Humility017: kayode in China will score more calls...than martins has scored...
compare the calibre of players in the Chinese league wit those in the la liga.... kayode is miles ahead...of Martins. even Paul has scored more goals...but still can't match kayode in skills and potentials.... simple question, how many goals has Kayode scored? |

EEGA: In a 3-man CB, the RCB and LCB should be players who are fast not slow.
Balogun should have played in the middle of them.
Do u mean we shouldn't work on our left-side?
And we still want our team to reach the Quarter-final of the WC. I disagree. The main CB in a 3-man backline is the one that needs the pace the most, when you adopt an attack-minded 3-4-3 formation that means a high-line and guess who is more concerned with that high-line? The middle CB. If you play a conservative 3-man backline the middle CB is still the one that will be playing the ball out of the back or carrying the ball forward which means he needs his pace. Who is the middle CB for Chelsea? Compare the person's speed with Azpi and you will understand. When Barcelona plays a 3man backline who plays the RCB? Masch and he is not fast, as in not at all. Our backline was okay, I'd only replace Awaziem with Omeruo and that would be all. Ps: I dont think Idowu is the best we have though |

he won't be missed....there is nothing exceptional about his play style that gonna rob on the eagles.....
my 3 strikers for the world cup.... Ighalo Nacho Kayode or Paul....
though I will prefer kayode because of his pace...and more how many goals has Kayode scored this season? Compare that to Martins |

tbaba1234: Aguero did not collapse... He was taken off as a precaution. There was no psychological anything.
This is what changed for Nigeria in the second half. We made a tactical switch. In the first half, we were closing them down but not doing it efficiently and hereby creating spaces. In the second half, we changed the system, we remained compact, staying back and hitting on the counter. Argentina found it harder to break us down.
That simple tactical change is the difference.. I totally disagree. The Argentines did not find it hard breaking us down still, they had more shots than we did in the first and second half separately so they still had some joy in the second half but when you don't have an Aguero, Higuain, Messi or Dybala close to your opponents box, your scoring possibilities reduces to a minimum. Dybala on his part was trying to do what Messi does, creating from the middle, he failed to understand that he isn't Messi and he should just stick upfront and wait for DiMaria to bring the ball after Aguero left, but I am not here to point out how the Argentines could have done better. Meanwhile there was no tactical switch or should I say that it had less effect on the game compared to the change in personnel. You can see that the formation was not a bad one, just square pegs in round holes and immediately the right guys were brought in the game changed |

TheGoodJoe: From reports, it was not a horror show. Aguero was dizzy and for precaution, took him off. he had a fainting spell, like he passed out two or three times continously and he was left in the dressing room. On the pitch your mind will still go to that player who was left in the dressing room not knowing if the stuff got real |

Martins I love.. Uche I prefer ...Taiwo I think about but do we have future with them?
Can you compare Martins of inter to Martins of Chinese league forgotten his club name.. Even in Newcastle he was so hot.. I watched him play every weekend.. Lol... Do they have future with eagles? Every player we invite must not be for the future, we have players for the here and now and we should utilise everyone in their peak instead of assuming that they are good now but they'd go bad by next two years so let's not call them. Unlike forgiveness I won't hold bet my house on these guys making the team better or even getting invited, just that we have vacancies and it wouldn't kill anyone if they are tried again |

Mujtahida: Pray tell what are your facts and figures for saying Ebuehi will not perform well as a LWB? what he did against Argentina we see him do everytime in training both on the right and left side of defence... Great player- Toyin Ibitoye
I will not take anything to the bank until it happens.
What happened to Aguero wasn't strange. He has the history and he was taken to the hospital as a precaution. Nothing to detract from the performance of the Argentines. They themselves have not given that excuse. Don't give it for them.
That Aina is the best, I won't argue. Na the one wey person see him dey talk. So it remains to be seen. But peeps try to make it look like it's Aina against Ebuehi and Shehu or Ebuehi against Shehu and Aina. I don't see it that way. I am anxious for Shehu to be the best, for Ebuehi to be the best and for Aina to be the best.
On Idowu I have my doubts but I hope you saw that he was already in the box when Iwobi scored the equalising goal and he was there to pick on the ball from Nacho to score. The truth is our team play is tilted more to the right. Read solace chukwu on medium @oddsolace "You may have noticed that much of our play comes down the right side of the attack. I make it 8 of our 12 goals were a result of build-up/a passage of play from that flank. That is a staggering percentage. Two have come down the middle, two from the left (one of those a corner)." There isnt much play on the left side of our play. Against argentina not much interplay happened on left as compared to right. But there was a time an argentine was fouled and mikel was turning and turning . I noticed that idowu had already opened up a bit close to the centre line but nothing came of it cos foul had been given. Thats why a LMF like Joel obi is needed to balance our play.
On the whole while i have my reservations i am still giving all players the benefit of doubt. I sure they are more eager to perform more than most of us even expect. I do not buy the left side bias one bit. We score mainly from counters, let me ask you, if you are trying to generate a high-speed counter and you have Iwobi/Simon on the left side will you even consider them, knowing well enough that Iwobi has the pace but he isn't fast while Simon Moses is an average player who will slow the game down and spoil the counter, that is how it works. The day we get a Marcelo or Coman our attacks will start from the left, I do not think it is a weakness and I dont think teams can counter it either, just like saying a team will counter a counter attack, that is why it is called a counter attack, we are countering your attack because all your players are out of position. About Ebuehi, how many games has he played at LB for his club? |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Mickael2(m): 6:46pm On Nov 21, 2017 |
Mujtahida: Latest reports say Joel Obi is in the frame for March friendlies as a result of his good performances.
Don't be so sure to say Ebuehi would perform worse than Aina as a LWB. He might do well, he might not to well as a LWB. Don't make omnipotent conclusions. And talking about Aina and Shehu they didn't do badly as most seem to make it look. Just that they didn't offer much going forward and Aina left gaps to be exploited when he moved further afield. Very understandable. If Aina does well(and I hope he does) as a RB, RWB it's all good. The coach would have a good headache to deal with. I am also not yet convinced with Idowu The LB is not blank. Echiejile is there.
On Taiye Taiwo I am tempted to also make omnipotent conclusions like you but let me be measured and say his chances of being invited are so so slim as to be near impossible. I base my assumptions on facts and figures. Same assumptions helped me point out perfectly that Aina would struggle as a LB or LWB and it happened, you cannot tell me that the best RB in the Championship suddenly went bad. Same assumptions showed that Shehu would not perform as a wingback and that he isn't the best fullback we have, it showed. If Aina was played in that RWB role he would have performed better than Ebuehi did, take that to the bank. By the time Ebuehi came in the Argentines were already pyschologically down after they witnessed a horror show involving Aguero, Ebuehi thrived no doubt about it but Aina would have been better. Idowu scored and disappeared, forget the entire hype like I have always pointed out Aina is the best among the lot we have at RB and at LB we still have a vacancy. Hopefully Joel will be invited if he stays fit, I wont hold my breath for that though |

Mujtahida: Hahahaha hahahaha. Haba Doc. Don't go low na. I've always called for Joel Obi. Not once have I opposed calls for his inclusion but rather I have actively joined my voice for his invitation and I'm happy he's been invited.
The people I am against are Martins, Ik Uche, Taiye Taiwo. But note that I am not the Coach. This is just my personal preference and I know Rohr doesn't know me not to talk of giving credence to my preference to the extent that it influences his team selection. What I mean is that even if Rohr goes against my preference and invites Martins then good. Right now my concern is for the performance of the team. Has Joel Obi been invited? Meanwhile I have always believed in evolution, species transform to other species kinda stuff. If we didn't try out Ebuehi, we would never know how good he is, I am still not sold on Idowu and I still believe Aina would do a better job at RB or RWB than Ebuehi and Shehu so the LB is still blank. Put Ebuehi in that LWB position and he would have performed worse than Aina. I remember when Tbaba was saying that Aina can play with both feet, I pointed out that it does not work that way, finally everyone saw it on that day. So......the bottomline of my epistle is that the leftside is still vacant......aaaannnndddd in comes Taiwo |

Mickael2 you wanted to correct her. Good but there was no need for the dig as per 'what have you achieved in life'.

So for you the fact there is that they have 'pea-sized minds', I am pretty sure you cannot conduct a brain surgery so tell me how you figured out the size(s) of their mind(s). Like Mujtahida implored though, I am sorry for questioning your life's achievements, I have never met you personally nor you me, so I was wrong to go that far, accept my sincere apologies safarigirl: it is an opinion everyone is entitled to.
Your idea of achievements is objective my brother, how can I achieve what they have when we are not even in similar fields? Have they achieved what I have? Or you think I am not doing anything with my life because I don't come here to reel out names of footballers I have met? Or because I don't roll with NFF big shots? Is that your idea of achievement? Has Obasanjo achieved what Fela achieved? That is how ridiculous your comparison is
If you think it is insults, that is objective as well. It is facts to me.
After all, you never ask anyone of them what they have achieved whenever they attack our players.... Oh wait, you are one of those who calls players headless chickens
You're one to talk. |

Kog45: My man you said Messi but here we are talking of Joel Obi.
I remember the same Joel Obi failed to make the cut when invited by Keshi prior to WC.
I respect him as a player and even agitating for his recall.I watched him yesterday with what i saw he cannot walk straight into eagles first eleven.
That's my opinion and i stand by it. he just came back from an injury, played a game before the international break and scored a goal. Then he played very well in the first half and by the second half you could see him playing with some form of discomfort which is expected of someone who just came back from an injury. But the fact that he just came back from an injury and walked straight into the Torino first XI has answered all your questions, I mean this is Torino, not Trabzonspor or Bursaspor or Figuerense or even Leicester(yes they are relegation contenders now). I repeat that Joel Obi has never disppointed in a GWG jersey before |

Kog45: Pls give little respect to Onazi, Ogu and Etebo, truly Joel Obi is a good footballer who injuries has not help his career.
I remember Keshi gave him a call prior to WC if am correct but failed to impress.Good he is picking up but i can assured you Joel Obi w not walk straight into Eagles starting eleven.
I don't understand what you mean by in form Mikel only better Joel Obi.Let me tell you basic fact it w take a very hard working Joel Obi to bench average Mikel talk less of in form Mikel.
Pls go and watch Mikel recent games for Eagles and you w know the shoe is big for Joel Obi,no offence.
Eagles have evolved in a special way for just any player to have the confidence that he w walk in straight.Joel Obi have Onazi, Ogu first to contend with and it w not be easy.
Truly Joel Obi is good but the hype is too much, let see him again then w decide but telling us Onazi,Ogu,Etebo and others are not match is like downgrading the eagles.
We just need to give ve respect to present eagles especially the players for making us proud of the team again cos your analysis on Joel Obi look like the team is average for players like Onazi, Ogu,Etebo to make the team. If I say Messi will walk into our first XI it is not a disrespectful statement to anyone, it is just what it is. If Joel Obi is invited Ndidi, Etebo, Onazi, Ogu and anyother backwater midfielder we invite will have to either contest for the DMF role(i favour Ndidi here) or sit on the bench for Joel, it's so simple. Meanwhile Joel Obi has always performed in the GWG, it isn't hype at all, just the fact. |

Daejoyoung: Now let's be frank, the Argentines used what we may properly call a team B then, and you cannot say it was preparation for the world cup. Now apart from Messi and then Aguero(in the second half) this was a more solid Argentine team. Wouldn't you agree with me? GABBARINI, Adrian - Independiente, Argentina ZABALETA, Pablo - Manchester City, England ANGELERI, Marcos - Sunderland FC, England GARAY, Ezequiel - Real Madrid, Spain OTAMENDI, Nicolas - Porto FC, Portugal FAZIO, Federico - Sevilla, Spain BELLUSCHI, Fernando - Porto FC, Portugal CABRAL, Alejandro - Legia Varsovia. Poland FORMICA, Mauro - Blackburn Rovers, England INSUA, Emiliano - Galatasaray, Turkey CRISTALDO, Jonathan - Metalist Kharkiv, Ukraine GAITAN, Nicolas - Benfica, Portugal PIATTI, Pablo - Almeria, Spain RUBEN, Marco - Villarreal, Spain JARA, Franco - Benfica, Portugal PEROTTI, Diego - Sevilla, Spain BOSELLI, Mauro - Genoa, Italy BERTOLO, Nicolas - Real Zaragoza, Spain COSTA, Tino - Valencia, Spain MUSACCHIO, Mateo - Villarreal, Spain this is the squad that prosecuted that game that day. Now lets be frank, they were missing 3-4 key players but that was it reallly and we paraded players like Ogude and Utaka. Now I am not saying this recent win isn't something wonderful but that 2011 win was too and Argentina played with a strong squad. PS: your definition of 'stronger argentine squad' is relative. Consider the performance of some of these players to those ones then and we have something to argue. CcTbaba |
