I'd love to see Pep play Masch over Abidal in defence. My preferred line up: Valdes; Alves, Masch, Pique, Puyol; Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta; Pedro, Messi, Villa.
Abidal is yet to hit top form since his return and with Valencia playing down the right for United, playing a not-so-fit Abidal will be suicidal. |

AjanleKoko: ^^ What about Aguero? On today, off for the rest of the season. That's Atleti's fault. Atleti are very inconsistent. They usually struggle and only recover close to the end of the campaign to qualify for Europe. Aguero is really good. He has had to carry Atleti on his back all season since Forlan's demise. His goal return for Ateti is pretty impressive and he's only 22. Pray he joins Juve or any club but this club. usbcable: while he was in the castilla he was a point man when he now joined espanyol he gradually migrated to the wings.
but why buy something you will never need on the long run.
i feel some people in the hierachy just dont want Adebayor. so they try to sign a tall striker with same strenght. maybe they couldn't price away llorente. but why do a remix of a song when the new lyrics are no better off than the original
callejon/altinthorp/sahin are not better than the present. at most sahin has the record of a performer. but having UCL experience alone dont count enough to sign hamit. and what the hell reason do they have to re-sign callejon( abi na because na former madrid alumni). SMH. I feel like slapping the frizzles outta somebodies face. I think the Callejon move was pretty smart in the sense that he's young and also good. I've watched him play a lot of times and truth is, he's the business; very promising. He and Osvaldo combine to devastating effect for Espanyol and on their day they can take almost any defence apart. I guess this paves the way for Pedro Leon's departure. |

In games they've all featured in: 51 played 38 wins 13 draws 0 loss In games they all started: 29 played 23 wins 6 draws 0 loss |

coogar: ronaldo has a better strike rate than messi in international games. ronaldo has outscored messi in la liga this season and he has had a better strike rate than messi for the past 2 seasons in la liga. those are the facts. Tevez has 12 goals in 60 appearances for the Argies, Aguero has 9 goals in 35 appearances di Maria has 3 in 18 appearances . . . Point is, nobody does well for Argentina. Maradona and Bielsa before him had a problem of getting the best out of these players. Only Higuain has a decent goal return for the Argies. Besides, Messi doesn't play the same role he plays for Barcelona for Argentina. He plays in a slightly deeper role. It's only now that Batista is trying to structure the Argie team to resemble Barcelona that Messi now plays as a decoy striker which is why Tevez has been dropped and he has scored 3 goals in the last 4 international matches or thereabout. |

AjanleKoko: Well . . . it's not that Madrid are smarter, else we wouldn't have won the league more times than they have in the last 21 years (1990-2011) than they have (11 La Liga titles since 1990, while they have 6). It may have to do with our style of play. Barcelona always want a player to be right for the team. We don't sign a player strictly for his abilities. That makes it hard to sign. In the last 10 years we have signed Riquelme, Henry, Eto'o, Ibra, Villa, Ronaldinho, but we have experienced much more stability from the homegrown or Spanish talent. Be it Puyol, Pique, Iniesta, Xavi, Messi, Busquets.
In fact, its when we want to copy Madrid that we end up with disaster. Look at Chyggy and Ibra. As phenomenal as Henry was in England, he just could not cut it at Barca though some might argue that we got him when he was on his last legs. Apart from those two, plus Riquelme, I would say we have got value out of our signings over the last couple of decades. Madrid on the other hand have signed more players, especially continental players, but they have not really done as well as they should have, given the huge transfer budgets.
Oezil would have been a great buy but I don't think he's better than Cesc, or even close. Cesc is obviously doing the Henry - faking injuries and stuff - just to get out of Arsenal. If he comes to Barca, he will play the best football of his life, because he will have to impress the fans.
That said, who is this Jose Angel? And how come there's now little talk about Albert Botia? If we are sending anyone out on loan, it should be either Montoya or Batra. Fontas should stay with the senior team, I like his movement. Plus, it's very difficult to find defenders who can fit into Barca's style. I agree with Stealthy. We've been very terrible in the transfer market. Under Laporta/Txiki especially, we made some very unsavvy signings: Henrique - €8m Keirrison - €14m, which could rise to €16m depending on appearances for the first team Caceres - €16.5m Chygrynsky - €25m and there's the almighty Ibra madness. Rossell/Zubi have done better as regards transfers. Afellay, Adriano have been really good signings. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by medjai(m): 12:41am On May 24, 2011 |
Jose Angel from Gijon is a very good signing. I guess Maxwell would be the fall guy. We don't to spend too much in this transfer window. Just one or two additions:
Defence: Re-sign Botia Keep Caceres or sell to Sevilla at the right price. Keep Henrique - he'd be useful as a backup. He can play RB and CB Promote Fontas - he'd also be useful as a backup and at times Pep wants to rotate. Montoya and Bartra can continue at Barca B.
Midfield: Sign Cesc but don't break the bank. Promote Thiago and Sergi Roberto. Sign Pablo Piatti from Almeria: Very good winger and can also play in attack and he'll come cheap since Almeria are already relegated. Attack: Promote Soriano - I doubt this would happen though. This guy was the segunda division's Pichichi. Sign an experienced striker that would act as backup or can be an impact sub. Keirrison and Bojan - One should go out on loan and one should stay. |

I really dont like saying this, but for the sake us this medjai that keeps comparing his record with that of messi, I ask:
IF MESSI HAD SCORED 9 MORE GOALS IN THE LAST THREE GAMES OF BARCELONA AND CR DIDN'T SCORE MORE THAN 3, THUS MAKING MESSI THE NEW HIGHEST GOAL SCORER. WOULD THOSE GOALS NOT COUNT AS PART OF THE RECORD MAKING GOALS EVEN THOUGH THE MATCHES WERE WORTHLESS, SINCE BARCA HAD ALREADY WON THE LEAGUE?
even @ that are his haters saying Sevilla(4 goals), Villareal (2 goals), Getafe (3 goals) worthless teams?
haba, na record the guys break with unconditional love and help from his team mates, just learn to appreciate it or bleep off. @ statement in caps: That would have been the icing on the cake Messi won the league and is in the CL final, scored some spectacular goals and overall, was a better all round performer. He was the best player in Europe and by some pretty long distance too. He owned Ronaldo in pretty much all of the el-classicos this season. |

coogar: stop lying, ronaldo had already surpassed messi's goal haul in the league before the time he played one extra game than messi. ronaldo played just a game more than messi and scored 9 goals more than messi. your claim has no weight at all What lie? Ronaldo played a league match more than Messi. so the league should stop because barcelona had won the league or what kind of nonsense are you spewing here? At that point, it was mission accomplished for Messi. of course, messi has something to play for. he had the pichichi to play for and he also had the la liga record(which ronaldo just broke) to play for. Ronaldo scored 11 goals in the last 4 league games of the season, that was after Barca had won the league. If he had showed such good form when there was alot to play for, perhaps, Madrid would have won something more tangible than the Copa del Rey. Messi's goals led Barca to the league title, Champions league final and Copa del Rey final. Ronaldo's ? Moreso, Ronaldo played more league games and had more minutes than Messi in the league. Before Barca won the league, the top scorer chart in la liga was: Messi 31 Ronaldo 29. Ronaldo only surpassed Messi when Messi had already won the league and had nothing to play for anymore. . . Perhaps, Ronaldo doesn't know when to score goals |

Results: Dolphins 0 vs Sharks 0. I suspect foul play again in this PH derby. Dolphins, prior to this match had a 100% home record and have only conceded once at the Liberation stadium. It's just funny that their perfect home record just got dented by Sharks who are not so good on the road. Well, it's a derby and funny stuff happen in derbies atimes but considering what happened in the first leg, I just can't trust these guys. Dis Guy: I dont think it's about the pay alone, think about it most teams still struggle to score away from home, it's the style of football they play some teams are extremely negative away some even deliberately play for a draw- they are not attack minded and the referees or maybe the coach is to blame. it's a bit like the super eagles after leading for example 2-0 they start passing the ball around even with 20-30 minutes to play instead pf trying to get more goals Of course! The fact that Ishaya Jatau's record of 17 goals was only equalled after 19 years by Akarandut Orok and then finally broken by Ahmed Musa after 20 years shows that it's not a league that encourages goal spree, no thanks to the extremely negative style of play most teams adopt especially when they are away from home. A team like Rangers for instance keeps scoring 3, 4, 5 goals at home but can't repeat such away. They have only won once away Embele: It also could do with the fact we play games in the afternoon in the tropics. That's another factor. It's high time they changed this 4pm or 5pm timing of matches. No be beans to dey play under 30-40 c everytime. But then, they have to install floodlights in all the stadia. honeric01: @medjai
Why should a player wait for his salaries to be increased before he starts upgrading his career by scoring well? if you score more goals, you become sellable to the outside clubs, take Ahmed Musa and Worge as a case study, it was their goal exploits that took them out of Nigeria, the earlier players start thinking of their own future, the better for them and the league
@Dis guy
Me i never experience that one before o, most players that play penalty for their clubs are usually their captains and sometimes the GK, but for random players? i doubt that. I get your point but I think if they are motivated better, they'd perform better. Dolphins vs Sharks - live on Supersport. Time: 5 PM |

switch47: You sound like he scored all 40 goals against Relegation teams Ronaldo has been scoring since the start of the season. The "Other" (Ronaldo) was grabbing the winning goal in the CDR Final over Barcelona , by the way those so called goal;s against relegated teams are same goals that Gave him THE RECORD 40 goals in a season!! What prevented Messi from scoring hat tricks against relegation teams like Hercules(mind you the Relegation team in question beat barcelona in camp nou) C Ronaldo has created a new Record and no amount of sentiment can take that away from him. the fact speaks for its self. 40 GOALS !! Cristiano Ronaldo made Spanish football history on Saturday by breaking the all time goalscoring record with 40 goals in a single season for the Spanish La Liga. C RONALDO has done a great job proving himself to be world class once again!!
Note
Barcelona remains my Favourite team in spain but making blind attempts to discredit a player based on mere sentiments offends the simplest rules of objectivity and confines you to the four walls of bias. Messi has scored 4 hatricks this season and unlike Ronaldo, Messi scored when there was alot to play for. Ronaldo scored 10 penalties compared to Messi's four. Ronaldo scored 11 goals when Barca had already won the league while Messi was scoring when it all mattered. Ronaldo: 10 penalties + 11 goals scored in dead rubber matches = 21; 21 out of 40 goals. . . I dey laugh switch47: C Ronaldo has proved himself to be world class in 3 major leagues. Anelka has proven himself in France, Spain, Turkey and in England with Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City, Bolton and now Chelsea. . . What does that make him? |
