This is the worst excuse I have ever heard since I was born. So one need to be in govt b4 condemning an evil being done in d society.
She should have keep quiet instead of spilling this trash with her mouth.
Anyway I loose respect 4 d El Rufais d day she supported her son's rape case.
I wonder if she would have said this if any of her family members were among those killed

When her short dwarf governor was busy condemning GEJ was he part of d govt?
When Chibok girls were kidnapped d whole world condemned d act, maybe the whole world including Obama wife were part of Nigerian govt.
No wonder EREWA women never condemned boko haram attack cos to them they are not part of govt.

When the people of Birnin Gwari were being killed, she didn't say anything about it and nobody dragged her. Now that the unfortunate killings has happened in southern Kaduna, they now want her to start talking because the people killed were Christian.

Hadiza Isma El Rufai is not the Governor or President. She did not have an opinion when thousands of Muslims were being killed, she also does not have an opinion when Christians are being killed. That doesn't mean she doesn't care, but she just doesn't comment on such sensitive issues publicly!!!

Well, my point has been made for posterity’s sake.
Ifa has never been a religion. Religion is a mainstream way of life now...and so everything is classified under religion.

Any way to worship God that demonize others or set boundaries against others, it is a religion. Ifa does not set boundary, all are welcome and Ifa does not preach or scare people.

There is a part of history of North Nigeria that many Southerners are unaware of but which if care is not taken would also repeat itself in South. It has to do with alcohol.

In the early days of colonialism spirits and liquor was imported for the whitemen consumption only. Many of them bootlegged the product and sold to natives. Observers soon picked up that liquor reacts differently in the whiteman system than it does with the blackman, when consumed in same quantity and under same conditions and similarity of physicallity. So they raised duties and price to limit the availability and distribution of it. At one point they requested legislation back in UK to forbid importation of spirit to the natives in Southern Nigeria. Bottlers and merchants back in England suffered loss of revenue. They lobbied and put pressure on their government not to restrict trade in liquor. So the importation resumed and availability and consumption of liquor in Southern Nigeria was no longer prohibited.

Its distribution slowly crept up to the North as the business boomed, particularly with RNC, which later became UAC as the sole distributor. As part of their negotiated peace and treaties with the English, Northern rulers drew a boundary for liquor trading and missionary work. Therefore the North had penal codes that made liquor consumption a crime. When missionary penetrated into some non-muslim parts in North, liquor also went along with it. Everywhere bible was received, liquor was also introduced.

Liquor is a weapon. It is a mind altering chemical that when consumed suppresses certain aspects of cognition usually used in processing and responding to impulses and circumstances in the immediate sorrounding and interactions. Therefore an alcohol consumer will concede ...or fail to recognize risks and threats sufficiently for self preservation....and thus in his vulnerable state is exploited. The colonials were ready to do battle and posess our lands, and in fact they fought wars in Lagos, in Ijebu, in Benin, in Sokoto, in Kano and in Bauchi but they also took many dispossessed us of many lands simply by using alcohol to alter our senses and put us in a position to be easily exploited with minimal or zero casualty.

Kaduna was the traditional land of the collective people we call Southern Kaduna today. Kaduna was leased from them when Colonials relocated their headquarters from Lokoja to Kaduna. Bible and alcohol were the two legacies they gained from colonial government. After colonials handed power to regional government, the fulanis in power began a programme of expansion to subdue and hold the North under their spiritual and political control. Gradually intoxication of the Kaduna majority ethnic groups (kajuru, gwari, and so on) took a new turn and trend. To cut the story short.....The majority number gradually became the minority in authority and with that they also lost vast areas of their ancestral homes. In 2015 or 2017 (can't remember which) Governor El Rufai sought to modify the alcohol consumption penal code that had always been in practice and it was meant to prohibit alcohol generally for everyone, muslim and non-muslim....but either by commission or ommission, the prohibition achieved the opposite. It is like telling a child i dont want to see you play ball outside because if you kick the ball and break someone's glass window I will have to pay for it. Meanwhile other children in the neighborhood gather everyday outside and play ball. Then you watch the child get impatient and with annoyance. So you say, okay Im going to just ban all children from playing ball outside. So you give the order. Guess what....those children will find a field somewhere else outside your sight and earshot. What the child does not see or hear also pacifies him into thinking no one else is playing ball and so he doesnt feel cheated...he calms. Southern Kaduna have been drinking alcohol before El Rufai was born.....he might ban it in Kaduna, for muslims.......he cannot enforce its ban on the Christians of Southern Kaduna. The effect is they will stay consumed and continue to lose their ancestral and tribal lands and chiefdoms. Alcohol did this to them.

Alcohol has become a status statement in the South and we have become engrossed in its consumption that we have an addiction, just like in Southern Kaduna, that our vulnerability grows rapidly and put us at risk of exploitation by the North. They are using weapons now to seed terror and intimidation, a time is coming that they will not need weapon....our intoxication is sufficient to yield to them while they slowly peel away our rights and force upon us a two class system...one law for them , a different law for us......just as they did to the Southern Kaduna.

In the Rufai household they probably mock the Southern Kadunas as drunks. They treat them as one for all we can see. Their mockery has crossed over to the web and lately voiced by their son Bello....who once promised gang rape and derided Igbo, with a repeat derision of Ipob few days ago in a tweet. Igbo people are not at the same level, academically or socially with a small boy whose father is an accidental achiever. So what could inform such a arrogance and filthy disregard. The state of mind! Alcohol has deeply altered our state of mind in South. Even when are not intoxicated, our reasoning habits are flawed....the toxins and poison in our blood keep us sedated and dispossed of fundamental responses to self-preservation. This applies to Yoruba, it applies to SS.

Igbo influence lingers in more subtle ways, especially linguistically, down to the Pidgin English we speak in Nigeria! Una (from Igbo 'unu'), 'dey' (from Igbo 'di' i.e Chi di/God dey), tee (from Igbo 'tee' ie o teela/e don tee) etc all come from Igbo language. The Jamaicans still say 'unu', not even 'una'! Igbo 'unu (una, wuna, unnu, wunu) is used virtually across all English-based patois in the whole world, from Nigerian PE, Sierra Leone PE, Ghanian PE, in Belize patois, Jamaica, Guyana etc. You name it.

Yoruba Ifa which originally was practiced by Yoruba slaves was embraced by descendants from other tribes (even till this day) as a way of connecting to Mama Africa/their African heritage and has transformed into a religion for afro-descended blacks but it does not mean that all adherents are Yorubas or have Yoruba ancestry. A substantial number aren't Yorubas by blood and their DNA admixture test will prove this. Brazilian and Cuban blacks are a good mix of Congolese, Angolese and European genes. Some Igbo as well. Roman Catholicism originated from Rome and spread worldwide to have hundreds of millions of adherents. A good number of Igbos today are Roman Catholics but they are not Romans. Also, in Judaism, you could be a Jew either by religious conversion or by having Jewish (esp maternal) ancestry. However, only those of true Jewish genetic ancestry are regarded as Jews.

When many afro-descendants start to investigate into their African ancestry, they often encounter Yoruba Ifa first but I've seen many of them join and leave the religion, especially after DNA testing indicates non-Yoruba origins. I belong to several Afro-descended DNA testing groups on Facebook and an overwhelming number of results come up with Igbo DNA (some as high as 70% Igbo) and Yoruba comes up once in a while (again, confirming the number breakdown posted previously). Do not confuse all Ifa adherents in Brazil and Cuba as Yorubas, because, genetically, they are not. A good number have Congolese and Angolan DNA in them.

It is very easy to make emotional-based claims but DNA testing results have consistently shown a different story.

In SW Nigeria today, due to the high rate of inter-tribal marriages, a substantial number of Yorubas have 50% Igbo blood to as high as 75% or 80% Igbo blood (those with Igbo mothers and Igbo paternal grandparents), despite being 'Yoruba by name'. Yoruba by name, Igbo by DNA.
Let me start from bottom up. grin

Yoruba/Igbo intermarriage is very few when compared individually with Yoruba/Bini, Yoruba/Itsekiri, Yoruba/Tapa, Yoruba/Fulani, Yoruba/Bariba, Yoruba/Hausa.

Beside Igbo, none of these other groups ever highlight and jubilate in the town square of their mix relationship or blood with Yoruba. To them, their marriage to Yoruba, an outsider, is no more significant than a marriage within their own group. To the Igbo on the other hand, this is a marriage UP. A significant acquisition of pedigree and class. Hence it is a highlight in your consciousness, a pride. From the Yoruba perspective, we are unperturbed!

On DNA, if you observe there is disclaimer on the "accuracy" of the result that is issued. Beyond that....I don't care if there were 1million Igbo in diaspora but only 100 Yorubas....the point is Yoruba is the acclaimed dominant group in consciousness, self-worth and sense of justice. Others accepted the slave master as a superior, Yoruba challenged that. Indeed Yoruba regarded the slave master as an inferior, a barbarian! In the travel of Lander and Clapperton they spoke severally about the disdain with which they were treated in Yorubaland. They could not find porters and they were not considered noble enough to sit on the richly woven mats and rugs reserved for noble visitors to Alaafin.

Yoruba Ifa is not a religion, it is a spirituality. The philosophy and morality and ethos of living is all packaged into it. It is more than a religion, it is the code for righteousness in living. If you were more in number in diaspora and you left Africa same way as Yoruba left Africa, a slave....why did your Igbo majority accept the minority Yoruba way of life? What happened to yours? You were weak, he was strong and refined.

Igbo influence lingers in more subtle ways,
I had to laugh at this one... grin Have you ever heard a trumpet claiming it had to muffle its notes in an ensemble? An Igbo being subtle in areas of influence is an excuse for laxity and incapacity to influence at all. Stop using this line please. grin

When we explore the origin, and lexicon, of pidgin English credit has to go to Warri, period!
Politics › State Backed Jihadist Fulani Herdsmen And Shuwa Arabs Now Occupy 350 Igbo Commun by MetaPhysical(op): 2:23am On May 29, 2020
Special Report: 27th May 2020, Intersociety, Onitsha, Eastern Nigeria:There are not less than 350 Igbo communities, villages and other locations now invaded and permanently occupied by the Jihadist Fulani Herdsmen and ‘imported’ Shuwa Arabs, also called ‘Cowmen’ in Arabic. The number of Igbo communities forcibly occupied by the Jihadists has recorded exponential increase from about 139 in August 2019 to alarming 350 in May 2020. The jihadist occupation is vicariously, if not directly aided by the Government of Nigeria and its security agencies especially the Army and the Police. By the combined accounts of the Association of the Eastern Town Unions, the Alaigbo Dev Foundation and the Eastern Outlook Newspaper, “as at August 2019, 139 Igbo communities, villages and locations have been occupied by Fulani Herdsmen, out of which Enugu State has the highest number with 56, followed by Anambra with 24, Imo 17, Ebonyi 12 and Abia seven. In Igbo areas of Delta and Rivers, there are 15 in Delta and nine in Rivers”.

But in our recent detailed review and update, the number has exponentially increased from 139 in August 2019 to not less than 350 in May 2020, out of which 318 were factually located and presented below while 38 others were added as ‘dark figures’ or “factually existing but not captured figures”. The ’32 added dark figures’ are likely to be found in Imo and Ebonyi States, with a fraction in Enugu State. The breakdown of the current figure of 350 invaded and occupied Igbo Communities show that Enugu State has the largest number with 72 communities, followed by Anambra with 70, Imo 61, Abia 43, Ebonyi 36, Igbo Delta 21 and Igbo Rivers 15; totaling 318 and 350 when added with a ‘dark figure’ of 32.

The geographical and geopolitical implication of this is that the Jihadist Herdsmen have roughly invaded and violently occupied two States in Igbo Land. This is on account of the fact that Enugu and Anambra State have total of 368 autonomous communities; with 187 in Enugu and 181 in Anambra, as against 350 of them already occupied by the Jihadist Herdsmen. In grand summary, while most of these 350 Igbo communities, villages and other locations have been invaded and violently occupied, some are already under attacks or on a verge of invasion and violent occupation.

The Research Did Not Include Northern “Economic Refugees” In Igbo Land
"Granted that there presently are hundreds of thousands of “economic refugees” of Northern extraction now flooding the cities and towns in Igbo Land; some of them surviving victims of Boko Haram/ISWAP, Ansaru, ‘Zamfara/Birnin Gwari’ Bandits and Jihadist Fulani Herdsmen anti Christian butcheries in the north; but they are strictly not included in our research categorization of invading “Jihadist Fulani Herdsmen and Shuwa Arabs”. In other words, those engaged in meaningful means of livelihood in Igbo cities and towns are not included; even though some, if not many of them are potential security threats to Igbo Land and her indigenous natives and their properties".

We must thank in special way Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, PhD (Awka North & South), Odikpo Mmadubueze (Anambra East & West and Ayamelum), Mr. Oselloka Obaze (Ogbaru), Eric Eyituche (ADF, Enugu), Emeka Obi, PhD (Chukwuemeka-Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam),Comrade Paschal Oziri (Imo), Comrade Samuel Kamanyaoku (Abia & Ebonyi), Hon Abia Onyike (former Commissioner for Information in Ebonyi), Ndidi Ndudi (Asaba), Kenneth Odenigbo (Ezeagu, Enugu), Ifeanyi Uzoma (Orlu, Imo) and Samuel Okoro (Uzo Uwani, Enugu). Their contributions and assistance in the course of our field data collection and authentication are remarkable and commendable.

There's a difference between Official and Regional languages. French, Spanish and Portuguese ARE THE OFFICIAL LANGUAGES of EG, while Igbo is recognized as a regional language (the same status as other indigenous/native languages of EG ie Fang, Bubi etc). No other native language in EG is officially recognized. All native languages (including Igbo) are regionally recognized based on their area of dominance.
You left that fact out in your original post. If i had not responded your clarity in this post would have been left unrevealed....and feed misinformation, as you intended in that original post that Igbo is an official language.

There is this false assumption about Yoruba slaves being the majority sold at the Bight of Benin. There were way more tribes being sold at the Bight of Benin (Yoruba, Fon, Ewe, etc) vs the Bight of Biafra (Igbo, Ibibio/Efik mostly). From the start of the slave trade up until the late 1700s/early 1800s, Yoruba slaves were actually a minority/sold in fewer numbers compared to other tribes from the Bight of Benin. Pazienza already showed you some numbers breaking down Bight of Benin ethnicities sold and you would confirm that Yoruba slave numbers were insignificant (2% - 10%) in the Bight of Benin slave trade, even dropping to as low as 2% in 1710, from 1640 to 1740 then we begin to see slight increases from 16% in the 1750s to 53% in 1820s, to as high as 85% in the 1830s (once again during the period of Oyo-Dahomean wars) and dropping to 79% between 1840s and 1860s.

The Aja peoples overwhelmingly dominated the Bight of Benin slave trade from as high as 97% in the 1680s up until 1800s (49%) and were at par with Yoruba slaves at 36% in the 1810s.

Be aware that the only period Yoruba slaves dominated the Bight of Benin slave trade is between 1820 to 1860 (62.5% average, last image attached) during the fall of the Oyo empire and the Oyo-Dahomean wars.

Realistic slave figure exports from SW Nigeria: 437,700
Eastern Nigeria (Ibibio, Igbo): 1.4m
.
Yoruba did not only conquer states in West Africa and took slaves, even in diaspora we conquered other Africans and imposed our culture and thoughts and religion as the dominant way of life for the slaves. Do you deny this?

Igbo was not dominant in Jamaica or Haiti. You had zero influence anywhere as a slave. There are written records and facts on this not just by historians but even descendants of plantation owners who submitted records left to them in family heirloom.

Spread of language is not a yardstick for population. English is spoken in more than 80 countries by more than 3 billion people but the English are less than 55 million people. Kanuri is spoken in Cameroon, Niger, Chad and Nigeria but they are still a minority tribe.

Jukunland is bigger in geographical spread than the South East but the Jukuns remain a tiny minority.

In Nigeria, the Ibos are the most travelled people, they see the whole world as their space and move without hindrance to live and settle in strange lands. That bravery is what makes the Igbos more populous than the yoruba.

Argue as you may, the Ibos are dominant in their land and are the second most dominant after the indigenous population outside their regions within nigeria.

Outside Nigeria within Africa, the Ibos are found in large population in EVERY African country and outside Africa and are easily the most populous Nigerians found in other African countries. 2 in every 5 Africans in diaspora are Nigerians, 1 out of that two is usually an Igbo, the 1 other could come from any other 350 tribes within nigeria.

These are facts laid bare, not your Ewe Ironyin statistical jargon.
Noise is not population.

Igbo makes the most noise and so your chatter registers as a density but in real count you are not even second minority behind ethnic majorities in this country. .

Hello!...nna that's not me , Adadike is not me , am from ibeku ,n she might be Adazi-enu indigene OK... U are Yoruba y are u always running after Igbo ladies?
Any ibo woman that steps foot in Yorubaland all the fundamental human rights she could not enjoy in iboland is gained automatically in Oduduwa Republic.

She can marry whoever shelikes, regardless of pedigree or birth circumstance, regardless of religion difference, she can inherit, when her husband dies she can grieve in peace, no shaving head, no one will evict her and children from their house and most importantly she does not drink corpse water. Above all of this, she can eat very nutritious foods that boost her immunity and wellness, example- amala and ewedu. She gains a new sense of urbanism associated with unlimited owambe. She speaks Yoruba, a world renowned language, and is introduced to omoluabi to cleanse her of the crude village lifestyle. Now check this out....Yoruba women hold dick, not machette, so ibo woman is taught to act like the civilized Yoruba...put her machette down and find a Yoruba dick to grab. So if you see ibo women chasing me its because they are trying to attach to my dick. grin grin
