I would be selfish if i dont post the transcript of my visa interview.
My interview was for 9.00 but i was eventually interview by a young lady at window 5 around past 10. The woman actually gave the guy before me a denial, but i just trusted God that i would not be denied. As the guy left and i was about stepping forward, the woman asked for permission to leave, and she left for about 5-7 minutes. I was just praying that i should not be redirected to the other VO guy at window six, who had been denying everybody visa (as far as i know). The woman eventually came back and this was how my interview went.
Me: Good Morning
VO: Morning
VO: Where are you going to in the US?
Me: I am going to Montana State University
VO: What do you want to go and do?
Me: I am going for a Masters in Mathematics at Montana State University
VO: What did you do in your bachelors degree?
Me: I had my bachelors degree in Mathematics
VO: What year did you finish school?
Me: 2012.
VO: Where do you work?
Me: I worked at a research company?
VO: What is your job description at the company?
Me: I carry out mathematical and statistical analysis for the firm, i train clients on the use of mathematical and statistical softwares, i interact with clients who come with their research work.
VO: Who is sponsoring you?
Me: I am being sponsored by the University and the department. I got a full scholarship together with a GTA.
VO: (She made an expression of surprise on her face). What made you qualified for this scholarship?
Me: The school was impressed with my statement of purpose, my transcript and my GRE score. In addition, i also had a Skype interview with two professors in the department (i mentioned the names of the professors)
VO: What did you have in your GRE?
Me: I had 150 in verbal, 159 in quantitative and 4.0 in analytical writing. (She then asked me to pass my GRE score, which she looked at)
VO: How many schools did you apply to?
Me: I applied to IIT, FIT, MSU and New Mexico Institute of Tech.
VO: What made you choose MSU?
Me: I chose the school because MSU offers a Mathematics programme that suits my career goals and

Maybe I said it too harshly but bro GRE, TOEFL fee constitute 5% probably less of his expenses, if he is struggling with that you will do him more favors by just giving him the money... Will you also pay for his TOEFL, SEVIS, embassy fee, enrollment deposit, will you ship his I-20? Go abroad when you can survive for at least a semester... If not Good luck. GRE is $205 by the way

The purpose of this thread is to support those that need help and also provide a shoulder for them to lean on if need be. He only said that he cannot afford TOEFL, he never said that he cannot afford tuition. You could have asked more questions before coming to a conclusion. Please, lets be nice to others and also be careful with our choice of words.

Hope this message finds you well. Almost all schools require TOEFL. However, they will be willing to waive it for you if your previous course of study was taught in English. My wife got accepted to University of Denver and it stipulated on their site that TOEFL is required but I picked up the phone and called them and we were able to get a waiver.

My advise for you is to contact the schools you have in mind via phone or email to see if they can waive the TOEFL for you. Regarding the issue of not been able to afford the test, in Igbo we say, when right hand wash left hand, left hand will in turn wash right hand. What I am trying to say is, contact the school and if you are not able to secure a waiver, touch base with me and I will be more than happy to swipe my card online for you to pay for the GRE (guess its about 300 bucks or so).

No disrespect for offering to pay for the test for you. I know that you are capable but I was offended when someone said "Abroad is not for everyone"

Those cousins were living with my wife parents in Staten Island, crossing to Manhattan with ferry. All you need is just an internship position, if you're lucky, you're in. That's why Baruch is one of the best business schools. Their strong affiliations with Wall street. 2 cousins of my wife went through all this. They are living fine and large in downtown, Manhattan now.

Hello everyone, many thanks to our gurus in the house for all your insightful posts. Please what's your opinion on IGlobal University in Virginia? I got an offer for their MBA program without GRE/Toefl scores, and its the only school in the US that I applied to. Hope applying to only one school and not having GMAT/GRE/Toefl scores won't have any negative effect during my visa interview.

Hope you having a splendid weekend. Congrats on your admission. I'm of the opinion that any MBA program that doesn't not require GMAT is not a strong program. I have a strong feeling that the VO will ask for test scores when they hear that you are going for an MBA.

Been an MBA grad, I will advise you to take GMAT and get into a better school that will offer you internship opportunities and one that has a strong alumni network.

That been said, I'm in no position to tell you what to do with your life. I know that GMAT is hard but it better to do things right the first time.

Good morning house.

Went to pay my SEVIS fee at Cotonou yesterday and here is how it went.

I first went to Maza Maza to take Young shall grow and they said 10k because I have not travelled to Cotonou before with that passport so it is technically a virgin passport according to the immigration.

I was advised to go back to mile 2 and take a cheaper bus that will take me direct into Cotonou which I did, it cost 3,500 (4 passangers). When we got half way, the driver asked if we wanted to stamp our passports or not.

I asked how much and he said to stamp is about 5,000 but if we don't want to stamp it, we will pay 2,000. We all decided to pay the 2,000.

Getting to the boarder, he took a back end and was paying some money at every stop and they were so many. At some point he asked the guys to assist him with some money.

Anyway we got to Seme and I saw the Eko bank, it has a western union banner hanging from it.

I went in and told them I wanted to pay SEVIS fee and was told it would cost 134,000 CFA and I have to go outside to change my money as I had naira.

I went to change at 1,700 CFA for 1,000 naira. My cash wasn't enough so I went to use the ATM which didn't work with my card.

I was advised to go back to Nigeria to use the ATM which will cost me alot of money because of the immigration fees.

Luckily , I met a Nigerian bike guy who told me he could take me across the boarder for 1,000 naira, I agreed but told him I wanted a place to keep my money just incase of any thing, he took me to an igbo food seller who agreed to keep my bag.

I gave her the bag but before then I took my money and hid it on me, and so we went just with my ATM card and phone. (The reason I decided to keep my bag with the woman was to make the bike guy know I did not have any money on me just incase he wanted to set me up which is something they do).

We started the journey and he took some shady routes (which also has check points), we got somewhere and he asked me to come off the bike and get on another, I was scared but obeyed, he reassured and explained that the other guy was a custom guy so he will not be stopped, that it was just to cross the Cotonou boarder and he (my bike guy) will take over.

I got on the other bike and we crossed without disturbance. When he got to the Nigerian part, I got off and continued with my bike guy and I went to withdraw the money and we went back same way.

(Please note that it was because I did not have enough cash that is why I went through all that, so my advice is to carry excess cash just incase)

After we got back, I went to get my bag and also changed the money and went back to the bank.

They assisted me to fill the form and requested for my ( I20, international passport and the printed copy of my I901 form that has the coupon number), I showed a picture of my i20 I took on my phone, gave them my passport which they made a copy and also my I901 form.

I filled the form and submitted, paid the money and 1,000 CFA was returned back to me.

And I returned back to Nigeria paying another 1,000 to the bike guy.

20mins later, I received a mail from fmjfee.com that my payment has been received.

U would have contacted someone of this forum to help you pay na. Well, it's all good at least u travelled abroad, additional stamp on your passport which might help u during the USA visa interview. Kpele.
