maidaboi: injury free osimhen would have started more games osimhen started from u17 to u20 to u23 to super eagle through different coaches and remember the coach and director that bought him have all been sack yet the new coach still gave him some game time when he returned from injury he is quality, i rest my case #respect Portugal dropped Sanches for the confed squad, not because he isn't a class act but because other players are performing better than him, that is what I call professionalism at it's peak. We have game changers who could have been invited in place of Oshimen, Ajagun for example is the kind of player you can bring on when you are looking for an equaliser and play him as the DMF in a 3 man backline because he can also cover as the RB and LB allowing the actual fullbacks to bomb forward. Aluko is the kind of player you can bring on when a team adopts a man-to-man marking approach, he can easily beat his man unlike....Iwobi for example who would rather just pass the ball. I can name other game changers who I do not like personally but if we should be perfectly professional in our approach they deserve the spot more than Oshimen |

I mean Bologna and Wolfsburg aren't too different from eachother, they both barely survived relegation but the case now is that when Bologna started fighting against relegation they called on Orji Okonkwo while Oshimen was still choping bench at Wolfsburg, if I talk now some cry babies will start talking about Iheanacho |

goldfish80: Exactly. You recall perfectly. I frankly didn't rate Balogun in his early days playing for the super eagles. I recall the game in Kaduna against Egypt, he played at Rb, looked uncomfortable all afternoon.
In the friendly against SA, Akpeyi had a blinder. So good on the night he caught a penalty. I recall the the press heralded him as the heir apparent to Enyeama after the fine evening outting. How suddenly, people are panicking when his name is mentioned shows how fickle minded football fans are. players lose form |

tbaba1234: For Porto first team and for Porto B. I did not watch the friendlies.
Comfortable on the ball. Picks out passes. He was a midfielder so he is very confident on the ball. He does balloon the ball as often as Omeruo. ok do you know that when Omeruo's club had an injury crisis it was Omeruo that was called upon to play the DMF position, the reason then was that he is the best ball playing CB in the team and one of the best in the league. Check, it's mainly ball playing CBs that are error prone like Pique and Stones just like Omeruo. Omeruo for me is the better and more willing ball playing CB |

Oga! Shehu Abdullahi, Ikechuckwu Ezenwa, Victor Osimhen, Ibrahim Alhassan, Noah(an injured player) etc should not have been called ahead of some players in Europe, both for the friendly and AFCON.

Why bring the ones you can easily dispose and no one go raise eyebrow.

TheGoodJoe: The question is, is Omeruo a better choice for the set-up Rohr wants to use in th next game. Definitely Omeruo is a ball playing defender but I doubt he is a better baller than Awaziem. The reports from Camp will give a better picture. For now, I believe Rohr intends to build a possession-heavy side that requires ball playing defenders and Awaziem has my pick. Especially after spending time with Lopetegui at Porto, a coach I admired his possession-heavy style when he coached Isco, Thiago Alcantara, Morata and Sarabia in the Junior levels of Spain. Kai theGoodJoe are you the one saying this? Omeruo has played as a RB before, as a DMF before, have you ever seen a RB who can't play the ball well? I know some DMF's are limited passers but RBs and LBs are always serious ballers, Omeruo I can even argue is a better ball player than....Balogun(Ekong dey play ball wella, or atleast he did so at the Olympics). In fact I remember you were the one saying that Omeruo was solid against Zambia despite his mistake(which I agree well enough), do you think that Awaziem can keep(....what is the name of that big and mean Zambian guy?) quiet? |

[/quote] Mickael2: I hate to be the one to say this but this match will not be considered when the next fifa rankings are released. as a matter of fact, as long as FIFA is concerned this match never happened.
The International Football Association Board has set a limit of six substitutes as a maximum in international friendlies. The limit was forced through today despite strong opposition from the English FA and England head coach Sven-Goran Eriksson. FIFA had originally wanted to impose a maximum of five substitutes but agreed to compromise at the meeting in London. The rule change is among several changes by the game's rule-making body, including scrapping the golden goal and silver goal rules after Euro 2004. The decision means that knock-out games will revert to being decided on penalties if the scores are level after two periods of extra-time. Eriksson and the FA faced an uphill struggle in their attempt to persuade FIFA to drop the change to the substitute rule after the Irish FA indicated they would back the proposal from FIFA president Sepp Blatter. Irish FA chairman Jim Boyce had said on Thursday: "I personally believe that there should not be more than five substitutes, otherwise it is a total farce with people running on and off the pitch all the time. Madam, please read this(my first comment about the game) and tell me where you saw Iheanacho's name, please do safarigirl: I like how you refrained from quoting my first reply to your moot point.
Our ranking is not your problem, stop shouting upandan as if the rest of us are unaware of the obvious fact.
It is clear that the only reason you are exhibiting this level of bad belle is because the Kelechi you called a bench warmer, incapable of starting a game, put you to shame. And that is how he will continue putting you to shame until you run out of excuses to give.
Do you know you could have passed the message that this game would not be counted by FIFA WITHOUT adding that Kelechi and Musa's goals would not be counted as well? Rather than do that, you made your bias obvious by glaringly pointing out that fact, so you ended up sounding like a pained person, looking for a balm to sooth his pain.
So, congratulations sir, you played yourself Mickael2: I hate to be the one to say this but this match will not be considered when the next fifa rankings are released. as a matter of fact, as long as FIFA is concerned this match never happened.

TheSuperNerd: Actually Safari dear... lemme even correct another erroneous comment of his....
He said Iheanacho's and Musa's goals won't count with Fifa... well he is wrong.
They do count because when Fifa makes reference to there players' careers in the end... they will count these "cateogory: other friendly" matches too.....
Pele's goals records included several unofficial/other friendly/Non-fifa sanctioned games... yet Fifa preserved the records. Same for Romario and some other goalscoring greats.
The goals scored today and the game played today are part of association football records now and will be cited by Fifa at any time except with respect to the FIFA rankings...
His attempts to spoil what a good game this was is already dead on arrival... had Kayode started and scored a hattrick today.... Mickael2 won't bring up this nonsense spoil sport tactic of his.
Mickael2... wehdone Sir before I start, read this slowly and digest it Pelé is the top scorer of the Brazil national football team with 77 goals in 92 official appearances.[8][192] In addition, he has scored 18 times in 22 unofficial games. This makes an unofficial total of 114 games and 95 goals. He has also scored 12 goals and is credited with 10 assists in 14 World Cup appearances, including 4 goals and 7 assists in 1970.[193] oga, when it comes to goals, unofficial goals are not counted, let's say Martins scored 20 extra goals in unofficial matches, he still won't be our record scorer, do you now understand why the goals don't count? And what under planet earth are you even yammering about? How did I include Kayode? Oga, check the first comment I made, I said it won't affect our ranking shikena, it was someone that tagged me and I had to give him an extra reason why I think we shouldn't have used up to 9 subs in the game, if you are that much of a fanboy well I am not, Iheanacho is one player, and if he is scoring then I am fine with that, maybe for you when you are eating, sleeping, working, watching tv or even doing anything you are always thinking about Iheanacho(that's why I will be saying another thing and you will start Iheanacho vs Kayode debate) but for me I don't fancy minor debates like that sorry |

Mujtahida: You are looking at rankings. Rohr is busy improving his team. Who ranking epp? Rankings does not equate to victory. Victory is when your team wins 3:0 and it's not even the victory that is important. What is important is the fact that the team is improving.
So in order of priority this is how things rank: *Improving the team *Play matches frequently and play to win *Rankings Reasons why it matters... 1) the goals and their goalscorers do not matter, in other words Iheanacho and Musa never scored today so long as FIFA is concerned and their stats is always accepted. 2) better ranking means weaker opponents during the world cup. If we end up in Pot3 that could spell disaster. |

Since all you love to do is counter and spill controversial comments....
FYI, The international window is June 05 to June 13.... so how is this a FIFA window?? U just love to talk.... Lolll
http://www.fifa.com/calendar/ we used 9 subs because this is not a FIFA sanctioned friendly. Check out Italy Vs San Marino, they used 6 subs and it is going to improve their ranking. Remember when SA defeated Spain but the stuff didn't count because Spain made 7 subs? You can sub as much as you want in a game even more than 11 if you want but once you cross 6 subs, it's no longer a FIFA sanctioned friendly, tu comprehende? |

TheSuperNerd: Six subs rule is for Fifa window international A matches.....
But for "any other friendly" especially outside the FIFA window, a certain number of subs can be agreed upon by the two teams involved and with the referee for the game informed of such agreement before the match kickoff.
A team can agree to have subs ranging from three to twelve..... any FIFA sanctioned friendly has a maximum of 6 subs, be it an A friendly or nt(whatever that means). besides we are in the FIFA free window, that's why other teams are organising friendlies too |

TheSuperNerd: Questions arising as Nigeria prepares to tackle Togo....
- Who would be in goal? Latest reports say Alampasu has been the more impressive of the two.... Although Ezenwa got the experience... who will play in goal? Against South Africa, we already know who will man the post.... But for today... who will it be? Ezenwa or Alampasu...
- Will Rohr proceed with the Troost-Chidozie Central defence partnership? or will the experience of Omeruo speak loudest?
Whatever Rohr starts with today as the central defence pairing may be what we see against South Africa....
- Who will play Right Back?? Ebuehi started the last game... but he is still getting used to African opposition. Will Rohr stick to him? or will it be Abdullahi or a makeshift RB in Omeruo again?
- Will it be The MikelAgu-Ndidi-Etebo midfield trio? Or will it be something else? like Ndidi-Etebo-Alhassan
that's for Togo.... but I am thinking in the end our midfield three against South Africa will likely be Ndidi-Onazi-Etebo....? right? (very enticing indeed)
- Who flanks Iheanacho? With Etebo/Alhassan (could also be Iwobi) likely to play behind Nacho..... who will be the Right and left wing forward men?
We had Onyekuru on the left and Musa on the right against Corsica.... with Iwobi now in camp... will he start? Or will Rohr play him in the no.10 role like he did against Senegal?
- Iheanacho is super likely to start in order to get him in even better shape ahead of the South Africa game.... Yes that is true but would it do any harm to have Kayode, Austrian Bundesliga's MVP and Top scorer tested from the Start today with Nacho coming in later?
- Bonus : Who knows Rohr's birthday Month? simple! It wouldn't do us any harm at all. Kayode has been in top top form,I mean there was a report we read here, one NFF guy said Onyekuru? Is as fast as Kayode, to tell you that Kayode is their yardstick for pace so again I can repeat here and now that he is faster than Iheanacho. I watched the match highlights against Corsica and although people are so quick to condemn Onyekuru, Iheanacho missed two clear chances, one his pace let him down, the other he couldn't hit the target, let me repeat that last sentence, IHEANACHO WITH THE BEST SHOT TO GOAL RATIO IN THE EPL COULDN'T HIT THE TARGET, that's evidence of lack of confidence, his penalty too showed it, look at his face after scoring the penalty he felt so releived. But Kayode is the man on song right now, I remember when Costa was messing up, Spain invited Alcacer immediately and he started their games, football is all about form not quality |

If you asked this question with open-mindedness, then I will reply extensively. It is very obvious why you ask this question. Why can't you wait till 1900 hrs (7pm) Paris time (6pm in Nigeria) to find out what Rohr will do...? my point is... When Kane was injured, England could have just made Vardy their first choice, but because he was out of form(his quality has never been in doubt), they introduced Defoe. Quality is not really the final criteria. Iheanacho is definetly not lacking in that aspect but form...yeah he is lacking there, I can assume that you as a health related guy(I don't know where you did yours but back then in school I remember doing psychology a little) should know that Kayode will definetly be walking with a spring in his step right now and that sort of confidence can make you 10 times better. |
