nelszx: CAF Best XI in the WCQ series Our very own VicMo and Leon Balogun made the cut......Impressive I must say https://www.kingfut.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/5-610x415.jpg
The list included Al Ahly’s left back Aly Maaloul after he shined with the Tunisian national team. The lineup has also seen the presence of Uganda goalkeeper Denis Onyango, Senegal’s Sadio Mane and Nigeria’s Victor Moses.
World Cup Qualifiers XI:
Denis Onyango (Uganda); Serge Aurier (Ivory Coast), Ahmed Hegazi (Egypt), Leon Balogun (Nigeria), Aly Maaloul (Tunisia); Victor Moses (Nigeria), Sadio Mane (Senegal), Youssef Msakni (Tunisia), Mbark Boussoufa (Morocco), Khalid Boutain (Morocco); Mohamed Salah (Egypt). Mikel merits a place here more than anyone else |

Mujtahida: Well, if you say so I can't argue against that. But the Coach's knowledge about his players, his team, their strengths, their weaknesses, might be increasing at a pace that would outstrip your knowledge unless you keep up your own pace too. I say this for one reason: it's his job and if he's not lazy the trajectory of his knowledge should show an upward climb. He is not at the level of knowledge he was last year though. He's learned some and hopefully he should continue learning. Rohr isn't exactly the coach of the german national team and when u recall that we have had coaches such as Berti Vogts in our dugout you will agree that we do not always hire the best. You are saying Rohr's ideas have been evolving but I can only see him playing the 4-2-3-1 formation all of his career and when it gets found out he suffers. Sha I no wan go here till after the game against Algeria and Argentina |

komekn:
Of course you have watched some players more than the coach. He has limited time and only gets to see them in limited time as well. Rohr will rely on first hand experience and reports given by his coaching team.
Team invitations will be done particularly with regard to new player selection and recommendation will be done by NFF officials as well as in partnership with Rohr.
This is Nigeria there will be all kinds of jostling and influence peddling to push forward players that service the interests of different officials and thier associated agents. That will never change. this is simply the truth. The coach watches a handful, mainly his first eleven, and relies on his scouts and technical team to make up the rest and that is where other people who may not have watched any player, start to influence the selection. We had a situation where Simon Moses isn't even among the best nigerian wingers in the belgian league(based on various sport rating sites) and somehow he gets the nod over them, are they telling me that Rohr saw something that a thousand and one other top analysts and vastly superior coaches did not see? Corruption and favouritism exists, we cannot argue that |

Mujtahida: Baba Icon4s I enjoy it when tactics is discussed. Infact prior to my time on this thread I knew nothing about football tactically speaking but because of this thread I've learnt a thing or two on tactics: I've learnt about pressing(thanks to the goodjoe) double pivot, I understand the various positions better. I appreciate the tactical insights of you and Mickael2. However I understand what Icon79 is saying. He is saying we should not be presumptuous while discussing tactics, we should not talk like we know better than the coach regarding the players because I doubt if we do(surely we know but I don't think we know MORE than the coach). let me put it this way, you may come for an exam and because you are sick or some other forms of distraction your performance takes a huge dip, the external invigilator then starts screaming that you are a poor student but the teacher who stays with you in class everyday maintains that you are good. Rohr only trains with these guys a couple of weeks at most, no offence to him but he does not know these players better than their club coaches and some of us who may decide to follow a player properly. There are sometimes I just watch a match to monitor a particular player, I have done something like that for Etebo and found out the type of player he is when playing as the AMF, Rohr did not see that and played him a bad system for him, this is not a rundown on Rohr, he has a lot of players to monitor so he'd be occupied. I have done a similar thing for players like Simon(figured out he has only one skill-set, he is not even an average player but well below average), Tammy(and I am like why do we even need this guy? He is not the savior we need which I pointed out since) and Nwakali and Yahaya, YES. During their U17 people were losing their heads over Iheanacho but watch that midfield closely and you'd see that without Yahaya and Nwakali we would not have gotten anywhere, I pointed out to a friend back then that these two boys are better tactically than Iheanacho and I still insist on that and assuming Nwakali gets a chance we will all see that for ourselves as well. So the point here is simple, some of us have watched some players better than the coach |

I have no problem with you quoting me or arguing with me, where I have a problem is you jumping into something you don't understand, or you making erroneous inferences without following the argument properly. For the record I didn't say Iheanacho was bad, just that his performance today does not merit a starting shirt ahead of Okazaki, did I lie? |

Humility017: Okazaki is one of the most skillful and hardworking player in that team... since the start of the season....he has been in top form... so no one expect nacho to displace him just like that.... I believe nacho progression in the club is on a steady part...he played over 30 mins today ..with a good assist to vardy. ..I believe the English man was in a good position to convert only poor decisons cost him that goal....
so presently nacho is doing fine...
I have seen some of your comments aim at digging deep at the young man.... even mocking him a bench warmer...
good for you though...just your opinion and it holds no water...anyway I can make a joke out of anything, like when theGoodJoe suddenly forgot that he used to say that a coach isn't always the 'all-knowing', does that mean anything? The joke about him being on the bench was because Mujtahida assumed he started the game.....why am I going this long, Oga if you do not understand the difference between a joke and a serious comment then just face your lane and leave those who understand a joke to laugh about it. Then about Okazaki, read through the comments, there were PEOPLE saying he should start ahead of Okazaki, I don't know why you are now assuming a defensive position, I don't even know how you entered this argument now |

Icon79: I wouldn't mind a loan move either. But for him to become a bench warmer at a football like Leicester is unacceptable. He's too good a player for that. I am not a big believer in learning by sitting on the bench especially when you're more than good enough to start.
And by the way, I think he can start for a club side like Valencia or even Seville. Kelechi Iheanacho is a top player, folks! Let's not forget that. It's one thing to be benched by world class talents like Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus, but sitting on the bench for the likes of Okazaki is unacceptable.
O pari so.....who will he bench in Sevilla? Guedes? Zaza? Rodrigo? |

TheGoodJoe: Shehu is cautious and I like the way he plays in respect of leaving us under less pressure. He also does not make reckless crosses due to our cautious set-up too.
I am okay with him and I see him dealing well with greater pressure due to his style. Another might come in and give more crosses but leave the defenders under more pressure. A fullback is supposed to be a passing outlet in defense and in attack. In every top team, bar the midfielders, the fullbacks have the next highest amount of touches and quite sadly Shehu doesn't always provide that. You are right, he applies caution but that used to work in 1990 not anymore, if you sit back too much it will invite pressure from the opposing winger, if you push up the winger will have to move backwards to cover you thus relieving even more pressure from the defense |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Mickael2(m): 1:44pm On Nov 04, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe: As for Shehu Abdullahi, being the MOTM in the last game is such a mean feat for a Right back. I do not see Rohr tampering with it. Does he support the attack well, I am okay with his overall contribution than just focusing on an aspect of his game. He does a nice job supporting the defence and okay when he goes forward.
As for Chidebere Nwakali, this is his chance to go against some of the big boys in the game. Some of his mates like Nacho and Iwobi have done it on the big stage. It is time for him to give his best. The final call rest on the shoulders of the crew. If they like him fine. If not, the young man needs to keep working hard to achieve greatness. Shehu is very very poor going forward IMO. I had this conversation with Mujtahida when I pointed out that he has only ONE succesful cross in 3games, that is totally abysmal from a fullback, Aina had barely 30mins and managed one succesful cross. Defensively he has not been tested either. In Africa most of our teams have poor fullbacks so he usually has the liberty of facing only the winger with the aid of Simon Moses, in fact in most cases Simon Moses tracks the winger while he mops up. When we face a good team with a good winger and a fullback, Simon Moses will have his hands full with the opposing fullbacks and we will then see what Shehu can truly offer defensively |

Rohr knows more about Youth football in Europe that you. He has worked in the system for decades, worked with respected names in the game, trained coaches and worked with quality scouts. Give it a rest. You can not teach him about European scouting of quality talent.
He already proved you wrong with his assessment of Shehu and Awaziem which is far from your understanding of the game.
Gerrit? just because Rohr is the coach doesn't make him all knowing. You'd be suprised that Komekn knows the youth system more than Rohr does. goldfish80: Don't we like living in denial in this country? For all the tea in China,Tammy was never going to play for us. After the English triumph at the WYC, Tammy was speaking talking up being part of the generation next for England.
Reaching out to him was the right thing to do but on the long run, investing in the talent at hope should be the priority of any FA. I have never heard about any homegrown talent who rejected Nigeria.
We are currently ranked just inside the FIFA top 40. The Nff should kick off a conciese programme which would see us crack the FIFA top 10 and remain there for a long time. If we can achieve this feat, the Super Eagles will be the beautiful bride and a very vaiable option for some food the best talents who weren't born in Nigeria.
We will continue to get the Tammy, Aogo, Owomeoyla, etc treatment till we get it right.

Kog45: Haba Micho u and Rohr on tactics, well apart from being sentimental sometimes on players selection,Siasia is good tactically(2005 semi final against Holland)tells me the guy is good, also 2008 Olympics.
Truly Argentina match w be a true test for Rohr tactically even Algeria match but nevertheless is still getting it right but South Africa match still put a question match on his tactical prowess cos with the absence of few key players the team crumbled. those are the keywords. Rohr is the type of manager that comes to training and the players will say 'we already know what we are doing today, we are here to train with a 4-2-3-1 formation, these are members of the first team and these are members of the second team', and he will just nod. That is bad because one injury or if a team manages to find the cure to that present formation we crumble. Siasia-2008 Olympics without Taiwo and Mikel=2nd place, 2016 Olympics without a host of players still=3rd place. Rohr is not tactically.... No make me start this argument sha. |

Super Eagles players in the team
1.Uche Okechuckwu.

3.Emmanuel Amuneke.
4.Victor Ikpeba
5.Sunday Olishe,
6.Austin Okocha
7.Tijani Babangida.

10.Wilson Oruma
11.Celestine Babayaro
12.Mobi Oparaku
13.Garba Lawal
15.Karibe Ojigwe
Well established local players in the team
16.Dosu Joseph
17.Abiodun Obafemi
18.Teslim Fatusi
19.Emmanuel Babayaro
20.Abiodun Baruwa
21.Kingsley Obiekwu

Ok please show us the first eleven. Haba these guys are just bench warmers, the main guys are the ones that came from top teams, they played. Mainz was in the Europa league in 2013/2014, Navas was one of the best GK's in the league that year. Olympiakos made it out of their group that year. tbaba1234: Oga, these are not top clubs.. How many made it to the group stages? How many qualified from the group phase? Even Levante and Mainz are not big clubs, they are just average clubs in top leagues
Goalkeepers: Keylor Navas (Levante), Patrick Pemberton (Alajuelense) Daniel Cambronero (Herediano).
Defenders: Johnny Acosta (Alajuelense), Giancarlo Gonzalez (Columbus Crew), Michael Umana (Saprissa), Oscar Duarte (Bruges), Waylon Francis (Columbus Crew), Heiner Mora (Saprissa), Junior Diaz (Mainz 05), Christian Gamboa (Rosenborg), Roy Miller (New York Red Bulls).
Midfielders: Celso Borges (AIK), Christian Bolanos (Copenhagen), Esteban Granados (Herediano), Michael Barrantes (Aalesund), Yeltsin Tejeda (Saprissa), Diego Calvo (Valerenga), Jose Miguel Cubero (Herediano).
Forwards: Bryan Ruiz (PSV Eindhoven, on loan from Fulham), Joel Campbell (Olympiakos, on loan from Arsenal), Randall Brenes (Cartagines), Marco Urena (FC Kuban Krasnodar).
This is the team. Have you ever heard of Cartagines or Herediano? Imagine Nigeria inviting a player from Valarenga or AIK?
The above team is not one that should be in the quarter finals but they did it. |

Bravo was in Real Sociedad, top club in Spain. Cardif were a strong side too and just got demoted, I mean since you want to tackle Komekn I am pretty sure you know he has said that the Championship is on par with the belgian league which still is quality for me. So you factually have 6 quality guys from quality clubs in quality leagues, if I search I could find more Mujtahida: By regular I mean that they footballer who are not in the top leagues. I no just talk am without a factual basis. The excerpt below is from an article which I read some weeks back and informed my earlier assertion. Now read this:
Apart from their opening game against Australia, they stuck with their three-at-the-back roots that had served Bielsa so well, lining up in a 3-4-1-2 formation, that contained the dangerous front two of Barcelona’s Alexis Sanchez, and Napoli’s Eduardo Vargas – with Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal playing behind them.
Beyond this impressive front three, and left wing-back Mauricio Isla (who plays for Juventus), much of Chile’s team play their club football in quite moderate environments. Influential centre-back Gary Medel was relegated to the English Championship with Cardiff prior to the World Cup. His team-mate Gonzalo Jara played in the Championship before the tournament too. Deep-lying midfielder Marcelo Diaz plays in Switzerland with FC Basel Silva with Osasuna in Spain, and goalkeeper Claudio Bravo – at the age of 31 – was signed by Barcelona mid-tournament with question marks over whether he would play regular football at the Catalan giants. THE REST OF THE TEAM PLAY THEIR FOOTBALL IN SOUTH AMERICA Source:http://www.thefalse9.com/2014/11/football-tactics-national-identity.html |

We cannot reason the same way and we need to accept that facts, this is a football thread were a lot of arguments w come in with different opinions,so why attacking to drive our points.
I want us to know that Rohr is not god coz some don't want any criticism against Rohr and for us to move forward we need to evaluate his team, invitations, selection, tactics etc
Forgiveness comment on Nwakili invitation is normal in football circles but calling Rohr fraud is out of it.
Nwakili invitation came from nowhere and a lot were surprised even on this thread but funny enough some are saying he justified the invitation which I personally disagreed.
If we want to based it on DM i can tell u something is fishing coz Anderson Esiti is there and have a better performance than Nwakili but as u said Rohr love versatility players, may be that give Nwakili advantage.
My grouse with Forgiveness is calling Rohr corrupt due to Nwakili invitation, honestly Rohr must have his reason to do so and we must respect his decision but we have every right to criticise him. Check my last comment |
