safarigirl:
Forgiveness attacked Rohr's person by blatantly accusing him of corruption WITHOUT proof.

Why don't you call forgiveness to order first? Respect begets respect, you cannot be disrespectful to one man and expect another to be respectful to you

He questioned Rohr's integrity without trying to look at the list from a logical point of view because logic is something forgiveness would rather discard when his boys are not in the team.

Mickael2, just like Chris advised me when Supernerd had that issue with Piet, talk to your friend first and stop telling us what keeps this thread going, because, in case you have forgotten, it is forgiveness and his spurious, careless words that have caused numerous arguments on this thread.

He is a constant with that, forgiveness needs to be called to order, if his person has to be dragged to ensure he does not get away with dragging the man who has had a stellar record in our National team, by all means, we should drag him.

Between an anonymous internet analyst like Forgiveness and the coach of a top African football team, whose personality should be protected? Or do you think the weight of allegations of corruption is something that should be treated with tender hands?

Forgiveness should tender an unreserved apology to Rohr and drop his idiotic arguments. That is what should happen here
Ok what is corruption? Let me taje you up on that. Why was Ahmed Musa invited? You will say there are extra non-footballing reasons why he was invited and I will ask why should non-footballing reasons be implemented in football? That is corruption and lack of merit, however we all have our values and community standards, I do not like going about shouting corruption but he does and if you study it from his own context he may be right, it is left for you to come out and defend Rohr's integrity. Haven't you seen me defending Nwakali's invitation? And what is this rubbish about forgiveness being my comrade? Well I have no enemy around here so he is my friend but if you think we always come to eachother's rescue then you are mistaking, we agree on virtually nothing except Martins maybe. And I am not saying these things because it's forgiveness, I would run to the defence of anybody who gets attacked like that, I didn't quote your own comment because I know you are not willing to learn

I began typing to address the needless attack on the person of forgiveness but I just stopped. Forgiveness has his queerness and eccentricities but I do not think it's gotten to the level of using such disparaging words on him as realpoacher did. No! Cos he's shown considerable maturity in not hurling back invectives. Personally I don't think I would take such insults. Lie lie
Exactly. I think people have made a habit of having a go at Forgiveness for no sane reason. Will you agree with me that if it was Forgiveness that said we will lose to Algeria they would attack him for that? I think this effect is from the older members of the thread, I really admire arguments between tbaba and the same forgiveness, between Komekn and anybody who wants to counter his points, theGoodjoe can go low sometimes but 95% of the time he maintains his cool and this is also why I appreciate guys like you and Soentaoroluwa(hope the spelling is right this time grin). I think we should adopt these kinda behaviour

Explain on what basis you used the term totally that means undoubtedly without question.

Please I want to be educated quite seriously.
I will.

We have seen that Rohr likes versatile players. Now this guy is a guy who can do a job as the engine room of a team, as the DMF or as a LB, now I haven't watched Tega and he may deserve his spot but for Tega to come in, another midfielder has to leave but for Nwakali to come in nobody has to leave, we only have one leftback in the team currently and that makes his inclusion a no brainer. I have been clamouring for a LB who actually plays at LB and if Nwakali can do that job we are set for 7-8 years to come and he sure does have the quality

All the players that have not played any match or played few minutes: Ogu, Nwakaeme, Onyekuru, Ebuehi, Uche Agbo, Awaziem, Aina Etebo (he's now in that category). I am not naive to think that Rohr would feature all of them though but more than three could start.
Ehhhhh but I wouldn't be suprised if our midfield combo remains Mikel/Ndidi/Onazi atleast for the first 60mins and the middle controls the game so...

I am so happy Rohr didn't listen to people like you by inviting kayode who to me is "blunt" striker ie striker wey no sharp, striker wey no sabi score goals just like his brother in crime Ideye.

It baffles me that you don't know that Kayode is not the type of striker you hope to deliver you when you are losing 2 nil with the time running down, and I am tempted to think that your sense judgment of a player's ability is flawed, either that or what you are doing is a premeditated calculated attempt at imposing incompetent players on us.

Infact I want to believe that you are an agent and have collected money from these below par players with a promise of a slot into SE and now that your mission is not achieved, you are beginning to scream blue murder!

I won't be surprised that it was your type that fostered the likes of Rueben Gabriel, Ajagun, Uchebo, Babatunde on keshi at 2014 WC spoiling our eyes with that dirty display at the Mundial while you smiled to the bank. Be careful, because right now I am beginning to suspect you.

I mean look at the players you are suggesting that Rohr invites to the SE, Martins, Taiye Taiwo, Kayode, Onuoha, Raheem, etc all mediocres. Don't you have eyes to spot a good footballer?... Or you are just being mischievously stupid?

Now you are foaming from both sides of your mouth because your paid players are not invited.

With the performances of Ezenwa so far, if given the chance you will rather drop him for Alampasu and Ajiboye...Guy behave o!

Making sound decisions and judgments in football matters does not equate to shouting upandan on nairaland and littering our phone screens with lopsided mentions.

In conclusion, I will call on other sensible members of this thread to stand up against people like @forgiveness who only have their own selfish interest at heart at the expense of the overall success of the Super Eagles.

So far we all have done a good job at keeping people like him at bay but the battle is not won yet until the final 23 list for the world Cup is drafted and mediocres{like his suggestions} are far away from it.
the things that keep this thread going include, among others, respect and tolerance. You literally just attacked the person himself instead of countering his points, that is totally uncalled for and should not be promoted

No. By 'middle' I mean the two CBs and the three midfielders, these are the main guys and they will remain thesame, it doesn't change anything if you are the LB and you keep on performing, you can't come into the middle to create

if they are deploying him as a wingback then it's their loss, he is quite good going forward and defensively as well, I think he plays as a DMF as well so it is easy to understand why they want him in that wingback role. However this begs the question as to why Rohr invited him? I am guessing Echejile finally has some competition and if that is the case I'd elect Chidi to start ahead of him any day

I don't hear much about him. In fact it is his younger brother Kc who is more in the limelight. Shey he is one of Manu boys as in Iheanacho u17 winning set? Is he that good?
dude is way way better than his junior brother, I have to say it straight and short, I do not find that his brother special compared to Chidiebere himself. He has better managers as well, if not he would be in an Epl team right now, if that would have been good for his development is another thing entirely but I believe he is making the right choices. The guy is a total baller, I believe he can play AMF and from the wings and also as a SS, I'd best deploy him as an AMF right about now.

I said it back then that when the list will be released it will show which result we would go home with, of course we won't be walloped(2-0 isn't a hiding is it?) but even we lose by a single goal and get totally outplayed then it's an issue, if we lose 4-0 playing good football then I am ok

That is football.
Do not use Vanzekin, dude retired from football to chase his dreams of becoming an engineer, he would still be a top GK now if he stayed, dude was class. Lookman is a very good player and he plays like a champion.

The Olayinkas and Onyekurus are our own but lookman needs to be invited just to be capped for us to be guaranteed he is ours. This is because he could be another Alaba or Ali. grin

I want NFF to move for Onomah, Ojo, Lookman, Iorfa, Ilori, Solanke and Ameobi.

These boys are very talented. Trust me. grin

there are so many things working against us.

The most important of all is the fact that they have a new coach. Like theGoodJoe already pointed out, they will watch that first leg and realize that they could have won, they played a whole lot better than we did, they will duly blame it on the failed coach and look to impress.

If we on the other hand invite thesame set of players that we normally do, we will lose. What's there to play for? Who doesn't want to face Argentina? For now I am not concerned about the result, we most definelty won't win, but if we play well then I am fine, if we don't....

Odemwingie Scores First Goal In 3 Months In Madura Win, Nwokolo On Target
October 29, 2017 12:36 pm

By James Agberebi:
Former Super Eagles striker Osaze Odemwingie scored his first goal in three months for 10-man Madura United in their 4-3 away win against Persiba in the Indonesian Super League on Sunday.

Odemwingie’s last goal was also against Persiba in a 1-0 home win back in July this year before being sidelined with injury.

He had also provided an assist for Nigerian-born Indonesian international Gregory Nwokolo for Madura’s second goal in the win against Persiba back in July.

Madura went 1-0 up through Fabiano on 24 minutes but a brace from Marlon Silva (42nd, 47th minutes) gave Persiba a 2-1 lead.

Nwokolo drew Madura level in the 57th minute before Srdjan Lopicic restored the home side’s lead on 77 minutes.

Prior to Lopicic’s goal, Fabiano was sent off in the 62nd minute after receiving his second yellow card.

Odemwingie made it 3-3 in the 78th minute before Nwokolo scored the winner in the 93rd minute.

Odemwingie has now scored 14 goals in 21 league appearances for Madura United who are now fifth on 57 points in the league table.

I want Shehu to be tested against a rampaging winger. I'd also love to see Aina play at RB. But since the idea now is to use inverted wingers who like to cut in and use their preferred stronger foot, don't you think using inverted full backs will soon be in vogue?
inverted fullbacks will NEVER be in use. Fullbacks are meant to stop crosses and that means a RB for example must fall into an awkward position where he can only clear the ball with his right foot so if he is dominantly left-footed he will make a mistake. This is why playing Dani Alves as an inverted winger(which was tried by Guardiola) will not work, despite him being the best RB presently. Like I said, I want Aina at RB

In summary your problem with this team is fullbacks and CF.

Due to this u are recommending Taiye Taiwo,Obafemi Martins,Osaze Odenwegie,Ike Uche.

But why d old legs and not young ones like Stanley Amuzie, Ransome Madu as LB,Kayode Olarewaju, Peter Onwuachi as CF(9)
Stanley Amuzie and Madu are hardly starters in their clubs, I love Madu but he is not there yet. I guess the coach has invited Kayode and watched him yet decided that he isn't good enough, so we move on

Seniority should not be an issue

I don't see big deal in it,a mature player doesn't care about captainships but what he want to contribute to d team.

I remember in d 80s during our qualifying matches to Afcon,WC,Paul Halmiton made Andrew Uwe d captain of d team in d absence of Stephen Keshi, when Keshi returned to d team,Uwe still maintained his captain band with no issue.

The same thing happened during Onigbinde era in 1984,young Keshi was made d captain at d expense of very experience Muda Lawal and Henry Nwosu,d team played very well reaching afcon final.

Sunday Olishe was named Eagles skipper ahead of Finidi George and d team did not scattered,d bond was even stronger.

Kanu captain Atlanta 96 despite d presence of Uche Okechuckwu,Sunday Olishe,Dan,Amokachie, Taribo West,Tijani Babangida,Emma Amuneke, Victor Ikpeba and d team was spectacular,no distraction in d team.

It's simple any old player who is not comfortable with Mikel leadership is not ready to be part of d team coz it shouldn't be an issue.
the point isn't captaincy etc etc. Mikel is the captain(I sha think Enyeama will take it back) and Onazi isn't the assistant, but that does not make them their senior. I mean when you are in a hospital and you are with a senior nurse you must show your respect, that does not mean you aren't incharge again.

right in what?
clamouring for old players to be recalled back to the SE....
same players whose experience and potentials could not a fetch a deal in any top 5 league in the world...not even in Italy a league where good and experienced old legs play....

bro ...there is no right there...
you're very good in tactics...but your players selection is otherwise....

I have no doubt many of us here will make poor coaches in players selection and even tactics than rohr....we criticize everyday.

I remember the next old player that will be argued for...will be taye taiwo....
Point of correction.

You see everybody misunderstands the point. I am not saying call back Martins, Osaze etc etc and plug them straight into the starting eleven and do away with the other players, no. Iheanacho, Ighalo, Moses Simon etc etc have been playing since, how and why can we not sacrifice a single game for the likes of Martins, Osaze etc etc to show what they can still offer? If they come and play well, fine, if they don't we have nothing to lose, it's a win-win situation. We are going to the world cup, not Afcon where we might have just a short window to prepare. Here we will have more than a month to prepare so saying that thesame set of players must be invited all the time just to build team unity/spirit going to the world cup does not make sense.

To Taiwo, yes I have and will continue to ask for his inclusion. Is Echejile better than Taiwo? I mean Taiwo plays week in week out in Finland, Finland is better than Cyprus where ironically our RB comes from. Now you may come at him for his age but he is thesame age as Mikel, and slightly older than Ighalo, same age as Balogun as well and if you watch his games for Kemi, you will see that he still has the energy of a bonafide 32year old, I mean he is the highest scoring defender in the Finnish league, if that is not a true test of his ability I wonder what is. You may also say it will affect the team unity/spirit but I can tell you that it is false. If you go for a coaching course, one of the first thing you learn is that there are 3spots in a team that can be changed at will, the two fullbacks and the number 9. In 2002, we were told that the two wingers too can be changed at will without affecting team unity. So when I start shouting a players name I must have checked these things. You don't see me shouting Ajagun, Joel Obi even and/or Aluko, but I clamour for Martins, Uche(no 9s), Osaze and Taye, before I say anything I check it well.

Now your next point may be that Aina can do a job at LB but brother, let's be sincere, Shehu should not be a starting fullback. Shehu is solid defensively, going forward he isn't and his solid defensive display is because he is yet to meet a very good winger, I am not saying he will be burnt but it could happen. Aina, for me, does a better job at RB all the days of the week. Do we then force Shehu into the LB role? Shehu is a squad player, it ends there, this is not an insult on him. So what happens to Uwa? How many LBs do we have?

korlahwarleh:
Good evening. I'm quite new here and I've been following for some time.
Please I want to ask, is experience not needed for qualifiers?
Because with the vast "experience" people someone like Martins had/has, I did not see people clamouring for his recall during the qualifiers, or did he just gather these "experience" after we qualified?
Also, I remember that when we won AFCON, we did not make use of Martins' experience. So why make it look as if the team is weak and vulnerable because they're not employing Martins' "experience"?
Another question is this: Are all the coaches in premiership, la liga, French League, Bundesliga e. t. c blind? Why haven't they noticed Martins' "experience" or they do not want "experienced players in their squad?
Please tell me, will Martins listen to Mikel both on and off the pitch? Will Martins see Mikel and Onazi as his senior in the team?
Lastly, all these talks of "we don't have a team yet", "are these the guys we're taking to Russia?" e. t. c
Please this is national team football not club football where you shop for the best. The current team is at least close to the best or even the best the country can produce. it's not as if we have four players in Real Madrid, 3 in Barcelona's first eleven, and 2 in Man U and Bayern respectively that we're not inviting. I don't think we can do more than this. Maybe we should wait till when we can begin to buy and sell players also in national team football. I bet it with you that even when that time comes, the Ronaldos, Messis and the good players of this world will. e playing for countries like Qatar, UAE, and China. (You should know why). So, the best we can do is to support the current team. Please let's allow Martin's to enjoy his pension in peace. I just want to belief that neither Martins nor his Family members/Agent is behind any of these pro-Martins monikers

Thanks
Point of correction, if Martins comes back, why should he look at Onazi as his senior?! Haba Martins made his debut almost 13years ago, Onazi just started recently. You can say he will have to accept that Onazi is the vice captain but it ends there, Onazi should look upon Martins as the elder not the other way round, same goes for Mikel.

Your mind is made up. I see. Hahahaha hahahaha. You are free to rub it in but it won't enter. Even if Martins score 100 goals, he's done and dusted as far as the Eagles is concerned. Sentiments? Yes ooo, at least for this one.
We just need to agree that if I am right at the end of the day, all those that called me a SE's enemy will eat their words. Sha until then me I no go talk again.

Regardless of the results, there is no present justification for inviting Martins.

He has one assist and zero goals since July.

There has to be strong justification for invitation.
And the justification for Iheanacho's invitation is what exactly? Kayode too has zero goals since....since last May if I am correct but what justifies his inclusion? His performance right, then have you watched Martins play recently? Yes or No
