Wanted to share God news to ease the tension a little bit.

A friend got medical request. This dude already got a masters though, he applied using diploma.

App Date: November 3, 2015
Medical Request: November 30, 2015.

I truly do not have any other information as to what he submitted or the amount in his sponsor's account. He just called me to share the good news. All I know is that he is currently working.

2) sponsor personal soa with 74m and 30m fixed deposit (sponsor biological father). Plus sponsor data page
Doc of sponsor physical asset (plaza in lagos). Sponsor letter of sponsorship
3) transcripts from undergrad, masters and Nysc certificate.
4) sop (with plenty English which didn't work lmfao)
5) applicant data page with passport copy containing valid 2yr UK and USA and french visa (expired french visa)

The dude was coming for diploma sait after a master's degree from UK. He got phd admission in UK and will pursue that for Sept intake.
Well I advise him to go to UK for phd or begin import tokunbo toilet seat since his papa is into business. Lol.

Re-applying is an awesome idea but I've advised them do go with the uk cos they got admission as plan B. I don chop enough shouting and insult my ear don full. No be me be VO na. Lol

Just got info from my couz, they dulled both of them Lmfao. They will submitt uk visa app on Monday. Applied online may 8, dulled today.
Still waiting to hear from the last person.

Cic needs to fix it's broken immigration system. So much inconsistency. For those that have been waiting for over 8 weeks I suggest that you send a case specific enquiry.

I was able to get a $11.50 job because of my over 12yrs work experience in Naija at a restaurant.
I could only do 20hrs when school was in session and I have tried to get a better paying job all summer to no avail.
This could be specific to my location but it's the reality.
Thank God for savings set aside before embarking on this path.
It's your call whatever step you wanna take but like realone said, it's not that rosy all the time but it sure has its perks and I know at the end of the day, it will be worth it.

@ AriseOCompatrot and coldasice007, I really appreciate what you guyz wrote. I think a lot of peeps on this thread need those words. Quick one, for those already in Canada, how gud is Project Management as a course in terms on job opportunities. Just give the average. @mevi response needed.

It's good but there is no need paying international tuition for the course. All you need to be a project manager is experience and PMP certification. There are lots of pm jobs but they require couple of years experience

In the final analysis, only she can make the most informed judgement on what career path she should follow. Also, I put a glaring caveat there that my advice was very biased! I'd still give it again and again sha. She threw a very general question and i threw a very general response. If she wants better advice then she'd have to give better details of the situation which I'm sure she won't want to do publicly.Questions like how old she is, what PGD program did she gain admission into, what are her career goals, etc need to be known in order to give a more holistic advice.

Having said that, the biggest pension company in Nigeria is StanbicIBTC Pensions (my sister, if na dia u get work, after you give your first fruit to God, abeg try bring the second fruit to me o!). How much do they pay entry level staff and how much will they be paying her 5 years from now? Now compare that with what you earned on your first job in Canada and what you are earning now (five years later).

Would appreciate it if you could clarify what you mean by career job. She didn't state what she studied in her undergrad so i'm not sure it's safe to conclude that this job is in line with her career goals. She only said it's a good place to start a career. I guess that's tempting enough for her to hold onto as per bird-in-hand. But i also want to pose this teaser...if her credentials are good enough to get her a job with a major company in Nigeria, they are probably good enough to get her a job in a minor company in Canada, which will still give her better options going forward.

Please, don't get tensed up. He will show you Mercy. Cic website states a processing time of 8 weeks. You are still within the processing time.

You lucky say na bank. I have met engineers working in cheese factory/warehouse in canada. See what I mean...........

From what you've written above, it is not clear whether or not you have gotten your TRV/Study Permit.

I am quite sure that when you see your TRV in one hand and your job offer in the other hand, a still quiet voice would nudge you on which of the two to embrace. Follow that voice and not any Nairaland voice.

However, if you want my advice, my very free, very biased, yet very germane advice, CARRY YOUR KAYA GO CANADA! You will always get another job but you will not always get another TRV. Which brings me back to my very first question...have you gotten your TRV?

How are you today? I noticed you advised him to carry his Kaya and head to canada, hmm. He mentioned that he got a career job, don't you think it would be wise for him to do the job for a couple of years and go on study leave? After working in a professional outfit in canada for 5+ yrs I can categorically tell you that career jobs are difficult to come by.

Before someone will attack me that I'm an agent. I'm not oh. Ehen, I completed the application for them. They only provided me with parents Financials and their results and I did the rest. Only did it because they are my couz, the process is kinda daunting and annoying. Will post their timeline if they call them for medicals or they dull them cos they're not on NL.

One diploma at SAIT
Plus one friend diploma at George brown.

All 3 apps submitted online on May 8. With 3 different Sop/letter of intent. Make vo no catch me. Lol

Hmmm. It's achievable but very difficult. I won't advise it tho. If you do the math, doing minimum wage job for 20hrs, from that same money the guy pays rent and all.

Strategy to achieving this: work minimum wage jobs, do cash jobs at pizza kitchens and post your ad on kijiji to help student write their assignment. Lmfao. I no talk anything oh

I heard oh its sad. We love to look for the cheapest of the cheapest. Anyone coming abroad to study is definitely not from a hungry family. It's advisable to spend that extra coin on getting a good flight.
Ethiopia airline is messed up as well.

I'm convinced that they do read a few lines. I agree with you on the prayer part. A lady completed her MBA in UK and applied for a diploma in business in canada and she was given the visa. So, one doesnt know what to think anymore.
