Nigerian singer, Damilola Alesh, popularly known as Dice Ailes has addressed accusations of fraud leveled against him. The allegations emerged after the singer announced he bought a house in Lagos and a new Mercedes Benz car. In a chat with Punch, he said: “As illegal as it may seem, it’s simply hard work and God that gave me the house and a new car. “My prayers have always been for God to bless me in ways that would confuse and shock people. It’s evident that God is real and prayers work. I do just music and God has blessed me. “Since I came to the limelight, I never looked back. I have learnt that anything is achievable if you put your mind to it and there is no excuse for failure. “My parents know my struggles as opposed to the fans on social media. They see the process; in fact, they are a part of it. All I do is try to make them proud. I’m thankful to God for all my achievements thus far. “Life is generally hard and success isn’t an easy road. But I’ve been able to attain some of the goals I set for myself, which include improving the quality of my life and the people around me. I’m grateful for this.” source:http://www.kendogist.com/2018/06/dice-ailes-reacts-to-allegations-of.html

Former Governor of Abia State and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has reacted to reports quoting him as saying that he killed people when he was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). According to the former governor, he was quoted out of context in an interview he granted journalists after the South East executive committee meeting of the APC held in Abuja last Wednesday. “I did not say I used to kill people during congress when I was a member of the PDP”, he said. “Rather, I pointed out that due to political rivalry and other vices, people used to die during congresses in the PDP. “I am not only a law-abiding Nigerian but also a devout Catholic who does not believe in ungodly and inhuman acts. I have never killed anyone and will never do such nor engage anyone to kill on my behalf. “People should not twist my interview to suit their selfish, wicked and barbaric ambitions. I am a man of peace and I can never derail from the path of peace.” The former governor, while advising media outfits especially online platforms to verify information before disseminating, urged Nigerians “to disregard the false, malicious and wicked news.” source: http://www.kendogist.com/2018/06/orji-kalu-clears-air-on-killing-people.html

The camp of former President Goodluck Jonathan, has spoken on the comment attributed to President Muammadu Buhari on the Sovereign Wealth Fund. Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, on behalf of Jonathan’s Media Office, on Friday, reacted to the statement released through the Presidency’s Twitter account, @NGRPresident. The handle tweeted: “Investing for the Future: The @nsia_nigeria has received cash inflows of $1.15 billion under the @MBuhari Administration: $250 million in 2016, $250 million in 2017 and $650 million in 2018.” According to Reno, the Buhari government alleged that the past government, which created the Sovereign Wealth Fund in 2012, failed to save money in the fund after the initial $1 billion deposit it made into it. He advised the Buhari government to respect the period of Ramadan and stop dishing out “lies” against Jonathan. Omokri said: “Such a lie, coming at a time when the President is meant to be fasting is shocking! “The truth is that after starting up the Sovereign Wealth Fund with an initial deposit of $1 billion in 2011, the Nigerian Governors Forum, led by Rotimi Amaechi and supported by other Governors who later joined the APC, took the Jonathan administration to court to declare the Sovereign Wealth Fund illegal and assert their claim that the Jonathan led Federal Government could not force them to save. “In fact, Mr, Rotimi Amaechi released a statement justifying his opposition to the Sovereign Wealth Fund on August 31, 2011. “Many attempts by the Jonathan administration to settle the matter out of court were rebuffed by Mr. Amaechi and his colleagues who had a hidden agenda to frustrate the plans by the Jonathan administration to save for a rainy day. “Working in tandem with Mr. Amaechi and his supporters in the Nigerian Governors Forum, the then minority APC members of the House of Representatives also filed another suit at a Federal High Court on the 7th of February, 2014, seeking a perpetual injunction restraining the Jonathan administration from operating the Excess Crude Account, from which they intended to source for money to fund the Sovereign Wealth Fund, and to pay all the proceeds of that account into the Federation Account for sharing amongst the three tiers of government. “As a result of these actions, the Jonathan administration paid the 36 states of the federation a total of N2.92 trillion from the Excess Crude Account between 2011 and 2014. Using the value of the Naira at that time that amount was just above $20 billion dollars. “It therefore amounts to historical revision for the Presidency to make these spurious allegations against the Jonathan administration, “President Muhammadu Buhari should be aware that just like I told him, after the many lies from his Democracy Day Speech, Ramadan fast does not just mean abstaining from food, it also means abstaining from lies.” source: http://www.kendogist.com/2018/06/sovereign-wealth-fund-respect-ramadan.html

Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State on Wednesday insisted that no part of the state is under Boko Haram occupation as being insinuated. Shettima said although there were pockets of attacks on soft targets by the defeated insurgents, the military and other security agencies deserved unreserved commendation to enable total restoration of peace and order in the state and the north east in general. The Governor stated this when the newly appointed Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Abdulmalik Bulama Biu paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Maiduguri. His words, “As the Chief Security Officer in Borno state, I am grateful to President Mohammed Buhari, the Military, Security agencies, Stakeholders and people of the state for their sustained effort towards the fight against Boko Haram. “In the last four years, our major highways that link us with other parts of the country and the entire state was under siege, but we are proud of our President and the Nigerian Army for bringing sanity and peace to our dear state. “I am personally saddened by some Borno oppositions/politicians who have relocated to Abuja, Lagos and other places during the peak of the insurgency and making unnecessary noise regarding the calamities that befell us. “Instead of them to pray while they relocated, they were busy raising unnecessary critics on us as government, but thank God that all their bad plans against this government end up hitting the rock. “As government, our doors will always remain open for military to fraternize and see how we continue to give our maximum support and cooperation to end Boko Haram madness in our dear state,” Shettima stated. He told the new GOC that being a son of the soil, who had versatile knowledge on the nooks and crannies of the state, troops under his watch will consolidate on the remarkable achievements recorded to end the lingering crisis. Earlier, the new GOC said, he was at the Government House to officially register his presence alongside his lieutenants. General Biu said, “I am here for three issues, first is to thank your Excellency for the support you have been providing in the business of security, present myself to you and the people of the state on my preparedness to rapidly achieve the much desired peace we are all reigning for, and to seek for your sustainable effort in supporting the military. “I came with an open mind, ready to contribute beyond the call of my duty. Under my watch, we will continue to respect the rules of engagement so that the rights of the people will not be truncated by our sacrificial troops, as we collectively team up to end Boko Haram,” Biu said. source: http://www.kendogist.com/2018/05/borno-not-under-boko-haram-occupation.html

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday in Abuja assured the new President of Sierra Leone, Mr Julius Maada Bio, of Nigeria’s support as they work towards a stable and improved economy. Receiving the Sierra Leonean President at the Presidential Villa, Buhari congratulated Bio on the successful elections and the transitions that had ushered in a new government in the country. “We will continually stand by you to ensure stability in your country. We believe security in the West Coast region, Africa and the world should be a collective concern,” he said. He said Nigeria had for a long period provided security support for the country, especially during the 11 years of civil war, and would continue to assist the forces on the ground to ensure the peace and stability needed for development. President Buhari noted that he shared a lot in common with the Sierra Leonean President, which includes ruling the country as a military general, contesting several elections as opposition and winning to face the challenges of security and an ailing economy. In his remarks, the President of Sierra Leone said his country remains grateful to Nigeria for the brotherly role it had played in ensuring an end to protracted civil war in the country, and the successful political transitions since then. Mr Bio said he would work towards deepening the bilateral relations with Nigeria, and the strengthening of the regional bond, particularly in the areas of security and trade. source: http://www.kendogist.com/2018/05/what-buhari-told-sierra-leone-president.html

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo and his party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), have opened up on their request to state governors and federal lawmakers. National Chairman of ADC, Okey Nwosu, made the disclosure in an interview with Thisday. He said the party, in its invitation letter to the bigwigs, demanded that they move their structures and grassroot followers into the ADC. Using the word “adapt”, he said once the governors and lawmakers were ready to do that, the party would welcome them. His words: “We have sent letters to governors, senators, members of the House of Representatives, and if they can adapt to ADC ways, we will receive them. “We are a grassroots party and that is where our strength lies. We have always had a challenge of not having enough resources to show what we are capable of doing. “Even in some places where we have won elections, the people in government tend to take the powerful influence of state structures to take the victories away. But I think with the influx of influential personalities that situation will end. “The biggest assets of the party are the young people and women, not the kind big men Nigerians were used to. Almost everybody in Nigeria is not happy with the way the country is going. “And if Obasanjo, Babangida, Danjuma, the bishops, and the religious leaders, both Christian and Moslem, have said that enough is enough, and have come to identify with a party that can properly package the polity and address issues of nation-building, we must be taken seriously.” source: http://www.kendogist.com/2018/05/obasanjos-adc-reveals-content-of.html

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, says the 2019 re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC government will be very easy. The minister stated this on Tuesday in Oyo while inspecting the 52-kilometre dualised Oyo-Ogbomosho road project under construction by Reynold Construction Company (RCC) The N47.5 billion project is the section two of the entire Ibadan-Ilorin road dualisation construction project. Addressing newsmen at the construction site, Mohammed said the administration “is so confident of its re-election in 2019 because of what are being delivered in terms of infrastructure and social welfare. “The proper and easy ways you can get the electorate to vote for you are by keeping your promises to them, delivering on your promises and embarking on projects which touch their lives. “Either in term of infrastructure or social interventions, we are working everyday for the people. We are working for the common man in this country. “As of today, we feed 8.2 million children in public primary schools all over Nigeria. “In the process, we engaged 7000 cooks and the feeding programme in about 24 states covered 62,000 Primary schools. “These are what we are doing and that is why we are so confident that our re-election will be easy,” he said. The minister said the administration would not engage in banters with critics but will continue to showcase its achievements for people to see and make conclusions. On the road project which the contractor said was 52 per cent completed, the minister gave an assurance that funding would no longer be the constraint to its timely completion. “Funding will no longer be a challenge to many of our critical road projects. “This is because the N191 billion presidential intervention fund has been put in place and critical roads like this will benefit from the funding,” he said. source: http://www.kendogist.com/2018/05/why-buhari-apc-will-win-easily-in-2019.html
