i am obviously no fan of Ikpeba but as a little defence, the fact that he has not lived in english speaking countries for the last 20 years does not help his pronunciation skills whatsoever. |
i have been concerned about this situation for a while. sometimes when you complain, you are said to be an afro-pessimist. The truth is that something is wrong with our footballers. someone like Ikpeba who played for top clubs like Dortmund, Monaco and Liege can not bring an insightful analysis into a game beyond what i an arm chair follower of the game can see is a sad indictment. The less said about Amokachi, the better. Keshi is no better and he has to keep up that phony silly accent in order to continue conning gullible african countries. the earlier we realise that most of these ex-internationals are empty up stairs as it concerns the game, the better for us. I would love to hear Siasia analyse a few matches on tv before i conclude on him. However, i know he is a sharp man and would only expose himself after he has signed that jumbo contract with those bunch of frauds called NFF. I have listened to a few players who played with these ex-internationals of ours dissect the game and i respect them. listen to men like Seedorf or Marcel Desiily (i will stick to black brothers for obvious reasons), they make insightful comments that make you want to rewind the play and see what you missed. Charles Anazodo a Nollywood sports journalist. All he has to offer is is fine face and charming smile. Completely empty. In any other field, he would have long being sacked gross ineffectiveness. google men like Jonathan Wilson and Gabriele Marcotti and see how knowledgeable football journalists are. the likes of Charles Anazodo just live for the estacodes and free matches. |
the preceeding comments justify the argument that Pep goofed big time. had he not been watching Zlatan in the past and see that he was not a fit both as a player and as a person? most especially considering the amount involved. honeric01:Busquet does not deserve to be dropped and if Masc replaces him, you will have another unhappy player trying to rock the boat a la Yaya. I see a situation where Pep will try to fit both and that is where wahala go dey. |
mbulela:or they just share the same supplier? |
all these idiots polluting Nolywood and preventin g the industry from growing to its full potentials. This is no actress by any stretch of the word. |
honeric01:That is not a sensible argument. Only money miss roads like Man city put out such arguments. two things are abvious; either one of them wants out by the end of the season or the system is jigged to fit them and someone else will loose out in the team. but why fix it if it ain't broken? If yaya was a sub (a role he was unhappy with),why bring in a player of slightly higher pedigree to replace him (as a sub?)? well, time will tell. |
i don't have much regard for Omotola but seeing this weaves on her daughters,i feel pity for any kid with such a mother. At this young age?? What happened to simple hair dos?? davidylan: |
Is this guy related to governor Adebayo Akala? |
honeric01:If it was Sir Alex or Wenger or even Benitez, we will not hear the last of it. Now everyone has been trying to justify the unjustifiable. I don't think Pep smokes weed but i guess he must have smoked one for the 1st time the day he allowed this silly thought pass out of his lips. It is not like Eto'o has been all that at Inter but for the value of the deal and the known ability of both players, Inter should send a christmas hamper to the Barca board every xmas for the next 25 years. |
Their is a lot of ignorance on this page.both by the governor and by the guy who quoted 40 million USD. While it would cost some money to implement location based services, it is no where near 40 million USD (not even Naira). The more important fact is that it is a value added service (VAS) and subscribers have to subscribe to it and pay for it, then the provider provides to those specific subscribers. You can't just have operators providing location info on each and every subscriber to everyone that desires it.What sort of anarchy are you inviting? Another fact is that while it is not strictly location based service in its truest sense, operators can presently monitor a call and determine the location of the movile down to about 300m radius of the location. I know several car snatchers that have been detected after they kept calling for ransom or using the car owners phone to make calls who were traced by staff of network operators while they were active on the network. the problem arose from the fact that it became a side business for some staff of the operators and it is actually illegal. Operators can still do it but they will request for a few bureaucratic steps including a police order.obviously the thieves (kidnappers) and will not be sitting at a spot while you get the police or court order. |
due to my irregular visits here in recent weeks, i missed the begining of this thread. any hope for late comers? Pharaoh, my previous saviour, are you in the house? tkb any sure for a chronic late comer like me? |
AjanleKoko:Oga, how you dey? been a while. I dropped you a line. try and get back to me when you can. cheers, |

PUFF PUFF DON BEGIN TURN TO BUNS!!! Orji Kalu: Twist in Lady’s Death Saga From Tokunbo Adedoja in New York, 08.26.2010 Is it true that there were five persons present when 47-year old Ms. Chinwe Masi died at the Potomac, US residence of former governor of Abia State, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, Thursday last week? This has become a subject of controversy as a blood relation of the lady told THISDAY yesterday that only Kalu and Masi were in the house at the time of the incident. However, when THISDAY sought further clarification from the source that was quoted in yesterday's report, he maintained that there were no fewer than five persons at the residence on that fateful night. Masi’s relation, who does not want to be identified, insisted only Kalu and Masi were at the house. The relation also said the aspect of the story that Masi went to deliver some bottles of perfume to the former governor was not correct, and wondered why Kalu was yet to get in touch with Masi’s family after the tragedy. A source who claimed to be among the persons at the former governor's Potomac residence at the time of the tragic incident, had told THISDAY: "He (Kalu) told them (the police) that he met her at Montgomery County Mall in June when he went to shop and forgot two bottles of perfume at the store. He told the police that when he returned to US upper weekend, Chinwe, who was a senior staff of the high flying fashion store, called him last Tuesday that he would be bringing the perfume and that was why she came to his residence.” But Masi’s relation told THISDAY yesterday: “The perfume story is not true. When Chinwe met the former governor at the shopping mall, they exchanged numbers. Chinwe was planning to come to Nigeria, so OJ (Chinwe’s pet name for Orji Kalu) said they could meet up. But they never met up in Nigeria. So when Chinwe got back to the US, OJ called her and fixed an appointment for last Thursday. OJ had already given her some money. “OJ said Chinwe should come in the evening because he was fasting. She asked him why he was fasting, if he was a Muslim and OJ said he was a Catholic but he liked to fast along with Muslims during Ramadan. So they fixed an appointment for Thursday evening. Chinwe even missed the way to OJ’s house, because that was her first time there. She told me everything that was transpiring between them. Chinwe and I were very close. She never hid anything from me. In fact, she told me the clothes she was going to wear for the date.” This is the full text of the email from Masi’s relative: “Chinwe met OJ sometime early June at the store where she worked as a fragrance model. He came in to make some purchase at her stand and left a generous tip of 300 dollars to her. He did not forget any cologne at the store. “At this point they probably exchanged numbers but she wasn't aware of who he was. They spoke on phone several times but never met until after a few days later when he sent her a cheque through his aide/driver who came and dropped it off at her apartment. She came to Nigeria on the 30th of June and did not see OJ but they did speak. The reason they didn't see was because he had wanted her to spend just a week with her relatives and then join him in Lagos to go to Abuja and then his hometown but she also complained to her friends and family that she found him a bit too controlling! (She used this word specifically). She didn't see him all through her stay! “She left Nigeria last week Tuesday (same day OJ claimed that she called to return his perfume). She spoke with him though after she arrived at the US and they agreed to see on Thursday at his residence in Potomac. On that fateful day, she spoke several times with a close relative on the West Coast and set out to meet with him for dinner at his residence. She arrived there at about 9pm (Maryland time) and checked in with her relative on the West coast. The conversation lasted a few minutes and her relative also spoke with OJ. She described her conversation with him as being somewhat cold and even a bit brusque. He handed the phone back to Chinwe and while the deceased continued to exchange pleasantries, OJ said to her to wrap up the call and speak later with her relative. “At about 3.30am Maryland time, the police called the deceased's relative on the West coast to pronounce her (Chinwe) dead and make inquiries as to the last time they had spoken. They told the relative that OJ had called 911 after he claimed that he was lying down watching TV while Chinwe was in a separate bedroom. He said he heard her call for help and he got up to see her trying to come down the staircase. Halfway down, she fell down the rest of the flight of stairs and he called 911. There was no one else at the residence to corroborate this story and this is the statement he gave the police. So far the autopsy is still pending but the deceased's home was searched for any traces of medication she might have been taking for any ailments or sicknesses. Nothing of significance was found. The detective in charge Deena Mackie was at the scene and also took statements from OJ and led the search in her apartment. “Chinwe was a robust lady who was full of life and joy. Always laughing and had a big heart. She would be missed dearly.” However, the source who narrated Kalu’s side of the story to THISDAY as reported yesterday, maintained that there were at least five persons that witnessed the tragedy. "What I told you is the truth. What your paper reported is the truth. Why don't we wait for police report on the issue?" he said. Kalu himself cannot speak for legal reasons, as the police are said to have placed a gag order on him in order not to jeopardise investigation. When THISDAY sought further clarification from the Homicide Section of the Montgomery Police Department, an officer, Paul Starks, said: "As far as our investigation is concerned, we are not going to confirm how many people were in the house. We are awaiting results from the medical examiner's office about the cause of death". Blanca Kling, an officer at the Homicide Section, had earlier told THISDAY: “It is an undetermined death and we are waiting for the results from the autopsy from the chief medical officer. The result usually takes several weeks [to come out], but there were no signs of foul play.” THISDAY had quoted a source yesterday as saying “Chinwe arrived at the residence at about 8:30pm and all this happened just within 30 minutes.” The source added: "We asked her to join us as we were drinking red wine. She said no, she would not drink red wine, that she was going for soda or Guinness. Luckily we had Guinness in the fridge. She took the small Guinness and we were drinking red wine. After about fifteen minutes, I heard her shouting, My chest, my chest. "The next thing, she started vomiting blood. We rushed to her and asked if she was asthmatic, but she said no, she had high blood pressure. Immediately, the [former] governor (Kalu) rushed to the phone and called the ambulance and the police. And they came immediately. The ambulance arrived first and the paramedics were trying to take her into the ambulance when she gave up the ghost. "At that point, the ambulance people said they would not be able to take her away until the police arrive. When the police came, they told us to come outside and wait. They were in the house for eight hours searching everywhere. And the police came in with all their equipment. They took the former governor's blood, his fingerprint and his statement. "They gave him paper to sign and said they needed to search his house. First, they asked him whether the lady used cocaine, but the [former] governor told them that she didn't use cocaine and he does not use cocaine. We were also told to write our statement, which we did." |
ziddy:If this stark illiterate with no discernible ideology is the best hope of any household let alone a tribe, then i give up. |
i thought they said he is gay? |
i raised a related issue in my post a few pages back and i want to raise it again because i would like to hear the views of those in and around PH. I was in PH for a few weeks days back and while i can confirm that Amaechi is working, i am greatly distressed at the quality of work. All the roads without exception are in very bad states and those that have been constructed barely 6,7 months ago already have huge gulleys dotting them. Besides awarding huge contracts and being praised to high heavens are the people of PH and Rivers state in general not worried that their money is being spend on sub standard projects (especially the road projects as this is my primary concern and secondly because these are the most expensive)? are these jobs being awarded to party members and God fathers with no requisite experience in road construction? is this not as bad as doing nothing? why suffer so much inconvinence in the name of road construction if the resultant roads will barely last a rainy season? I hope after the war of waterfronts (watewrside) is settled, it will not go the way of the old teaching hospital? I doubt anyone will question Amechi's intents and visions, however, the planning and execution is grossly sub-standard. |
Jarus:Thanks for humbly accepting the accusation ![]() |
serves him right for shutting down traffic on all major roads just because this illiterate was coming to town. Amaechi is working hard but he has to pay close attention to the quality of work being done around the city. I have first hand knowledge having paid a short visit to the city. The quality of all road jobs in the city are horribly sub-standard. How a sane governor can spend billions building such crap quality roads beggars belief. I am horribly disappointed. I wish Jonathan would lose,if only to put this illiterate wife of his in her place. Amaechis should remember to remove all those obscene billboards that were mounted to welcome this silly woman into town. Those things are defacing the town and should not last more than this weekend. |
CHARLY BOY KC PRESH EMPRESS NJAMAH JIM IYKE TIMAYA |
ha ha ha ha !! |
the same way some NUJ leaders collected transport money from Akwa Ibom state governor. Thank God for kidnappers, that which was meant to be hidden was unravelled. A journalist that accepts gifts is a journalist that sells the news. Before you believe everything you read in the Nigerian media, ask yourself, WHO WAS THE HIGHEST BIDDER IN THIS STORY? |
A journalist that accepts gifts is a journalist that sells the news. A journalist that sells the news is a crook. There is no diplomatic way of putting it. |
^^^ it seemed Thisday had the highest number of editors in the house that day? I will not be too surprised. After all, they are presently rehabilitating Azu, formerly of Punch. If the unrefuted accusations that were raised about Azu was raised about a politician, TELL and THE NEWS would have gone to town with titles like 'Face of a crook' or such sensational titles and covers. Now it is one of their own, Thisday has turned to a rehabilitation centre. All these journalists are good at is blowing bug grammar and practising flowery prose on a gullible public. I said it earlier, the corruption in Nigerian police and Nigerian politician are overtly obvious due to the nature of their jobs. The Nigerian journalist are no better. After going to Minna and posing in the front seat of the group foto (i just saw it mins ago), Ijeoma has the effrontery to write the epistle she wrote today? Such guts!!! |
which of them was among the crowd of 40 that collected transport money from Minna? |
Pete Edochie is over rated and his views are personal and not worth much. He should stuff his comments in a very dark corner. |
