Now, there are new updates on the story, as it has been revealed that the pregnant woman, sadly has suffered a miscarriage and she was reportedly pregnant with Quadruplets.

The National Examination Council (NECO) has announced the release of the 2017 November/December Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results.
The Registrar of the Council, Prof. Charles Uwakwe, announced the results on Tuesday at its headquarters in Minna.
Uwakwe said that a total of 42,985‎ candidates registered for the examination and 42, 429 wrote the examination in 28 subjects.
Other results indicated that: 24,098 candidates representing 56.79 per cent ‎had five credits and above; 32,917 candidates representing 77.58 per cent had five credits irrespective of English Language and Mathematics; 32,701 candidates representing 78.82 per cent had credit and above in Mathematics‎; 29,258 candidates representing 70 per cent had credits and above in English Language.
4,425 candidates, representing 10.43 per cent were involved in examination malpractice.
The number represents a ‎5.9 per cent reduction in examination malpractice compared to 2016 record.
The results were released on time, Uwakwe said, for the sake of candidates who need them for admissions for 2017/2018 academic session.‎
“It will please the general public to know that this is the first time the council is releasing result of Nov/Dec ‎SSCE results barely 38 days after the test.
“The early and timely release of the 2017 Nov/Dec SSCE result is in line with the council new work ethos that borders on efficient service delivery,” he said.
Uwakwe said that this was possible as a result of deployment of improved logistics.
He urged candidates to access their results on NECO Website – www.mynecoexams.com, using their examination registration numbers and the council approved result checker.‎
Ogun was the best in performing state for the 2017 SSCE Nov/Dec examination.
The south western state had a percentage of 91.42 per cent of candidates with five credits and above; followed by Akwa Ibom with 87.97 per cent and Oyo with a percentage of 86.90 per cent.
Plateau‎ topped the list of states with the highest examination malpractice with 943 cases, representing 21.31 per cent, followed by Oyo with 884 cases, representing 19.97 per cent. Adamawa is third with 464 cases of examination malpractice, representing 10.48 per cent.

Murder Incident reported in the early hours of Sunday 30th July 2017 where police operatives of the Lagos state command responded to a distress call at Oke Ota, Ibeshe, Ikorodu area of Lagos state.

Mobilizing to the scene where the police operatives found it extremely difficult to locate the house which was situated in a thick forest where it's remotely impossible for anybody to identify a dwelling house in the area.
Eventually arriving at the scene on foot, the house where a family of five was attacked, which is just a room & parlour with one open window and no visible form of security, it was reported that 3 died on the spot, (1) died while receiving treatment at the hospital and the last member is alive and responding to treatment.
As investigation commenced no visible trace of violence or clues linked to the cultist group was found. No stone was found at the scene. A case of murder is being investigated by police detectives, which doesn't fit in the modules of operadi of the cult group.
The Lagos state police command is using this opportunity to call on LCDA, CDA chairman, traditional rulers who may be aware of residents staying in isolated areas which are no longer safe to report/identify with the police in order to stop people from dwelling in insecure areas without proper social structures
The command also wishes to inform members of the public to come forward with useful information to aid the police and not resort to jungle justice while an investigation is ongoing in order not to jeopardize the investigation that may lead to the arrest of the alleged suspects who are on the command's watch list.

Please introduce yourself.

I am Chinedu, father of the late Obiamaka Orakwue. I am a businessman from Anambra State. I moved into this area (Abule Ado ) in 2013.

You described as untrue the story on social media of how your daughter died.

Can you narrate the true story ?

I am surprised by the untruths circulated on social media about my daughter’s death . Until her death , Obiamaka was in SS2 and not JSS2 . She attended a private school in the area and was just rounding off her examination. She was preparing to enter SS3 .

Where were you when she was killed ?

Incidentally I was not around . She was murdered in our home here on July 10. But before I left, she was fine and there was no cause for alarm . According to her mother , she said goodnight to everybody and went to bed early because she needed to wake up early for school . Her mother slept in a separate room . In the morning, they were expecting her to be up from her bed . When her mother called her and got no response, they entered her room and found her in the pool of her blood . They smashed her skull after raping her to death .


How did the culprits enter the house?

They entered through the window . We have a backdoor through the kitchen but it was not touched . They removed the window glass, burglary and went in. They scaled through the fence to come in because the gate was locked. Two of her elder brothers went to call the police . The police came and took notes and he went with them to make statements. They took the corpse to the mortuary.

Is it true that she told her mother that some boys were harassing her in school ?

She never told any of us that she had problem with anybody. I read on social media that she had arguments with some boys and that she discussed the issue with her mum . It is not true. She never had a boyfriend because I always counselled her that at her age , she was not supposed to have a boyfriend . Maybe she had a boyfriend in her school but we don ’t know. She returned from school on July 9 like any other person.

What is the outcome of the police investigation ?

They call it homicide. But we saw that she was raped to death. I am not in the best position to know exactly what happened. The police and the baale of the area as well as the landlord association have been cooperative to unravel the mystery behind her death . We held meetings many times.

What is your assessment of the investigation ?

My expectation is that by now, arrests should have been made and the culprits exposed . We are surprised that no arrest has been made so far . Ensuring justice for Obiamaka is the only thing that can heal the pain of the family. This can happen to any family, so it should not be swept under the carpet. If the culprits are arrested, it would serve as a deterrent . It will relax our hearts. Our prayer is that the police would help us to expose those that perpetrated this wicked act. I don ’t know why nothing has been done . We are using this opportunity to call on the state government to intervene in this matter.

What was your last discussion with her ?
Before I travelled , I advised her to be very serious with her studies . She wanted to become a pharmacist. I always counselled her that to achieve her dream, she needed to study hard. She was a very brilliant girl . Even her teachers attested to that . She was obedient , calm and not troublesome .

One of the freed pupils of the Lagos State Model College, Igbonla , Epe , Ramon Isiaq, has said his stay in the kidnappers ’ hideout is an experience he would never forget in a hurry .

The 16- year-old Senior Secondary School 2 pupil said the abductors exposed him and his colleagues – Peter Jonah , Adebayo George, Judah Agbausi , Pelumi Philips and Farouq Yusuf – to rains in the camp they were kept.

He said they were fed with poorly cooked food and that they were only allowed to bathe once in a week.

The children were dropped at a creek in Ondo State around 12 pm on Friday after spending 64 days in captivity.

They were reunited with their parents in Lagos later.

Their release came on the heels of fresh N 5m ransom collected by the kidnappers on Tuesday at Odi -Omi community in Ogun State.

Isiaq in a brief chat with one of our correspondents on the telephone on Saturday said there were times they went hungry all day .
He said, “ After they kidnapped us that day (May 25) , we were kept around our school , while a ( police ) helicopter was patrolling the area. They asked us to hide in a bush so that people in the helicopter would not see us. In the midnight , they sent a boat to pick us.

“ The following day , they gave us spaghetti . We ate the same thing in the afternoon and evening . They told us that some security men were sent to fight them , but they killed the men. They threatened that we would die there .

“ We were seven in an uncompleted building. The seventh person is a man that was looking after us. It was a bad experience. We didn ’t enjoy our sleep . We always prayed that rain would not fall . If rain fell , it would beat us. Sometimes, they didn ’t give us food; at times they gave us food once in a day . At other times , they wouldn’ t give us food at all. We ate together. We bathed once or twice in a week .”

At a point , Isiaq stated that he and the other pupils complained about their maltreatment to the leader of the kidnap gang.

“ After some time, I met with their boss called ‘Chief ’ or ‘Chairman ’ that we did not enjoy the food they cooked for us and that we should be allowed to prepare our food by ourselves. They didn’t allow us to move around…” the Lagos pupil stated as his father stopped the conversation

Singer, Dammy Krane has been scheduled for a hearing in a Miami court on the 1st of August 2017.

The Enterkraner was arrested in the United state for card theft, Credit card and identity fraud in early June but later released after meeting his bail conditions.

The singer will appear for trial on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at the Justice Building, Room 4-3 with Courtney Erik as his defence attorney and Miguel De La O as the judge.

Dammy Krane has spoken about his arrest for grand theft in Miami. In a video that is less than a minute, the singer denies that he was involved in fraud. He blames the mix-up on the agent who used fraudulent credit cards to book his flight.

The Nigerian Sex Workers Association has called on the Federal Government to decriminalise prostitution , saying such would curb the spread of HIV .

The association added that HIV infection had continued to increase because the government treated prostitution as a crime .

It stated that law enforcement agents, especially the police , consequently harassed sex workers and sometimes demand sex without using condoms.
The National Coordinator of the association, Amaka Enemo, said this in Abuja on Wednesday during an interview with journalists at the presentation of a report titled , ‘Understanding the High Risk of Urban Sexual Networks in Nigeria.’

Enemo was said to have played an active role in gathering information for the report, which was compiled by the National Agency for the Control of AIDS, the University of Manitoba, United States , and the World Bank .

She said, “Sex workers face violence , especially from their clients and law enforcement agents. Sex work is seen as a crime and the police raid streets and brothels to arrest sex workers . They collect money and if the girl cannot pay money, she will have to give sex to the policemen . If the law enforcer does not want to use condom , the sex worker has to agree and this is why HIV is on the increase.

“ So, in this study , all the sex workers we interacted with said their biggest trouble was law enforcers .”

The 36- year-old said several studies had shown that countries where prostitution is not illegal had lower cases of sexually transmitted diseases, while Nigeria , where it is illegal , had one of the highest rates of HIV in the world .
She said sex work should be made legal, and government should not saddle sex workers with the responsibility of paying tax.

Enemo said, “ When I visited Amsterdam ( Holland ), I was able to visit the red light district where sex workers work because prostitution is legal there . I have also visited New Zealand where they have decriminalised sex work .

“ When you decriminalise it , there will be less exploitation of sex workers and the violence will reduce. ”

Emeno said since HIV is a communicable disease and had no cure, sex workers should be given proper treatment and not victimised.

She said an infected sex worker could directly or indirectly infect as many as 100 people , adding that the government must not hound, but partner them .

Emeno added, “ Decriminalise the work so that all of us will be healthy . It might interest you to know that Nigeria has the second highest risk of HIV worldwide and we are hoping to get to zero before 2030.
“ How can it end when the drivers of the epidemic are being criminalised?”

In his remarks , the Director , Strategic Knowledge Management, NACA , Dr Kayode Ogungbemi , said sex workers must be taken seriously since married men also patronised them.

He said the message of use of protection must also be taken to mega stores and other places where sexual relationships began .

Ogungbemi added, “This report looks at the history of casual sex, transactional sex and commercial sex . If we do not reach these women , the infection will continue to spread. So, we must teach these women the use of condoms and going for HIV tests because if we don ’t do that , they will continue to spread it . Even married people patronise them .”

Also speaking, the Country Coordinator , Centre for Global Public Health , University of Manitoba , Dr. Kalada Green , said the exercise , which was funded by the World Bank, was done in order to improve

THE Niger State Police Command has arrested a 14-year-old wife from Lifari Village in the Mashegu Local Government Area of the state for allegedly killing her 40-year-old husband, Isiaka Usman.

It was learnt that the suspect, Aisha Isah, and the late Usman, to whom she got married five months ago, were cousins.

Northern City News gathered that Isah had been complaining of starvation and maltreatment since she started living with Usman, who already had two wives.

One of the two wives was said to have left on account of the failure of Usman to meet up with his responsibilities to his family.

The teenage wife told our correspondent on Tuesday that her late husband failed to provide for her for two days.

“And when I confronted him, he slapped me and out of anger, I hit him on the forehead with a pestle and he collapsed and died,” she explained.

Isah added, “My husband had the habit of not giving us money for food and each time we (the wives) confront him, he would tell us to go to our parents’ home and eat. He never cared about us; he beat us every time we demanded money for food.”

Asked if the other wife was at home at the time of the incident, she stated that the other wife went to the hospital with her baby.

“My mate was not around; it was only me and my late husband that were in the house at the time of the incident. I picked a pestle and hit him, he fell on the ground and I ran to my mother’s house at Kahigu Village in Mashegu council,” Isah said.

Isah said she inadvertently killed her husband out of anger and pleaded for forgiveness.
“I am sorry for what happened, it is the devil’s work and I pray my parents will forgive me; I never knew that he would die, I regretted all my actions,” she stated.

The police spokesman, Bala Elkana, explained that the victim died at Mashegu Hospital where he was taken for treatment.
Elkana described the incident as unfortunate, but added that the suspect would nevertheless be prosecuted as a juvenile offender.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) confirms that Boko Haram militants has kidnapped 10 members of the University of Maiduguri research team prospecting for oil in northeast Nigeria.

NNPC spokesman Ndu Ughamadu said the men, working as consultants were kidnapped near Jibi village in Borno state on Tuesday afternoon. The village is in Magumeri local government area, about 50 km from the state capital, Maiduguri. “About 10 members of the University of Maiduguri geology and surveying department were abducted by suspected Boko Haram members,” Ughamadu said.

The kidnapped group included academic staff, drivers and other contractors. The university also said some of its lecturers, who were accompanied by security staff, had not returned on Tuesday from a prospecting trip. Its spokesman said the university was waiting for a report from security agencies.
