mevisbleek: Good day VO,
Hope this message meets you well. I am a Nigerian residing in Canada with a PR status. I recently got married, my wife resides in Nigeria and we are still gathering the documents to apply for her to join me. However, she got admission to a school in the US to resume in Fall of 2016 (we have received the I-20 and SEVIS receipt.
I was thinking that she waits till she gets to Canada but the Spousal PR processing in Canada takes a while. She really wants to go for the program because it will enhance her career prospect.
Is it advisable to apply from Nigeria? Good day VO, Please, I'm yet to receive a response on this one. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks |

bbdd: True. Canada's permanent residency has less benefits compared to the US green card which is why Nigerians rush there because they feel it's easier to get residency..but there's life after PR.
There's also a big phenomenon of PhD cab drivers. This is a huge issue in Canada because lots of grads can't seem to get jobs even with permanent residency which is almost unheard of in the US.
Coupled with the extremely harsh weather, very high tax, lower income compared to the US, Cd$ is not doing so well.......
Yankee harsh but if you can weather the storm, the sky is your limit. Well said Bro. However, PR used to be easy, it's gotten tougher now. You guys going for yankee interview are lucky. Canada no get interview sef,so it's tougher to get visa. I guess what yankee vo is looking for is good communication skill. For Canada u go put documents tire even put land documents and Ur papa birth certificate, lol. Well, God help us all. For me, yankee still remains the best US$100=C$134 |

safex101: Thanks once again, this is just the "do or forget about it year" for me, whats your take on Canada? I'm in Canada, been here since 2009, finished my masters in 2011. I beg go yankee. USA is a better market for job. USA respects degree while Canada respects only experience thereby forcing a lot of masters grad without experience to go into menial jobs to survive. Forget about what u hear about Canada among Nigerians. Well, it's up to you, let your spirit man guide you. God bless you, Brother. |

I will advise you wait for her I 20 as there is no reason to rush ...... Good Evening Sir, Thanks for the swift response. I will wait for the I20. I have not paid the SEVIS fee yet, I was waiting on the I20 before I make the payment. |

Good Evening Everyone,
Please, I am at the verge of completing the visa application form for my wife. Do I need any information from the I-20 to complete the DS-160 form? I-20 is in transit and I am trying to be proactive and schedule an appointment. For those that have scheduled their appointment, what is the earliest available appointment at the moment for the Abuja location?
Thank you. |

I am so happy for her. However, GLO should channel their resources towards the betterment of their infrastructure rather than signing numerous celebrities. I don't think having celebrities as ambassadors has an impact on their market share.
I don't see big Telecom giants (AT&T, Rogers, Orange etc) adopting this ambassador strategy.
Please, someone, anyone should correct me if I am wrong. |

richard870: @Op, kindly compare with foreign trade graduates. I dunno knw why ppl see dis as a big deal...... Its only in Nigeria that attaining a first-class level takes almost all the will power of a student.
Most universities abroad churn out more first-class graduates than private universities in Nigeria, what have you to say to that? Thank you very much Sir for this statement. In my MBA class, the class average was 85/100. A lot finished with 90 which would translate to firsty in naija. |
Education › Re: First Class Honours: Kini Big Deal? by mevisbleek: 6:46am On Apr 09, 2016 |
dicefrost: The environment in private Universities favours education and learning. A student in a public school has so much to content with. From poor facilities to the injustice in the system, not to talk of corruption. At a point, all you care about is just your survival, you just want to graduate. Omg, well said my brother. I graduated from Covenant with a 2:1 and went to Toronto for masters. I can solemly tell u that Covenant was tougher for me. Anywayz, when I graduate na only one person finish with firsty for my class. Private University ain't a joke as people might think. We only have better infrastructure which makes studying relatively easy. Abroad, alot of people graduate with good grades, do you guys think that dey dash grades abroad as well? |

I'm mesmerized by Kachukwu's eloquence and detailed analysis of the issue at hand. This dude is super smart and I believe that he will deliver. He is doing Nigeria a favour by working at NNPC after taking a pay cut. We Nigerians are so used to been led by dull people. We have a very bad mentality in this country which makes it hard to govern this country. Even Obama will have a hard time governing this country. Jesus might even resign after 48hrs if asked to govern us. |

kinmarax: Whenever this kind of topics are raised, most women will use the opportunity to defend their un-married status even in their mid-thirties. I dont have any issue if the goal you set for youself is thirties. However, my main issue with these ladies, is that deep down in their hearts, they are desperate to get married and start having kids. But to defend their disappointments and heartbreaks by guys, they start ranting nonesense about the need not to get married early, or the most popular rant of theirs "who needs a man". Later they will turn to husband snatchers. PLEASE IF YOU ARE A LADY BORN BEFORE APRIL 6, 1991, GO AND MARY. I REPEAT GO AND MARY Please, leave women alone. A woman will get married at God's appointed time. Marriage doesn't define a woman, I beg. |

lestat: The facts are as thus
If you have ever been outside Nigeria to a developed country even just for two days you would know the following facts:
Life outside for even a janitor or service worker is way better than his or her counterpart in Nigeria
Everything is organized, from living standards to security, health care services and even payment systems everything works!!
Developed countries encourage creativity! And their governments support it!
I could go on and on but as u rightly said traveling out doesn't guarantee success but... it sure guarantees a better standard of living. No amount of documentaries or stories can ever trully transmit the reality of waking up in a country where there's steady power supply, where food is affordable, where education is world standard and affordable, where your rights are protected to the extent that even dangote dare not speak to u anyhow!
I read a rubbish article here yesterday in which a so called educated graduate was justifying the verbal and psychological abuse he endures at the hands of his employer? And I was like wow!!! This guy is actually insane!!! Anytime I travel I dear not even speak to interns in HQ anyhow because I could loose my job!! Yet I am a senior manager!!!!
Men my brother you won't understand till you experience it... while I don't support any bragging because there's nothing to brag about only a childish person would do such! But my guy Nigeria standard of living is sub human and only fit for the worst refugee camps!
I suggest you take take vacation to Canada, Australia, Germany, France , or united states. Or any developed country once! You would never be the same again +1 |

Romance › Re: Any Guy Who Doesn't Have A House And A Car Should Not Get Married Or Even Date! by mevisbleek: 1:01am On Mar 21, 2016 |
Vinshu: In order to reduce the level of poverty amongst homes, in my opinion I think a man who has not enough money to buy a house of his own not rent at least a 3 bed room flat and a car to move him and his family around should not get married.
When he gets married in his low credit, the family tends to suffer. The probability that he will get rich is actually 0.5 not up to 1 because Sundry expenses will now become expenses when married. Things he could ignore when single will now be important.
When children arrive, the probability of getting rich falls to an all time low of 0.2. Have you observed that most men have a higher credit score when single? If you have $500 at the end of every week when single if your job/income doesn't change or upgrade when you get married your $500 falls to $200 because you no longer feed yourself but feed a woman and probably a child.
When the child grows older school fees will set in. And other bad debts will be incured .
Don't get me wrong, I ain't saying he will never make it but in the mean time, why bring a child to the world to suffer? Even if it's for 6 years before you make it? Why take a woman from her father's comfy house to hardship in the name of marriage?
I advice ladies never to get married no matter how cool a guy is unless he is proven to be able to cater for your needs and that of your children financially in all ramifications both expenses and sundry expenses.
It doesn't make any sense, what you enjoy when single as a lady why stop enjoying it because your husband has no money or your money now goes to supporting him?
They say women ain't equal to men. Ok let the men be rich and rich enough to take care of their wives 101% before getting married. In fact, studies show most men marry for sex. Nigerian girls in diaspora, taking advise from the Real Housewives of Atlanta since 1998. Lol |
