We just lost Victor Vasquez to Brugges. I think he's a decent player, but I also recognize that not every La Masia player can get into the 1st team. The only annoying thing for me is that once again, we've let a player go for nothing! Don't the guys at the Barca helm know anything about finance?

We have sold the following players for little or nothing in the last few years: Henry, Marquez, Botia have all gone on free deals. Rochina was sold to Blackburn for 450k eur reportedly. We lost money in the Ibra & Chyg sales. We're becoming a charity not just for Unicef, but for rival clubs too - no wonder the club has such debts!
There was no way they could cash in on him. His contract was gonna expire this summer and at 24, he barely features for the first team. The best thing was to let him go on a free transfer.

AjanleKoko:
Don't look at it from that point of view.
Vasquez probably needs the experience, he has suffered years of inury, and he's not getting any younger. Plus, players are not necessarily valued in millions of euros just because they play for Barcelona. In this case a cadet Barcelona squad. I'm sure if you put Busquets on the market, diving and all, we would be talking maybe 20-35 million euros minimum. Even Bojan would command good money.

Off topic, I was wondering, who knows what players are being tracked by Barca scouts?
A Brazilian defender, Andre Santos, plays for Fernabache and another Fernabache defender. Alexis Sanchez, Matt Hummels and Sergio Araujo are being watched too.

I don't know if Taiye Taiwo's move to Milan is really a good one. I don't know if he'd get enough playing time. He'd have to fight for his place. There's Jankulouski, Zambrotta and Urby Emmanuelson can also fill in at left-back and there's also Didac Vila. I hope he'd get to play regularly.
Phillipe Mexes though, very good buy.

lol. He's the alpha and omega of footie to alot of people. Everything he does; every move he makes, every word he utters is seen as some sort of tactic, lol.

Ferguson achieved alot with Aberdeen, Aberdeen of all clubs? Porto is known to be one of the best clubs in Portugal and also a good club in Europe, so no news there but Aberdeen?
Porto's problem is that they always sell their best players. In 2009 they got to the CL q/finals when they had Lisandro Lopez, Lucho Gonzalez, Aly Cissokho, Raul Meireles. They narrowly lost to Man Utd after playing a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford. It took a Puskas Award winning goal from Ronaldo for Man Utd to beat them 1-0 at the Dragao.
Winning the CL with Porto is not much of a feat as people often see it, considering the players Porto had at time.

Pac Man will win but it'll be close. Shane 'Sugar' Mosley is a good fighter and has won titles across different weight divisions.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Jose Mourinho Cannot Be The Best Coach In The World by medjai(m): 1:15pm On May 06, 2011
Mou's biggest achievement is winning the champions league with Porto. More than anything else, more than any tactical mastery, more than any subtle mind game, Porto's CL triumph was largely due to the fact that they retained their best players during that period. Porto is one of the biggest 'selling' clubs in Europe. In recent times they have sold players like Lucho Gonzalez, Aly Cissokho, Lisandro Lopez, Ricardo Quaresma, Pepe, Raul Meireles. . . Imagine them holding onto these players and allowing them play together for some seasons, of course, they'd be a force to reckon with in Europe.
Mou had a bunch of talented lads to work with during his time at Porto.
The current Porto coach, Andre Vilas Boas, has already led Porto to the Europa League final and has also wrestled the league title away from Benfica and this is just his first season in-charge. This is because, as I mentioned earlier, they have kept some of their biggest names - Hulk, Radamael Falcao, Freddy Guarin, Joao Moutinho etc. Porto will be in the champions league next season and IMO, they'd be one of favourites.
He won back to back league titles with Chelsea - not a big deal if you consider that he spent close to £200m in bringing in players.
Same thing with Inter. Before he came to Inter, they had won the last three league titles. He won the CL with Inter? Inter has never been a team that can't win the CL. They were s/finalists in 2003 and q/finalists in 2006. Let's not forget that the CL win came after huge investments bringing in the likes of Eto'o, Lucio, Thiago Motta, Diego Milito, Sneijder, Chivu, etc.

@medjai,
if u coach a team for 20 yrs and win 10 medals and u coach a team for 3 yrs and win 2 medals, who is better? if mourinho is not the best, who is? real men face challanges here and there. wenger for all we know is a very good coach but can he move from portugal to england, to italy and spain? these coaches are good but mourinho is better. the next time he wins champions league, history will have him as the only coach to have won it with 3 different clubs, can u beat that?
he is called tested and trusted. please if any one feels his medals and laurels are not worth making him the best, i will agree with that one that says; LOOK FOR THE NEAREST SEA, LAGOON OR OCEAN AND JUMP INSIDE IT.
Mourinho is a good coach but not special and certainly not best.

Thanks for the correction. Higuain's goal was legit and it was a tripped Ronaldo that INNOCENTLY got in Masch's way, so what are u yapping about?
sharrap dia, who sabi you, Barney? grin
There's life outside NL, you dysmorphic ape! Nobody cares how long you've been here grin

AjanleKoko:
^^
Actually the ref disallowed the goal because Ronaldo had impeded a defender, albeit accidentally.
Though you could say that the goal could have stood, if the ref had seen Pique's foul on Ronaldo and allowed advantage play. But the ref had raised his hand before Higuain put the ball in the net.

If you look at the foul by Pique on Ronaldo, I think the goal should have been given. But the ref seems to have missed that one, and caught the trip by Ronaldo instead.
But Madrid have spent this CL tie complaining, rather than focus on the game. That, plus the overt fouling, in my opinion, is what did them in. If you're committing too many fouls, the other side is bound to make a meal of it, and the referee will react at some point. In tonight's game, MAscherano was clearly trying to get Adebayor sent off, but the ref didn't fall for it. Not to say that Adebayor helped the matter much, with his idiotic challenges.

I think too many games in such a short space of time is the real issue. That plus the Mourinho factor. Too much bad blood all round.
Imagine if we had scored that type of goal, it would have been another set of conspiracy theories.
That aside, I think it was a tough decision and the ref made the right call. However, Ronaldo should have been awarded a freekick but it did seem he went down soft from Pique's challenge.
Masch was the last defender and it looked likely that he was going to get to the ball before he was tripped by Ronaldo, inadvertently though.

@Ajanlekoko and Stealthy

congrats on your win, but Marcelo's goal should have stood as CRON didnt commit any offence, whats with u guys and not winning except by having your way controversially?

Mourinho has his good self to blame for having so many options but allowing the sending off of Pepe get to him and thereby not doing enuff to ward off an impending ravaging by Messi, he had it coming but am sure HE WAS PSYCHOLOGICALLY TUNED OFF THE MOMENT PEPE GOT CARDED and there and then the game was won and lost.

Mourinho remains the best coach in the world . . .
Higuain's goal you mean? Why should it have stood? There was a clear infringement on Masch by Ronaldo
