon, ogbono etc when coming?
I could have my people courier it later to me also if it will be a bother while trying to settle down.
Please can someone engage in "light" trading while schooling? My mum was suggesting she sends me smoked fish from Nigeria so I can sell over there in UK.
I know this is a no no considering the visa rules but can one be careful enough to do this without consequences?
u can bring as much 9ija food stuffs u can get when coming, yh sure u can be involved in trading but with this kinda biz u'll def need know peeps around.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part2 by mayo47(m): 7:02pm On Dec 11, 2013
bunburized: The £304 quoted is actually for a 6 room flat at Castle Irwell. The least accommodation cost for John Lester Court averages around £350.
I have offers for both but still trying to make up my mind.
However, if u suggest I can get a decent private en suite apartment with all utilities inclusive and access to free bus ride as I will be taking lectures at the MediacityUk then by all means I will rather wait till I get to Salford.
Please what should be my average budget for feeding and other expenses weekly? As someone who is already settled there you may have an informed idea how much a fairly average spender like me should be budgeting for a week.
Finally, the job situation. Is there hope for part time job? Though not compulsory for me but a little extra change won't hurt. Although my course involves the option of a 6 months work placement or 3 months internship in an organisation I still don't knw if it will be a paid work placement since it is geared towards completing my masters degree.
Well in terms budget for feeding and other expenses all depends on your spending culture. On the average excluding monthly accomodation fees, i'll say £250-£300 should do. As per job matter not so easy getting a "office like" job but since its not compulsory, i guess u just keep trying u just could be lucky.

bunburized: They are offering me a £304 per month accommodation. Can I get a better offer off campus with all utilities inclusive?
Yeah u can with all bills inclusive but with what you looking for "my own toilet and bathroom" they are more expensive. Personally i'll advice you go for the uni accommodation.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part2 by mayo47(m): 3:54pm On Dec 10, 2013
bunburized: They are offering 6 in a flat all female accommodation. What is the average rate of a private hostel with my own toilet and bathroom? Any good suggestions amongst the school's hostels or private accommodations? I was actually hoping to live in a 2 or 3 bed flat at John Lester court. As a female I value my security a lot and may end up in the school hostel considering it is more secured.
My folks are nt gonna take the argument of a 3days hotel stay well o. I will try and sell it to them though.
I think on the average its about £350-450 per month for university accommodation if you can afford that then u stick with them, u can pay from 9ij for accommodation if u looking at uni accommodation if private chill until get to salford in a day or 2 u'll get a place.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part2 by mayo47(m): 2:46am On Dec 10, 2013
bunburized: What is the most advisable thing to do concerning accommodation?
Should I go ahead and make arrangement for the whole 52 weeks or I should just settle for the minimum contract available pending my arrival then I can make an informed decision concerning my accommodation?
I intend staying in an ensuite accommodation and can't seem to find any available in my school hostel.
I am asking you this question coz am guessing we are both heading for Salford.
Kindly advise as far as accommodation is concern.
I need a nice accommodation and won't mind if it is private but must not be above the schools price range.
Actually started my program in salford, I wouldn't advise you sign up for any contract until u get see the apartment. The best is u stay in a hotel for say 2/3 days while u sort out accommodation issues.
