RuudVanNisteroy: The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been asked to probe the administrations of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Works, Babtunde Raji Fashola (SAN) as governors of Lagos state.
Asiwaju Tinubu was governor of the state between 1999 and 2007 while Fashola also governed the state between 2007 and 2015.
The petitioner, Coalition Against Corruption and Impunity, in the petition to EFCC and signed by John Olufemi and Mohammed Sanni, Coordinator and Secretary, respectively, asked the anti-graft agency to look into the activities of the two former governors between 1999 and 2015 when they governed the state.
The petition, dated July 24, 2020, was copied to the Attorney General of the Federation, and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN) and the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.
According to the organisation, the law enforcement agencies, over the years, appear uninterested and unwilling to probe allegations of infractions allegedly committed in Lagos under Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Babatunde Fashola as governors.
The coalition asked the anti-corruption agency to undertake a holistic investigation of the two former governors, especially in the areas of land administration, tax collections and other areas. Parts of allegations the coalition is asking the commission to look into are the development of 1,000 hectares of land for golf course and housing estate by Asset and Resource Management Limited at Lakowe near Ibeju Lekki local government allegedly given to Lekki Concession Company (LCC).
Other allegations the coalition is asking the commission to probe are the 250 hectare of land located at Ajah Junction on Lekki road originally meant for the construction of General Hospital for Eti-Osa local government, transfer of the annex of Lagos state Guest House in Asokoro, Abuja, purchased by the Lagos state government in 2006 for N450 million to protect the main building from security breach, and a 14-hectare Parkview Ikoyi estate foreshore land reclaimed by Lagos state government.
The coalition said, ”It is in this light that we write to request that you use your good offices to allow for thorough and detailed investigations into the activities of the Lagos state government, especially between 1999 and 2015.”
“As citizens, we are alarmed by mind-boggling wrongdoing perpetrated during this period and we are even more perplexed that the law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies have over the years appeared uninterested and unwilling to probe the many allegations of infractions allegedly committed in Lagos state.
”We believe the fight against corruption should be absolute and total with no sacred cows allowed. No territory or individual under the Federal Republic of Nigeria should be beyond investigation of the anti-corruption agencies. Inaction on matters like this is a huge dent to the government’s claim to fight against corruption.”

Gemid94: Three kidnappers were killed in a gun battle and two of their informants arrested early Saturday morning along Lokoja-Okene highway by team of hunters and neighbourhood watch from Okehi and Adavi LGAs of the state.
The kidnappers who were planning to stage an attack on innocent citizens that ply the Lokoja-Okene road, met their waterloo when two of their informants were arrested.
The Senior Special Adviser (SSA) Security incharge of Okehi Local Government Area, Hon Abdulraheem Ohiare and his Adavi counterpart, Hon Joseph Omuya Salami, had led the hunters to the hideouts of the kidnappers following intelligent report.

Four Policemen have been killed by armed robbers in Ezzamgbo, Ebonyi State.
According to an eyewitness who shared the report to IGBERE TV, the armed robbers blocked a van conveying a huge amount of money to a new generational bank and started shooting sporadically.
"They blocked the van but the driver refused to stop."
"The armed robbers started shooting sporadically and also exchanged gun shots with the policemen leading to the death of four Policemen while others were injured".
"They couldn't steal the money as the driver of the vehicle was able to escape with money but with a wound on his hand", he said.
As at the time of filing this report, their bodies have been evacuated to a nearby hospital.

Vianna: In my opinion, I think it's no longer as lucrative as it used to be and it's a very sorry situation. A lot of lawyers roaming the streets, they are suffering. Some of the many problems are
1. Too many graduates, little job slots
2. Senior colleagues are not ready to give the younger ones a chance
Most lawyers are "charge and bail" . They roam the streets and advertise their services to potential clients and they don't even have a place to call office. Many of them loiter in court premises all day under the hot sun and await the arrival of the police, hoping that the police would bring some accused persons who do not have lawyers to defend them. The moment this happens, the lawyer would approach the accused (usually agberos, louts and unfortunate Nigerians who the police had decided to transfer his frustrations on. ) and offer his service either directly to the accused persons, or through his relatives or friends who followed him to court. After a certain meagre fee is paid. The lawyer will appear before the magistrate and orally apply for bail, which in most cases would be granted if the offence(s) is a bailable one.
Being a lawyer in today's Nigeria is overrated, studying in school for 5 years to become a lawyer is a waste of time. To me it's more meaningful if used as a part time job while you venture into business or entrepreneurship.
Its is a very overrated proffesion now in Nija na only for University dem get level hahahah

The State since 1999 has been govern by governors from the PDP political party starting from;
ex governor Chief James Ibori 1999 - 2007 ex governor Emmanuel Uduaghan 2007 - 2015 and incumbent governor Ifeanyi Okowa. 2015 - NOW (2020)
Delta State is the third richest state in Nigeria after Lagos and Rivers State in terms of GDP yet I'm afraid there ain't much to show for it. Warri like every other city in Nigeria has it's most beautiful and ugly sides (Lagos inclusive) so please no unwarranted noise or fuss about it.

kidap: Dbanj procured the services of controversial and foremost Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mike Ozekhome (SAN), to slam a libel suit of N1.5 billion naira on the Ms. Seyitan, a lady who had accused him of rape.
The accuser, Ms. Seyitan, had alleged that Dbanj raped her on December 31, 2018, at Glee Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos.
She revealed that the popular musician after acquainting with her at a party earlier where she had turned down his advances for intimacy –
– had driven all the way from Eko hotel where he was staying and came down to Glee hotel in Victoria Island at midnight 2.40 am
– collected her room’s spare key from the receptionist and forcefully gained access into her room threatening to walk her out of the room naked if she refused him even as he kept his fingers in her vagina and repeatedly raped her.
