In what looks like a perfect mimicry of Falz @thebadguy – “This is Nigeria” music video, fashioned after, Childish Gambino’s viral record, This Is America (which had background vocals by American rappers Young Thug, Slim Jxmmi, BlocBoy JB, 21 Savage, and Quavo), some groups of Uniben students have also come up with their own creative version of the already controversial song. Just Like Falz , the students lead by a student entertainer named, Syndney Talker, in the video, explored the campus ills of the University of Benin, in a witty and interesting way. The guy who is the main artiste talks about a lot of factors mitigating against academic survival ranging from uncondusive learning environment, social lifestyle, state of facilities among others. Check the video out here. I’m sure you will like it. Brilliant concept I must say. http://naijalocals.com.ng/2018/05/30/this-is-uniben-uniben-students-mimic-falz-this-is-nigeria-video/

According, to the news feed, the young man with IG handle, “IKELLIANI SCOTTY IZZU” narrates how hard it is for people to survive in Nigeria, especially in this harsh economic climate with little business patronage. The most affected in the communication business, are the once upon a time, money-spinning Recharge card sellers, who are now victims of mobile banking and technology enabled smart phones, that make buying of call cards online, the best thing for most of us, why many sellers who earn a living from this little venture, find it hard to grow. The guy advises all of us to try and be checking on these small business owners, even if it’s once in a while. A fresh report via Instablog has revealed that a staff of PHCN has just got electrocuted while at work today in an area called Isawo in Ikorodu town of Lagos. The young man already visibly dead, was shown hanging while other staff could only successfully bring his dead body down. Watch the video here http://naijalocals.com.ng/2018/05/29/just-in-phcn-staff-got-electrocuted-at-isawo-area-of-ikorodu-lagos/ However, emotions & mixed reactions have continued to trail this news, as seen from Instagram followers, where some followers felt sad, while some others are mocking. Hmm. I hope we can show concern when it matters Cc: Lalasticlala, r231 and Freiburger

Goat farming is one form of animal rearing, that many interested farmers, often don’t look into, yet it is highly profitable and cost less to manage, compared to other forms of popular livestock business. Naijalocals brings you 20 Reasons why goat rearing is advantageous and watch a video from a practical farmer from Uganda. 1. Goat is a multi-purpose animal producing meat, milk, hide, fibre and manure. In hilly areas, goats are also used for hauling light loads. 2. Goats have very few demands of housing and management. They hardly need separate housing and happily share their homes with their owners or his other livestock. Read and watch a practical report and experience from a goat farmer in Uganda. http://naijalocals.com.ng/2018/05/26/watch-read-20-reasons-why-goat-farming-is-advantageous/

How Much is 3Million Naira? Chicken Change – A Yahoo boy said. By naijalocals - May 25, 2018 Well, I had entered a Mini supermart in town this Morning to buy an Item, then the following debate began. A market sales girl said, if I get 3M today ehn, God knows that my life is made completely already. Oh, aimoye business (Enough business to do). How much is 3M? Chicken change Poverty mentality – A struggling Yahoo boy said. See, I have spent more than that in the past, I can show receipt of drinks we bought in weeks. That money is “owo faaji Mehn” ( 3M is Partying money abeg). One baba, An Elderly okada man interjected, What?? You mean 3M is nothing? “So ti sise owo ri laye e ni” ( Have you ever worked for money before in your life)? Y.Boy: Baba, which kind question be that, I Said I have spent that before, you are asking me if I have ever worked for money before, no, “na steal I steal am” – Baba park well jare. Baba (Okada Man): Lol! Oh. I see “Omo yahoo ni e”? (You be Y-boy), no wonder, you can never know value for money now, because you steal from people.. But why I’m ashamed of you, is that you are still very poor. Look at you, you look like someone that needs to be fed before he collapses and die. Naijalocals: Smiling… It is well! END OF DEBATE.. Lol Lesson: Those who don’t work hard for money would never value one, no matter how heavy the sum is. When purpose is lost, abuse is inevitable. BERNIMOORE:Lol...The ball is in their court. Let's watch as event unfolds. |
Who do you think will win this Election, a friend asked. Prof Eleka or Dr. Fayemi? See my opinion here. Firstly, the election would be a tug of war, going by the already frenzy political atmosphere as at this morning, with a video going viral that showed how Dr. Kayode fayemi’s billboard was being openly destroyed. See the video from suspected thugs from the link below. To me, that’s so uncool. Which ever sides was responsible for that should tread with caution. Politics shouldn’t be a do or die affair. Now to the issue, I wouldn’t want to go extensively on why Prof. Eleka wouldn’t be a bad choice, even though the fayose appendage is being largely painted as why he would be a puppet, which I wouldn’t agree totally with, but I will like to lightly put some things straight here. By default, we all have our strengths and weaknesses and one of the big winning strengths of this man is an already working political structure that he will be inheriting from Oga fayose. See Gov fayose’s clip of 3yrs achievement in office here in the link below. Also his background as an academician will also put to rest, the perceived school of thought, of fayose’s love for anything informal. Being a university lecturer for 24yrs with administrative experience and a Deputy Gov for close to 4yrs, also mean much. I believe he can deliver, I believe he will do something too and I believe he wouldn’t be a puppet as largely being flogged or insinuated. I had same wrong notion about Gov Ambode, years back. I said he will be a puppet, I said he will disappoint Lagosians, I supported Jimi instead, but today Ambode has been doing excellently well, safe for few not too cool excesses. Again, as a person, I also believe you don’t know the true test and ability of a man, until you give him power or a chance. Who would ever think Prof. Osinbajo can be a possible good presidential candidate if supported, but today he is one of the two people that I still love in Buhari’s government, and the second is BRF. Now on Dr Fayemi, I have this view of him… You see, alot have been said about how the minister came all of a sudden to show interest in the governorship race and possible party betrayals, but one big problem with fayemi in Ekitis is that the people already know him, they know what best he can offer, the can predict his style of governance, and many are not moved by his candidacy. Simply put, It is an issue of political see finish and an unimpressive past records.. A new person would have played a form of psychological confusion on Ekitis mind. An Oni (Engr. Segun Oni or A completely new comer) would have been a better gamer or a sealer, with even me joining the squad, because I don’t do party, I do people. If in Osun where I come from, If I see a better candidate from APC today, I’m giving him my vote, irrespective of many undoings of my Gov. Aregbesola, “baba Raufu oko Sheri”. In short I think Fayemi lacks Ekitis street credibility and this is the plain fact. If you want to know who the Ekiti wants, please let’s visit all notable towns in the state particularly, these ones; Ado-Ekiti, Ikere-Ekiti, Ikole-Ekiti, Ijero, Efon-Alaiye, Okemesi, Ifaki, Ilawe, Aramoko, Ise-emure, Iyin, Igede, Isan, Are – Afao, Oye, Omuo, Aiyede, Ipoti, Erinmope, Aiyetoro, Iworoko, Igogo, Awo, Itapa, Otun, Usi, Ido, Iyin, Igede, Ilawe, Ode, Ilupeju, Ikoro, Ikun, Iye, Ijesa-Isu, Ayedun, Aisegba, Osin, and Igbara-odo. These are major places I know. Let’s Interview no less than 50 people from different class of the societies in public places and see their preferred candidate and why. I wouldn’t join them to be judging from Online polls, because guber elections in Nigeria aren’t E-elections, rather they take place on the streets. Lets visit few Secondary schools, Let’s interview the teachers, and same for those at primary schools. A trip to Local government staffs too will be fine, and meeting hospital workers will be cool as well. – This would form a review of the minds of the state civil servant. Do they think Eleka from fayose government isn’t bad or Fayemi is the best choice. Again, the market women in their shops should be questioned or better put, opinion sampled, let’s see who they love to have as their next governor between the two. Transporters like Okada men, drivers and other public road users should be asked questions. Data from These people will really educate us on how many of them truly have a voting card, how many are nonchalant about the upcoming election and what they think of the election and the two big political candidates. The Artisans like carpenters, mechanics, bricklayers, plumbers, and other popular informal skilled labourers, that are common in most towns should be consulted too, to also hear their views. Students in tertiary institutions should be engaged too, from Ekiti State University, students, to Federal University Oye Ekiti students, to Fed Poly folks, to the College of Education students at Ikere, to school of Health Tech in Ijero. All these folks are aptly political deciders and influencers too, bunch of them form the noisy social media constituency. Let’s see their electoral power too, beyond making mouths online/Social media. Honestly, If I have the money, I would have loved to embark on a political fact findings like this, to know what is really the mind of the Ekitis, beyond the rhetorics that is being peddled around online. I would also be doing live videos daily in 30days, to cover all the mentioned towns, except where the interviewed persons do not want to be filmed for security reasons. My inquiries would put to test, and act as a mini opinion sampling, that can even be in form of questionnaires which will be answered by my research teams for the various respondents. This would form the final conclusion for me, and put to rest, the belief, that Elections are usually rigged, even by people who have never voted nor visited the people (voters) to know what informs the voting pattern. I hope to do this one day, starting from my state, Osun, When I have the financial wherewithal, and one that will be largely accepted by the masses and interested political aspirants to help them see beyond the “political rankadede” – of you are the one the people want by deceitful followers and supporters looking for what to eat, even when many would not win a single ward in the real exercise. I hope this can be replicated across major states too.. But for now, let the people decide. Eleka or Fayemi, the voice of the street count more. Happily, election takes place on the streets majorly. What informs the opinion of the streets is what then we should pay careful attention too. For political watchers, Ekitis July 14th, is worth waiting for, as it would be another major unforgettable historical event in the annals of the Nigerian political history. This is what I think. God bless Ekiti. Ekiti o ni baje o ooo....Inn o kun oo For a look at Gov. Fayose's video of 3yrs achievement in office visit this link http://naijalocals.com.ng/2018/05/24/ekiki-whats-the-voice-of-the-streets-saying/ Cc: Seun, OAM4J and Mynd44

I have learned to understand WHY many people still support some politicians today, irrespective of what other people have say to about them, particularly the Negative sides and flaws. When you see some political posts on Social Media, you can but ask Why.. You see, supporting people comes with different reasons and political support is not different. Well, there are 5 types of supporters that I have noticed “based on logistics“. Do have a look, as listed below. 1. Political Beneficiaries: These are people who support politicians base on long standing relationships. Some of them will tell you their relationship predates politics, while some will tell you straight away into your face, by saying, “Ogbeni (Mr. Man), look this man is my hero, my small God, and my helper when I have nothing, I will give him everything I have, even if it is only my vote that he would have. In short, it’s about Past benefits. Well, let me cite an example here. Months ago, a brother from the “source”, wrote about the funny ambition of one Rep member representing our Federal Constituency at the National Assembly. An Old man lawyer around 70yrs, who has been adjudged as the most underperformed Politician in the town recently. Ask the elders in town about the PDP Honourable, they will only hiss and say in our native dialect that, Yèsí reni ran? Radarada! E mo siun yeni mi se l’abuja o (Who is that one? Nonsense, that one is doing nothing in Abuja oo). Lol Well, in brother’s post, about this man, a young Ex student comrade came in, to submit his opinion and reservation about this man. He started sugarcoating everything, and I was following his reasons carefully, until the finally dropped the part that left me to see why his unflinching support is expected. “This man paid for my masters school fees worth 200k” – He voiced out. Lol! There and then I laughed. Well, blame no body for their supports. This thing is not always gauged by merit or personality, it is sometimes by personal relationship. Some people are on payrolls of politicians secretly, some got jobs through politicians, some people’s parents are kowtowing under politicians to survive, so you should understand why the support sometimes. Don’t blame anyone for their political choice, “o ni reason” – E get reason. Lol 2. Track records gaugers: Hmm! These people, give them heaven and earth, these people will still betray you oo.. Their loyalty is for whoever can do it better. It doesn’t matter the kind of relationship you have together in the past. If are you worth it, their support will be unalloyed, but if you don’t, mehn, they would forsake you oo.. They are not political biased, they don’t do ridiculous defences on Social Media, they state it as it is, and have no political affiliation with anyone. They are just average citizens that are politically conscious. 3. Where belle face folks: These ones are in political supports for something huge and nice…Simply put, they are in for the gains oo, I mean “personal gains”. They can die for their politicians, so long something cute is coming. They are known to be working from governments to govt, and from politician to Politicians. No life outside politics. They can discuss politicians from morning till night. Lol! All for the money. See other types here.. http://naijalocals.com.ng/2018/05/13/5-types-of-political-supporters-on-social-media-in-nigeria/

Memo To My Young Friends By Bamidele Ademola-Olateju. Socially referred to as, Mummy G.O, the General Overseer of Social Uprightness. If as a youth, that enjoys reading insightful pieces online, and you haven’t heard or come across tons of brilliant posts from Mrs. Bamidele Ademola-Olateju on Facebook, then you are missing greatly. Talk of Articles that are filled with loads of wisdom, breathtaking scribblings and letters that can make you wow in appreciation of the brain behind the word pulls, Mama G.O is one. MAMA has this Memo for her young friends today. Read and learn! She writes, “Each time I leave Nigeria and I’m back to the United States, the chasm between the two universes forces my brain into overdrive”. “The nature of work is changing rapidly. Even in structured societies where mediocrity is not an art and citizens are educated or well heeled in a skill/trade, jobs are threatened. In the last few days, I came to a very frightening conclusion; the young Nigerian has a not too rosy future. Knowledge is global”. “You cannot compete without knowledge, be it in a school or in a trade. In the age of information, you have no excuse for not excelling. Here is what I have done in my life and still doing. These are life skills I am teaching my daughter early, in words and deeds”. 1. READ! Read Without Limit. Reading grants the ability to sift logical arguments from specious ones. I have been derided as wanting to show that I know everything. No! I don’t know everything but I can brag, that I’m well read. I read everyday! Read about subjects well beyond your expertise. If you studied International Relations, learn a bit about physics. If you read Computer Science, do some reading on human psychology. If you are a Christian, you should read Brian Greene on Cosmology. As a Christian, I learnt some Arabic to be able to read the holy Qur’an. Atheists and Muslims should read C.S Lewis’s Mere Christianity. If you are a progressive with heavy socialist bent, read Milton Friedman’s Free to Choose. While I am a woman of faith, I found Christopher Hitchen’s tome against organized religion in “Letters to a Young Contrarian” interesting. If you are a free wheeling, unrepentant Capitalist, read the Communist Manifesto. Do not read only those things that affirms your beliefs and pre-conceived notions. Without a doubt, you will find patterns you never thought existed. Reading opposing viewpoints will cause you to think profoundly and question your core beliefs and assumptions. Most often when I read, I have come to objective moments where I find myself nodding in agreement with those whose opinion or positions differed from mine. 2. Always Question Yourself and Your Core Beliefs. Frank Herbert wrote; “Knowing is a barrier that prevents learning.” Acknowledge that your assumptions may be misconceived or misplaced. By doing so, you can learn and re-learn. With a questioning mind, you have the potential to update your priors as new facts emerge. You may also find every reason to confirm your beliefs as true and hold to it more strongly. Do not limit yourself. Learning opens us up to new possibilities, people and philosophies we never thought existed. 3. Travel! Do not wait until you get a visa to the United States or the United Kingdom. Go to Ghana, travel within Africa. I have taken a Cross Country Bus to Ghana from Yaba twice. On one occassion, I traveled without international passport, so experience what ordinary cross border traders go through. When you travel, you see differences in cultures and religious traditions. You also see that human need and want remain fixed. When you travel, you broaden your horizon and become more educated. Travelling lets you gain appreciation for the deficiencies of your country and its advantages. In addition, you are able to see your culture through the eyes of others and evaluate it more objectively. 4. Make Friends Outside Your Comfort Zone Being among people who speak the same language, have the same culture and practices the same religion can be incestuous. It confirms your prejudices and biases. Make friends with people who have good ideas regardless of culture, religion, language or politics. Some of my most brilliant friends have backgrounds that a remarkably different from mine, but their ideas make sense. 5. Welcome Change, Be Adaptable! Change is the only constant in life. Change will happen whether you like it or not. Adaptability is one of the most valuable skills anybody can possess. 6. Take Risks Take risks. Some say; take calculated risks. To me, a risk, is a risk. If you dont take risks, how will you calculate it? With risks comes exaggerated possibility of failure but take it! I have taken so many risks and have achieved spectacular failures many times. What I am today, is a creation of more failures than successes. Risk exposes you to people and opportunities. With risk taking abilities, you can test your assumptions, change them or strengthen them. Risk increases our ability to effect change. I will rather ask for forgiveness than permission. 7. Learn From Failure Failure is not the problem. Not learning from failure is. Learn from your failures. Life’s greatest lessons are learned when we fail. When you fail, it means you probably took a risk. Re-assess, re-group and try a different method. Perseverance and fortitude are remarkable attributes to develop. Failure led to the discovery of penicillin. Penicillin saved the world! Do not be afraid! 8. Learn A Trade In my time, there was no internet but I learnt braiding, knitting and sewing. When my then boyfriend Ademola Olateju was going to Scotland in 1989, the only thing I requested for, was knitting pins. My first gift to him was a sweater. He wore it for years! There is nothing you want to learn that is not online for free. Use your phone, tablet or laptop to learn. Please learn the hard stuff, not the easy ones. With due respect, so many ladies rushed into the makeup trade. That is too easy. It has what we call, low barrier to entry and little competitive advantage in business. Anybody can do it. It does not take a lit to learn it. Learn! Be like Lekan Wasiudeen who taught himself photography and videography online. For those in school, there are many websites offering courses online for free. The notes and syllabus for some Ivy league schools are online. Free! Nigerian universities are bad. Okay! That is true. But you have alternatives. You have easy to read notes. Even experiments are on youtube. Indians who have better schools are taking advantage of it. What are you waiting for? Take advantage now! Do not wait for Nigeria or anyone to help you. If you own a phone, use it! Help yourself! #Who is too young to marry after 18yrs? By Elu You wanna know? Now read this! A girl finished school at 20, started working after service year at 22, and from there, one serious mature working class guy in his 30's, that has been searching for long, was all over her. He was pleading, Amope, please marry me now. He asked for her hand in marriage but some village people in the spirits of families, parents, and friends told my dear girl that she's too young for marriage. They told her that she still has full life in front of her, that she shouldn't go and tie herself down in the name of marriage, that marriage is not for a girl of 22, that she ain't matured enough, that she might regret it or marry wrongly, that better guys are always available once she's ready, that she should take her time and starts exploring career wise and the advises are just endless Lol! Fast forward to 6yrs after, this same girl has gone through 3 terrible unsuccessful relationships that has turned her to a walking corpse in the name of depression. She wants to give love another chance again but she ain't just lucky anymore. The guys she is meeting nowadays, want just girlfriend, and probably Gf for benefits, or just to while away time, some need money first, to even think of marrying, but all she wants now is just a serious man that is ready to settle down, and she's still searching, holding onto prayers and hope. You said how about the rejected guy? Oh, he is happily married with kids and still a friend with this girl who he now advises and pray for, like an old friend. Who is this girl, you may wanna ask? Lol! Oh Well, She doesn't exist really, but this is just a play out of realities of many girls here who may be reading this, that have left school a decade ago or years ago and have been working and the only prayer they are praying for now is the #Right Man! Now this is the issue, who is too young to marry after 18yrs as a Lady? At least from legality of age. Who? 19? 20? 22? 24? Lol! Well, there is something that I have learnt in this life, which is the fact that a chase for perfection delays good results, rather, different trials give you experience to learn what makes perfection to come in place. I once wrote sometimes, that if you ask many of us why we are not married, you will find out that if it is not either fear of the unknown, financial challenges, then may be it is largely because of relationship insecurities - in the name of let me look for a better guy or a better girl . You see my people, many of these reasons are understandable and are tenable, but the simple truth is that seeking perfection in either of the cases above only causes nothing but personal delay. If you think you are too young and there is still plenty of time then you need to study how quickly time burns out unknowingly and how the same time you think you have plenty of it, will be the one that would now be against you. 4yrs ago, I was youth Corper and someone once asked me funnily, that when I would likely get married? Lol! I answered, "Marriage for where, me that is still young, I need a good job in an FMCG company. I need to enjoy my bachelor's life to cover up for my long years of celibacy. I need to have many girls around me, when my pocket is loaded, out of which I can pick the best". But see me now, we are still hustling oooo & still single to stupor. Lol! Now, even one funny small boy will say, bros go marry ooo. Lol! Now, if I as a guy is being disturbed left and right, imagine what a girl of my age will be experiencing daily, just like the lady that I fictionally illustrated above. Suddenly, the same people that advised you that the other time, will be the one, now on your neck, saying, 'Iyabo, hey, you are aging oo, do you know you will be 27 by may? Lol Even your parents who said then that you should take your time, will be now be reminding you of those your mates that have married lately and how you must hasten up or drag Mr wrong to the right side. Lol And for you.. Oh, yeah, you are 100% ready now but where are the ready guys? Possibly disturbing another 22yrs old girl who might just say 'Yes, let's give this marriage thing a trial" like Zahra Buhari. Lol Moral of the lesson: There is no such time as a right time for marriage than the time when everything looks favorable on your side but fear of unknown or societal perception of too early, or not good enough for you, may make you delay it for a latter day. See, If you don't keep any ready guy in the future, then my young lucky sister, marry that ready dude now, if he is everything you want in a man. Again, let me add this for older single girls that are searching. If you're 23+ and you ready to settle down, please try to avoid guys between 24 to 28yrs, for marriage plans, because only very few think about marriage at that age. Many are still sorting out their lives. At 25, I was enjoying my life as a young Naija guy with no worries, and any girl at that time for me would have been in a long time waiting mode. Lol! You wanna settle down, roll with men of 30+, with that, your waiting time reduces. And for guys, you wanna settle down now but you have no money, please leave out girls below 24, many are not ready, they wanna explore, and the ready ones have financial burdens, that only big bros could carry. Roll with older girls, you might not pay a dine, as these girls are mostly financially okay on their own. Through them, you get quick parental consent, the families accept you quickly and even fund your wedding plans. Just go bring your family and come and take her away. Lol Wisdom is all we need! #Goodnight Single friends. Let's keep searching rightly and let's not be delaying ourselves unknowingly. |
The art is not in making money, but in keeping it, so says a proverb. While growing up, there is also another elderly wise saying that says, "Only an unwise person, uses both hands to eat, or better still, uses all the 10 fingers while, eating". The import of this sayings is simply about teachings on savings. WHAT IS SAVINGS AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO SAVE? YOU MAY WANT TO ASK? Well, an excerpt from a financial tabloid reads "Savings is the portion of your income not spent on current expenditures. Because a person does not know what will happen in the future". Why must we save?? - Because money must be saved to pay for unexpected events or emergencies. An individual’s car may breakdown on the road, fuel price may go up annoyingly, your landlord may come with rent increment without prior notice, your baby may become suddenly ill, or other emergency situations could come up - Without savings, unexpected events can become large financial burdens. Therefore, savings helps an individual or family become financially secure. While you are making gains, from a particularly endeavour, it is always safe for you, not to use up everything at that point in time, but rather, keep some for further use or some other days. This is why the advice on saving for raining day comes to the mind - A raining day when going out to struggle, might not be easy, because it is just hard to do so, all because of a climate change. "But, Savings is hard to do now" - Many would quickly say. Well, it's true, but there are things to do, to make it easily achievable. You just have to understand few things about saving culture. Hence, I bring to you 3 Salient things that could make savings easier for you. Have a look. 1. Multiple Streams of Income: To say the truth, experience over the years from many people have shown that those who depend solely on only one source of income usually find it hard to save. Except if the only source, is so big, that it may be assumed as one too many. Lol. While having your NYSC, many graduates usually go with the mindset of saving something form the #19,800 allawee, but more than 90% usually return back home more broke. Lol! Why? Because it is just not easy to save, with such amount considering the cost of living in most places in Nigeria, particularly on feeding and moving around. But is saving out of your allaweee impossible? Obviously No. You can even save your whole allawee without touching it - this is why the issue of multiple streams of income comes in. If you see anyone bragging on his or her NYSC days financial prudence, just know that two things made it easy to do so; A waiver/free food, accommodation and utility bills OR another source of income comes through PPA or private engagements. Personally, the best of my NYSC days was when I started coaching a boy for SSCE for 12,000 monthly. That's when I started planning on saving part of my 19,8000. So, experience is the best teacher as they would say. Again, when you put all your everyday financial burdens on a particular meager salary or gains from a task, yet, it is still the same source that you are putting all yours future plans on, then is safe to conclude that you are mere hoping on impossibilities, because truly, it is very hard to do. In doing this, separate your Living expenses - source, from sources for your capital projects; like money for your professional exams, money for your housing projects, new cars, loans, starting new businesses and others. How do you this? Decide today to pick up new things that could fetch you side money. Ever wondered why a banker becomes a baker on weekends? Or why a civil servant is still attending financial freedom seminars? Well, the goal is to be a bit financially sufficient - at least not to grumble but to be able to afford little things and to make savings easier. The bigger your streams of incomes, the better for you, and evidently the more easier it is for you to save. Be opened up to new things. 2. A Decent lifestyle : One of the things that I have observed as stumbling blocks to experiencing less financial headaches, is that of indecent lifestyle - This is not talking about social moral issues but financial uprightness. Most people spend a large chunk of their income on things that add no value to them, beyond mere acquisition, especially on frivolous things, hence they end up putting themselves into serious debts, often. If you manage your income very well, you might not have to be a pathetic borrower - So cut your coat according to your size, they would say. If you earn #20,000, go for only little things that 20k could afford you. With 20k you can pay a monthly house rent of 1000, buy food stuffs of 10k, and keep the rest for your upkeep. You have no business buying new 3 shirts, 2 shoes out of that or going for houses that are far above your reach. Don't just live above your means, just don't, otherwise you will cry. In living decently, comes again, the attribute of financial discipline. You need to discipline yourself to know what you need at every point in time and how important to you, are those needs. If you can do this, it will help your saving culture greatly. Knowing your personality is also important, I mean, knowing yourself. Some people can not fast when food stares, so is it with money, for some - they would always spend as much as they see those money. Saving has come much easier over the last decades to help these categories of people to ensure they don't use all the 10 fingers to eat and that's why banks are set up.. - A bank by definition is simply a place where money are kept, that's why Yoruba call it "Ilé Ifowópamó". Others you can take advantage of, are; Monthly/Daily contributions in Esusu, Ajo, Piggy banks, Cooperative Societies, etc. When you factor in many of these things appropriately, surely you will find saving much more easier than others. 3. Less Dependants & Financial burdens: No matter how big your sources of incomes are, or how discipline you have become with money, if you are unfortunate to have too many people looking up to you to share part of their financial worries, you may always get broke like every other person who had none of the above two attributes. How do you help yourself? Well, you have to learn how to be a less cheerful giver, especially when you are still struggling yourself. Let your "No be No" and don't give-in to emotional distress from callers and even if you must help by all means, ensure it is a little fraction that may never set you back. Stuffs like, "Hey, friend, My landlady is on my neck, borrow me #50,000" - when all you have yourself is just 60,000, must get you into serious thinking. If you must assist, give out 30k and ensure the remaining 30k will still make you fine even if the debt doesn't turn up as expected. Issues of dependants from families must also be carefully looked into, otherwise you will realise you keep struggling year-in-year-out just because your 5 brothers are in the university. Strategize on how you can teach them on how to catch fishes themselves, rather than they being on your neck all the time, otherwise, development will elude you as a man. We have ungrateful loved ones everywhere - those who never looked back after one or two favours. If you must help any one, ensure it doesn't totally rub you off of your own growth. Let them grow behind you while you are growing too. Be wise. Talking or writing further on financial burdens it has been proved that one of the reasons for high rate of poverty in Nigeria and poverty at large, is because of many cultural values. If culture of polygamy, large family size will burry you in a distasteful lifestyle, then you had better have a rethink. As a struggling man with two wives and 8 kids, tell me how possible it will be to save? - Still wondering. When it surely appears that you are responsible for 4 families at large; your ancestral family, your immediate family and families of your two wives. Isn't saving a joke in this scenario? Lol! I'm sure, you all know. Well, that's all I have for this piece. I hope you have learned one or two things. Remember savings is not about today but your tomorrow and if your tomorrow is as important as today, then it is advisable to plan for it as well. Let me leave you with billionaire Warren Buffett's quote that says "Do not save what is left after spending; instead spend what is left after saving." 5 Kinds of Businesses that Ex Olosho (Prostitutes) do - By Naijalocals. Proustition is no doubt a choice, so is it with restitution or Change of ways, on, whether life should continue like that as a sex hawker or going for something that is a bit socially dignifying. A recent video of revelations from a Libyan deportee on our National TV revealed that life could be harrowing, even when you choose to trade your body for Money and risks involved in travelling to places like Spain, Italy and other European countries through boarders could be unimaginable, hence choosing a more befitting business can be a better alternative. From experience, many past sex workers have turned a new way and are now into many businesses that we commonly see around in town. The following are the 5 kinds of businesses that Ex Oloshos do after they go out of service or when they decide to call it quit. 1. Selling Cream & Beauty stuffs. – E.g Flakky’s Beauty Store. I really dont know why they go into this, but you and I know that looking good is a serious business and more than anything else, trading in it, sells better. One good reason that I think makes this, the best thing to do is possibly because they have a good chance of getting more customers from their former constituency, especially “bleaching creams“. You know Olosho love bleaching a lot and they don’t joke with their skin. So, there is sales as you can see. 2. Owning a beer parlour or Cool spot joint. E.g Madam Rose Cool spot joint. There are three reasons why I think they choose this business route. 1. Because they already have a lot of Male Customers, so switching business to this, seems like they are still not far from home. 2. They have a better experience than anyone else to handle this kind of business and can forecast sales, using different factors. 3. It is also a form of expansion from old job and with this, they can even become established recruiters. 3. Hairdressing Shop – E.g Lady-B Beauty Saloon. You know all these beauty Saloon for your manicure, pedicure and Jerry curl. The reason for this is similar to (1) above. – To cater for ladies hair and to make hawkers look more attractive. I’m sure with a good skin and beautiful hair, men who patronize them would always love to keep coming back. 4. Herbs selling or paraga Joint – All these ponkriyon stuffs you see in car parks and garages Well, I think because of the years of experience in handling men sexual issues, they naturally become specialists in selling alcohols and sex enhancement herbs. I’m sure that you will agree with me that no one should know what and what works better for sexual dysfunction and erectile problems, especially for men who love natural things, than these people. Their everyday practical experiences on what could boost sexual performance and lasting longer on bed, would even make medical practitioners to wanna give their suggestions a good thought.. 5. Full time Big Business women Yes, this is so because most sometimes many things could pave way for hitting it big especially when you jam better customers, hence ex oloshos could use these links they have gotten while on the Job to make more money decently. It is not unusual to meet ex olosho going to government offices to bid for contracts and winning bids, especially those that have dated highly placed personalities in their days. This is more like the best of the Jobs they could get. See a big man who cares, and he sets you up with a big cash to start a new life or give you links on what to supply and you become self sufficient. Well, Some things in life sometimes defy explanations, may be reasons for finding one in sex trading is also one of them. Hence, this post is not to judge anyone but a closer look into social business lives of Ex-Oloshos or Sex workers in Nigeria. God bless their hustle. Dear Nigerians, Help us save Kehinde's Education in the hands of an impending Academic Depression. I am so SAD and I need your help to make this go viral. It's bad that what we have to do for this brilliant boy in a country like this is to fight for his education, by extension, his future.. I must first commend the Permanent Secretary Education District 1 Lagos for honoring this brilliant boy and the award of recognition given to him I met kehinde today at the award ceremony to recognise him and many other students who did well. Kehinde made Nine (9) A1's in WAEC and is the best WAEC result holder in Lagos Education District 1 and by extension, Lagos State. Kehinde also scored 279 in Jamb and selected University of Ibadan to study Medicine. Kehinde finished from a public secondary school and has a mum who is a retired teacher. As I write this, Kehinde wasn't offered provisional admission at UI for reasons I am yet to understand. Kehinde Twin brother resumed yesterday at FUTA leaving Kehinde who has the best result at home with so much uncertainty I can tell you, Kehinde is not happy. He's tired and frustrated and he just couldn't understand why his effort and his years of studying is not paying off.. Please my friends, I need you to share this story and let us help Kehinde to get this admission at University of Ibadan. Rock bottom should be allowed to thrive if they put in effort to be great. This is wrong. This is not right. Kehinde shouldn't even be at home Please friends... Share this story For clarification: University of Ibadan Post UTME for medicine is 71 and he scored 61. They advised that he get a change of course form to Veterinary Medicine which is 60 for merit and he did But as we speak, he's not even admitted for the Vet medicine https://ui.edu.ng/news/20172018-cut-marks Cc: olawalebabs, Richiez, Fynestboi

Okada Riding- The other Job, for Osun Men. For weeks now, I have had the singular honour of interviewing few okada men in ancient Ile-Ife town, in Osun state, and the result of the encounter and interaction shows that, okada riding is the umbilical cord for economic sustenance among low class town men, especially at a time like this. At the okada parks, the first two men I met, work with the university, as office clerk and gateman, and eke it out of the town, with their okada. To them, without this business, they can't imagine what life will be. Okada is a life saying hustling, they say. Most close from work around 4pm and use their motorcycle to ply the town in two hours before leaving for home around 6pm, and make usually make no less than a thousand naira. This, to them will take care of money to give their children the next day, while going to school and also to buy food for the next day as salaries are very little, and usually don't come as at when due. To them, this is the other job, a business that is a life saver. I also met three other young guys as well, they are surprisingly not full okada men as one may have thought. One is a bricklayer, and when he doesn't see jobs like that, he works in few hours in morning and also at night, and from this, he keeps soul and body together. The cases of the other two guys, are also not different from the first. Surprisingly one of the other two is an HND graduate, who teaches in from morning till afternoon, and ride after school hours. He told me he earns #10,000 from a school I know very well in the town. But the bike fetches him 3 times of his salary in a month, depending on how serious he is. From these men, I was informed that if you work for 4hours+, you can conveniently make 3k. They cultivate the habit of making a daily contribution of thrifts, of 1k called (àjo) and keep the other 2k. Asked about the stress in the trade, they laughed and replied that "which work is not stressful in this country? Even you the "alakowes", ain't you going through hard tines to get job done and experiencing mental tasking". "I rest on Saturday and Sunday, one of them replied. If I can make 6k averagely from Monday to Friday, I'm okay. I also have a farm, so, some Saturdays I go there". Can I do this business too, by buying an okada and give it out to someone to ride and deliver payment weekly. One of the elder man replied, "My brother, it is not like it was before, no body will ride a bike and wouldn't want to make two times over you, the owner". "In fact as university staff, I collected a loan in 2009, bought one and gave a church member to ride and what do I get form it? Complain over complain, until I sold it out". He continued; "Look at this bike, I bought it Jan. 2015 and by Dec 2017, it will be 3yrs of usage and it's still look sparkling new, as you can see. If it's those boys, it may not last 6months before they start complaining" He spoke further, "If you have someone trustable sha, you can make little gain but nothing is like using it yourself". Okada business is no doubt a means of pulling through the economic distraught; one, where most artisans will be in their shops for hours, but wouldn't be proud of having 3 customers, and the same is for government workers, especially junior officers, whose salaries are usually meager to take care of their many responsibilities, and there are many others like that who had turned riding to the other job. Above all, one advantage that motorcycle gives their owner, is easy access to quick money. If you own a bike, you can pick passengers anytime and any day, to settle your bills. With increasing population and town expansion, it is not too much to conclude that okada business has come to stay, by plying places that other means of transport can not reach, and anyone that owns a bike, and can ride, can never go hungry. #Lateef Eluyemi writes from Ife.
