Jarus, i see your reply above. While i know you are not Buhari's spokesman, i would like to hear your take on the issue i raised concerning him. Also i would be glad if you could point me to any article, post or comment where he addressed the issue at stake in my post. Cheers. |
We have heard all this grammar before. All the people want is a responsive govt that is seen to be working for them and not against them. He needs to check the state of the state's finances before biting more than he can chew. anyway, i wish him all the best. |
illusion2:very valid argument and one day i would like to hear from Jarus on the Sharia thing (don't want to hijack this thread). The reason you raised is the only reason why i am still withholding my vote from Buhari. If only he has spoken out against the senseless fundamentalism that have rocked Jos, Kaduna et al or made a definite pronouncement to address the hijack of the Sharia debate from religious jingoists who were using it for political and parochial gains. But he remained silent and still remains silent. His silence is deafening. My vote might be minuscule but it is not worthless. |
Muks, my apologies. Thanks for the assistance. |
illusion2:i disagree with this view. I do not agree with the fundamentals of his religion but he is an admirable muslim, at least on this forum. If we had more of his type in the world, the war on terror would be easier to win. |
FIFA is the most corrupt organisation in the world. No mafia can compare to it. not even PDP |

October 17, 2010 04:48PM print email The Dubai court of First Instance has ruled that the former governor of Delta State, James Ibori, be transferred to authorities in the United Kingdom, saying he has "a case to answer in the UK." The court ruled that Mr Ibori should be extradited to the United Kingdom to face charges of money laundering, credit card fraud and official theft. Mr Ibori, who was arrested in the Emirate by the International Police (INTERPOL) in May, now has 30 days to file for and receive an appellate decision. He was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly mismanaging N528 million shares of Delta State in Oceanic Bank a month before his arrest in the UAE after evading arrest in Nigeria. A warrant of arrest was also issued on him by the UK Metropolitan Police for money laundering. Mr Ibori's sister, Christine Ibie-Ibori, and his mistress, Udoamaka Okoronkwo (nee Onuigbo) have already being successfully prosecuted in the UK, for helping the former governor move an estimated £70 million worth of looted funds through several London banks. Both women are serving jail terms in a UK prison. Mr Ibori's wife, Theresa Nkoyo, and one of his UK-based lawyers, Bhadresh Gohil, are also currently facing trial in a London courtroom. Back |

Wayne Rooney has thrown Manchester United's season into a state of turmoil after informing the club he has no plans to sign another contract and intends to find new employers. Rooney's decision is based on serious differences with Sir Alex Ferguson, the Guardian understands, and will be a devastating blow to the supporters who have come to regard him as a talismanic figure in this troubled era under Malcolm Glazer's ownership. United may have no option now but to sell the England striker, possibly in the January transfer window, rather than risk his transfer valuation dramatically lowering now that he is only 20 months away from becoming a free agent. Rooney has always said he has no desire to play abroad and would like to remain in Manchester for the rest of his career, but his mindset has changed and his availability will inevitably attract interest from major forces such as Real Madrid and Barcelona. Manchester City may feel they have an outside chance of capitalising on what has gone wrong for him at Old Trafford, although their chances are undermined by the fact they already have a huge task ahead of them bringing down their wages to prevent Uefa banning them from European competitions under financial fair-play rules. The full details are not yet clear but the underlying fact is that Rooney now feels that his working relationship with Ferguson has suffered potentially irreparable damage in the fall-out from tabloid allegations about the striker's private life, coinciding with a dramatic loss of form and a growing sense that the most successful manager in the business has taken a hard-line approach with his player. Rooney has lost his place in the team, with Ferguson citing a supposed ankle injury, and the 24-year-old felt sufficiently emboldened last week to contradict his manager's version of events and make it clear he has not missed a single training session – and was, in essence, dropped for other reasons. What has not been established is whether these events have coincided with a disagreement about the amount of money he expected to earn in a new contract. United had been willing to make him the highest earner at the club, with a weekly salary of £150,000, and the club's chief executive, David Gill, had stated several times earlier in the year that the matter would be resolved as soon as Rooney was back from the World Cup. That now appears to have backfired on Gill, with the message already conveyed to senior figures at Old Trafford that Rooney is now counting down his days at the club. There remains a suspicion it might be a part of the negotiating process, but the Guardian has been informed that, for now at least, Rooney's mind is made up and that he and his family are already contemplating where next to take his career. If that remains the case, it threatens to be an even more devastating blow to the club than Cristiano Ronaldo's £80m transfer to Real Madrid last year given that it was widely known the Portuguese would eventually move to the Bernabéu. Rooney has always given the opposite impression, immersing himself in the fabric of the club, and now appears to be on the brink of being one of the few players to leave against their wishes. Ferguson has moved on some great footballers, including Ruud van Nistelrooy and David Beckham, but always prides himself on players not being sold unless he says so; in this case it seems clear that the decision was made by Rooney first. With United desperately trying to keep the matter in-house, Ferguson's views on the subject are not clear, other than he is known to be alarmed and angry about the headlines that Rooney has attracted because of his alleged relationship with a prostitute, Jennifer Thompson and mostly his faltering performances on the pitch. Some United fans will be angry that Rooney seems to have portrayed himself as the victim when it could be argued that he has brought these troubles on himself, but a rift has clearly developed between player and manager. Rooney has been in the worst form of his professional life for the last seven months, without a goal in open play since the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich in March. Most worryingly, he is showing few signs of emerging from his current slump. Nonetheless, he remains a hero to the United support and was regarded as the player who would help to ensure continuity and success once Ferguson, plus the likes of Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes, had retired. |
this may sound controversial but i will say it anyways; he may not lose his job in FIFA. FIFA is filled with corrupt, disgraced men and women. The whole FIFA hierachy is corrupt, probable the most corrupt organisation in the world. Sepp Blatter is worse than most African despots. that bloke from T&T is worse (Jack Warner). goggle the law case between him and the T&T squad from the 98 world cup. No wonder, members are barred from taking FIFA our its national associations to court. How a man like Amos Adamu can be rising like a comet in FIFA circles irrespective of his ineptitude at home and proven sleaze over time is a case to ponder. Ever wondered about that old clown called Issa Hayatou?who wants to die in office. FIFA protects its own. |

i'm not even convinced Anderson is really a player. Maybe he was taken on as a bus driver or a waiter and just ended up in the dressing room on a guided tour one day and stayed there. |

Fifa confirmed last night it will investigate allegations that two members of its committee have offered to sell their votes in the bid to stage the 2018 World Cup. The race to host the tournament became clouded in controversy after the Sunday Times reported that Amos Adamu, a Fifa executive committee member from Nigeria, was filmed negotiating a deal with an undercover reporter where he would be paid £500,000 for his vote. Adamu requested the money, which would be used to build four artificial football pitches in Nigeria, would be paid to him personally. The deal was allegedly finalised last month in Cairo when Adamu confirmed he would vote for the USA to host the 2018 World Cup. The USA has since withdrawn from the race and will focus on the bid for 2022. It was also claimed that the president of the Oceania Football Confederation, Reynald Temarii, asked for £1.5m to fund a sports academy in exchange for his vote. In his meeting with an undercover reporter in Auckland, Temarii alleged that Oceania had been offered sums between £6m and £7.5m for their vote by supporters of two rival bid committees. A statement from Fifa last night said: "Fifa and the Fifa ethics committee have closely monitored the bidding process for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups and will continue to do so. "Fifa has already requested to receive all of the information and documents related to this matter, and is awaiting to receive this material. "In any case, Fifa will immediately analyse the material available and only once this analysis has concluded will Fifa be able to decide on any potential next steps. "In the meantime, Fifa is not in a position to provide any further comments on this matter." England are competing to host the 2018 World Cup with Russia, and joint bids from Spain and Portugal, and Holland and Belgium. The Sunday Times quoted a former member of the Fifa committee downplaying England's chances of succeeding because they refused to offer such deals. "England have got all the good reasons why they should host it but they don't strike the deals , It's sad but true." |
By Yemi Adebowale with agency report, 10.15.2010 Nigeria will interview bookrunners for its planned $500 million debut global bond next week and set them to work immediately so as to complete the issue before year-end, Finance Minister Olusegun Aganga said yesterday in Abuja. Aganga said he had been advised that Nigeria could raise $1 billion, but he said the sole aim was to set a benchmark in the international capital market rather than to raise more funds than necessary. "We are trying to accelerate the process. We will be interviewing bookrunners in London next week and once we do that, they will be asked to start working immediately," Aganga told Reuters on the sidelines of a conference in Abuja. "At the moment, we have approval for $500 million. We are not tempted at this stage to go for $1 billion," he said, adding that Nigeria had access to cheaper funding if it needed it. A bookrunner, also known as the underwriter or issuing house, is the lead manager in a debt, equity or hybrid security issuance. When more than one bookrunner manages a security issuance, they are referred to as joint bookrunners. Aganga last week in Washington said that he expected the yield on the planned 10-year bond to be lower than nearby Ghana's Eurobond. "We hear that it is going to be very good, but at this stage I would rather leave it to the market," he said yesterday. Yields on African eurobonds have fallen to all-time lows in recent weeks as investors seek better returns than in more established markets and as perceptions of risk in Africa improve. Ghana's 10-year Eurobond has traded as low as 5.617 percent recently, its lowest since it was issued in 2007. Investors were showing strong interest in the planned Nigerian bond, and one had indicated he was willing to take up $350 million of the $500 million issue, Aganga said. But not all analysts share his optimism, noting that elections due in April, high government spending and lower foreign exchange reserves were fuelling uncertainty. Last week, Aganga, while in Washington for the International Monetary Fund and World Bank meetings, said Nigeria was determined to complete the bond issue this year despite the fact that no date has been set and repeated delays. "We wanted to do this earlier but we intend to do this before the end of the year," said Aganga. The planned 10-year bond is intended to set a benchmark in the international capital market for Nigeria, Africa's biggest energy producer, and that should make it easier for its companies to borrow longer-term funds. London-based Barclays Capital and FBN Capital have been named financial advisers for the bond issue. |
could anyone enlighten me on how Okah got a permanent residency in SA. Is there any info in public domain? one of the articles say the SA govt is looking into it. |
ha ha ha!!!! Chamo, i beg leave VDS, these things happen. we need to start taking our chances. That was the problem again today. another problem is Anderson. Don't even get me started on that Arrow |
Beaf:I have never believed Okah for one minute and my previous posts bear me out. However, i think your post above is erroneous. arm sales is not like buying a car or a bicycle at trade fairs or at a mall. the industry is a dark art and filled with middle men. |
have you guys seen his bill board poster? They look like nollywood posters. |
At least he has dealt with the issue of Owen Hargreaves, who is not in contention to face the Baggies despite the statement of his knee surgeon Dr Richard Steadman earlier this week that the midfielder was going to play. Hargreaves is suffering from a minor calf complaint and Ferguson is clearly unimpressed with Steadman's interjection. "Owen is not ready," said the United boss. "He is injured. He has missed training for the last few days. We are having difficulties with the doctor in Colorado coming out with statements that are not accurate. "It is not fair to the player for him to say Owen is going to be playing tomorrow. It is ridiculous. I pick the team and I have been doing it for quite a while. We have this small interference, which is causing some confusion. He is out with a calf injury." |
you are on a very long thing. unless you consider going to the movies or you are into drinking, you are doomed to a boring life in PH. |
Hello guys and gals, I need some help. one of my folks is flying back to Naija from london and is in need of a cheap one way ticket (mid december date). She is going on an Arik flight (the return leg of a return ticket) and is in need of options for the return leg. one way only. She is unwilling to buy Arik for the return, has seen a few options but they seem too unreasonable and i asked her to let me throw it open to the house as i have found helpful tips and comments in similar situations in times past. Thanks. |
The man is a clown but worse fraud have taken place in the country. Infact there is no greater fraud than PDP. |
lalaboi:so this year? |
Hargo is on his way to Ikotun to see T.B. Kanu gave him directions. He needs it. |
How Great is our God - Chris Tomlin. |
mukina2:insect repellent? i hope not cos i have some bad news if it is. |
ziddy:this is the crux of the matter that the govt does not have the moral or political will to address. a major reason why i think that GEJ is not and can never be the change we need in 2011. Ibime:my man, i have tried to tell you ever since i joined this forum that this thing is nothing but criminality. the only ideology in this struggle is money. the only difference is the refined approach a couple of intelligent ones among them employ but the end product is one and the same. the alignment of forces are as fluid as water and it is all based on where each individual's interest is best served at that point in time. In the very near future,Okah and these fellows would be realigned and sing from the same hymn book. it is all about interest and make no mistake the interest of the suffering ND masses plays no part here. Each and everyone of these militants have becoming stupendously rich in the struggle, yet the ND masses remain as impoverished as ever and banditry and criminality have not only taken over the the ND but has spread to the rest of the country and the boot of the oppressors remain firmly on the neck of the oppressed. You call this a struggle? maybe, a struggle for the wealth of the ND. |
T9ksy:una no go kill me with laff. |
^^^ it depends om your employer. the foreign ones (read multinationals) play by the rules and you have around 25% as taxes. but with the Nigerian ones, the books are so bend that it is alarming. with them, you can pay as little as 5% or even less. |
