Education › Re: School Fees Of Anchor University, Deeper Life Owned (Screenshots) by micxwell(m): 1:26am On Jan 15, 2017 |
pavy: you are missing the point, its not a question of weda a private university is expensive to run. The point is, what is the motive for establishing a private university in the first place? For a church, I would like to think that their motive should be to provide a better alternative to the public schools. We all know that our public versities is a hub of all form of social vices like cultism and indecent dressing. Therefore, a church owned university should be a place of high moral and educational standards, where members can send their kids to without the fear of them being corrupted or initiated into cult groups.
Therefore, a church should not bother to set up a university if over 90% of its members can't afford to send their kids to such a school. Whose kids do they hope to train, when they setup the versity and fix such a high price as tuition fee? in a country where over 60% of Nigerians live below $1 per day.
Somebody made mention of quality education being free in Germany. It is true. What that person failed to mention is the fact that most of these schools abroad get constant donations from ex-students, organizations, and wealthy citizens to maintain the standard of the school. Unfortunately in Nigeria, instead of donating to our public universities to improve the standards, our politicians and other wealthy Nigerians set up their own schools to compete with the public schools, thereby worsening their ratings and standard further. It is disheartening to see that even churches have joined in this trend.
A church should not concern itself with building schools, their plates are full already as it were. Millions of people still haven't heard of Jesus, and according to Mark 16:15-16, evangelism is the only commission Jesus gave to the church.
Bottom line is that churches should not be building universities to compete with our public universities, they can use the fund to donate equipments, and fund research work in our schools. But if for any reason they set up a university, it should be for the benefit of its members and for the furtherance of the gospel of Christ. Anything contrary to this is unacceptable. Unless the schools were set up to make profit. Bro, may the God I serve fill your life to the brim with favour anf grace this year. Infact you just voiced out what is on my mind. GOD BLESS YOU. |
Education › Re: School Fees Of Anchor University, Deeper Life Owned (Screenshots) by micxwell(m): 12:20am On Jan 15, 2017 |
NoToPile: You would be surprised that the fees covers only cost of maintenance and payment or even part of salaries, running a university isn't cheap. I won't be surprised if the church still pumps money to pay some salaries . In all honesty saying they are making profit may not be fair.
Mfm's MTU is around the same range 600-700 and they have a sort of scheme for indigent students (a sort of scholarship scheme ) where students can be adopted and someone either pays their fees or pay for their meals. Even standard feeding is now expensive. I know of a church owned university, that members of the church still contribute to maintain every year and I can conveniently say just 1 in every 400 of the church members has a ward in the university. Infact, my pastors daughter is the only one that attends the uni in my local church.
The simple truth is quality education is expensive, studying science is even more expensive. Just one small equipment can run to millions of naira now that the exchange rate is terrible.
This is one of the reasons I was in support of LASU's increase then to 250,000, the fees students pay doesn't go anywhere and that's why we keep having terrible hostels, terrible facilities etc since government can't keep up with the cost.
Like someone said on this thread, somebody pays for the free or highly subsidized education we see. In some countries its the Government.
I would be very surprised if I see a private uni that charges less than 600k.
A university is more than structures that what some people don't understand and have some courses are more expensive than others because of the costs put in place to get such departments rolling.
People may have contributed to build a university but do you expect people to keep contributing to maintain the university, the university has to be maintained from fees paid. |

Dongreat: Music is a food to the soul but does that include music from either Ghana or Nigeria? I have listened to the guy songs and one word "TRASH". He just murmured all over his songs while repeating rubbish lyrics with no meaningful rhymes and still shouting "Mr EAZI". He use one beat pattern to cover all these flaws and like many Nigerians with no sense for the importance of lyric but mad over beats, they called and crowned him Next Rated, just like they did to Mr Skibo and Rekedo banks but where is the rated among these mentioned. Well people music taste are different but for music to be a food then it has to deliver meaningful lyrics. The great Fela has no sense of rhymes but his lyrics are heart touching, making his Afro songs original. I listened to Titanium, Bang your Head, The Greatest, Elastic Heart by Sia and even as she is no preacher, her words on those songs are powerful than any man of God I have encountered.
"They call me Mr Eazi and Life is Easy because I roll with Wizzy, oya zagga that". And you call that music?? I just heard one MrEazi won at the HEADIES. Don't even know him or what he looks like until now. For those tracks by Sia, I completely agree with you. |

naijadeyhia: What happens after Death shouldnt bug you down. First live the God kind of life and death or its rewards would take care of itself. You are putting the cart before the horse
The faithless unbelieving mind would see it as speculations but the FAITH EXPERIENCED soul knows otherwise
Again you are still assuming and this is a false premise. Your assumption shows you do not believe in it so why waste your energy talking about what you do not believe or accept its reality? Its like saying I DON'T DON'T DO want to eat. Stop being confused.
Thats is not the explanation of Mathew 5:20. Lets go back and read from verse 17
Matt. 5:17 “Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. Matt. 5:18 “For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Matt. 5:19 “Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Matt. 5:20 “For I say to you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.
Jesus was speaking to the crowd in response to the Pharisees' accusation that Jesus was trying to abolish the Law of God. Jesus refuted this accusation, saying that His purpose in appearing before men was not to abolish anything. Rather, Jesus came to fulfill the Law. The word fulfill in Greek is pleroo, which is also translated "to complete." In other words, Jesus came to complete or accomplish the entire Law.
He goes on to say that heaven and earth will not pass away until the entire Law of God has been accomplished. Jesus is the One Who accomplishes God's Law by keeping the entire Law perfectly. Jesus never sinned during His earthly life, and so as He went to His death on the cross, He had accomplished or completed all the requirements of God's Law. Jesus was referring to His completing of the Law when on the cross He said, "It is finished."
The Pharisees were accusing Jesus of setting the Law aside, while they endeavored to keep it in their own power. Jesus condemned the Pharisees and anyone else who tried to follow their example by saying that unless they could keep the Law even better than the Pharisees kept it, they could not enter the Kingdom of Heaven. This was a daunting challenge, because the Pharisees were scrupulous followers of the Law. If the Pharisees didn't have enough righteousness on their own to enter Heaven, then who could?
Obviously, Jesus was alluding to that answer. No one can earn their way into Heaven, because no one is righteous enough to make it through works. This is precisely why Jesus came to fulfill the Law on our behalf, so that His perfect work could be credited to us on the basis of faith.
Now that the Law has been completed by Jesus on our behalf, we are no longer obligated to keep it ourselves. That is not to suggest that the Law itself has gone away, but only that our obligations to keep it is gone, because Jesus has already kept (i.e., fulfilled, completed, accomplished) it for us. Likewise, anyone who discounts the importance of God's Word will suffer loss.
Jesus is the One Who kept and taught the Law, and as a result, Jesus will be the One Who is called great in the Kingdom of Heaven (Matt 5:19). Believers are not to follow the Law out of obligation, Rather, we teach that the Law has been fulfilled by Christ's work, and we rest in His perfect accomplishment of the Law rather than in our own futile efforts to keep it.
Explained above
1 Corinthians 9:26-27 Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air; but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.
If men can discipline themselves PURPOSEFULLY purging the mind of sinful thoughts is extremely easy. It is only an already perverse mind that would find this impossible or a struggle which is why the very foundation to everything is as explained above the RIGHTEOUSNESS IN CHRIST. If your foundation is not Righteous then every other product will not be. Sweet water cannot come from a bitter source. Corn cannot bring forth yam.
Are you an ex catholic? Only catholics believe in confessions in church or to Priests. True believers housing the Holy spirit in them speak with God anywhere anytime and can repent anywherew anytime so your position is wrong
Like i already said, only an already perverse mind would see it as complicated and complex. A humble PURPOSEFUL soul sees it as a life which he or she has been freely given and expected to TRAIN and BECOME.
This is solely your perspective! There is no arbitrariness with God as all He does has a purpose to it. He does not need those laws but put them in place for you IN PURPOSE. Earthly finite rulers cannot be used as a descriptive comparison with Divine infinite God.
If you were to be an ANT and i an ELEPHANT would you say you could see further or see more abundantly or be able to take in the bigger picture better than i could?
[s]Okay, imagaine if our dear president, Muhammadu Buhari is the God we are talking about, just try to picture what would happen. . .
Here's what I surmised:
- Fulani Herdsmen would kill thousands with boundless impunity.
- Favouritism will be the norm.
- He could send lightening to strike you for criticising him on social media even. [/s] I hope now, after some sober reflection, the implications have dawned on you? Are you kidding me? We would be done for in that event.
Tautology! If you scale through the hurdle of Sin then you would not be condemned!
Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Again solely your opinion! I think you need to do more research to find out if the tales found in the Bible are fictitious or not because clearly you have not. Even Seun agrees to PARTS of the bible being TRUE. This is why i said this is SOLELY your opinion.
Now if you are quite done can we move on to something else? Three words for you.. GOD BLESS YOU |

[quote author=CASTOSVILLA post=46474495]This is to counter this thread https://www.nairaland.com/3040875/very-important-mistakes-architects-make.1. ACCEPTING THEIR LIMITATIONS Architects are the real consultants and their duty is to bring together the building team in other to achieve optimum desired goal in any building project. Most Civil Engrs parade themselves as Architects, quantity surveyors, Electrical Engrs etc because they feel like it is their duty alone to handle every espect of the building construction. 2. POOR AND WRONG STRUCTURAL DETAILS AND CALCULATION SHEET I've witnessed this in many cases and I don't know whether the cause is laziness or lack of the knowledge. Most of them depend on software like Orion and the rest to do the job instead of using AutoCad to exercise their ability. Will the Architect be blamed after the collapse of the building due to wrong and misleading structural details and specifications? 3. LIMITATION IN STRUCTURAL KNOWLEDGE AND APPLICATION/ LACK OF CONFIDENCE. Imagine when an Architect know better in terms of structural intergrity and construction methods. Most Architect design ground breaking edifice hoping that the so called Civil Engr will do justice to it, the next thing he'll hear is,"this is not achievable". Most Civil engineers are afraid to challenge themselves thereby resorting to denials and excuses not to handle a project beyond there technical/engineering capabilities. Some cannot extent a cantilever more than 900mm without applying a pillar. Any point of intersection of beams, a pillar is introduced. At the end of the day, pillar are seen everywhere. Some knows nothing about expansion joints even when it's clearly representated in the design. A whole lot of structural blunders are being commited by these Civil Engrs that one continues to wonder. 4. LIMITED KNOWLEDGE IN THE USE OF DIFFERENT STRUCTURAL MATERIALS (esp Steel) Whenever you watch foreign football you'll notice the length at which they span the cantilever in their stadiums. Have you wondered why even at such span, it still carries a lot of spectators with ease. What type of material was used (even if you know), how was it constructed (most of our Civil Engrs do not know this and are not willing to know). Come to think of the little we do over here with rod, sand, stone and cement, some of these civil engineers cannot properly specify the correct mixture and proper reinforcement rather, they resort to guess work. 5. NOT WELL TRAVELLED It pains me as an Architect whenever I get into an arguement with any of the Civil engineers in regards to the structural intergrity of some conceptual designs and the ones already constructed. Most Civil Engineers hate to see designs with concept. It beats their ability and it weakens their mind. I use this medium to urge our indeginous Civil Engrs to take their time and travel outside Nigeria. Go to Dubai, France, Italy, USA etc, go see for yourselves. Things you cannot do, go and see people doing it! NOTE: I've worked with a lot of Civil Engrs and I can say that only few of them understand what is required of them and can relate to the above argument. The reasonable ones won't argue but will try to go back and improve on themselves. Remember, no design from a qualified architect is unworkable, the problem is from the construction |
