I am not a student, but will advice you to start applying to company at least a year before. Some companies ask for application to be submitted early. Example, my company which is a fortune 200 ask engineering interns to submit there application a year before. So u can start looking now, submit applications, look for companies coming to ur school to recruit and makes use of LinkedIn.

i'll be glad to help out,I studied on my own mostly mid nights.I never had time to register for a prep class here Abuja cause of my job. Am already good in solving sums so I really did not have any issues. I Bought my GMAT textbooks from Amazon,I believe you can get them in the book stores depending on where you live. My advice,we have 24hrs in a day,if u can dedicate 6hrs a day for GMAT morning,afternoon and midnight,you will do pretty fine. Also search for online GMAT prep websites that'll help too. Goodluck.

I know a lot of engineers in Canada that are yet to find job after 2 years of graduation and they are currently doing factory job. Some people have graduated and due to the inability to find job they had to relocate back to naija. I have another friend that finished from John Hopkins Univ, JHU na Ivey League abi? After the program, she had to move back to naija because thats where she got a gig. Well, i don't know how people manage in yankee with the one yr OPT and the fact that you have 3 months to get a gig. I know that it takes at least 6 months for a graduate to get a career gig. Well, I guess this forces a lot of people i yankee to marry oyinbo for paper.

That been said, we truly are in no capacity to advise people on their life choices.

I actually wanted to reply the guy I saw his handle and I decided it was not worth it. Everyone gained from this house one way or the other. Without this house many would have coughed up hundreds of thousands to self serving agents and still end up denied.

I personally do not need bobbycashville 's transcript I did well without it but I have found out it is better you do not post than post stunted ones that add to the general confusion of the applicants.

I know members of this house that have never stepped foot in the consulate but have been there a thousand time in the inner recesses of their mind by reading through peoples transcript, in my experience it makes it easier than just blundering your way through.

So pls if anyone must do it at all let us do it well, let us do away with antagonistic / anti group sentiments that is the bane of Nigerian overseas community.

Some people's interview might be short (Like my wife's) while others might have a relatively long interview. Please, lets stop tackling people with short interviews. For me, I do not like reading fluff e.g. How I enter bus from cele, tyre come burst, How them dey deny people wey dey my queue, I come change lane, come run go toilet make the VO no for interview me, come dey for toilet dey pray for God to intervene. USA interviews are pretty straight forward and I feel the transcripts should be concise.

I mean no disrespect to you or anyone on this platform. Your transcripts really helped me.

Do your Public Admin and pray that God see you through after graduation. I can mention a lot of MEng graduates that are yet to find a good job 2 years after graduation. Phd's sef full market now all doing post doc job 40k/yr for years unending. I can mention a lot of PGD grads making good money. My brother, life na luck and destiny. What might not work for someone might work for you. Take care.

I had a bad score of 301 n while dazed I erroneously skip sending my GRE scores to intended schools except Utah which cut off seems higher than my score. I was soaked by the rain that when I got home my phone which I just repaired last week got bad. As it is, am not too comfortable with my GRE scores n hence thinking of taking it again . Post-Completion OPT: May apply up to 90 days before or within 60 days after program completion date. Expect 2-3 months of processing before you can use your OPT after completion of degree program.

OPT application must be received by USCIS within 30 days of the OPT I-20 issuance date. If not received within 30 days, OPT will be denied and appeal is not possible.

OPT begin date must be with in the 60 days following program completion date


HOW MANY DAYS DO I HAVE TO FIND A JOB?

Students on post-completion OPT are allowed only 90 days total of unemployment during their OPT period.

WHAT IF I DON’T GET A JOB WITHIN THE ALLOTTED TIME?

After 90 days of unemployment the student can be considered in violation of maintaining their status unless s/he:

1. Transfers to continue education at the same or another educational institution

2. Departs the US, or

3. Changes visa status

CAN I EXTEND MY OPT?

Only Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) majors have an option for a 24-month extension of OPT (new rule in effect May 10, 2016). A minor in a STEM field does not make you eligible for STEM extension. If you are not a STEM student, then a maximum 12 months of full-time OPT per degree is allowed.

Lets try to change the mentality of: which one is easier and adopt the mentality of constantly craving challenges. I did an MBA in Finance in Toronto, Class of 2010/2011. From an MBA Alumni, I would advise that you go for MBA Finance. In Canada, companies respect MBA more than MSC. However, its boils down to your career aspiration. If you have a dream of getting a PHD then I would say go for MSC. If you are money hungry like I was I would advise you to go for an MBA.

Also, I would advise against attending an MBA program that does not require GMAT (e.g. Vancouver Island University). All they want is your money. That's why a lot of Nigerians dey rush there. Little or no job prospect for their grads, weak alumni network, little or no internship opportunity

I would assume that the main reason for your refusal is course mismatch. History to Human Resource Management, little or no correlation.
What is your role at your current company and how long have you working there? Please advise and I will be glad to offer by little advise. Maybe a Masters degree might be easier to sell. However, Canadian schools hardly give 2.2 grads masters admission BUT a very strong GRE score coupled with a cogent Letter of Intent will concur that. Look forward to hearing from you.

A lot of students are been denied on the basis of course mismatch but what VO will tell you is ties to home country but when you order GCMS note you will see the main reason.
