Rafael Nadal, on Sunday, won a record-extending 11th French Open title, seeing off Dominic Thiem in the final. The world No 1 sealed a 6-4 6-3 6-2 victory to take his impeccable record to 11-0 in title matches at Roland Garros. The 32-year-old Spaniard also secured his 17th major trophy, which moves him within three of great rival, Roger Federer’s all-time record. “Well played Dominic. He played a great few weeks. He is one these of players the tournament needs. I am sure you will win here in the next couple of years. It was the best match of the tournament for him. “It was important to play the way I did. It was a tough moment when I got cramp. He is a player who pushes you to the limit. Overall, it’s a dream to win 11 times,” Nadal said after the game. http://www.kendogist.com/2018/06/nadal-beats-thiem-to-win-11th-french.html

The Yoruba Ronu Leadership Forum has said that President Muhammadu Buhari has been more democratic than the three previous presidents before him, including Olusegun Obasanjo. Mr Akin Malaolu, the Secretary-General of the forum said this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja. The Forum was reacting to recent alarm by Obasanjo that plans were being plotted to frame him by the Buhari-led APC government. Malaolu, who described Obasanjo’s alarm as strange, said: “if anything at all was tormenting him, it must be karma that knows his face and has his addresses.” “If Civil Society Organisations call for Nigeria’s anti corruption agencies to urgently revisit the 16 billion dollars Obasanjo Electricity and Power Development Contracts, will that now be deemed that Buhari is plotting to kill Obasanjo. “When Obasanjo was calling on Nigerians not to re-elect Buhari come 2019, there was nothing seen as wrong with his inciting and national destabilisation acts and declarations,” Malaolu said. He recalled that when Obasanjo was in power, nobody could have tried to do to him what he had been doing to bring down successive governments. According to him, it is now obvious that the posthumous national recognition and honour given Chief M.K.O. Abiola by Buhari and the declaration of June 12, as Democracy Day have become the rudest shock for Obasanjo to bear. He added that Obasanjo had forgotten that he and many officers were unwilling guests at the country’s diverse detention facilities because of their unbecoming and national destabilisation acts during late Gen. Sani Abacha’s military regime. The forum’s scribe, however, said that it was time to let the likes of Obasanjo to understand that without them, Nigeria would be a better country to live in. “We must caution Nigerians not to allow themselves get hoodwinked by liars in the country, who know how to turn things around and make it seem like they loved the truth for the sake of the truth. “Nigerians must not be quick to believe what Obasanjo said, because lies spread quicker than the truth,” he said. Popular Nigerian musician, Iyanya has insisted he is not jealous of Tekno’s success. He also maintained he is not surprised at how Tekno’s career has risen. We reports that the ‘Pana’ crooner is signed on the Triple MG record label, which Iyanya founded alongside his friend, Ubi Franklin. Ubi later left to pitch his tent with Mavin Records owned by Don Jazzy. However, Iyanaya is currently on the Temple Music platform. In a chat with Punch, he said: “I am so happy for Tekno and his success and I am not surprised. “At a point, we were all together and this is a young guy that works very hard. He worked every night and when we woke up in the morning, he would still be working. “So, I am not surprised that he has finally made it. I believe this is just the beginning and there are many more things to come his way. “When he came to Triple MG, he sprayed his hair gold and anytime I wanted to call him, I referred to him as golden boy. “I am very happy he is doing great things. How would I be envious of somebody that Ubi Franklin and I raised from our platform? “We used our platform to promote him and I cannot be envious of him; there is no need for that. People would always try to say negative things but we are very fine.” source: http://www.kendogist.com/2018/06/iyanya-speaks-on-being-jealous-of.html

Human rights activist and renowned lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) has dared the Muslims Rights Concern, MURIC, to sue his rapper son, Folarin Falana popularly known as Falz, if they are aggrieved by his trending ‘This is Nigeria’ video. We recalls that the group during the week released a statement, ordering Falz to take down ''This is Nigeria'' video which, according to them, ridicules their religion because some girls were seen in the footage wearing hijab and dancing Shaku Shaku. They also threatened to take a legal action against the rapper after the expiration of the ultimatum given to him. But reacting to the threat, the renowned lawyer told Vanguard that in as much as freedom of speech is constitutionally guaranteed in the country, nobody has the right to threaten another person. According to him, the video in question contains a lot of messages and desired to be encouraged by anybody who has the interest of this country at heart. Speaking further, Falana said he has confirmed that his son, who’s also a lawyer by profession is handling the threat within the ambit of the law. “My son is a lawyer and I have confirmed that he’s handling the threat within the ambit of the law. The video in question contains a lot of messages and it should be encouraged by anybody who has the interest of our country at heart. “Since the group has threatened to sue him or threatening to sue him. My son has promised that he would meet them in court. I support that decision. “We all belong to this country, nobody can threaten another person. Freedom of speech is constitutionally guaranteed. “If you are aggrieved as a result of any publication or record, the appropriate thing for you to do is to go to court. I’d hope that they will go to court at the expiration of the ultimatum given to my son,” said the renowned lawyer. source: http://www.kendogist.com/2018/06/this-is-nigeria-femi-falana-finally.html
