OMANBALA1: Nna eeh,Iheanacho is gonna go monster when finally joins West Ham and regains his confidence in front of goal. Dude is gonna explode and that's why Man City want a buy back clause added. I can't stand Pep Guadiola. Nacho must punish him next season....Iheanacho must win world player of the year ! the hype in this comment is absurd. Even Mbappe and french fans would be weary of making such comments about their (well let's be honest) more talented lad. The way nigerians hype their own makes you wonder |

But I guessed oshimen is more hyped than Awo thats just it. Oga, that list was released almost a week ago, and as at then Awoniyi had ZERO goals. So he wasn't in better form as at then |

sontoly: Bros your argument is baseless, all players have been hyped one way or the other so that doesn't make a difference, comparing simon's error to onyekuru is uncalled for, I know u liked oshimen but he also has not been tasted in the super eagles just like onyekuru so they both have to compete, but based on form and performance currently onyekuru edges him out, a good coach will always pick form when selecting. Also know that awoniyi have a better form than oshimen this season and I see no reason why he is not selected ahead of oshimen. Awoniyi? Ok now that's funny. I agree that Onyekuru is presently better than Oshimen. I mean Oshimen is playing for a mid table team in Germany where Leipzig is about to place second but this lad was wanted by perennial scotish champions, CELTIC!!! however I disagree that Awoniyi has been in better form than Oshimen |

AIG07: the examples you listed above does not support your claim.
1. M. Gomez was not part of the all conquering german side that won the world cup. By the way he is no longer a starter/regular cos he has passed his prime.
2. W. Ndidi never walked into eagles starting line-up despite his outstanding performance in the belgian league before moving to the EPL(not saying the belgian league is backward). He featured mostly as a sub prior to our last game against senegal. The funniest part was that he started alongside Onazi.
Bottomline: no matter a players blazing performance in club football, he'll always be gradually introduce into the national set up. Or y do u think Rohr had to start a match rusty Kelechi ahead of Kayode?. So it is not matter of prefering one player to another on sentimental bases man as you stated.
Look the era whereby a new invitees(the onobi's, igboun of this world) just walk into the team and gets automatic shirts is gone.
Or probably you're been confused with what making a Starting Line-up and making match day squad means. |

I know what that first goal can do to a player's confidence. Now we may have another huge striker prospect to look forward to in the Eagles if he keeps this up and continues his fine growth and sudden explosion.
Awo is back! Just watched the goals, what if I say I am still not impressed? |

tbaba1234: Did you watch Iwobi's last game? Kid is an absolute baller.. I think, he was just exhausted and the break has done him well. I didn't really watch the match but that's for arsenal, I am talking about the eagles. we need to map out our formation properly, sometimes in between games Iwobi gets confused, he doesn't know if he is still playing as a midfielder or as a wing forward and that's when people start to assume that he has faded, he just doesn't understand the instructions. honestly I myself do.not even understand his position, he should be a LMF, in that case Henry cannot replace him but during our games he is always too close to the opponents box as a wing forward which is why we all assume that Henry can go there and he will enter the middle full time. I think the coach needs to sort that out, this opinion might not be popular here but I agree with that dude that said that Rohr isn't more tactical than our local coaches, just a better man manager |

AIG07: I am not saying Henry will be a disappointment like wise not dismissing his chances but we need to be cautious and lower our expectations on the lad...
Rohr already has a winning team. Which I don't think he'll be altering anytime soon unless a player justifies a need for him to in the starting eleven. You don't expect the coach to say Iwobi, Nacho you've been warming your clubs bench recently so therefore Henry the 23goals hero is around you need to fasten your seat belt and give way for the new guy... The national team is not run that way.
Henry will have to be tried and tested before been handed a starting birth. Don't forget Henry is still a rookie when it comes to International Football. me I don't understand some people here. judging by your assumption Gomez should still be a starter for Germany because he was there when they won the world cup. Rohr already has a winning team? what have we won? you guys don't seem to understand the meaning of a winning team, we have won just three matches and when we forced a tough opposition against Senegal we didn't win, we don't have a winning team yet,we are still trying to build one. If someone is not performing for his club then he will not perform for his country that's simple logic and it is usually correct, Genk that will probably not win the Belgian league thrashed Tottenham but hey you want to assume that Henry has been playing against amateurs in the Belgian league. Ndidi came into the national team and started performing instantly, I guess people like you will still want onazi to start ahead of Ndidi |

AIG07: Sir, don't be too quick to make your conclusion on his chances with the Eagles.
Henry is good. No doubt about that. Saying that with his present form he will easily displace some players in SE's starting line up is way too far and too early.
Let's wait and see him play first in the green white green.
Remember some players Club form/success does not often translate to national team. We 've seen amazing so many players with fine forms who can't cut it in their respective national teams. well he hasn't played for the Eagles yet so how come you've dismissed his chances? Judging purely on present form he is playing better than Nacho assuming we want to play him as our CF, and he is definetly doing better than Iwobi if we want to play him there. If he comes and he disappoints then we will see and judge, simple |

AllforJesus7: I have watched his highlights. Nothing special. Onyekuru is not a good crosser of the ball. He just loves to run at the wings and dribble into a cul-de-sac and he does not like to pass. Nothing to justify walking straight into our starting line up.
I see why Rohr prefers a highly technical scorer, passer and player (Osimen) over him.
Now remember he is still playing with back water defenders. The game is different with established leagues and defenders where he must be able to keep his head up and give cool passes/crosses to beat defenders and have a technical link up play. Otherwise he may end up as another Imoh Ezekiel or Musa.
I'll stick with the.....
Iwobi Iheanacho V. Moses Mikel Ndidi Onazi
starting line up. Nothing special about Onyekuru? Well that's a new one. I was watching his match with a friend, he rightly pointed out that the dude plays like David Villa. Ok, do you know that Villa was once a winger at Barca? Did you ever see him crossing the ball? Do you think that your local 'kick and chase' football is what they do at a professional level, where you just run to the byline and you cross? Oga, his instruction is not to cross the ball, how can you instruct your best player to stay on the wings and be putting in crosses alone when you know how clinical he is? Oga he is not a wide midfielder, he is a wing forward, it's just like expecting Ronaldo or Messi to be putting in crosses when they are in that position, utterly ridiculous. For me, I will go with a front line of... Onyekuru/Nacho/Kayode Iwobi/Onyekuru V. Moses that boy is too good to be far from our first eleven. Iwobi had better step up because he has been poor and doesn't even deserve to be second choice in that position |

Anywhere you play him, he will definitely get goals for you.

Icon4s: This is where the problem is.
You think paper certificates are the only channels to success in life.
Besides, even if one at the age of 40 wants to obtain O/Level Certificates u do not need to attend secondary school. There is an exam called GCE naaaa. There is even GCE WAEC and GCE NECO now. There is no age limit for education my brother.
The more atrocious act is to deny that boy that chance to become a professional footballer because he cannot pass his academic tests. it isn't the only the only channel, but it definitely is the most guaranteed channel. come on if you didn't go to school and went into football would you become a football writer like you did? No matter how dull a kid is he can scale through secondary school at least! foreign academies have school teachers too, you don't just learn how to play football, you also learn how to live, write and behave. you are talking about being dull, ok a lad who can't even speak English, maybe he gets transferred to a Spanish team, mind you he can't even understand English well, don't you know that teaching him Spanish would be impossible? |

the problem I have with raheem lawal...is translating such a wonderful performance into his national team assignment he barely play in such manner when called to represent the country.. I think he needs to be consistent Matic?! Last season Matic perharps but not this present Matic. Ndidi plays exactly like Kante, you can't have two such players on the field at the same time, it makes no sense. For Ndidi to go to Chelsea, Kante has to leave or even worse, he has to displace Kante |

Icon79:
The quotes below just got me lolling....because it's so true. That's why I started calling for Barca to fire Enrique ever before he announced his resignation.
As per Abidal, Pep started scapegoating him even before his health scare. Trust me, I know this because I have sources at Barca. He had to play Abidal because he was the only natural left back they had at that time.
Forget Iheanacho, just look at how he treated Yaya Toure at ManCity! Toure had been their best player (and the stand-in captain) over the past 5 years and the man came there to treat him like a nobody! In fact, everything I have heard about Pep tells me that he's a racist. You'll definitely have a hard time convincing me otherwise.
And by the way, I am a Barca fan, so I don't have anything personal against him either.
O pari I didn't say he is not a racist, evidence might support that but that's not my business. Fergie was a racist too so he won't be the first. My point is that he took a team of youngsters and won a treble in his first season, not double, TREBLE. Before 2008 what was Messi's achievement before then? He had the talents no doubt, but he could have been another Robinho if not for Pep. If you trace Xavi's rise and that of Iniesta too, you'd see Pep training them during their La Masia days(Iniesta I am sure but maybe not totally with Xavi). Did you know Busquets before? But he is easily the best DMF in the world. Or maybe you knew Pedro, or Bojan? I could go on and on. He achieved something there, end of |

TheSuperNerd: Okay.... from a psychological point of view... I see where you are coming from now... but don't you think if he was obviously better in camp, Rohr would have played him?
Why would ROHR field a weaker option in the AMF role in a such a crucial game in Ndola? Truth is Nacho was better in camp than Igiebor... so Igiebor got no case at all. Case study, Alampasu performed better than Akpeyi in camp but who started the game against Algeria? My point is not that Nosa is right or something, maybe he felt like he performed better than Nacho in camp and felt he deserved that spot, but it's not only form that dictates the players that will start a game. So if Nosa is complaining, he is only complaining because of his own feelings and inclination towards the idea that 'form should decide who starts every game', that means he isn't totally wrong |

Certitude: For him to get snubbed after that showed he is still poor. what he is saying isn't far-fetched. Remember the reports from camp said that Alamapasu was the best GK in camp prior to the Algeria game? But who later got the nod? Calamity-Akpeyi that's who, so I believe that it's already a clear insight into the fact that Rohr sometimes chooses based on other hidden reasons beside form. In that case Nosa might be unaware of the other reasons hence his recent outburst |

And if Rohr invited him ahead of....Ajagun for example who has been doing well, then that means that Rohr believes that he has been doing well too. And when the coach invites you as the only AMF in camp, you'd atleast believe that you would be used at some point in the game |

TheSuperNerd: Igiebor will play the AMF role better than Nacho?? You have come with another one Mickael2....
So Nacho did badly against Zambia?? Mikel was basically the CMF linking defence and attack in that game... Nacho was the AMF... and his dynamism saw him shift into other attacking positions...
So Igiebor would have offered more than Nacho?? U have come again.... anytime it concerns Nacho and Mikel.... you always come up with some very funny comments.... kwantinue No no see my point. I know you are in the health line so you studied a little bit of psychology no? When you are the only AMF in camp and a striker is choosen ahead of you for the AMF position wouldn't you feel bad? I also learnt he did well in camp so why? And let's be honest, drifting into channels and all you mentioned are duties of a SS not a primary AMF and that was what Nacho was doing, Mikel was doing everything including the creative part of the game which Nacho as the AMF should be doing so I think Igiebor BELIEVES that he could have done better as an AMF there. That doesn't mean Nacho was bad |

Icon79: Actually, without him, Barca won a treble and a double under Luiz Enrique. Remember? So how do you explain that? Were they really winning because of Pep or in spite of him? Your guess is as good as mine.
In addition, Pep's first move as a Barca coach was to sale Eto'o to Inter Milan for Zlatan who wasn't even a Barcatypical player. How did that work out? It was the same Pep who kept hounding Eric Abidal that he wasn't good enough to play for Barca!
And I can go on and on....bottom line, the man is racist is jor!
O pari How many trebles did Barca win before him? None! He took a barca team that just finished 4th the previous season, removed the top players(Dinho and Deco and others) and managed to win a treble that very season with a very young core. The same core he himself discovered at La Masia. Abidal was our starting full back throughout the time he was at Barca, he had to leave because he had a heart issue and keeping up with Pep's tedious training schedule would be impossible for him, I wonder where you got your news from. Barca won the treble 3 seasons after he left with the same philosophy and the same set of players he used. So you can say that it was still his impact bearing fruits. After Xavi left and Iniesta started aging how poor did they become? When was the last did you watch a barca match this season to see how devoid of tactics it is? Just pass the ball to Neymar or Messi and sit down |

John Ogu? Esiti? Ndidi? Onazi? Mikel? Etebo? who biko?
Your last line is spot on... impress and let your feet speak not your mouth. I think his claim is slightly genuine albeit misplaced IMO. Before that game Nacho was not regarded as an Amf, and to be honest, in that game he played more as a SS not an AMF, Mikel did most of the Amf/cmf work. Although Nacho scored I guess his point was that he would have played the Amf position better than Nacho did and I agree. Come to think of it, you are a natural AMF in camp and the coach decides to play a striker in the AMF position ahead of you, that's not so cool |

Icon79: Don't mind them. Let Pep continue to keep proven talents like John Stones, Kelechi, and Nolito on the bench while always playing headless chickens like Raheem Sterling....let's see how he'll win.
To me, what makes a great coach is how he makes his players better. To better understand where I am coming from, just look at what coaches Mauricio Pochettino has done at Spurs, Ronald Koeman did at Everton, and even what the big Sam is doing with Crystal Palace.
Hence, in my opinion, the blossom of players like: Victor Moses, Kevin De Bryune, Romelu Lukaku, Arjen Robben (just to mention a few) after Jose Mourinho is a clear indication that Jose is a piss poor coach; who can only win by gathering the best group of players on the planet. And you can say the same thing about Pep when you think about the likes of Yaya Toure (at Barca), and John Stones, Kelechi, Nolito, etc. at ManCity.
Bottom line, most of these so called great coaches are grossly overrated.
O pari But this is ridiculous. Xavi was an average player before Pep came to Barca, now without him Barca can't seem to get a grip of the ball. Iniesta was not even a regular back then and he sure as hell wasn't as magical as pep turned him into. Do I need to mention Pique that was a bench warmer at Manu? He even made Valdes a better player, the lies that you people come up with just to put him down. He actually made Toure a better player, a more versatile player. Toure was a sure starter in Pep's first season, but when Pep started sharing the minutes between him and Busquets he decided to leave, and when he came to Man City he dominated. |
