Crime / Re: CCTV Footage Shows The Moment A Man Stole A Praying Woman's Phone In Church by mexbee1(m): 5:33am On Aug 19, 2019
YugoMagazine:
A CCTV footage has been released after a woman's phone went missing in a church.

According to reports, this happened in "La Redonda church in Guayaquil, Ecuador", and the thief caught on CCTV was identified as a parishioner.

In the CCTV footage, a kneeling woman can be seen; seriously praying in church with her eyes closed and hands together, she came with 2 bags and it can be seen behind her; on her seat.

A man in a kneeling position can be seen in the sitting row just behind the praying woman, the footage shows that the man was in a prayer mood too when he noticed the phone in the praying woman's bag and just then, he saw that moment as his golden opportunity, so he slipped the phone from the woman's bag into the nylon bag he was carrying.

The funny part? he did a sign of the cross before leaving the church!

Politics / Re: Igbos In Canada Condemns Attack On Ekweremadu by mexbee1(m): 2:39pm On Aug 18, 2019
State001:
The Board, Executive and members of the Igbo Canadian Community Association (ICCA/Umunna) condemns in the strongest of terms the recent attack on Senator Ike Ekweremadu by people believed to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Nuremberg, Germany, describing it as grossly despicable, utterly shameful and a concentrated act of cowardice and show of weakness on members of the IPOB and their handlers.

In a statement sent to Igbere TV from Toronto, Canada by the President of the socio-cultural and political group, Chief Ugochukwu Okoro, through the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ahaoma Kanu, ICCA/UMUNNA said the actions of IPOB (Germany chapter) is a step taken too far and henceforth will not be tolerated.

“It is very shameful that members of the IPOB will brazenly and disrespectfully attack on the Senator and former Deputy Senate President in the manner seen at the Second Annual Cultural Festival and Convention organized by Ndigbo Germany is not only regrettable but a sign of weakness, cowardice and complete manifestation of the disorganization in the group which can only be regarded as an assembly of miscreants and immature attention seekers; this action exposes the leadership vacuum the group suffers from.”

Senator Ike Ekweremadu who represents Enugu-West Senatorial constituency was attacked by thugs believed to be members of the IPOB in Germany.

ICCA/Umunna went on to say that such act of violence towards an Igbo leader makes one wonder the kind of information that the leaders of IPOB feed their members.

“We wonder what grudges that IPOB bears against the former deputy senate president that they will go to the extent they did. This is a man who, along other Igbo leaders, stood up to the government of President Muhammadu Buhari during the onslaught he ordered on members of the IPOB through the Nigeria Army. Senator Ekweremadu stood up against Operation Python Dance and tried very visibly to secure the release of the IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu as well as worked towards his meeting his bail conditions.

“It is only cowards that seek to fight those who stand guard for them instead of facing the oppressors head-on. One would wonder where those same IPOB members are whenever known persons that executed the killings of Igbo sons and daughters visit Europe; because they are cowards they will hide within their tails but bare their fangs on someone who fights for them. It is cowards and betrayers that single out their own for attack but will stand lily-livered when the oppressors make an appearance.”

“What happened in Nuremberg goes a long way to expose the kind of charlatans that are made leaders in IPOB; it is a leadership that is bereft of ideas, confused on their directions and allergic to wise counsel. Rather than think that charade of shame got them some currency in the media, the IPOB and their handlers ought to realize they just sunk deeper into the well of deplorable.

“We urge the authorities in Germany to fish out the culprits in this condemnable act and make them face the full wrath of the law.

Okoro went on to warn that such irresponsible and crude attitude should go thus far and no more.

“It is time that members of the IPOB especially their leadership start giving their members reorientation and make them see reason why such act of crime should not be encouraged so as to desist from out of order otherwise Ndigbo will need to take measures to put them in check.

“UMUNN also wants to use this opportunity to assure well-meaning Igbo leaders that they should not be deterred by the actions of some miscreants in Europe as they promised that such act of rascality will not be tolerated by Ndigbo in Diaspora, in North America especially Canada as UMUNNA will stand poised to make sure that whoever makes an attempt to disrepute any of our leader will face the full wrath of the law.

Politics / Re: PDP Reacts To Attack On Ekweremadu By IPOB In Germany by mexbee1(m): 12:57pm On Aug 18, 2019
CGMedia:
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to the attack on Senator Ike Ekweremadu by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV had reported that the immediate past Deputy Senate President, a member of the PDP, was petted with stones by aggrieved members of the IPOB at an event in Germany, on Saturday.

Reacting in a statement sent to Igbere TV on Sunday, the National Vice Chairman of the PDP in the South-East, Austin Umahi, squarely condemned the attack.

Umahi frowned at the action of the group against Ekweremadu who he said has been at the forefront of the struggle against the marginalisation of Ndi-Igbo.

He urged the Senator not to be discouraged by the act but to see it as one of the many sacrifices he has to pay in pursuit for justice and better treatment for Ndi-Igbo within and outside the country.

He, therefore, called for the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators of the attack.

The PDP scribe, however, advised any individual or group that has any genuine reason to agitate, to do so, through the South-East Governors Forum, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo and other legitimate means within Nigeria; rather than resorting to self help.

Politics / Re: Sen. Kalu Frowns At Attack On Ekweramadu by mexbee1(m): 12:51pm On Aug 18, 2019
SaviMedia:
Former Abia State Governor and Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate, Dr. Orji Kalu has condemned in strong terms the attack on the former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweramadu in Germany by some members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Ekweramadu who was invited as a speaker/special guest of honour at the 2nd Annual Igbo Cultural Festival in Nuremberg, was assaulted physically by some members of the proscribed Igbo secessionist group

Describing the action of the mob as uncivilized, unacceptable and barbaric, the former governor urged Ndigbo to respect leaders at all levels.

He noted that the only way the South East region can be prosperous is by embracing dialogue, peace and unity.

Kalu in a statement issued by his media office, urged the Embassy of Nigeria in Germany, the German government and appropriate authorities to bring the perpetrators of the ugly incident to book.

He said, "after watching a viral video of the physical attack on former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweramadu, I was not only disappointed but irritated and disturbed with the action of some members of IPOB.

" The assault on the senator is a slap on Igbo leaders regardless of age, party affiliation and religion.

" The perpetrators of the uncivilized act must face the wrath of the law.

" Senator Ekweramadu is not only one of the Igbo leaders but also a prominent Nigerian and as such should be accorded due respect by all and sundry at home and abroad.

"For the South East to move forward, the people of the region must embrace dialogue as a way of resolving pertinent issues and eschew violence.

While appealing to Ndigbo across the globe to be law-abiding and good ambassadors of Nigeria, Kalu urged Igbo groups to educate their members on the consequences of social vices.

Politics / Re: Invictus Obi: Nigerians Drag Forbes, Atiku, Others For Promoting Fraudster by mexbee1(m): 3:04pm On Aug 17, 2019
CuriousMynd:
Nigerians have dragged Forbes and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar over, serial entrepreneur Obinwanne Okeke who was arrested by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) over conspiracy to commit fraud of over $12 million.

Forbes had in 2016 listed the 31-year-old as one of “30 Entrepreneurs Under 30 to Watch”.

In July, 2014, Atiku Abubakar listed Invictus Obi as one of the largest private employer in the country.

The founder of Invictus Group was also named among 100 Most Influential Young Africans 2018.

The FBI has not pressed charges against Okeke, however, news of his arrest filtered in late Friday.

Nigerians on Twitter have taken swipes at Forbes and others, saying the financial magazine should have investigated the source of Okeke’s wealth before listing him as a model for young persons.

The Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Prof. Umar Danbatta disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by Mr Henry Nkemadu, the Commission’s Director of Public Affairs.

Danbatta said the 3-day conference with the theme: “Empowering the Telecom Consumer in an Era of Technological Evolution’’ is geared towards pursuing a continuous collaboration between African telecommunications regulatory Agency of individual country and their regional body.

He said the conference would look at how regulatory activities of the 54-member nations of African Union (AU) could be integrated for seamless connectivity to boost customers’ satisfaction.

According to the EVC, the conference will provide the platform for Africa to establish unity, solidarity, collective self-reliance in the ICT sector.

“It will build on the principle of pan-Africanism within the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) space; and sustaining a robust collaborative regulatory environment where current and future challenges are addressed,’’ he said.

Danbatta noted that participants are expected to provide varying and fresh perspectives to burning issues affecting telecoms consumers and service delivery in Africa.

He said that vital discussions would focus on the current state of telecom industry in the continent, ways to improve it and how to sustain a healthy telecom industry.

The EVC said that other areas that will be looked into are; challenges confronting African telecoms regulators, international best practices, emerging technologies and their applications for the benefits of consumers.

He said stakeholders from various African countries, Legislators and Government officials, Consumer Advocacy Groups, African Telecommunication Regulators and Regional bodies are all expected to be at the event.

There're some certain things we see people do everyday, unfortunately. Most of those things are actually wrong it might have become part of them, be it the manner at which they talk, behave, lack of judgmental intellect, or how they relate with others in the society, however.

Most of these things have turned into bad habits which they have no control over. It turns out to be very irritating when seen by other individuals.

You can as well be battling with some of these bad habits yourself and have tried all possible means to put an end to them but all effort proved abortive.

Let's use this medium to discuss some of those things and also seek advice from others. You can also mention the ones you notice in others especially the opposite sex.

Family / Re: Should I Stay With My Parents And Invest Or Should I Leave? Advice Needed by mexbee1(m): 3:55am On Jul 12, 2019
Hullabaloon:
Guys I need advice on what to do at this point in my life.

Got a job, in my state, place of work not far from parent's house (rented flat).

I've managed to save up to 400k so far, I've always longed to move away from my parent's house and get my own place, but they'd always kick against it, citing that there's no need for that since work is close to home. Left for them, they'd like me to stay till I plan for marriage whenever that will be; Lol, parents sha.

I'm already 28 years old, so I think it's time.

My colleagues already yab me anytime they get the opportunity, they love reminding me that I still dey chop mama thank you.

Problem is, the job security at my place of work is not that encouraging. I have older colleagues who have been in the company for 8 to 15 years, I've also, within my short period (less than a year now) seen about 5 workers sacked, it's a place where any thing can happen at any time.

So, should I invest this 400k in renting and furnishing an apartment with the constant uncertainty hovering over the job,and no side income yet, or should I continue staying with my parents while I invest the money in a side business which I don't know how it'll fare...

Now, frankly speaking, I'm not cut out for business, it's not my forte at all, so starting any at all comes with great risk but I still feel the need for another source of income.

On the flip side, Staying with my parents is not even as economical as most would think. Ever since I got the job, parents no dey gree say them get money again. All the bills are on me.

I'm just confused.

Salary fluctuates between 60 to 80k

Bro I would sincerely advise you move outta ur old Foks house responsibility nd taking care of Ur bills is what makes a man d earlier u know that d better for u as for ur collegues making mockery of u do not take d critism as destructive buh rather constructive to enable u start thinking of being independent its just d way dis country is dats y being 30 as a guy nd still living with mama is not a big deal, if u were living in developed countries like US u would hv being given quit notice by ur parents to vacate thier home buh tnks to d bad Government its nw normal to b over 30 nd still b chopping mama tnk u. Bros tht ur 65k job is not still secured even if u still stay with mum y not brave up nd take a leap of faith by moving out Despice not ya little begining. [quote author=Onyemadonald post=78449489]The Institute of Chartered Accountants Of Nigeria (ICAN) has certified a total of 24 Universities, 14 Polytechnics, 3 Colleges of Education and 19 Tuition Houses and they have been presented with accreditation and recognition certificates.

The presentation ceremony was held last week in Lagos, Nigeria by ICAN President Alhaji Razak Jaiyeola who said the Institute’s decision to accredit institutions was informed by the need to sustain the high quality of ICAN examinations and ensure that students are adequately prepared for the different stages of the exams.

“This initiative that started in 1972 is also ICAN’s strategy for quality control and building of competent professionals capable of contributing significantly to development of the country”, he said. He explained that the move was part of efforts to address the major causes of students’ poor performances in ICAN’s examinations.

He said that ICAN Accreditation Certificate as an endorsement of such institutions’ capabilities to provide qualitative training for would-be Chartered Accountants as the recipients have successfully gone through stringent evaluation criteria and have been adjudged adequate for the provision of top notch training programmes for ICAN students.

He assured that ICAN would continue to assist all Accredited/Recognised institutions in their efforts to achieve the noble objective of producing well-trained candidates that would achieve success in our Institute’s qualifying professional examinations. He informed that visitations to the accredited institutions are conducted periodically to ensure they do not compromise the set standards.

The result that made me happy: Imo State, it made me happy because I want to see Rochas' adminstration probed especially with regards to the allegations of seizing up many lands with the help of his son in law

The result that made me sad: Kano State, would have loved seeing the outcome of Gandollars probe, waiting till 2023 is a long wait

The result that shocked me: Delta State. I thought this will be the year Ogboru will finally "beat" a PDP candidate but it turned out to be his worst election defeat (I can't confirm this), whoever is advising him to go to court this time, really wants to finish his money.

This is the most expensive snake in the world. It is also one of the most expensive pets anyone can own. Meet the Lavender Ball Python. Only the super rich crave for such pets.

The Lavender Ball Python is a wonderful reptile that can impress even the most demanding pet lovers in the world, writes Richieast.

Its aspect is definitely an interesting one. It has yellow spots on a lavender backdrop and piercing red eyes that complement the wonderful natural color palate. This particular aspect appears due to a color mutation, thanks to a recessive genetic trait and this anomaly makes it even more interesting in the eyes of collectors.

This fabulous pet, is originally from Africa and it was considered the most expensive pet in the world for decades. Meanwhile, Lavender Albino Ball Python has lost this title but it’s still a luxury pet taking into consideration the fact that it costs somewhere around $40.000(about N14 million).
