PoliticsRe: Lagos Was Bankrupt When Tinubu Took Over In 1999 - Gov. Sanwo Olu by meum:
na wa. Make una dey lie small small na.

Oga even before 1999, Lagos was still better than other states in terms of revenue generation. Whatever Tinubu did as regards revenue generation, states like Ogun, Delta, Rivers, Akwa Ibom etc have done. IGR in these states and others not mentioned have increased. Lagos only has an advantage of being the economic hub of Nigeria. That said whatever Tinubu did to the IGR, given same opportunities, other state governors in the above mentioned states would have done to their "bankrupt" states.

membranus:
Then, why didn't they do so before he raised the bar, even when the Obasanjo FG was denying his state its financial allocations?

Tinubu is a superman in governance, let us generously acknowledge that.
Did you say before he raised the bar? I SMH whenever I read something like this. What if I tell you Lagos is supposed to be making more than it is making if the system wasn't corrupt?

Tinubu wasn't the only one affected by federal government policies with regards revenue. Go and do your findings. Obasanjo did a similar thing to another state Governor during his tenure. Did the state collapse? The answer is NO. Rather they grew their IGR(during same period tinubu was in power) so there is nothing Tinubu did that made him a superman in governance. Some Governors did their best and would have done more if they were in a place like Lagos where it is easy to grow IGR and use it for development.

Truth be told, considering the IGR generated in Lagos, the state hasn't achieved so much.
PhonesRe: FG Directs Telcos To Reverse 10% Increase In Calls, Data Tariffs by meum:
If it wasn't approved, why did the Telecom companies rush to implement it? What happens to the money they have made so far from the illegal implementation of what wasn't approved?

adenigga:
Though the tariff adjustment was proposed and provisionally approved by the Management, pending the final approval of the Board of the Commission, in the end it did not have the approval of the Board of the Commission. As a result, it is reversed”, the statement signed by NCC’s spokesman, Reuben Mouka, said.
Why did the Telecom companies rush to implement what they didn't get final approval for? If NCC had provisionally approved the downward review of call tariffs and data cost, wouldn't the Telecom companies drag their feet and wait for the so called final approval before they start the process of reconfiguring their system (this might take a while except NCC threatens them with a fine grin) to implement the discounted call tariffs and data cost?

Now why can't we get compensated or refunded since a final approval wasn't given?

PoliticsRe: Buhari Confers National Award On Atiku’s Running Mate, Okowa, Others by meum:
I've been thinking if this national merit award is in recognition of people's contribution(s) to nation building, why has past and present administrations not deem(ed) it fit to confer on our Asiwaju a CFR or MFR? Is it that he had been penciled down for such an award and he rejected it?

If he had rejected it, it then goes to show how much he holds the country dear to his heart. The argument might be he wasn't in good terms with previous administration(s). However, can the same be said of this administration he helped get to power and has been supporting?

P/S
Nobody should come arguing with insults I look at things objectively and I do not support any of the candidates for presidency yet because they are yet to convince me.

PoliticsRe: Obasanjo Arrives Uyo On Monday To Inaugurate 29km Etinan Road & Cable Bridges by meum:
I keep wondering what those cables are doing on that bridge huh

Looking at the pillar that the cables are 'tied' to, it's obvious it is there just for the name 'cable bridge' and not because the cables are supporting the bridge. grin grin

Nice road. Well done Udom. The fact that this was an existing road yet you still decided to widen it and construct a 'cable bridge' is a good gift to the people of Etinan

Note: Before you argue check the base of the bridge and you'll see the real support pillars for the bridge.

Hunchogee:
It’s not a cable suspended bridge but a cable bridge
In 'cable suspension bridges', the cables ride freely across the towers, transmitting the load to the anchorages at either end. In cable-(stayed) bridges, the cables are attached to the towers, which alone bear the load(which is the case here).
The question is this: is the load of that bridge carried/borne by the tower(the pillar we are seeing on top of the bridge)?

It's just a bridge with an uncompleted concrete pillar in the middle having cables attached to it. Don't get me wrong, the road and bridge look beautiful safe for the pillar & cables grin
PoliticsRe: Vote For Competence Not Religion, Ethnicity: Obi Tells Nigerians by meum:
Nigerians are the reason why Nigeria is not growing.

Religion & ethnicity are the two words drawing Nigeria backwards.

oyatz:
Your hypocrisy na follow come.

People that are always opening threads upon threads to castigate and denigrate a particular candidate for chosing a running mate that practice same religion with him are here saying Religion is drawing Nigerian backward on behalf of a candidate that is moving from One church to another.

The same people complain and abuse other trubes on daily basis
Exactly what I said before. You are part of the problem.
Religion & tribalism are the issues dragging us backwards. All these politicians know it and are using it to further deny Nigeria her rightful place.

N/B: Not every comment that doesn't support your candidate is from a supporter of any candidate you might be referring to.

This is a station that has all it takes to rival the top players in their league but nepotism & corruption have been it's greatest problem.

Most Nigerians are Nigeria's problem.
TravelRe: FG Tasks NAIRAXI, Others On Interventions In Transport System by meum: 9:51pm On Sep 11, 2022
Workable strategies indeed. What are they(minister, directors, staff members) doing in the transport ministry? They just go to the office and at the end of the month get paid, right?

It's just a company owned by a government official or party faithful that's what I suspect.

PoliticsRe: NBC Reinstates Licenses Of Affected Broadcast Stations, Sets Tuesday Deadline by meum:
Why is Lagos State Broadcasting Corporation on that list? Abi Lagos no get money to renew broadcast license?

ufotunang:
.how will they have money when the federal government does not provide a condusive environment for this radio stations to strive...no constant electricity light they use disel at 850 per litre to power their generator to run the radio stations, bad roads, multiple taxation, 700 naira to a dollar... with all of these the radio station will run in a lose and find it difficult to pay to renew their licenses and pay taxes
Are other states that renewed their licenses not operating in Nigeria under the same conditions you listed?

ufotunang:
..yes they are all operating in the same condition.....but not all the owners of radio stations are the same financially in wealth, richee.....those radio stations are owned by wealthy people...so even if those radio stations are running in a lose the owner can still pay the broadcast licenses out of his own pocket since he has the money, he is wealthy.... like a radia station in uyo ..I really like listening to which is ..planet radio 101.1 fm uyo..the owner of the radio station was in USA for many years working there ..made a lot of money (dollars) and he set up a radio station..planet radio 101,1 fm uyo in his village...the man is a billionaire, wealthy.. still have some bussiness in USA..so such a person can pay the broadcast licenses easily m even if his radio stations is running in a loss...but the ones that the owner are not that wealthy will find it difficult to pay their licenses when they are running in a lose
I get your point bro. My point is Lagos State has money (even more than the US billionaire you talked about). Why are they on that list? Why is Rivers & Bayelsa on that list too?
You can see my point.
