A controversial conference on witchcraft began on Tuesday at the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), Enugu, South-East Nigeria, despite opposition from Christian communities within and outside the university. Enugu state is predominantly Christian. Witchcraft, including anything associated with it, is regarded as satanic by the majority of the people in the state. The leadership of UNN stopped short of forcing the organisers to cancel the conference because of pressure, PREMIUM TIMES learnt. A Nigerian journalist, Patrick Egwu, who is attending the two-day conference, told PREMIUM TIMES that the venue has been shifted to a bigger hall – Princess Alexandra auditorium – because of the large turnout of participants. Participants stood up and said ‘amen’ to an opening prayer which was said by a priest, Mr Egwu told PREMIUM TIMES. Christ Church choir of the university sang the opening hymn at the conference. “It was more like a normal church event, people calling Jesus and praying that the aim of the event should be achieved,” Mr Egwu said. The journalist said the word ‘witchcraft’ was removed from the conference banner in order to lessen the controversy around it, but that every discussion at the conference centered on witchcraft. More than 500 people were already seated midway into the conference, he said. “There’s no protest going on here, at all. Every where is calm, people are just enjoying the lectures,” he said. “One of the keynote speakers just finished presenting his lecture and (he) received a standing ovation. It was really interesting, people were clapping hands and enjoying the presentation,” Mr Egwu said. A group, Witchcraft Human Rights Information Network, has a stand outside. There are other stands selling witchcraft-related books and items. “People are outside, trying to pick copies of books,” Mr Egwu said. “The noise, the controversy, and the threats actually made the conference to be more popular. It made people to be interested in it. People are still trooping in, even the hall is almost filled up.” Mr Egwu said the aim of the conference, according to the organisers, is to demystify witchcraft. “It’s something that has been there for centuries, every poor widow or every small child that is malnourished, they will tag him a witch,” he said. PREMIUM TIMES asked Mr Egwu what attracted him to the conference. “When I saw the banner, I said wow, this is really innovative, this is something I should attend to know what it’s all about. Then when the debate started coming up, I said no matter what, even if I am out of the country, I am going to come back to be part of this event,” said Mr Egwu, a member of the Catholic Church. “I grew up hearing the world witchcraft, I really want to learn a lot about it, what is happening, does it exist, what’s the connection between witchcraft and Christianity. “Some people who called themselves Christians wake up at night, burning candles and praying for their enemies to die by Holy Ghost fire. Is it not an act of witchcraft? “When white people do magic, we hail them. When they do their Halloween, which to me is more like devilish, we hail it, but we condemn our own local masquerades.” https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/365300-witchcraft-conference-kicks-off-in-nigeria-despite-opposition-from-christians.html?fbclid=IwAR17enmZVNWwvbBWyOIjP7m1o_oH35RETcmCkeTLm1MlncJL2EQaPfsbOS0 |
Since these oils are fully Synthetic, Do you also sell oil filters because I will be needing that. I will be needing both in Port Harcourt. |
Hoodbilonia:Why did you mention only the East, Does this mean that a car that the custom duty has not being paid can be driven freely before Ore but immediately it wants to cross Ore, it will be impounded? Also, the cars heading to the northern part of the country, do they pass through Ore, if they don't, where do they pass? And is there a Road Check Point like the one you mentioned in your post. I really need to understand and unravel some things. I was traveling from Lagos to the East and when we got to somewhere around Benin, custom officers were stopping different vehicles, asking and checking if they were carrying rice. I asked myself why we were not stopped before this point and does it mean, you are free to carry and eat this so called rice before this point? Too many questions begging for answers. |
Please, can someone help with a good and honest Mechanic or Auto Shop for Toyota Vehicles in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Please treat as urgent, I don't want trial and error. |

Please I need an urgent answer to this, I drive a 2003 Toyota Corolla that was brought in earlier this year from the US and driven by someone else for six months before it was sent down to me, I have driven the car for close to two months plus and I want to do an oil change and oil filter change. I don't know the last oil that was used but the recommended oil from the owners manual and even the oil cap is 5W30 API Sl, At this moment, since I don't know which oil it was serviced with the last time, what is the recommended oil that I should use? The car has about 162,000+ miles on it. Please, for any recommended oil, where can I get it, I am residing in Port Harcourt. Please treat as urgent |
I bought an HP Elitebook Folio 9470m laptop and have been using it for like four months without any issues. I have another Acer Laptop and decided to use that while the HP serves as a backup. I removed the battery as was instructed by a Technician. Just recently, I needed to start using it again. I discovered that some keys on the laptop no longer work. What do I do, urgent suggestion needed. This is the same problem I am having with my Acer laptop as I have been using an external keyboard on it after disconnecting the key from the motherboard. I have changed the keys on the Acer for three times, it will work and after some time start misbehaving, some key keeps popping up at random, others do not work at all. I bought this Acer as a new laptop. |
Do you have the keyboard, some keys stopped working on mine because I didn't use for quite some time though I removed the battery. If yes, how much. |

The Toyota Corolla 2003 I drive came in January this year, driven for six Months before it was brought down to me, I don't know which oil was used for it's servicing but I guess it is the regular oil they use in Nigeria, can I switch to the extended performance at this period. What do you advise. |

fabiano09:I think the 1.2 million then was without clearing, the addition of clearing caused the price to shoot up to about 1.5 - 1.6 million, this was mentioned at some point on this thread. You might have to go back and read the entire thread again. |
0KNM:I can tell you that you just didn't want to follow up on your phones, you would have received your parcel. Nigerians should learn how to escalate issues and not just give up. I am sure those phones are inside one office gathering dust. Immediately your item showed that it has arrived Nigeria, you should have gone to their office with the tracking number to start checking for the parcel, that way you can be directed to the particular branch where it is. You still have time, go back to the post office, follow up on your phone and escalate the issue. |
tellbiodun:When did this happen? You have to know this, whenever an item goes through NIPOST especially a parcel from abroad, the post Master or anyone in charge signs for all the parcels received and they now call the respective owners to come and collect them. That was why when you tracked the phones, it shows received. Your phone is still with NIPOST, it happened to me and I called the customer care line, the guy I spoke with explained these things to me, immediately I dropped the call, I received a call from the branch that is with my phone, went there and collected my parcel. I have collected other items since. Except, you don't need those phones again, you can give me the tracking number so that I collect them. Kindly escalate the matter through their customer care line on their website and social media handles and you will get your matter resolved immediately. Thank me later. |
radautoworks:Please, which is conventional and can you give an example. |
mcvities:@radautoworks, can you provide an answer to the above questions I asked. |
