gatiano:Delusions of grandeur. |
gatiano:You are an NOI member. No need to pray about it. Your twaddle about Elijah Muhammad and blah gave you away. Ah! Nah I don't subscribe to either black or white supremacist delusions. And I'm no fan of the Caucasian hippie Jesus or any of the other Jesuses for that matter. |
MizMyColi:With the same pics? |
Killjoy, do you mean charcoal pencils? Can 2B,4B,6B etc., be regarded as charcoal pencils. |
Tell this on and on to Christians but they'll not listen. They insist that the Bible is infallible even in the face of evidence of fabrications, falsifications and forgeries in the supposed holy writ. |
^^^ I see you belong to the Nation of Islam, eh? |
Pr0ton:Exactly. |
TEXT: Genesis 30:25-43 As can be seen in our text, Jacob was quite an extraordinary man. I feel it necessary to acquaint the reader with our subject Jacob. The reader might be familiar with the story of the patriarch Abraham, who himself was an extraordinary and unnatural man par excellence. This Jacob is the grandson of Abraham. His father, Isaac, and mother, Rebekah, had twin sons: Esau and our humble Jacob. Isaac proved to be as unnatural a father as his own father Abraham; for he loved only one of his sons, i.e. Esau, because he often brought him tasty wild game porridge. So it happened that Isaac thought he was about to die. He called Esau, and commanded him to go hunt and prepare that tasty wild game porridge that he so relished, so that he might satiate his gastric hankering and simultaneously give him his final blessing. Well, to cut a long story short, our Jacob doublecrossed both father and brother and got the blessing instead. Esau was devastated and vowed to kill him. Now, the reader might be flummoxed about why this "blessing" from a dying father was of so much importance, that one would want to kill for. Well, in those days, a lot of things we regard as trivial, petty or quibbling today, meant a lot. And abstracts were indeed most tangible. Any wonder why a "birthright" could be traded for red stew? Yes, one day Esau( also called Edom because he loved red stew) came home terribly famished, and so he "sold his birthright" to Jacob for a plate of red stew. Thus, Esau vitiated himself; for in those days a birthright was a tangible thing that could be traded for other things. Jacob(meaning "supplanter" )lived to the true meaning of his name these two times, not by coincidence, for nothing happened by coincidence in those days. It can be correctly conjectured that his parents knew that he would become a supplanter and thus named him so. This might seem incredible to the reader, but as I hinted afore time, these were really strange times and strange people lived in them. Jacob also had an uncanny affinity for blessings and could never have his fill. He went on to wrestle with God himself, and guess what his request was? "...bless me" (Gen 32:26). But this wasn't his most extraordinary feat as we shall soon see. Jacob's parents christened him "supplanter" but they had no idea how far he would go in this predestined career. They had no idea that he would make a groundbreaking discovery in the scientific field of "genetics" while being about his supplanting. In our text, Jacob requested leave from his uncle, boss and father-in-law, Laban, after serving him for many years. Laban declined and attempted to placate Jacob in order to make him stay. Jacob then requested for all the speckled, streaked, spotted and dark coloured animals among Laban's flock. Laban assented. Jacob was contented and smacked his lips. Laban, being a myopic, dull and slow-witted bovine-brained dimwit, had no idea what Jacob, our very shrewd, sagacious and wise man, had in the works. Laban left Jacob and the latter went back to tending to the former's bovine creatures. One early morning, amid the chirping and tweeting of birds, Jacob set out for the woods. He collected fresh-cut branches from the poplar, almond and plane trees and began to walk back home. Once he got home, he began peeling off the bark from the branches, creating white stripes in the peeled off areas. He then proceeded to place these branches in the drinking troughs of the flock. At this juncture, Rachel his wife, who had just awoken, beheld him curiously and incredulously. "What might you be about this early morning, dear husband?",she queried. Jacob ignored her in the guise of engrossment in work. She probed further, then he told her. She burst into a most hysterical laugh. This rankled Jacob and he asked angrily, "wife, why do you laugh so?" She replied by telling him without mincing words that he was about a foolish enterprise, to which he retorted, "we shall see!" Jacob had told his wife that he intended to breed a slew of sturdier speckled, streaked and spotted bovines by means of making the flock mate in front of the branches he had put in their drinking troughs. Now, the reader might well agree with Rachel that Jacob was about a foolish enterprise and that no such thing as he had expected would happen, but no, Rachel was confounded and flustered as I suspect the reader would be too; for it did happen as Jacob expected. Yes! Jacob was able to breed more speckled and spotted bovines by means of placing them in front of a striped branch! And by this means, he ensured that majority of the young ones born were spotted and speckled. He also ensured that the spotted and speckled were the sturdiest of all the offsprings. So, the slew of sturdy spotted ones went to Jacob and the few weak unspotted ones went to Laban. Thus, Jacob uncannily and successfully conned Laban, and became a very rich man, living to the true meaning of his name once again while unwittingly and simultaneously making a groundbreaking and precise discovery in the field of genetics ere Gregor Mendel was born. |
Eleojo23, nice post as usual. |
I have eaten the coconut. I have drunk the coco milk. I am made whole. I have found the true God. Bless the Sacred Coconut! Bless the most holy prophet Ka! Cocoluyah! |
Mynd44:Hehe |
Seems like she was asked to make a funny face, and she obliged her requestor. I love this woman. ![]() |
eleojo23:Lol. Couldn't agree more. |
theunusualmoon:The foreknowledge of God should have made him see what havoc this "free will" would cause in his supposedly "good" creation. It is sad that he allows the free will of some to override others. And like someone has already noted, some disastrous occurrences in life (e.g. natural disasters) are totally independent of anybody's free will, yet they happen frequently. Doesn't seem like something a most beneficent good would allow. |
All the theatrics on Emmanuel TV aren't enough to convince any disinterested viewer. Only those who've shut their minds and have a vested interest in T. B. Joshua are convinced by his shenanigans. |
So then that flesh contains the DNA of Jesus? Is it safe to say y'all practice cannibalism? And why does this Eucharistic miracle happen only among Catholics? Why not among Protestants too? I think that would at once convince them of the truth of transubstantiation. |
Unibenstudent:You sure Jesus wasn't scared? Remember his time in Gethsemane, how he prayed for the cup to pass? It baffles me that Jesus prayed so. Since he was mighty sure he was born for that purpose and would wake up barely 3 days later, why did he attempt to evade his very purpose? |
AjFive:This is very true. In my area in Lagos it was more than pathetic. The Baale always brought his own candidates which were burqua wearing Muslim women and long-bearded Alfas, even though some of us had been waiting at the registration centre as early as 5 a.m. Some of the officials even took money to register people. Big old and young women/men fought each other. A terribly chaotic setting. Imagine doing all these to vote a bunch of animals who don't and won't give a f.u.ck about you after being voted. 2. LACK OF SECURITY.This is enough reason not to vote. No politician is worth losing your life over. |
cannonnier:Yeah something like: "I like your Christ but not your Christians." |
Haba OP! The Buddha existed long before Jesus did. Buddha and Christianity are absolutely anachronistic! I think you're mistaken here. The fellow in your story is supposedly Mahatma Gandhi. I don't know how true the story is with respect to Gandhi. |
Boss13:That is what poverty and neglect can do to a people's psyche. |
Boss13:Lol...wetin person no go hear? |
Boss13:What are you talking about? |
The question I always ask about these purported miracle workers is this: if indeed they can do fantastic deeds like healing HIV,blindness, raising the dead etc.,why doesn't the world take them seriously? Why doesn't the media broadcast and publish these things? Why do we always have to take the word of these healers or their sycophants for it? You want us to believe fantastic and extraordinary things are happening at certain church meetings and the world just chooses to ignore you because of unbelief? Someone mentioned John G. Lake here. Lake claimed that he was mightily used by God to heal a certain plague that hit SA in the early 20th century. He even said he asked a doctor to collect fumes from the corpse of a dead victim and put it in his(Lake's) hands, claiming the microorganisms will die. And he further tells us that they did die when observed under the microscope. A most fantastic deed indeed! But is there any external, disinterested or independent evidence corroborating Lake's claim? Not that I know of. The same applies to the many supposed faith healers: A.A. Allen, Wigglesworth, Branham et al. Lake the faith healer died of a stroke at 65 in 1935 after making many outrageous claims that made him seem superhuman. He was just a man after all. |

and he cared so much to share it.
