A trader who sells dried Indian hemp soaked in alcoholic drinks (popularly known as Monkey Tail) has told officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency that she deals in the product because it was the drink of choice by her customers.

Adesola Kolawole, a mother of two, said she made an average of N5,000 daily with which she used to sustain her family.

“Most customers who are young people and adult men prefer to drink alcohol mixed with hemp to get high,” said Mrs. Kolawole, 30, who hails from Ekiti State.

“We sell a shot for N50 only and it is my source of livelihood.”

The Seme Command of the NDLEA said in a statement on Tuesday that it arrested Mrs. Kolawole and two others, Sade Oyewale, 44, and Kadijat Mojeet, 36, in Badagry, Lagos, for dealing in Indian hemp.

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, today, Tuesday, June 27, led mourners at his father’s funeral in Portugal.

Jose Manuel Mourinho Felix passed away at the age of 79 on Sunday after a battle with illness and a church service was held upon the Manchester United boss’ arrival in Portugal.

Mourinho, was seen carrying the coffin into the church as hundreds of mourners lined the streets of Setubal for the service.

Mourinho, who was joined by his wife and daughter Matilde, was consoled by mourners outside the church.

The coffin was draped with the flags of the two clubs Felix played for – Vitoria Setubal and Belenenses.

Penalty crooner, small doctor has joined the league of celebrities who perform charitable deeds in a bid to give back to the society.
Yesterday, 14th June 2017, Small doctor in company of Junior Boi, Soji Omo Banke, Tata Sly and other entertainers paid a charity visit to State Primary School, Akilo Primary School and Anwar’ul Islam Primary School with donations of educational materials like school bags, Boards, writing materials among others.
While speaking at the event, Small Doctor said, “this is just my own way of giving back to the society and to help other ghetto kids achieve their goals”, He said.
Meanwhile, parents and teachers of pupils who benefited from this philanthropic move by the Agege singer expressed their sincere gratitude and offered their prayers to him in return for the good gesture.

Nigeria’s controversial journalist and social media personality, Kemi Olunloyo, who was recently released from a Port Harcourt prison after spending 81 days in detention, has revealed that she got married in prison.
Recall that the daughter of former governor of Oyo State, Victor Omololu Olunloyo, was remanded in prison for purportedly publishing materials believed to have defamed an influential cleric, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, of the Salvation Ministries in Port Harcourt.

I GOT MARRIED LIKE I PROMISED TO IN 2017. Yes I got MARRIED to someone in prison. This is my FIRST SUNDAY away from #PHMax prison. I lean towards Catholism and Islam which I grew up in and attended the Catholic church inside the prison.
There are up to 4 churches and a mosque in there plus the Pentecostal churches that visits inmates weekly and bring us the word of God and provisions. I became a “bible reader”. The same bible I ripped in 2016 as being a “storybook” of fiction may have been real. I studied what the prophets of old said. It seems unreal but these things likely happened.

Mrs. Williams is going to be part of my life if
mum agrees with their proposal. Mum’s

trip, which apparently, might take up to two
weeks before returning.
Udenme was saddled with the responsibility of
looking after Grace. I, at the other flat will be
left with my kid sister. Udenme will be doing
most of the baby sitting in Ayo’s case as she
was always at home when the kids are back
from school, while I will be at the steel factory.
I called Mrs. Williams the next day to inform her
about my mum’s concurrence on the offer.
‘’That’s good. We still have a lot to discuss.
Please come over to the house on Saturday
evening, and you will also stay for dinner this
time.’’ She said. ‘’ok, ma’’ I replied.
I got home later that evening, Ayo was not in,
so I went to check Mr. Chinedu ‘s flat. Ayo and
Grace were watching cartoon after doing their
home work, which Udenme helped them with.
Udenme was sitting on the couch with a book
in her hands.

No fewer than 5000 job seekers in Lagos State besieged the Agege Stadium yesterday to apply for job as Community Sanitation Workers (CSW) under the ongoing recruitment exercise by the Cleaner Lagos Initiative (CLI).
The three-day exercise which commenced yesterday, is expected to end on Monday. The initiative being undertaken under the Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s administration is aimed at effecting cleaner, safer and healthier environment in the state.
One of the recruitment officials, Mr. Ibrahim Fearon said those that will be employed will not be just street sweepers, but an employee of the state government. He said contrary to what was in place under the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), where the street sweepers were casuals, employed by Private Service Providers, who were paid by the government, there is a career part in the new initiative.
“We want to put some dignity into it. They don’t only get tax free monthly pay, they are also pensionable.” He added there is going to be an accident insurance and to avoid spending money on transportation by the workers.
Under the new initiative, Fearon said those employed would also enjoy life insurance and health insurance. One of the applicants, Mary Emmanuel, a BSC holder in Mathematics from Ekiti State University said she filled the form online to apply for employment.

It's beyond rough when you suffer from digestive issues during your period. To help answer a reader's question on this matter, we turned to a board-certified physician who practices in southern California for her expert advice.
Dear Doctor, I am wondering why my digestion goes haywire during my menstrual period. I always keep my diet clean and exercise daily, but I can't seem to combat the gas, diarrhea, constipation, and constant gurgly noises coming from my gut! What could this be and how can I stop it?
Oh, what fun menstruation is! It's our monthly reminder that we are capable of reproducing, which is a beautiful thing! But, unfortunately, it brings with it some not-so-fun symptoms, including the ones you've listed: gas/bloating, diarrhea, and constipation. The most straightforward answer for your question is that these symptoms you have are due to hormones and chemicals!
The intricate balance of hormones and chemicals is what allows ovulation and menstruation to take place. Estrogen is the hormone that is important in preparing the egg for ovulation. According to MedicineNet.com, it is the progesterone, and to a lesser extent estrogen, that is the culprit for a few of the symptoms you have. Progesterone is the hormone that increases immediately after ovulation and decreases slowly until its levels drop enough to trigger menstruation. The main symptoms that progesterone (and estrogen) cause are bloating, gas, and constipation. This is secondary to the slowing or quieting effect on the contractility of the smooth muscle of the digestive tract that progesterone causes.
Once menstruation is triggered, chemicals called prostaglandins are released. Everyday Health explains that prostaglandins are important in that they cause the uterus to contract to slough off the uterine lining during menstruation. Prostaglandins, especially if present in excess, can lead to uterine cramping and discomfort that some women experience during their menstrual period. In a published study on prostaglandins and the menstrual cycle, prostaglandin levels measured in women during their periods showed that women with diarrhea had higher levels of prostaglandins in their system. Thus, it is possible that higher or excess levels of prostaglandins could be the cause of the diarrhea and gurgly noises you experience during your period, as they cause increased contraction and motility of the smooth muscle of the digestive tract.
Typically, most women experience constipation prior to their menstrual period and this resolves within the first few days of menstruation. Also, according to Everyday Health, generally speaking, women who experience diarrhea during their menstrual cycle typically get it once menstruation has started and it usually occurs in the first three days of your menstrual period. However, all women are different in terms of the levels of hormones they have, and thus, different women can experience different symptoms at different times during their menstrual cycle.
Another study found that women with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) are more likely to experience digestive disturbances during their menstrual periods compared to women without chronic bowel problems. Not all women who experience gastrointestinal problems during menstruation have IBS, but it's something to talk to your physician about if your symptoms are extreme. Anytime your symptoms are extreme, or you are experiencing significant pain or bloody stools, you should consult with your physician for further workup and treatment.
There are many things that can be done in the premenstrual and menstrual period to try and alleviate your symptoms. You can alter your diet to include lots of high-fiber foods, whole grains, and vegetables, and limit intake of extra salt, dairy, sugar, alcohol, spicy foods, and caffeine. You can manage or decrease stress by using relaxation techniques such as yoga or meditation or by talking with someone. Regular exercise is also recommended during your premenstrual and menstrual period, which can help reduce stress and help your digestive system function more smoothly. Keeping a diary of your GI symptoms prior to and during your period may help you identify patterns with symptoms and food/exercise/behaviors and then a plan can be developed to optimize or avoid certain things during these times to minimize symptoms. Some people's menstrual symptoms may improve by taking medications such as Advil or Aleve (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDs) that decrease prostaglandin levels. These medications are relatively well tolerated with short-term use, although they can upset the stomach and are best taken with a small amount of food. Contraindications to use of NSAIDs include: pregnancy, history of stomach or intestinal ulcers, asthma, bleeding abnormalities, and history of allergy to this type of drug. For more information on whether this type of medication is safe for you to take, you should consult with your primary care physician.

She knocked when we got to the front gate. The gate-man opened. Just before she entered a car horned behind. A woman alighted and i could swear I have seen that face before. US pop star Ariana Grande will return to Manchester on Sunday to headline a star-studded concert in memory of the victims of the attack on her show, her publicist said Tuesday.
Justin Bieber, Coldplay, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Pharrell Williams, Usher and Take That will join the "One Love Manchester" concert at the Old Trafford cricket ground to raise money for those affected by last week's bombing, which left 22 people dead.
"We will not quit or operate in fear. We won't let this divide us. We won't let hate win," Grande said in a statement.
"Our response to this violence must be to come closer together, to help each other, to love more, to sing louder and to live more kindly and generously than we did before."
Fans who were at the concert by 23-year-old Grande that was hit by the attack will be given free tickets.
The victims included seven children and parents who came to pick up their daughters.
Net ticket proceeds will go to the "We Love Manchester Emergency Fund" set up by the local council and the British Red Cross, to help the grieving families and victims.
"There is nothing I or anyone can do to take away the pain you are feeling or to make this better," Grande said in her message to fans.
"However, I extend my hand and heart and everything I possibly can give to you and yours, should you want or need my help in any way."
She added: "Music is meant to heal us, to bring us together, to make us happy. So that is what it will continue to do for us.
"We will continue to honour the ones we lost, their loved ones, my fans and all affected by this tragedy. They will be on my mind and in my heart everyday and I will think of them with everything I do for the rest of my life."
