The (authentic) National Chairman of Labour Party, Barr. Julius Abure, has stated that the party is not interested in any government of unity as being canvassed by members of the ruling party.

Mr Abure stated this while playing host to Akpabio, some Senators-elect and other members of the APC who came to solicit the support of the Labour Party in order to emerge as the next senate president of the country in the upcoming 10th National Assembly.

In the meeting, after stating why they came on the courtesy call, Akpabio made allusion to the pleas of the president-elect for opposition to sheath their sword and support his incoming government to which the National Chairman responded and said that such discussion was “off limit” as the Labour Party is not interested in any such arrangement.

One however wonders why the APC high echelons chose to visit Barr Abure and not Mr Lamidi Apapa who some elements are cheering on to claim that he is the ‘chairman’ of Labour Party.

Akpabio visit to Abure faction and invitation to join government of unity is a setup. You failed to see it.

So, Tinubu is trying to take advantage of a gap.

If Abure refused the invite, they will now approach Apapa for unity and nation building. If Apapa accepts, Obi will not return as a LP candidate, or PDP candidate in 2027.

lhordspy:
Sometimes when Peter Obi talk, act, or release a statement. You begin to wonder if we actually have two Peter obi or he is just a deceitful human.

Imagine Peter Obi saying something like this: (2nd paragraph)

So all of a sudden, Peter Obi now knows it is wrong for foreign countries to interfere in our domestic political affair? So he now realised it is more of undermining us as a sovereign state? Waow. Just waow.

Datti Ahmed; his vice, Aisha yesufu and others are currently in UK protesting, holding conferences, calling on US and UK government to interfere in our election. What about Chimamada letter to Joe Biden? .

Obidients are currently on social media tagging every foreign head of state, prime ministers, kings, queens ( their slave masters) to interfere in our domestic political affair; all these cheered on, encouraged by Peter Obi himself. But just one call from US secretary of state, Anthony Blinken to President Elect, Tinubu. He all of a sudden realised it is wrong for foreign countries to interfere in our political affairs.

If you check the last paragraph, he said this:

So Obi now knows the final determination, declaration, and proclamation of any issue should only be made by the court? Yet, Obi has been disobeying the Judgement of the court which proclaimed Lamidi Apapa as the authentic Chairman of the Labour party. He did not only encourage the disregard, he also turned blind eye to the manhandling, assaulting of the Court-backed Lamidi Apapa inside the court premises. ..

Obi encouraged the Brutalisation of a man who was authenticated by the law as true Chairman, inside the court where he also is seeking justice.

Peter Obi had no plan to issue statement on Blinken's call to Tinubu, but it is beginning to look like US mission attack in Anambra might not be unconnected to the US-Tinubu relationship. Obi rushed this statement out as an afterthought to create the perception of adherence to law and civility.

Nairaland is na a forum of fake news .just imagine apapa news hitting the front page

Do you understand what Apapa is trying to do by asking for briefs from lawyers?

Lawyers are, by default, officers of the Court.
They exercise and uphold judgements passed in Courts. To do otherwise will infringe on their code of practice (professional ethics) and thus risk contempt and penalties, which in severe cases could go up to revocation of licence and de-barment.

In the conflict for authority and legitimacy of leadership in Labor Party, a High Court had passed judgement that Apapa is the legitimate leader. This means in Court proceedings involving LP, the voice and direction issued by Apapa will have weight. Officers of Court must oblige when he issues direction on cases filed by LP.

He is roping the lawyers in. Obi can still pursue his personal suit against APC, Tinubu and INEC, but all cases with LP must now have input from Apapa.

Obi is about to be impeached from LP leadership.

Politics / Re: What Single Strategy Could Have Won The War For Ojukwu by MetaPhysical: 4:18am On May 13, 2023
Fervency6:
We all know about the Biafra war, but not everyone can specifically tell what strategy could have won the war for Biafra.

Let's learn......

Ojukwu declared Biafra in May 67. Biafra invaded midwest in September and declared it a Republic and installed new Governor Okonkwo. From when they crossed Niger into Asaba and entered Benin they met zero opposition from Federal forces. Absence of Federal troops was by design. Gowon was ok with Ojukwu keeping his Biafra. Infact, Northerners were putting plans in place to vacate their soldiers from Southern barracks and return them North. The coup of Jan 66 caught them off guard and they were ready to take their losses and return home, afterall they had exacted their pound of flesh from Ibos, the score was even.

The invasion and declaration of minority regions in East and midwest changed course of the conflict.

Biafra captured Benin on September 19th without any opposition, but by next day, on 20th, Gowon dispatched troops to free all captured territories. This is where exchange of fire with Federal troops started. Infact, by next day Biafran soldiers were already in Ore, advancing West. Federal soldiers neutralized them there, then pushed Eastward forcing Biafrans to retreat.

In a nutshell, invasion of non-Ibo territories gave Gowon a resolve to launch an offensive against Biafra. If Ojukwu had not strayed, greedily, claiming non-ibo lands 2million biafrans would not have perished, and there would be a internationally recognized sovereingty today called Republic of Biafra, with a seat in UN.

Politics / Re: North Threatens To Dump APC,, Makes Strong Demands by MetaPhysical: 2:58am On May 13, 2023
Jatuski:

Hundreds of Northerners who converged on the Arewa House Kaduna on Friday, have threatened to withdraw support for.the government and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) unless the North is given the leadership of the National Assembly and other key ministerial appointments.

The Northerners attended a one day round table on Nation Building and Democracy with the theme,' The imperative of participation, equity and equitable development of Northern Nigeria ' , powered by the Democratic Research Institute (DRI).

"In the communique jointly signed by Prof.Tukur Muhammad- Baba, Chairman of the Communique Committee and Dr. Benjamin Izra Dikki, Secretary, the Northerners emphasized that because the North was not in control of both the Executive and the Judiciary arms of government, their demand was non negotiable.."

In a table that was contained in the communique that showed percentage of votes across the six geo- political zones, the Northwest zone gave a total votes of 2,652235, the North Central 1,742,993 while the North East gave 1,185,458.The total contributions of the North was 63.5%."

The communique indicated that the South-West gave 25.7%, the South-south 9.10 while the South-east delivered 1.45% of the votes for the ruling APC.

The communique reads:

"Based on the contributions of the North in the just concluded General Elections, as evidenced in the table above, the roundtable, which drew participants from all the nineteen Northern states, concluded that the progress, transformation and development of the region is hinged on its stake in government, particularly access to political, economic incentives and opportunities and therefore resolves as follows:"

"Demand the leadership of the National Assembly in consonance with the provisions of section 14 and sub-sections (1), (2) and (3) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended. This is necessary because the North is not in control of both the Executive and the Judiciary arms of government. This demand is non negotiable."

"The North also demands fair share of ministerial and other appointments. Such appointments should take cognisance of competence, integrity and track record, otherwise the region is left with no option than to de-invest its support for the government and the party in subsequent elections."

Earlier in a welcome address delivered by Prof. Al-Mustapha Ussiju Medanar,he said
the central objective of the Roundtable discussion was to highlight and deepen the conversations around the roles and the place of the Northern region in strengthening Nigeria’s democracy and fostering nation building through key players and partners of the region, among others.

He said : "For me, it is a privilege to be a participant of this preparation for an all-inclusive recognition of the place of northern Nigeria in the Nigeria calculations and the veritable focus on the equitable development of northern Nigeria."

"The theme of today’s discussion, “Nation Building and Democracy: The Imperative of Participation, Equity and Equitable Development of Northern Nigeria” is key to addressing the socio-political challenges that face the contiguous northern region of Nigeria."

"The central objective of this Roundtable discussion is to highlight and deepen the conversations around the roles and the place of the Northern region in strengthening Nigeria’s democracy and fostering nation building through key players and partners of the region, among others. "

"I must state emphatically that the northern region of the country, constituting the North-West, North Central and the North-Eastern states, respectively, is a uniquely indispensable part of the nation, Nigeria. The region consists of approximately 68.67% of the population of Nigeria; it is the sole sustenance of the country agriculturally, and remains by providence, the major contributor to the political evolvement of the country from independence."

"The northern region has effectively engaged its diverse endowment in population and various capacities to benefit the nation, in all ways possible; having been a pillar of strength on many fronts for the country."

"It is indeed my great honour to welcome all of you; the Panelists, Discussants and selected representatives across the States of northern Nigeria. I am confident and sure that we will have a very vibrant discussion and tailored solution for an equitable development of our dear region."

"The decision to hold this Roundtable was a response to the current political situation in the country and the preparation for the promulgation of the 10th National Assembly, particularly its leadership. The need to avoid the crisis of misrepresentation of our people and region in the distribution of rewards for political participation in the 2023 general elections, most especially the presidential election and to accept a common ground to hold all political office holders responsible for the job they are expected to carry out in the incoming administration."

"We must have it at the back of our minds as we go into the subject of our discussion that our region contributes more than any other, as a major stakeholder in the current political dispensations including the victories of the ruling party at the polls, and as such, the region would rightly deserve and ask for commensurate rewards from the spoil of the war fought."

"Democracy is an investment; vote is an investment. In a democratic politics, the party with the highest votes takes it all. Our region is well aware of this, and we have invested robustly in the incoming administration. The size of our votes and the consistency of our participation across the region in what we stand for is our testament. Figures do not lie; of the 8,794,726 million votes that gave the president-elect victory at the poll, 5,200,589 million representing approximately 60 percent came from our region. And for every elected Senators and HOR members from the platform the ruling party that won election, the margin of difference in their votes and that of the president-elect from each constituency is minimal; an indication of total commitment to the total cause of the party, unlike some other regions."

"The North knows its problems and challenges; and that is the reason why we made so much political investment as a means to get the solutions we desire for our region and our people."

"Our region is beclouded by non-ending insecurity. From North-East to North Central and splitting to the North-West, the consequences of insecurity in all its ramification has left trails of poverty, death and displacements of people from their homes and survival."

"The poverty figure of the country placed our region as the most hit; with about 65percent of the population of poor Nigerians living in our region. We are mostly referred to in the academic parlance as the least educationally developed region of the country. Unemployment is at the highest in the region as well."

"At the back of all our discussion today would be the plight of our common region in the larger Nigeria entity. We must therefore take a stand of what must be done to return affirmative and commensurate dividends for our all-inclusive participation and investment in the Nigeria democracy and political business. We must take a decision as a region that has an equity that is well above 60 percent of the shared equity of the Nigeria business."

"As part of the plans for an intrinsic discussion, we would be having sectorial pre-discussions on various topical issues with regard to the northern region after which we will break into discussion syndicates. The panelists would arise from the syndicate meetings to make a submission of the consensus agreements from the syndicate meetings which would form the crux of the final Position paper, which is the stand of the roundtable. "

"Here today, we will commence a process that will continue to strengthen the reach and take of our region without jeopardising that of others in the Nigeria entity; taking what equates to our input."

"Today, I want to hear your ideas, and frankly too. Your ideas about how to drive inclusive, equitable development of our region, because that is something that we all owe our people and what our positions have placed on us to do."

The North/South politics is not recognized in constitution. The constitution only recognizes States, LGs and Zones. There is nothing called North/South.

Therefore each political zone need to speak on its interest.

This is how much each zone delivered for APC, see image.

I have not heard of any gaffe or slip of tongue from the president-elect since the presidential election ended.
Could those videos have been manipulated or baba has simply regained his composure?

The videos were not doctored. I Kept repeating to Obidients not to be distracted by Tinubu's self-deprecation. Tinubu uses controversies to create space and path for his focused agenda. So those viral pictures we saw of him looking limp and getting help to get in a bus, or to descend stairs....or even where he was shown bent over, they were all acts approved for public release. The gaffes, intended for public consumption. Each controversy, in gaffe and image lasted at least a month of social media heat. Well, what was Tinubu doing in that time period? He avoided interviews, avoided political debates, he dodged media events in which his true articulation and bright mind and intelligence will be revealed. In the background, away from microphone, away from camera, with no obstacle in his path, Baba was solidifying his strategy of getting 25% or more in each state. All his obstacles are on social media having good laugh and enjoying his televised skits.

Never underestimate Tinubu, he is a maverick!

Here is result of APC performance in the 2023 election, by zone.

Looking at this result table and the zoning of leadership for 10th assembly, few hints come out.

1. God forbid, but in the event of a demise to the President or VP, SS is in direct line of succession to the Executive.

2. This is an imperative and a political burden on SS to prove itself. SS must separate from the SS/SE cum Biafra following, and become the "new 3rd majority".

3. Depending on PDPs candidate in 2027, NW could be a swing region. Atiku had his best turnout in NW. It must not swing, APC must lock it out. That calculation has started.

4. SE continues to be a 5%. If it pulls 40% I see no reason it could not occupy Senate leadership chair.

Politics / Re: Tinubu Considers Oronsaye Report, May Merge Govt Agencies by MetaPhysical: 7:22pm On May 07, 2023
There are many scenarios from which to draw hints on the direction Tinubu might go.

1. Tinubu, in his congratulatory message to newly coronated King Charles the III, highlighted one of the King's focused projects, Environment, Sustainability and Biodiversity.

2. Lagos State has completed a metro rail project first launched by Jakande but revived and funded by Tinubu and progressively midwifed by successors in the government house.

3. Lagos State in partnership with Oando are test running an electric bus project.

4. DAWN has kicked started a proposal phase to electrify South West and put all six states on the grid.

A summary of Tinubu's policy will look something like this -

A - introduce a culture of ESG into public and private sector. ESG stands for Environment, Social & Governance.

B - support EV, reduce environmental pollution from internal combustion engines. Support conversion when fleets reach End of Life, and replace with EV buses.

C - tap into infrastructure for electric dependent vehicles and build out charging points

D - provide dis-incentives for buying and operating gasoline vehicles.

E - use all of above to improve workforce, reduce unemployment, increase productivity, encourage redistribution of wealth and upscale national gdp.

I follow Tinubu closely and this man may not talk much, but he says enough with hints and clues to piece together and understand what he is working on. His letter to King Charles was very revealing, and DAWN announcement few weeks ago was also very telling on what's about to happen. It's not hard to see why removing oil subsidy is a good choice. Timing may be too early, but the goal itself is good for society overall.

othermen:
Yes. Increasingly, the British throne is not averse to diversifying its descent. While, as at now, the possibility is that of a mixed race, and not a person with full African ancestry. In generations to come, a black person can emerge.

If the firstborn of Prince William, Prince of Wales marries a black person. Prince George is second in line to the throne, his firstborn surely will be king. But the firstborn will be a mixed race. Obama is a mixed race; if he is black enough for you, then substitute ‘mixed race’ with ‘black person’.

To those referring to ‘ostracism’ - Harry would not be king and this is no predicated on any decision he has made. He is not the first born Prince, there was already Prince William and his children. Except, by some unfortunate means, such as the event where they all perish (if we live in the seven kingdom of Westeros ‘Game of thrones’, this is a distinct possibility) or become ineligible ( either by renouncing their claim or converting to a faith that is incompatible with being the British monarch. Then Harry would be and then Prince Archie, who have got Meghan in him, would be king.

Parliament also has power to change the law of succession, this could make Prince Archie emerge. ( This is possible, but highly unlikely, because it will be extraordinarily strange)

You listed variables within certain precepts that are one or two steps removed from the eligibility and you excluded their acceptability.

Considerations for you -
1. Blacks have been bishops in the Anglican faith but will a black person ever be the Bishop of Canterbury?

2. Will a black person ever be accepted as Head of Scotland, or Wales?

3. Will European monarchies accept a black person in their fold?

These considerations are packaged into the functions and roles of a British monarch.

Having followed Obi's governorship campaign in 2002, the election and the post election campaigns and proceedings. I am assured Obi is going yo secure this mandate for the Nigerian people .

The Presidential election tribunal commences on Monday, 8th May, 2023 and we can only hope for the best

God bless Nigeria

There is no amount of wishings, power prayers, fasting, miracles and candle vigils that will fill a man's kicthen cupboard with food provisions if he sits at home all day playing video games when his mates are in the field and sweating in heat in their toil for daily bread.

Such a equation violates the rules of divine intervention and miraculous breakthroughs.

What Obi is asking is counter to logic and a violation of democratic principles and notion of propriety.

At the root of democracy is numbers, and its framework is in civic patriotism.

1. Obi does not have the numbers needed to win the election. Mandate is just a buzzword he is using to play the mind of gullible youths.

2. He has diverted his focus away from patriotism and instead campaigning activism. Transforming his goal from political partisanship to social movement.

Western countries still hold significant influence in the affairs of Africa, they will NEVER entrust an important African nation as Nigeria in the hands of a social movement.

The court is just formality, Obi has defeated himself ahead of the hearings.

He may get the mandate he is asking for, since thats all he wants now...but he will never get a victory or judgement. Without judgement his mandate is worth nothing.

Lalong is an idiot, and a fool, for revising a divisive and ethnically bigoted person as a promoter of unity, peace and justice.

The tribes of Plateau were addressed as "arne" by Ahmadu Bello. Does Lalong not know what arne is?
