Pearlyakin:I am sorry, but your statement makes no sense. Your so called “Oduduwa Nation” is crime free? The way you think is unfortunate and retrogressive to Nigeria. It has no place in the progressive Nigerian Nation that is currently being built. Your thinking is really shameful! 2 Likes |

luizkyworld:Decent analysis, but you missed out balancing these figures out with the price of oil at these two period and how difficult it has been for a lot of State Governments to pay the current minimum wage, with the Federal Governmental even needing to bail some states out for this reason. That being said, if the masses are going to suffer, let's all suffer. The allowance of our Federal Legislators at least needs serious review; the current way things are is unfair. |

This approach is totally unacceptable! Nothing short of proper prosecution would be right! You catch a person stealing bread because he is hungry and the tyres and petrol come out! Then we have this and are talking about a public apology and community? The same applies to looting public officials and politicians. Where are the tyres then? Nigeria is neither ripe for democracy nor human rights! Part of this poor girls recovery is knowing the animal is doing a good stretch in prison! |

These guys have been coming out armed from day one with intent to cause injury or death. The armed forces should pet them? Try this in America, you will surely be shot in the most gruesome manner. Nairaland / General / Re: Something Is Generally Wrong With Nigerians!!! by mechouk1: 9:23am On Oct 22, 2018 |
Your post is really straight to the point and your observations are all correct. The behaviour you described is what Ex President IBB called "the Nigerian Factor". The Nigerian Factor was considered by his Military Government in things that involved planning and application of models and systems that had worked perfectly in other countries to Nigeria. They usually didn't work in this country unless tailored to our environment. Hence, I am not a proponent of democracy as practiced abroad at this time because we abuse it. I am also not a proponent of Human Rights as practiced in the more civilised parts of the world. It doesn't work for us currently, as is evident around us. The long and better fix would be a revamping of our educational system, with mass sensitisation of the populace. This will take at least a generation. The quick fix would be a patriotic, but strict, detribalised and BRUTAL military regime for 10 to 15 years! I know most won't agree with me, but remember that we are a people that have and are constantly glorifying and choosing corruption over more noble ideas and deeds. For example, in the PDP Presidential Primaries amongst the candidates was Dr Datti Ahmed who was (in my opinion) the best candidate for a progressive Nigeria. He polled only 5 votes because he couldn't make "Dollar Rain". 8 Likes 1 Share |

Reno Omokri is a retard. Why are we obsessed with projects INITIATED and completed by Buhari? For the first time in our history we have a government that recognises worthwhile projects INITIATED by a previous government and ensures they are COMPLETED. This helps development and continuity. It also conserves resources. We should think of our good regardless of religio-etnic sentiments and party politics. We need CONTINUITY and this government is offering that! 4 Likes 1 Share |

Most of the comments on this thread really sadden me with their unpatriotic and etho-tribal undertones. A soldier died for our country albeit a "st**hole". These soldiers would rather be elsewhere than in the forests and bushes where they currently are. They have families aand loved ones and are probably also not happy about the state of the country, our country. If soldiers and other personnel of our armed forces were to be withdrawn, then you would know what insecurity really is. If Nigeria is a zoo, we made it so, and by extension we must be animals as is evident from our daily conduct. We make such comments and then dress up and enter our Churches and Mosques to pray. God is truly merciful. RIP to the gallant fallen soldiers of my beloved country ! 2 Likes |
Politics / Re: Lady Wears T-shirt With "General Sani Abacha" Image by mechouk1: 6:34am On Oct 11, 2017 |
Most people were raised to hate Sani Abacha, induced by western and local media to hate the man. Please do your own research about the man and his government. In hindsight, judging by what we have now,our democratic experiment riddled with wanton institutional and societal corruption and total disregard for morality in any form and infrastructural collapse; oh I nearly forgot ethno-tribal sentiments at their highest, Islamic terrorism, Niger-Delta militancy, etc. Please check this against his hardly spoken about economic achievements and you will understand why the lady is wearing the T-Shirt. Please use social media wisely. When the West want to kill you they give you a bad name! In my opinion, arguably the best President we have ever had! He was a fully detribalised person, that loved Nigeria very deeply and cared for it's people. He stood up against the West, made us dignified and died for it. Balance this against the nonsense we have had since his death! 2 Likes |

Throwback:This is absolutely well articulated and to the point. Well done!!! Every economic woe in our beloved country is being experienced by everyone regardless of tribe & has been caused by our past leadership also regardless of tribe. The politicians actively or passively support tribalism and ethnic divisiveness because it diverts attention from their crimes. The sad part is that our educational system has been so compromised that the youth largely find it difficult to figure this out for themselves; then comes Nnamdi Kanu, the cheap imp, to capitalise on this. HE NEEDS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF, BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY!!!!! 4 Likes |
Politics / Re: "North Will Not, Will Never Allow Presidency To Move To South In 2019" - NYLF by mechouk1: 3:46am On Jun 22, 2017 |
The Nigerian democratic experiment is not going well at all. We have shown that we lack the maturity to practice true democracy; although that hardly exists anywhere in the world. The NYF's statement is well worded and intelligent, but most of us on Nairaland due to a laziness to read and a rush to be FTC would not read the full statement before commenting. My only grouse with the statement is their stating that they would not allow a Southern President in 2019. The truth is, nobody so far has won an election without the North. Nigeria has always played regional politics, with the exception of the annulled June 12 election in 1993. We have a chance to take our country and move it forward regardless of ethnicity or tribe if we stop the dangerous trend of hate speeches, etc. Otherwise, we may soon truly learn what it means to be marginalised when we are refugees in neighbouring African countries. Let's unite & build! |

Guyman02:Kudos for being one of the few thinking people capable of seeing and stating the obvious. The West prance around the world destroying all secular countries for selfish ends. Amongst this list are, Iraq, Egypt, Libya, Syria,.....and they seem to be orchestrating things in our beloved Nigeria now. The sad thing is, even though the modus operandi has been used over & over elsewhere, we still seem foolish enough to swallow the bait an march on to self destruction! 2 Likes 1 Share |

In my opinion, none better than "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill. It's amazing! It is very old but simply magical. Most of the current motivational books culled a lot of their material from this book. Have fun! |
