The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday, accused President Muhammadu Buhari’s government of corruption. PDP said this in reaction to the N1.4 trillion naira spent of fuel subsidy. PDP spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement, demanded probe of the alleged fraud as well as revenue collecting agencies under the presidency. In his words, “Such inquest, which is already backed by state governors across board, will not only expose humongous corruption but also show the world that our African Union (AU) Anti-Corruption champion had not been totally spotless. “We invite Nigerians to note that the demand by governors to probe all subsidy deals since 2015 is a direct indictment on President Buhari as the Minister of Petroleum, particularly, following allegations that the stolen funds are being warehoused to fund his 2019 re-election bid and the opulent lifestyle in the Presidential Villa. “The party notes that if President Buhari allowed the inquest, it will reveal how our president, who had queried the genuineness of the oil subsidy payments by PDP administration and described the process as a fraud, had secretly engaged in underhand oil subsidy deals. “Nigerians will also understand how the cost of fuel geometrically rose from the PDP subsidized cost of N87 to N145, representing a criminal N58 tax, per liter of fuel.” The opposition party further recalled that it took over two years of secret oil subsidy deals under President Buhari before it was exposed last December. PDP noted that since then, the Presidency and the NNPC have been seeking ways to cover the fraud which include claims that local consumption suddenly jumped from 28 million liters per day to 60 million liters per day. The party claimed that it was a fabrication to cover the billions being stolen as subsidy, even when statistics by the National Bureau of Statistics and the reality of the retarded purchasing power of citizens, under the prevailing economic recession, do not validate such claims. It stated: “Nigerian therefore deserve to know who authorised the payments and the identity of the beneficiary companies, if any. “The PDP is happy that state governors across board and the National Assembly are on the same page with our party in condemning the humongous fraud going on under President Buhari’s fuel subsidy. “The PDP therefore demands that the inquest covers the alleged the N15 billion stolen from the NHIS, the N18 billion stolen from the PINE initiative, the alleged leaked memo of N9 trillion corrupt oil contracts at the NNPC, the reported diversion of N1.1 trillion worth of crude last year and why indicted Presidential cronies and fronts have not been prosecuted”. source: http://www.kendogist.com/2018/05/pdp-accuses-buhari-govt-of-corruption.html

The Plateau State Governor, Simon Bako Lalong has said that he is not witch-hunting the former Governor of Plateau State, David Jonah Jang. Lalong made the statement during a congress conducted by the All Progressives Congress (APC) at Crest Hotel in Jos during the weekend Recalls that Lalong was arraigned by Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) on a 12 count charge of alleged corruption and misappropriation of N6.3 billion before the Jos High Court and remanded in prison till May 24. Lalong, reacting to comments accusing him of witch-hunting the ex governor because of his 2019 presidential ambition, said that it was just a good move to recover the monies of the state that were siphoned. He said, “I took my time before reacting to the comments about what has been happening in the state, I said look some people would say we have been vindictive and the president is vindictive, he just says somebody must go an answer for his crime, is it a crime for Mr. President to say go an answer for your crime? No, it is same thing in Plateau. “A widow come to me yesterday and she was crying; she said I have taken somebody to prison, and I said Madam is not me, he ate our money and he took the money that was supposed to train you to get some skills, what they were doing now was how the money would be back to me before I give you your money.” Jang, a serving senator, is being accused of embezzling special funds released to the state by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, two months to the end of his tenure as governor in 2015. He was specifically alleged to have pocketed N2billion released by the CBN for disbursement to small and medium scale enterprises in the state under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Funds, MSMEDF, just a month before the expiration of his tenure in April 2015 The former governor was also said to have abused his office as the governor by collecting money to the tune of N4.3 billion from the state coffers through the cashier of the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Yusuf Gyang Pam. Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, has admitted that his team missed Romelu Lukaku in their FA Cup final defeat to Chelsea on Saturday. Eden Hazard’s first-half penalty was enough as the Blues won their only silverware of this season. However, Mourinho insisted that it would have been different if Lukaku, who was named on the substitutes’ bench, was fit to start at Wembley. “I congratulate them because they won but I don’t think they deserved to win. I am Manchester United manager and I have to be respectful, not just because they are my previous club but because they are the opponents today but I think we deserved to win. “I am quite curious to know what you say or what people write because if my team plays like Chelsea did I can imagine what people would say. I am quite curious. “It was a bit hard for us to play without Lukaku against a team that defends with nine players. You need that presence. Every defeat hurts but I go home with the feeling we gave everything. No regrets. “They (Chelsea) know our team without Lukaku or Fellaini does not have a presence so putting 8 or 9 players in front of the box they knew they would be dominant in that direct football. We tried everything by other ways but they had a huge block of compacted players,” Mourinho said When asked why Lukaku didn’t start the game, Mourinho replied: “When a player tells you he cannot start a game, how can you convince him to play? It does not make sense.” source: http://kobogist-forums.61417.n8.nabble.com/FA-Cup-final-Mourinho-reveals-why-Manchester-United-lost-to-Chelsea-tc28.html

According to him, the actress was the bread winner of the family before her death. “We were all born and raised in Idumota, Lagos. She was our mother and father and all. She will sorely be missed. “Her younger sister, Mariam who is the last child of the Musa family could not stop screaming in shock over the death of her late sister, whom she described as a rare gem to the family. “Aisha had been battling cancer for a very long time but being a private person, she did not share the information with anybody especially because she did not want to beg for money from anyone. ” Meanwhile, the actress was buried on Thursday in Canada, where she passed away. The former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, Olusegun Adeniyi, on Thursday said that Nigeria needs cohesion of opposition parties to defeat President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019. According to him, the opposition parties were yet to demonstrate how they would defeat Buhari. He said Nigerians were yet to know who to vote for against Buhari less than a year to the next election despite frequent calls on the electorate to secure Permanent Voters’ Cards. He noted that there were only two political parties: the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stating that the Third Force was helping Buhari. Adeniyi stated this during the review of his book, ‘Against the run of play’, at the Ibadan School of Government and Public Policy. He said, “I don’t expect anything different in the 2019 elections. I expect that the Independent National Electoral Commission will perform better than it did in 2015. “I also expect that whoever wants to be President, either the incumbent or a challenger, should challenge the process and at the end of the day, we’ll see what happens. “The challenge for the opposition is that they have to get their acts together. I keep saying it, by the end of 2012 for instance, we already knew who was going to challenge Jonathan in 2015. You can’t say the same thing today. And you need a cohesive opposition to defeat an incumbent. “Right now, if you are asked who would be the next candidate, you can tout many names but you are not sure. “And for me, there are only two political parties right now; there may be others in future, but now it’s either the APC or the PDP. All these Red Card, Third Force and others are helping the incumbent. “Yes, the call by the opposition parties on the people to get their PVCs can play a part, but what I think basically is that Buhari’s biggest challenger today is ‘go and get your PVC’. That is not a candidate. Yes, People will get their PVCs but who are they voting for?” source: http://www.kendogist.com/2018/05/olusegun-adeniyi-what-opposition-needs.html

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared that it would not recognise factional or parallel congresses by political parties. The electoral umpire stated that only congresses approved by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the parties will be accepted. The commission’s Director of Election and Party Monitoring (EPM), Aminu Idris stated this in Abuja at the Nigerian Political Parties Discussion Series (NPPDS). Idris noted that NEC cannot go to the field and chose which congress to attend as this would amount to bias. “INEC only recognise congresses conducted by the congress committee appointed and approved by the parties. “The INEC cannot go to the field and be looking for parallel congresses outside the ones conducted by the congress committee appointed by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the parties. “It is the responsibilities of the parties to obey their constitutions and their approved guidelines,” Idris said. source: http://www.kendogist.com/2018/05/inec-blows-hot-over-parallel-congresses.html
