Jaspernubi:
The greatest undoing of this Administration is to ignore the killings across the country, the silence from the President when People were being killed and maimed, this was the most annoying style that brought about the Security outfit of the Yoruba People now known as "Amotekun"
For too long the the country has been without direction, Leadership is absence and the followers are not too sure what to expect.
Insecurity and deaths increased by the day

The Police have taken a Laissez-faire attitude towards securing lives and property
The much anticipated disintegration of Nigerian was being forced by a section of the country who believed they are heir of the colonial masters and have chosen to insult the intellect of the other region

Recently the spate at which the appointments in all sectors was just from the north became worrisome as the other Tribes were ignored as if we are all conquered
Now that Amotekun is generating a serious conversation, You wonder why the Fulani are afraid of Amotekun Idea

according to Mayegun

Northern group says they have people ready to work with Amotekun.

- Former military coup plotters in the North are scared of Amotekun

- Even Babangida is against and afraid of Amotekun!

- Miyetti Allah says South West should forget Presidency in 2023 because of Amotekun

- Arewa Consultative Forum says South West launching Amotekun will break up Nigeria

- Middle Belt ready to launch their own Amotekun too...

Guys, there's something about this Operation Amotekun that is scaring these people that they are not telling us. What are they afraid of? ‍♂️ ‍♂️

Are they scared that when Yorubas roar, it isn't for fun. Even Babangida knows it.

My Advice to the Yoruba is that they should insist that Nnamdi Kanu return to the Country without being Persecuted by the government, IPOB is also a just course, Nnamdi Kanu has a right to be angry about the situation in the country Just like the Yoruba people.
Yoruba and Ibos should protect Nnamdi Kanu from the one sided Government and insist on the fundamental rights of any Nigerian to express their own opinion and desire for Freedom

Nigeria is at a deciding point in History

Amotekun is going to decide the fate of the unity of the country as it stands and The South Eastern Part of the country have a chance to decide just the way Yorubas are insisting on what is important for the protection of the lives of their people

We want Nnamdi Kanu back to Nigeria. as it stands Nigeria is without a Government
Supported but, WAIT TILL A SOUTHERNER IS THE PRESIDENT TO REQUEST THAT.

Under Buhari or any Northerner I dont trust they wont kill Kanu if they get him.

Some Miyetti Allah members are kidnapping, living in luxury, building houses in bushes — Adamawa vigilante, youth leader

Sarkin Matasa (youth leader) and vigilante in the Girei Local Government Area, Adamawa State, Saidu Hamma, recently led a protest against the release of kidnap suspects from police custody, one of whom is the leader of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, Girei chapter, Ibrahim Jakka. Matasa tells HINDI LIVINUS that Girei will only be safe if Jakka and his gang are rearrested by the police

You recently protested against the release of some kidnap suspects from police custody, what really happened?

We work hand in hand with security agencies, especially the Girei police division. We suspected that some of the suspected kidnappers, whom we assisted in apprehending, were about to be released unconditionally. So we had to mobilise to ensure this never happened. Following the rising spate of kidnapping cases, we (youths) got tired and formed a vigilance group because the government was not helping in addressing insecurity. We patrol the town, using Dane Guns that each volunteer brought with them.

How did you know they were involved in kidnapping?

They are Fulani. They are our cattle rearers. My father owns cows. I’m a Fulani man in the town but they are Fulani people in the bush. When the going was good and we bought cattle, we would call these people to rear them for us. So, we know them. But we have been suspecting them and their activities, so we passed information to security agents. After a directive by the Divisional Police Officer, we went after them in the bush.

Do you have concrete evidence because suspicion is not enough?

We have informants. Those informants are their blood brothers whom we use to monitor and check their (Miyetti Allah) activities. Through our informants, we knew when they went out in the morning and returned at night. Sometimes, they could take as long as two or three days after leaving home, before they returned very late at night.

Secondly, they started living in opulence. They built houses in the bush, which is abnormal for a Fulani man working in the bush. That made us suspicious of their activities. If you are a Fulani man, you don’t build houses in the bush. Instead of being in the bush, they now moved to the city, which is abnormal. That made us to suspect them to be engaged in criminal activities. Our suspicion of their criminal activities now yielded results, so we went to look for them.

How were they caught?

The DPO of Girei Divisional Police Headquarters issued search warrants and their homes were searched. When their homes were searched, we found various arms and ammunition. But we could not get anything at the residence of Ibrahim Jakka, who is the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigerian chairman in Girei Local Government Area. We learnt from his younger brother, Isa, that he is the leader of the kidnapping ring. Ibrahim Jakka was identified as a central figure involved in the clashes between farmers and herders in the area.

Why are you and others vehemently against the earlier release of Jakka and others after their arrest?

It is because our lives are in danger. Secondly, it was not the police that caught them. We led the police to arrest Jakka and his gang to have peace in our community. There was a time when certain members of Jakka’s gang were arrested and taken to the police station and it was Jakka that was responsible for their release.

When a directive was about to be given for the release of some of the suspects arrested, which we got to know about it through our sources on the ground, we had to quickly stage the protest which helped to foil the plan. This is a security issue. But the orders came from above. The commissioner of police was given the order. If not for our protest, what happened when Jakka was released after his arrest, along with two members of his gang, would have been repeated.

The first time Jakka was caught with two members of his gang in a market, he boasted after his release that even if he was caught 10 times, he would be set free 10 times. When I learnt about his bail, I led about 30 stakeholders to meet with the commissioner of police.

The CP said he released Jakka because he denied being a kidnapper and promised to help the police arrest his brothers, whom he told the police were the kidnappers.

We later learnt from the CP that Jakka was granted bail (and asked) to bring the kidnappers after being taken to Abuja where he was released three weeks ago. Now, we are looking for Duna, Geide and Double who are relatives of Jakka. One of their brothers died and an informant told us that he spotted the wanted men at Damare.

He also said he spotted Geide, along with Ibrahim Jakka, Duna and Double. All the five wanted men were there, so we mobilised and went to where they were with Operation Farauta (an anti-crime outfit). We caught three of them. Geide, who was second on the police’s wanted list after Duna, was arrested but they left Ibrahim Jakka.

Even after the protest, I went to the commissioner of police to demand the rearrest of Ibrahim Jakka.

Why is the rearrest of Ibrahim Jakka so important to you?

His brother, Isa, has confessed that Jakka collected a ransom of over N1m. He mentioned the place and area. This same brother confessed that Ibrahim Jakka came to collect two AK 47 rifles and ransom from Geide, who was second on the police’s wanted list. Three of his brothers were involved in kidnapping and they have accused him of providing them with arms.

Are you alleging that the leader of the Miyetti Allah in Girei is involved in kidnapping?

Yes. Ibrahim Jakka is the leader of MACBAN in Girei. The link is that three of his blood brothers are suspected kidnappers. His younger brother, Isa, also confessed that he got two AK 47 rifles from Geide and Double.

When you arrested Jakka, did you question him before you handed him over to the police? What did he say?

Jakka said he was not a kidnapper and that he was just being accused falsely. Why should I believe him when he was always together with his brothers, who were kidnappers?

What is your next line of action now that he’s still at large?

Our next line of action is to urge the commissioner of police to order the arrest of Ibrahim Jakka over allegations that he’s in possession of a large cache of weapons used by the notorious kidnappers.

If Jakka is not a kidnapper, then he should be in a position to help the police to bring his brothers to justice.

After the protest, have the police reached out to you?

Yes. According to them, they don’t have the intention of releasing the suspected kidnappers. The commissioner said there was no way the Force could have asked the DPO to release the suspects, and that they were working for peace and order. But they ordered the DPO to relocate the suspect by 6pm to Criminal Investigation Department; that was why we suspected foul play. If you ordered the transfer of the suspects, why not take them in the morning? Why did you have to wait until evening? If I had not been at the police station at the time, the police station could have been burnt.

Now that Jakka and one other suspect are still at large, are you not afraid that you may be targeted?

Of course, yes. I even need the assistance of the commissioner of police for protection. I am an indigene of Girei, I live here and there’s nowhere else for me to go.

Have you engaged the state chapter of the Miyetti Allah to complain and urge them to get rid of the bad eggs among them?

If in my capacity as the leader of the youths, I can take up the gauntlet in fighting crime, I expect other senior stakeholders like the district head to wade into the issue since it involves a leader of Miyetti Allah. But as I speak to you, there’s indifference. But Girei will not be safe until Ibrahim Jakka and other members of his family suspected to be kidnappers, are arrested and brought to justice.

What do you think can be done to improve security in your area and the state?

If I say the security agencies have not been working, I would be unfair. All what has been achieved has been with the security agencies because we only assist them with information. The state governor is doing well; he gave us five motorbikes for our crime fighting activities. He also gave two vans to the police command in the local government area. One of the vans was used on the day we went to arrest the suspected kidnappers. But I would want to see more motivation from the government and synergy between the security agencies and the vigilance groups in the state.

But if there’s going to be peace in the council, the leadership of Miyetti Allah will have to step in because it is their leader in this council and members of his family who are allegedly behind insecurity in this area.

The government can look for the leadership of Miyetti Allah and seek the attention of traditional institutions so we can sit down and address the issues. We don’t want to believe Jakka’s claim that he only has two AK 47 rifles when we know he’s in possession of a large cache of arms.

Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Adamawa, Rev Lawan Andimi, was recently kidnapped by Boko Haram and a video was recently released. How bad is the security situation in Adamawa now?

The situation is not stable. Just recently, a DPO was kidnapped. Before he was kidnapped, some professors were kidnapped. The situation has been hot and cold. But recently, it improved due to the activities of the Department of State Services, police and other security outfits like Operation Farauta, being supported by the state government.

I am tempted to call this infamous critic a coward but I will muster the remaining unsapped strength left in me by Mama Ramotu to refrain from doing so.

Ogbeni, the moral of the story and the crux of the outrage is not in you being stopped by Fulani vigilante but in the existence of Fulani vigilante in a land outside theirs in a country that has vehemently opposed the existence of state policing and one that has championed the disarming of other vigilantes in the South.

The Yoruba community in Aberdeen do not have a vigilante neither do the Igbo community in Dallas have a special force to checkmate the excesses of their kinsmen.
It is the sole responsibility of the host community to defend and protect the integrity of their sovereignty.

The existence of armed Fulani Vigilantes in Yoruba land is ludicrously absurb, downrightly insulting and completely repulsive to the senses of anyone who understands the dynamics of a very ethinically-divided country like Nigeria.

Why will they be allowed to carry guns, when the vigilante in Ogbunike were asked to submit all rifles, while the ones at Aviele use just machetes?

We must not be tempted to think this will help in unifying the country or curbing the menace of killer Fulani herdsmen. It is a subtle surrender of liberty, and a semi recolonization.

All NwaAmaikpe will advice our Yoruba leaders is;

"If Ukpaka employs his barber to be shaving his wife's pubic hair, he should not complain when his next baby looks like his barber".

Prof. Ango Abudullahi’s Northern Elders Forum (NEF) just upped the ante — Fulani herders, battered, pummelled and demonised as unfazed crime champions of southern (read South West) forests, should leave the South and come home, up North!

Nigerian unity, the body quipped, should not be at the expense of the prized lives of herders; even as irate southern voices also growl that their farmers’ blood, allegedly being spilled by the rampaging herders, is not worth the expense of eating cow.

It was extremists’ clash and counter-clash. The good thing though, was that moderating and saner voices came slamming the return home diktat.

The President told the herders to ignore the NEF call. Surprisingly, that was one call the coterie of southern cynics and extremists didn’t feast on, as latest evidence of President Muhammadu Buhari’s “nepotism”. On that, all appears quiet on the southern front.

Nigerian unity, the body quipped, should not be at the expense of the prized lives of herders; even as irate southern voices also growl that their farmers’ blood, allegedly being spilled by the rampaging herders, is not worth the expense of eating cow.

The Southwest governors have also weighed in: banish the thought; the herders stay! Hardball has so far not picked up any whispering campaign, ridiculing these governors as effete house Negroes to the Fulani super-master — not yet, any way.

Both Abuja and South West capitals have earned commendation for those restraining voices. NEF’s was a dangerous challenge that echoed, all over again, the catastrophe of 1966, which climaxed in civil war. Both Abuja and the South West governors have rightly slammed it. It was the correct, noble and patriotic thing to do.

But again, that brink shows the roaring danger of ethnic profiling. Even if “Fulani herdsmen” were guilty of all the South West forest crimes adduced to them — highly unlikely — the NEF challenge proved that everyone, guilty or innocent, could play by ethnic blazes. It’s all a question of felt ethnic insults for that conflagration to flare!

That’s an ill wind that doesn’t blow any one any good. That is why sane and moderate voices must always take charge and dominate.

The principle of “banning” herdsmen from specific localities could apply to all spheres of life. That could put, in jeopardy, every Nigerian working outside his native area.

But that might just be the least of the crisis. It could easily snowball into targeted ethnic killings and counter-killings, since the driving force appears ethnic incense, not aversion to crime.

The Federal Government and South West governors have done well to shrug off the danger. But the next step must be identifying the criminals and openly make them pay.

Again, it goes without saying that the unity of purpose that weakened the NEF call is also needed to go after the criminals, and make South West forests safe again.

The people on their part must be wary of demagogues, pushing their personal loathing as collective ethnic ire. People should decry criminality, no matter where the criminal comes from.

That way, South West forests will be safe and secure again, without assailing the pride and ethnic consciousness of others, by wholesale dubbing them criminals without proof.

• Warn Fulani Domination May Trigger Genocide
• Southwest Senators, Leaders To Meet Over Region’s Challenges
• Meeting To Address Cracks, Forge Common Front For Yoruba

Yoruba elders in the Diaspora, under the aegis of the Yoruba Council of Elders in Europe and America, have petitioned the United Nations (UN) against the prevailing security situation in Nigeria, calling on the international body to prevent every attempt to foist Fulani dominance in the country, a situation they say may lead to crisis.

In the letter to the UN Secretary General, Mr. António Guterres by the Coordinating Secretary of the Yoruba Council of Elders, Elder Michael Olawale Shadare, the group alerted the world to the dangerous build-up to a possible genocide, owing to such grim occurrences as mindless killings and attempts by suspected Fulani herdsmen to acquire land forcefully with the support of the government in the southern part of the country.

The YCEEA, which said available intelligence pointed at a genocide about to happen on a scale never known before, and to be executed by armed people positioned strategically around the country with logistics back up, urged the UN Secretariat to make urgent and decisive intervention.

In a related development, disturbed by the rising spate of insecurity across the Southwest and simmering disagreements over perceived ideological differences among its leaders, Southwest Senators, under the auspices of Southwest Senators Caucus of the 9th Assembly, are making arrangement to convoke an all-Yoruba leaders and stakeholders meeting to discuss the various challenges besetting the region.

A National Assembly source told The Guardian that the meeting would address critical security issues, such as the ongoing tension between the Southwest and the North over armed alleged Fulani herdsmen activities, economic and political issues affecting Yorubaland, and the controversial demand for restructuring.

It is hoped that after the high-powered gathering, a bill would be raised and presented before the National Assembly for deliberation.IN the letter to the UN by the YCEEA, and copied to all Southwest Governors, traditional rulers and the Aare Ona Kakakanfo of Yorubaland, Chief Gani Adams, the Yoruba in Diaspora said if the UN Secretariat, the United Nations Assembly and United Nations Office on Genocide Prevention and the Responsibility to Protect do not act now, the resultant crisis in Nigeria would destabilise the entire West African region on a scale never known before.

Highlighting some of the problems in the country, Shadare said: “Several cases of major assaults and onslaughts against Yoruba have been reported to the knowledge of Yoruba Council of Elders Europe and America, in which victims narrated their experiences and that of their families in the hands of Fulani herdsmen. A popular example is the case of a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation in Nigeria, Chief Olu Falae, who suffered financial loss on his invaded farm, was kidnapped with ransome demanded, and his worker killed following repeated and incessant invasion of his farm by Fulani herdsmen.”

Painting the grim situation on hand, Shadare made reference to the call by a former Minister of Defence, General Theophilus Danjuma (rtd), in March 2018, on communities attacked by herdsmen in the country to rise up and defend themselves. Danjuma had said that it would be suicidal for people to continue to rely on the armed forces to defend them, asserting that government security forces were colluding with armed bandits to kill people, while also facilitating their movement.

Shadare alluded to yet another comment by a former Head of State, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, in which he itemised an ongoing agenda of Fulanisation and Islamisation of Nigeria. Warning against the escalation of the crisis, Shadare noted that the actions of the Federal Government continue to fuel a situation where those attacking innocent citizens enjoy advantage of resources and logistics (land, money, radio frequency/communication equipment) from government.

According to him, the Fulani herdsmen “benefit from the inaction of authorities. No single person has been prosecuted despite the scale of the killings in the North-Central. Yet, they benefit from wrong rules designed by authorities, which makes innocent citizens additionally weak and vulnerable.” Shadare also frowned on the declaration of withdrawal of licenced firearms by Executive order of President Buhari, saying that most Nigerians saw it as the final call in the Fulani’s attempt to suppress and put into extinction millions of Yoruba and other Nigerians.

“Nigerians are facing imminent danger, which resulted from the actions and inactions of the government that has continued to create an atmosphere that equip and embolden bandits, while threatening, weakening and disarming innocent citizens,” he said in the statement. On the other hand, The Guardian gathered that aside from security issues, the planned meeting of Southwest Senators and leaders would also be used to kick-start the process of bringing all warring factions of Yoruba leaders together.

Specifically, the Senators envisage that a lasting solution would be found to the lingering face-off between the factions of Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, which are led by Pa Reuben Fasoranti on one hand, Pa Ayo Fasanmi on another hand and the Afenifere Renewal Group (ARG) led by Mr. Wale Oshun.

The meeting would also be attended by such groups as the Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE), Yoruba Unity Forum (YUF), Yoruba Ronu, Council of Traditional Rulers, Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), and other notable Yoruba personalities across political party divides.

The source said: “Senators from the Southwest, irrespective of their political parties, seem to be uncomfortable with the sharp division among leaders of the region, especially the Pa Fasoranti’s faction, which feels excluded from the affairs of the region by the Fasanmi group, being allegedly financed and sponsored by the National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu and few stakeholders currently in control of the political structure.

“The meeting would enable all sides to table their positions on diverse issues. It is most likely that after the planned meeting, the Senators will lead a select team of leaders from all the groups to meet President Muhammadu Buhari to present a common front and set of demands for the Yoruba nation.”

While findings by The Guardian revealed that the Fasoranti faction of Afenifere would meet today in Lagos for deliberations, especially as to the workability of the planned meeting, deputy senate leader, Senator Ajayi Boroffice, who represents Ondo North senatorial district, said the noble idea would be thoroughly deliberated upon by his Southwest colleagues.

The spokesman of Afenifere, Mr. Yinka Odumakin and Mr. Kayode Aderemi, the media aide to Aare Onakankanfo of Yoruba Land, Otunba Gani Adams, however, respectively said they were disposed to the meeting’s agenda if it was in the interest of the Yoruba nation. Aderemi said that whatever the Senators propose in form of dialogue that would bring solutions to the challenges confronting the region was welcome.

The National Secretary of YCE, Dr. Kunle Olajide declared the initiative as a wise one that would go a long way in addressing some critical problems confronting not only the Southwest but the entire nation.

Why do they still want land in the south?

The part where you said let us stand in unity with our southern brothers is unecessary.

If we have to fight an assault, then there is no Nigeria after that. The separation of everything along ethnic lies must be the correct action to take.

If you are looking for numbers and alliance to fight fulani, we dont need southern Nigeria. What we need is Yoruba nations in Republic of Benin, Togo and Ghana forming a joint force.

Many of you often forget Yoruba has a spread across borders. They are part of a strategy.

The governors are only in place for political leadership. What we are seeing on the horizon calls for military leadership. Do we have a Yoruba Army? If we do they should be on standy. If we do not then we screwed up.

PoliticsRe: What Ojukwu Saw 50 Years Ago, Some People Need Ruga To See Today by MayorofLagos(m): 10:00pm On Jul 08, 2019
kingzizzy:
When Ojukwu rose to declare the freedom of his people from the British concocted country called Nigeria, some said he was stupid

When Ojukwu told them that these people would seek to kill and dominate his people, they didn't understand

When Ojukwu was fighting to liberate his people from the clutches of darkness, they called him unprintable names

Today, all Ojukwu warned about has come to pass

What Ojukwu saw 50 years ago, some needed Ruga to start seeing today.
Before Ojukwu, who was hindered by a mental illness syndrome, West and North had raised points to put secession and referendun in constitution. Ibos shut it down and said those people were unpatriotic. Ojukwu's vision was late.
PoliticsRe: Obasanjo Is Number One Problem Of Nigeria – Akiolu by MayorofLagos(m): 9:29pm On Jul 08, 2019
silverbirdng:
The Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, has said former President Olusegun Obasanjo is the biggest problem of the country.

Akiolu spoke at the public presentation of Battlelines: Adventures in Journalism and Politics, a book by a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Olusegun Osoba.

The event held at the Eko Hotels, Victoria Island, Lagos and was attended by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo; Senate President, Ahmed Lawan; Deputy Speaker, House of Reps, Ibrahim Wase; APC National Leader, Bola Tinubu; governors in the South West, Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, former governors, ministers, diplomats, traditional rulers, among others.

Akiolu had referenced a section of the memoir where Osoba claimed that Obasanjo deceived the then governors of the Alliance for Democracy and Afenifere.

The traditional ruler said he had always believed that the former president was deceptive.

He added that the knowledge sustained ex-Lagos Governor, Bola Tinubu.

“The problem we are having in this country is this and I will continue to say it that the number one problem of Nigeria is Obasanjo,” he said.

there is goodnews everyday, what i am trying to say is AFP a french owned(if i am right) media all it does is potray badnews and always claims to be first to talk to someone where the incident happens even when the area has no communication infrastructure in place.
News media and gun runners work hand in hand.

The gun runners create flash points of terror and provide safe corridors for news media to come in and syndicate reporting.
