Applied for one of my sister's, below is her timeline

Application Date = Jan 5th, 2018
Biometric Done = Jan 6th, 2018
Refusal Date = Jan 17th, 2018

The response was super fast. She applied online in Nigeria and also did the biometric in Nigeria but her refusal came from Canadian Embassy in London, UK. I guess the embassy in UK is helping to clear some back log from Nigeria.

Hi everyone I can see u are all doing a good job well done. I have few questions to ask.
Hubby and I will like to apply for a canadian visa to visit hubby's cousin she is inviting us over since we haven't seen for 8yrs now. We will be traveling with our 1yr old son that is an American citizen. We both have a valid Amerian visa. Has anyone with a valid American visa been denied a canadian?

I see the process is a bit fast now. Paper or online application which will u recommended. I am asking cos we are not based in lagos and hubby works offshore. Don 't want a situation where we will be called for biometrics or pick up and hubby will be offshore. How do u guys advice will run our application.

My hubby works with salary of over 300k+ monthly but he has other streams of income I am an homemaker. Just taking care of my son b4 I start to working.

Has anyone with a valid American visa been denied a Canadian? Yes, having an American visa does not guarantee you a Canadian Visa. As a matter of fact, In 2014, my wife was denied a Canadian Visa, she has a USA & UK visa in her passport.

Paper or online application which will u recommended? No one can recommend a route, the current application timeline is 53 days. Apply via whichever route is more convenient for you. I find online route to be more convenient for me.

Don 't want a situation where we will be called for biometrics or pick up and hubby will be offshore - Unfortunately, for both routes, you still need to go for Biometrics. However, you can mail your passport to CVAC once your visa is approved. If you include a return envelope, they can mail it back to you.

My hubby works with salary of over 300k+ monthly but he has other streams of income I am an homemaker. Just taking care of my son b4 I start to working - Make sure your husband includes all his financial information, including but not limited to:
1) Paystub
2) 6 months account statement showing salary inflow
3) Investment Certificate
4) Any other financial information that you deem necessary.

Good Luck!

Not possible to write the exam in Nigeria?

He can't apply for residency just like that.

The intent is to remain in Canada as a PR, the principal applicant is applying for TRV.............. DENIED!
Advise: Apply under the correct immigration class.... PR under express entry.

Hi.

I've got some questions based on your post. If a PR intends to sponsor his fiancee to come to Canada on a visitors visa, can he expressly state the cost of the trip will be borne by him? Or the cost will be shared between the two parties as the case may be?

I'm aware there's a program for people to sponsor their spouses to come over to Canada permanently but from what I gather this process takes a lot of time. So getting a visitors visa and doing the process from there might be a faster option.

Please I need your candid advice on this. Any other person with info regarding this can chip in.

Thanks

Hi,

I apologize for the delayed response, I barely come on NL these days. Coming from someone who was in your situation, I think I am experienced to respond to your question. I am a PR and my wife lived in Nigeria, she applied and was denied visiting visa twice in Nigeria. First, in 2014 she applied to come she me she was denied. In 2015 she applied to come visit her husband in Canada, she was denied again. LOL

Splitting the cost or been the sole financier of her trip would suffice. However, there is a VERY high likelihood that the visa would be denied. You have to prove beyond reasonable doubt that your fiancee will return to Nigeria after her trip. Long distance is hard, most times couple say they will go back but end up not going. If you don't know, if your fiancee comes to Canada and you guys get married here. She can remain in Canada after marriage and you can sponsor her inland whenever you guys are ready. Example: If she enters Canada in 2018 an overstays her visit visa, no matter how long she remains she is still eligible for PR if you decide to sponsor her inland. No matter how long she has been out of status for.

My advise: wait until you guys are legally married then send in a PR app through Accra. If you cannot wait you can try the TRV route but I would advise that you say she is the sole financier of the trip and include all financial documents to back your claim. I am so looking forward to knowing how your app goes.

Goodluck!

Hello Fam,

So, while trying to do some research on the different states in Aussie and the best places to settle down and all (trying to while away time and not get anxious while waiting on GOD to manifest our direct grants via DIBP), I saw an article with the extract below;

JOBSEEKERS chasing the big bucks should head to regional Western Australia or our nation’s capital.
The Kalgoorlie, Goldfields and Esperance region recorded the highest average salary advertised in SEEK job ads last financial year, at $99,236.
It topped the list of major cities and regions in SEEK’s City Spotlight research, followed by Port Hedland, Karratha and Pilbara ($98,027) and Canberra ($85,819).
Sydney ($84,525) and Melbourne ($81,842) rounded out the top five paying locations.
While job ads in capital cities generally threw around the most cash, some regional counterparts gave them a run for their money.

Oya una wey sabi lets gist about it, what's your take.

P.S: In this sojourn of mine I have found family and friends that are willing to help us settle in the following areas;

Melbourne (West & South East)
Sydney
Brisbane
Perth

So how una see am oh *in wazobia FM tone*

Plunter01,

Very interesting post. My salary expectation na 145k-165k, plus RRSP. Not sure what uiu guys call your retirement savings over there. Make I begin find job for karlgoorie region. Lol

as for your second paragraph, that isnt cool, it is awesome! mehn i really do love what i read and see of aussie, but seems fate is pulling me to canny.

I've been living in canny for 9 yrs now (schooled and work here). For some reason fate is pulling me to Aussie. Lol. I'm tired of canny for now I need to work in a different country for a couple of years. I know aussie and canny will be similar. I see a lot of australians coming to canny with the working holiday visa, them full banff alberta working in resorts.

I am yet to find out if the salary in Aussie is higher than Canada. Well, let's see how it goes in 2018. I might be here soon asking for suggestions on areas to live.

Hello All,
I have been reading through this long thread for days now and I'm yet to see anyone with a similar 'situation as myself.
Unlike most of you, I'm single, no kids, no partner, and I do not have any link in Canada. But, I want to apply for a visiting visa and hope to stay there for only one week.
The only 'tie I have to Nigeria is my job. I do have a travel history with UK only. I visit every year and spend 2 weeks.
Do you think I should try? Lie that I have a fiance here? sad or just forget about it because my chances look slim
P.s bank balance says 1.5m. I have a car and live with my brother so I'm not a home owner and do not have assets like most of you.
Thanks guys

Good Evening Kiyana,
Hope this message finds you well. My younger sister got the Canadian Visa this month (Oct) and her profile is Similar to yours. She is in her early 20's, no kids, no partner. Actually, she applied with a 10k naira current account balance and 1.9m savings account balance. The only difference is that she has me in Canada. However, i wrote on the invitation letter that the little girl is FULLY responsible for her trip to and from Canada and her expenses while in Canada because na she wan travel, every man for their self. Before i Forget, she did not include landed property because she has none. The only thing she's got as well is her job

She has been refused EU visa 4 times but she has traveled to Dubai, India, South Africa and she just recently got USA visa. Your profile is very interesting because you have no ties to Canada. Just package your application like a tourist.

1) Book a hotel for about 2 weeks. In fact, don't book a hotel, rather, book a hostel because it is less expensive. Remember, we wan package you like a tourist in search out new adventures and has got little money.
2) A tourist most have a detailed itinerary, as such, pick a province of your destination a province and look up activities on TripAdvisor. E.g. In Alberta, Day 1: You will be visiting Banff & Canmore (You can pre-book for the gondola ride), Day 2: We can book for skiing with a tour company and stuff.

All I said above is only a guide though. That is the way I packaged my sis with your kind of profile who happens to be a true tourist. Have a lovely day.

I will appreciate your candid advice. Thank you.

You do not need to inform them.

Congrats to your lil sister...please if you care to share..what was the reason for the email to accra with the "Disappointed Client- Ridiculous"?

Reason for the email to Accra is that I see no reason why a mere TRV would take 99 days. They talk about first come first serve but I am not sure that its a true statement because some people who applied a couple of weeks after her had already gotten a response from the VO. As such, as a customer, I am disappointed at their level of service and processing timeline.

I am PR of Canada, I invited my younger sister. Her TRV was approved today at 7am Nigerian time. Hope this helps someone. The documents listed below are all she included, nothing more, nothing less.

Profile
Online Application Sent = June 14th, 2017
Bio-metrics Done = June 16th, 2017
Passport Request = September 26, 2017
Applicant Age = 25yrs
Applicant Marital Status = Single
Visa's on Passport prior to application = USA, India, South Africa & Dubai.
Visa denials prior to application = Denied Schenghen Visa 4 times. This was discussed on the application form

Documents Submitted
1) Employment letter from Company (Worked same company for 4yrs)
2) Paystub for 6months (Monthly salary of 190,000 naira)
3) Current Account statement for 6 months (Balance of 10,000 naira. I submitted this sothat the VO can see the salary inflow)
4) Savings account statement (Balance of 1.9m naira)
5) Letter of invitation from me (I told the Visa Officer that she will be passing through America before coming to Canada and she will be solely responsible for her expenses)
6) Copy of my PR Card
7) Detailed itinerary discussing where I plan on taking her to when she arrives. I also booked hotel accommodation in 2 of the resorts we plan on visiting.

I only sent one application status/update email to lagos embassy and they responded that they don't handle visa and advised that I contact Accra. In annoyance, I sent an email to Accra, with the title: "Disappointed Client- Ridiculous" and cc'd Minister Hussen Ahmed (Honorable Mister of IRCC) - The email was sent on Friday Sept 22.

Hope the timeline helps someone.

Good luck guys.

You can easily get a banking job here but you would need so write some exams to enable you sell investments job market is pretty stiff over here at the moment, be prepared to struggle for a couple of years. Stop asking for advise on here, just go with what your mind tells you to do.

Some weeks ago, my roommates and I were involved in a serious argument about this issue..the original argument was whether we can marry someone that earns 100k as monthly salary..most people argued that 100k was too small, when you include daily expense, plus house rent etc..
I argued that 100k was enough to start up a home, if the rent has been paid. Also if the man has the tendency to do better..then I see no reason why I can't settle down with someone who earns that amount...

Sooo ladies , over to you...what do you think??

Honey, my question would be, how much is the lady earning? If it's 100k then they've got a household income of 200k. It's high time Nigerian women start talking about household income rather than only looking at what a man can bring to the table..

Anywayz, 100k would be extremely tough in lagos. Financial resources is extremely important in a marriage, it would get to a point that love alone wouldn't cut it.

Quit educating! But I beg to differ on a few things (expenses wise). No pun intended oo.

First, I'll say you have quite the money to spend. Cos I'm pretty sure most of us international students never spend up to $10,000 in our first semester not to talk of $18,000. Lol

1. Everybody knows that an F-1 student in America is not allowed to work outside of campus whatsoever (except you're on CPT or working illegally). It's not a secret at all so that should not be a surprise to you.

2. You paid $900 for an apartment? As a student? Well, she lives in Denver and that's the Capital of Colorado. Housing is not bound to be cheap at all. It's just like living in Sacramento, Los Angeles, Phoenix all those capital cities. Rent is more expensive. That's why pay international students go to the small cities to study. My apartment was $500 a month for a 2 bedroom with washer and dryer. That means my rent is $250 a month. I also didn't pay for any background check.

3. Your flight expenses, car rental and hotel are unavoidable. I also paid heavily for those when I was visited Canada, so it's not specific to the US.

4. You paid school fees and health insurance, that's also unavoidable. You gotta pay anyway anyhow.

5. You got cable and Internet? Lmao. Does a student have time (in between classes, project, papers and work) have time to watch cable? Sir, my phone was my cable. I didn't even have time to watch anything except during holidays. I had Suddenlink high speed internet, that I shared with my student neighbors and it was $40 a month. Which meant I was paying $10 a month as my share of the internet bill.

6. Couch? cheesy I no get. I was always on my bed. I had a futon tho, that I used as my couch and also bought a recliner for dirt cheap. Like $40 or so. My microwave, I got brand new from resale sites for like $35 or so. TV? You can also get those on resale sites. I eventually got one but I rarely turned it on cos I had a laptop, a phone and a tablet. No need. Bed frame? Nah. I just used my box spring and my mattress.

So, oga mi, your expenses were subject to your own personal tastes and your choice of city which was Denver. Most of us don't even get close to what you spent at all and most students I know learn to live cheaply. I'd rather go for my American visa and have lots of opportunities after graduation than to go to Canada o. All man for him own. Lol.

Please tell your wife that all Nairalanders on the US thread are welcoming her oo. And to take care of you well, cos you be better husband. cheesy

I agree with you Sir.

I agree say my taste get as e be, lol.

I didn't do must research about cost of living in Denver, I was so focused on its close proximity to YYC.

Well, its all good.

Abeg no vex for my nosyness curiosity why is your wife not doing the program in Canada

No worries at all Madame. Her program is only being offered by a couple of schools in Canada (York U, Durham & I don forget the last one). The one we were interested in only offered it on a part time basis (York U). Anyways, we applied but unfortunately we were not offered a spot in the program. This is why we opted for Yankee.

Good day Guys,

It been a minute since i last logged in. Returned from Denver yesterday after a 9 days trip to usher in my spouse to the USofA. Omo men, you guys are probably used to visa interview transcript and departure transcript. Let me start something new, transcript from a sponsor, lol.

Jehovah, America is super pricey and they only care about your money. Advise to people in naija, I beg if your sponsor no stand well I BEG no leave naija. If money no too dey i beg go Canada cos the place is cheaper and you can work off campus for 20hours as a student. I was told by the international student office at University of Denver that for thr first year one can only work on campus, to get campus job sef no easy. My forecast was that my woman would get a gig on or off campus, little did i know that America no be as them dey take talk am.

Eh, so this is why VO's put so much emphasis on who is sponsoring you. Anyways, my journey started in Calgary, Canada which is a 2hrs 30mins flight to Denver. Jesus, biko see expenses below:

Return ticket to Denver = $586
Rent= $900/month, paid 2 months = $1800 (1 bedroom apartment close to bus station and grocery store. Most importantly, very close to Wing Stop, lol)
Cable & Internet- 150mbps (Comcast) = $99.99/month + $100 deposit since we didn't have SSN= $199.99
Power= Got this setup but expecting first bill in the mail in Sept. forecast $40/month
Security Deposit = $200
They had to do background check before signing the lease= $100 for the both of us (Never heard of this in Canada)
Stayed in Hotel on the first day = $135 + $12 parking + GST
Wifey registered for 3 courses which cost = $7500 ($2500 per course)
Health Insurance= $2660 for one year
Car rental= $56/day for 9 days, used EZ Rental = $504 + GST
House furnishing, student style which includes couch, tv, bed frame, mattrass, etc = $1800
Walmart shopping which includes grocery, pillow case, microwave etc = $386

Total expenses for the 9 day welcome trip cost roughly $15k

Biko, ejo, please in any other language wey people understand, after this experience e be like say Canada come make better sense for hustling students oh. I never even land I met a Nigerian girl pleading with my wife to stay in her apartment because she has no money and life is kinda tough for her in yankee. Wetin concern me, I agreed since I will barely live in the apartment.

To people still in naija, I beg discuss well with your sponsor before leaving naija, America wey i see no easy at all. At the end, its worth waiting 5 weeks for that Canada visa oh. lol.

This is not meant to scare anyone, I am just sharing my experience. Make i go back to my job sothat I can generate more money for American government to chop.

Stay blessed guys
