Politics › Re: Atiku As An IPOB Candidate: The New BMC Propaganda Strategy by MayorofLagos(m): 11:53pm On Oct 10, 2018 |
UnchangeableGod: It is very clear that the ruling party is so much jittery over the emergence of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the PDP presidential candidate for the 2019 presidential elections. This can be attested to via their reactions so far. From observation, the new strategy is to label Atiku an IPOB or Igbo candidate so that he can lose appeal from the rest of Nigerians. It is just like a man who desires to change his children's school because the current one is obviously not giving them the best. Having found an alternative which he deems a better school, he decides to take the children there. Then he overhears another parent who he is not in good terms with praising the new school and just because of that decides not to send his own child there just to spite his 'enemy'. What kind of parent is that? Every Nigerian - Fulani, Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Tiv, Ijaw, Kanuri, Urhobo, Efik, Igala, Idoma, Ebira, Nupe etc stands to get a fairer and better deal should a more competent and visionary leader take over the affairs of the government. Enough of deceit. Enough of false promises. Enough of excuses. Enough of blame game. Enough of propaganda. Enough of 'holier than thou' without any benefits to the people. Let there be a positive change. By His grace, it shall be done. Deep down, the heart of Nigerian politics is ethnocentric. It is only on the surface, on the skinlayer that we practice democracy. Atiku himself demonstrated that against Jonathan twice. In 2011 Jonathan won PDP primary, Atiku was annoyed, he left and supported a co-fulani from North, Ribadu (ACN) against Jonathan. When Ribadu failled Atiku returned in 2013 to PDP to prepare to be PDP candidate in 2015. Jonathan was returned unopposed. This upset Atiku and he rushed kabakaba to APC in hope they will give him flag....but he lost to Buhari. He supported another co-fulani, Buhari, in 2015 to remove Jonathan and PDP. 2018 APC have no flag to give Atiku so he ran again kobokobo back to PDP. He has busied himself running back and forth and focused too strongly on becoming President that he had never prepared himself to share power with other ethnicity because in his spirit its fulani or nobody. Thats what got him in trouble when he tried OBJ with that shyyte. He knows he cannot play superiority game with Yoruba because we really dont need the center....we hsve APCfied our region. So who else can he use to shore up ego and popularity? Its Ibo! There is no desperation in Yoruba. Atiku must find a group hungry and desperate like himself to get his momentum off ground and moving. He must attach to Ibo or else he runs the risks of competing in 2023 with Osinbajo for APC flag, after another defection from PDP to APC. |

Politics › Re: The "Atiku Will Win In The North" Debate by MayorofLagos(m): 3:24pm On Oct 10, 2018 |
Yareema22: I have observed recently how some people(who are mostly from the SE) keep creating threads with half-baked analysis on how Buhari will lose the forth coming elections especially in the North. Some even went as far as saying Buhari will lose in states like Kano,Katsina and Bauchi(these are states he's never lost an election since 2003)without backing their silly arguments with any fact.Everybody is entitled to his opinion and or belief. However, when it comes to matters like this,it is expected that one will be objective and keep sentiments aside...how can someone sitting in his fathers compound in Enugu or Abakaliki and has never set his feet outside his immidiate sorroundings confidently claim that Buhari will lose an Election in a core Northern state? Some of the reasons for their baseless claims are: 1.That the election is going to be between Atiku and Buhari. That both candidates are Fulani,Muslims and both come from the North. If theres any one who's conversant with the politics of the North will know that an average Northener considers Atiku as a corrupt individual who is only interested in the presidency to further enrich himself and not for the interest of his people...Atiku may be popular among the elites but to the "Talakawas"he's the personification of corruption and is never an option 2.That Atiku has achieved alot during his stint as the VP. Well,i dont even know where to start from...in terms of infrastructure,Atiku has not done anything whatsoever especially in the NE geopolitical zone where he comes from...If you have ever plied the road linking Gombe to Adamawa you will will know what iam saying.Atiku was not the president.Agreed.But he was a VP for eight years wihout nothing to show for it.He should have used his position to attract federal projects/presence to his zone or atleast to his home state but neither witnessed any meaningful projects. 3.That Atiku has created 50,000 jobs. This is a lie from the pit of hell...people will just wake up and concoct figures without telling you where they got their data or stats from...the total number of work force in all of Atikus privately owned businesses(AUN, Faro,radio/tv Gotel,Rico Gado, etc) is not up to that figure flying around on social media...and lest i forget, most of these businesses are run on government resources 4.That Atiku has a strong war-chest. There's no denying that Atiku is rich but you can only use that to campaign in the SS/SE region...despite Atiku Dollerizing the APC's presidential primaries in 2015 he came a distant third, behind even Kwankwaso who came second...Atiku's dollers have never won him any election in the North, and 2019 is not going to be an exception. To set the records clear, from 2003-2015,Buhari has always won in virtually all the core Northern states with the exception of Adamawa and Taraba(wich has always been a PDP State) with very wide margings and the reason why he failed to win the presidential elections in previous contests wasbecause he was not massively voted for in other regions and not because the North did not vote for him On a final note, those shouting that Atiku will floor Buhari in the North(especially the NE and NW)should save their MB and energy and use it to campaign for Atiku in other regions because here in the North, the deal to keep Buhari in Aso rock untill 2023 is alredy agreed and wraped up and will be made official come Feb2019 when he will officially sign his contract extention that will keep him in Aso rock for another four years. Ekitimadman: Since Atiku emerged has PDP candidate, argument has been about who will be is VP.
Truly, SE deserves the post.. But I won't sacrifice my daily meal to you because you are hungry. You have to beg for it.
SE need to understand that Politically, SW region is more important than SE when talking about election in Nigeria.
Please am not here to argue. The votes are there. Details are there.
APC has a Combo of Hausa/Yoruba.
What do you expect if PDP present Hausa/Igbo.
That is total failure for PDP before election. 2015 results will never be the same. SW will vote same way SE votes in 2015 if Atiku present SE vice president.
Can you imagine Buhari having over 1 million lead in Lagos and over 200,000 lead in small Ekiti. That will be total disaster. _____________________
For SE to become relevant in Nigeria politics, they need to trace back their step and apologize to their brother SW.
I want you to remember that SE votes will always be useless as long as North and South West vote goes the same way. ______________
No reasonable politician will leave a region with 14 million registered voters for a region with 7 million registered voters..
And also, if power comes to SW in 2023, to have Igbo presidency, that will be 2039. 8 SW + 8 North.
IGBO WILL ALWAYS BE IN TRAP OF NORTH AND SOUTH WEST Doesnt Yoruba deserve the post? You drank that koolaid ehhn....the one about "SE deserve the post"? |

Mohammed insisted that such move will only prevent the South East from producing Nigeria’s president because, “democracy is a game of numbers,” adding that nobody can tell “people to vote for you because you are being irresponsible.” Speaking with The Sun, Mohammed maintained that Igbos caused the Civil war that claimed the lives of over one million people. Mohammed wondered why the same people who caused the Civil war will now turn around to demand for Presidency. He said, “The Igbo are clamouring for an additional state, one of the reasons they are now talking about Biafra, even though the real reason is that they want to blackmail the North, to concede presidency to them. “By this means, they will never get any hope for presidency because democracy is a game of numbers. You cannot tell people to vote for you because you are being irresponsible. http://dailypost.ng/2017/10/10/igbo-man-can-never-nigerias-president-junaid-mohammed/amp/

All known politician fraternizing with him at the moment, are with too much baggage, which might weigh both of them down. Outside of iboland what clout does Atiku possess anywhere else? He cant even engineer a win for his candidate in Adamawa, his state. Atiku does not understand politics, he will need a strong politician and bridge builder. He doesnt understand international relations, he will need a strong diplomat. The man has zero clue about economy and markets, he will need a strong and proven market leader to guide him. He lacks idea on what to do to secure NE, he will need strong security specialists and intelligence professional. He will need help with his domestic affairs as well. Which of his four wives will be first lady? This yeye man is behind and need to hurry up and get himself ready. Not that he will win but he can at least understand and appreciate the struggle of political risks first hand. |

You mention nothing of his wrongdoing since he is actually Ibo and knows what his culture would think of it actions, but didn't have enough respect to be careful. By the way, he's told me once before that he had an abortion in his prior relationship, but only revealed that information after we had conceived. Maybe your bro should wrap up because my legs stayed closed before this snake entered my life. Mid-20s, pregnant...here are your needs in order of priority 1 - medical care for prenatal checks 2 - good and reliable income for food and nutrition 3 - a job with medicat, dental and maternity benefits 4 - family support (this is where Ibo culture comes in) So the family here in Nairaland should not be your first stop. Before coming here you need local support amongst his Ibo circle of family or friends. There are Ibo communities in your area, find them on internet and then make a contact to go visit and get support for you and your baby. Get some sense and tidy up. |

0balufonlll: Good question. I posited that emboldened because my brother Obalufon who believes in your school of thought claimed Ife is older than Egypt. How can Ife be older than the oldest known civilization then turn around to be Arab or Jew? ObalufonIII, You should wear this moniker with grace and pride and character. Sometimes I think I can tell what you ate from your writing. If you ate eba right before coming in you write rascally. If you ate amala with good ewedu or gbegiri, you are calm and very noble in thoughts. Here is my recommendation to you....do not eat eba before you come in here to type response. Please! You cannot respect the ancient history of Egypt without acknowledging the teachings in the Old Testament in Bible. Much of what is contained in written archives, the cultic, artistic and ritualistic traditions of ancient Egypt came through the Biblical narratives, then followed by archeological inspections. There are still narratives of Egypt that archeology has not been able to unravel or understand....yet the myths and accounts told in the Bible and those archived secrets continue to be held in authority. Is this true or false? Egypt in myth is as good as Egypt in historical timelines. Correct? Ife in myth should not loose its authenticity because some late-age researchers are unable to match history and timelines to the narratives of old. Are you understanding me? If Nineveh is a mythical IleIfe, then it stands that Egypt might be a contemporary of ancient mythical Ife. According to Bible, Eden is the beginning and movements shifted Eastward. Correct? Imagine Ife as the beginning....and movements shifted Eastward. Wherever that East is is not of importance at moment....just consider it a placeholder. Then Oduduwa migrated from East to Ife. Right? Could Oduduwa be a scion of those who left Eden (Ife) Eastward....and then returned back to mothership Ife? More to come later...Im tied up at moment but got fired up with this your response to me and couldnt wait for the heat to cool off. .....and talk like an Obalufon when you address people in here. Eat amala right before to help your mood. |

Does Igbo culture condone that behavior towards me? Is his behavior normal? Nyu424: Not to my knowledge. He doesn't want me contacting him unless it's about an abortion. I believe he expects to marry an Igbo woman in the future to please his family, which I understand now. Lady, get the F out of here! I am not a fan of Ibo culture but I wouldn't stand for the kind of nonsense you are spewing. You are crazy, in your mid-twenty and an American to get pregnant for a man and he rejects the pregnancy, then you come to internet for consultation. 0balufonlll: 1. When did the Ijebu-Sudan claim begin & what did the Ijebu people/kings say before that Ijebu-Sudan time? Look at Ijebu kings & warriors told the British during Yoruba internecine wars. See Samuel Johnson or go to National Archives, Ibadan. They told the colonialists they came from Ile-Ife & they fought the wars on Ife’s side to ensure Ile-Ife is restored. Why didn’t the Ijebu king & warriors of that period which was 19th century tell the British they came from Sudan?
I will share a journal article with you. It was published in 1956. While the author did refer to Waddai/Sudan, everything he said pointed towards Ile-Ife. The paper is treated somewhat as a ‘primary source’. The paper is treated somewhat as a ‘primary source’. Here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/elsdi8dqh8zcfvk/THE%20EARLY%20HISTORY%20OF%20IJEBU.pdf?dl=0
2. The problem with the second emboldened statement is that you are confusing religious myth wit actual event. Let us look at your statement which I emboldened - Ife is the center of creation means you are refering to Ife Oodaye which involved inebriate Obatala & Oduduwa landind on earth with a chain. This is purely religious. Actual Ife history says that there were people occupying villages before Oduduwa scattered everything. In fact, the Owa Ijesa & Ekiti kings met people in the several settlements where they became king. This means human creation did not start in this Ile-Ife or anyone at that. Even science speaks of emergence of several humans at different points of history.
3. What books? Are these books certified by communities of professionals or just a group of people with wild imaginative compositions?
4. Arab culture is a literate one. If there were any evet of the migration of the magnitude ofthe Yoruba, they would know. And as you have rightly said, Ife is older than the Egypt which is the oldest civilization. Now if Ife is older than Egypt then why should Ife come out of a much younger civilization of Arab or Hebrew?
5. As for Olu, see, I have encountered him on several threads. That man is an olodo, he knows nothing. I have pointed out & corrected several of is fradulent misinformations. There was a time that theif claimed because his Oriki included ‘Alaga Ogun’ then Lajoodogun’s real name was ‘Lagadogun’ and that he was a descendant of Lajoodogun. On another thread, he claimed rams & sheeps represented Oodua & Obatala - I had to call him out for that too. Several instances of that man’s fraud abound, o yapa gan. His style is to bend a fact to suit his preconceived idea then when a person who knows the actual deal calls him out he will 1. Evade the post all together. 2. Shift goal post to another idea 3. Rabble rouse and try to deflect the entire problem to another person. Tell him not to sit in the corner of his room, invite him to Ife & show him things about Obalufon to start with and that way he can begin to develop mentally & stop relying on his imaginations of what he knows nothing about. The fraud is a write off, abeg. Arab is a literate culture and had no reference of Yoruba migration. However you believe Ife is older than Egypt when there is nothing amongst the literate cultures of old to reference this assertion. How can we reconcile these two sides on literature and history? Which ancient writing culture wrote about Ife or about its age? |

If you were smart & really knew the practice of Ifa without relying on the pages of internet like your appedage Olu, you would have known that eko’fa is a continuum & the inability of one person to know, remember or identify all te verses of Ifa is the reason why Araba of each town has chiefs; reason why numerous Babalawos are present at Itefa; & the reason why numerous Babalawos are present at idafa odun. It is so that they can refresh each orher’s memories & add to the collection of ese ifa available to each person. By the way, who starts chanting Ifa without starting with the Oluwo of the ese Ifa? ‘Mr. I was bathed in agbo’.

It seems like distortion to me but well, I can not stop you from proceeding with your fantasy but I won’t hesitate to jump in if distortions about my hometown or things with obvious proof are attempted by you.
P.S: I, like a lot of my peers, spend months producing & publishing my own details of history on pages of peer reviewed journals not on the pages of Nairaland.
