BRATISLAVA Go to YouTube. Check out Mark Wiens videos on Ghana, specifically the Kumasi episode where he was OPPORTUNED to be served this meal in a Kumasi home, and come back with a reply. That green cocoyam leaf is extremely delicious. Ghanaians don't joke with it. It's very flavourful, like how shrimps are. Get a correct Ghanaian to serve you this meal BRATISLAVA: |
But this would be the High Commission people organizing Ghana-themed events for Ghana people/lovers of Ghana, especially on Ghana celebration days. I'm sure they already do this, they should just up it a notch and give it more media coverage. Menzgold tried something like that in the entertainment space where they lined up a Ghana All star concert in Nigeria. These things go a long way to put our stuff out there. of late our Stonebwoys, Sarkodies, King Promises and co. are beginning to do more Africa/Nigeria/world-wide interactions/shows, it's the way to go. That clay plate is a YES YES for us Ghanaians. That is as natural as natural can get, and we're not shy about it. You'll find these plates in our "chop bars"/restaurants and our homes TheEnygma: |

Precious girl are you Fante? I find the Fantes to be some of the best cooks around. Ok I see you're Asante Akyem Preciousgirl: |
You'd love it. Check out popular YouTuber Mark Wiens' Kumasi Ghana videos where he sampled this meal. He LOVED it. The cocoyam leaves can also be made into a soup and eaten with Ghanaian fufu; very delicious hybrid11: |
The Ghana High Commission/Consulate in Nigeria should be organizing lots of Ghana-themed food fairs/exhibitions to help Nigerians familiarize themselves with Ghanaian stuff. Ghana has LOTS of good stuff. PetroDolla2020: |
Even your black amala that doesn't look appealing you people eat it. Some foods may not look appealing but are delicious. Taste this food first. Check out Global "food sampler" YouTuber Mark Wiens' Kumasi Ghana experience where he tasted this food, and check out his reaction. EmekaBlue: |
The Northern territories, the Asante empire, the Western Togoland and the Gold Coast proper COULD ALSO all be referred to as the Gold Coast territory. vankelvin: |
You post our foods here, they're ridiculed, you don't offer any defense/explanations, you're now posting "poo" looking foods? What are you trying to achieve? To be ridiculed? To attain fame? What? Do you know the impression you're creating with these posts? It's your thread you can post whatever you want. You and I and people familiar with Ghanaian foods know how our foods are, but when neutrals say "shit" about our foods, say something/ educate them, don't just stay mute. In their minds our foods are shit, and you're still posting more shitty looking foods ![]() Preciousgirl: |
Precious girl I'm Ghanaian like you, stop fooling. Preciousgirl: |
Who's doing the ranking? The Abidjan stadium is very pretty. This Ghana/Benin red yellow green colour stadiums are very annoying. What happened to the Ghana plan to build a new stadium for the All Africa games? vankelvin: |

Who's the older between us? Who gained independence first and whose independence led to the immediate liberation of 13 other African countries? Read up on the Aborigines Right Protection Society and see how they prevented the British from annexing West Africa lands like they did in East Africa JackWolfskin: |
When Rawlings was in charge we were formidable JackWolfskin: |
Read up on Ghanaian General Anyindoho (Deputy UN Force Commander for Rwanda's) exploits in the Rwanda genocide. Our General Erskine was commander of the UN Force in Lebanon in 1978. We're the 10th largest contributor to UN missions. American soldiers come to our Achiase Jungle Warfare school to be trained in jungle Warfare by Ghanaian experts. We've not had the need to increase our military arsenal. When the need arises we'd do needful PetroDolla2020: |
Find any Nigerian church/association around you and seek help from there. akwabavsnaija: |
Other West Africa/African countries of Togo, Ghana and co should "take advantage" of Nigeria to develop their economies. The Nigerians engender a lot of things. They're big spenders, they're adventurous, they want good places for education, tourism etc. Other ECOWAS/Africa countries should increase the capacity of their infrastructure, schools, roads etc with a potential Nigeria influx in mind. There should be a body to properly coordinate these people/numbers so they positively contribute to their host country's economy and their negatives/excesses checked. There're 200 million Nigerians; even when their economy is performing well, there'd still be a an overflow of wealthy Nigerians who can be encouraged to invest in these countries to engender growth. The Ghanaian authorities in particular should be paying attention. valentineuwakwe: |
Is fried rice and chicken our native/local food? Appreciate what we have and celebrate it. selemempe: |
That fufu name you're mentioning do you know where it ORIGINATED from? It's an Akan Ghana name that has spread throughout the world because of it's popularity. With Ghana fufu soup is poured on the fufu to make it easier to eat because it's sticky michael77777: |
"upon all the naija that lived there our cuisine is still not good enough". I have some choice words for you but I'd let it slide. The level of ignorance and arrogance some of you exhibit is truly nauseating. You come to a different foreign country expecting to see your typical nigerian food? Do you our opinion on some of your foods and practices? aswani: |
Fufu/ fufuo (mash or mix) ORIGINATED from Ghana, where boiled cassava and boiled unripe plantain is pounded together into a dough. It is eaten with liquid SOUPS not stew. Because it's sticky, the soup is usually poured on the fufu to make eating it easier. Fufu has spread into other parts of West/Central Africa/Africa/ the Carribean, and is called different names and prepared differently. What Nigerians call fufu (akpu) which is fermented cassava dough, and eaten with thickened stew is different from our Ghana fufu. Your pounded yam, which you eat with stew, we will call fufu and eat with soup poured on the pounded yam. Your akpu/ fufu (fermented cassava dough), Ghanaians would add corn dough/flour to it add call banku. KosiGee: |
