AgricultureRe: My Poultry Diary by mcdokwe(op): 9:50pm On Sep 07, 2020
The three weeks old birds are receiving less attention now but currently weigh approximately 1 kg.

I no sell again, I have about 10 left and people still think it is expensive @ 900 naira after all my efforts, thank goodness I never raised them with the intention to sell, now I'm going to watch them grow for my personal delight and consumption.

The cockerels have been acquired and fully integrated into the brooding room.

Their tiny legs no be here, with what's been said about them, na only pity dey make me still leave dem for my brooder and feeding them with chicken feed instead of chaff.

Nearly burnt my birds trying to keep them warm embarassed but thankfully they're all fine.

The broilers have clocked one week and are still 100% intact.

In all we have 102 birds in our brooder.

Stressful but fun-filled still.

Harvest is best after four months for it to attain full maturity.

Okay I'd like some for lease
Hoe much do they charge??
I just asked my village chairman and he said you or your representative will have to be present at the community gathering for deliberations.

Note that my community hosts the ULONNA NORTH FARM SETTLEMENT established by Michael Okpara.

Is land still available in abia state ??
If yes how much can I get a cheap land
I don't know o, but in my community, I'm sure land for cultivation won't be a problem if you want to lease but can't say much about purchase.

How long did it take you to plant all this ? Get a Petrol powered bush cutter and expand the farm. Sweet Potato has more potential than how you are taking it and it does well even if planted on flat ground. It is a very resilient and good Economic crop and it will also feed your family well.

There is the video of a Commercial Sweet Potato farmer from Senegal he Cultivates 20 hectares and is doing very well.

.A petrol powered bush Cutter will cost about N32,000 but will help you cultivate more land for the sweet potato fast and sweet potato grows year round in Nigeria. Just use cuttings from your current plants.

It is a very good step you have taken. Sweet potato cultivation is very rewarding and it is one of the healthiest plants to eat both leaves and tubers.
cultivation lasted less than a week, but my lazy ass planted for close to a month.

I had thought of farm machineries but can't afford any for now. Thanks

ferhyntorlah:
Well done sir.

I like this variety of sweet potato.

Did you cultivate it for personal consumption?
yes ma, I did. Selling was never part of the plan. I may only sell if they get rotten easily, otherwise I may have to keep it for consumption.

True, there's no rationale behind the exorbitant prices of doc even with the demand. It's just wickedness to me. C'mon, why should the price of any broiler doc be 450 for the love of Godhuh!!!! The prices are determined by two gladiators in the hatchery business & we all know what's playing out. It is well oooo.

To crown it all up, you get adulterated birds in place of your original orders. Local hatcheries ain't smiling at all.

I wish you all best of luck, but as for me and myself, we are gradually librating ourselves from the shackles of this unwarranted increment in prices by using. . .
Biko complete it na... I get, you hatch your eggs yourself. I pray I be like you when I grow.

Wow!!! That's quite on the high side. What do you mean by vaccination again if I may ask? or didn't you say they were DOC again? Enlighten me huh
Chineke m eh!

The 'lasota' they give them. I compared the price on afrimash website and thought the difference is negligible.

I thought it was expensive too but Wetin I go do as the price comparison I did around umuahia proved hers was cheaper.

I bought the first @490 they said it was agrited tongue embarassed cry

Even among the so called learned ones, but we criticize those who are true to themselves for wanting out of a broken enclave with the shout of 'one Nigeria'

God ep us

Only a handful sisters can keep the code.

I work around girls and their compliments na wash.

They will tell you how beautiful your hair is, ask you the price and tell you it's like you made it yesterday as it is still fresh only to say the hair looks very horrible and say they don't think you have a mirror for daring to wear the hair out once you leave.

This right here is the point I am making. in my experience raising broilers, people don't know that all those antibiotics are detrimental to the final consumers health. how many farmers observe the stipulated withdrawal period? I advocate a completely organic production of broilers where natural things are used........its more effective and cheaper
The woman I buy drugs from for my chicks scare me a lot about the cost of running organic whenever I broach the idea to her
