You only assumed you understood my stance. May be re-read my comment and you will have a better grasp. I said what the writer called blunder is " deviation " as a result of the English language being a second language in our country. Go and learn from experts in the field of language and you will discover that no learner of a foreign language can use it perfectly like the native speakers. You're bragging about another man's language and have no plan to save your own indigenous language. I wonder why some Nigerians love to identity with everything foreign to the extent of labeling their fellow countrymen not smart for using the English language "incorrectly". There is nothing called substandard language anywhere. No matter the language, whether pidgin or creole, if the speaker and the audience can understand themselves, it's a complete language. Language primarily exists for communication. If it can perform that role, no issue whatsoever. I'm not insulting the intelligence of anyone, it's just that you're suffering from colonial mentality.
Oga, the fact that linguists have recognised that cultural and social factors can lead to deviant constructions does not preclude us recognising that said constructions are incorrect

"No learner of a foreign language can use it natively like native speakers"? And who told you we aren't native speakers? Who told you we are learners? As far as its our national language,we are native English speakers. We've been in contact with this language for at least 60 years, we use it to communicate and we have access to resources that teach it.

Germans and Spaniards are non-native speakers and learners, yet they start the language from secondary school and always make an effort to improve on it

Come on! We are intelligent enough to learn the rules of a language and apply them correctly, stop making feeble excuses

For your information, native, pidgin and Creole languages have rules and everybody follows them. That stuff in OP is not pidgin, it's wrong grammar

If OP made a post about pidgin blunders, would you be saying all this?

Is "I chop never" as correct as "I never chop"? Is that part of your so-called deviation?

You have a colonial mentality yourself but you don't even realise it. The colonialists and slave traders assumed that we were too stupid and lazy to learn how to do anything and you are thinking along the same lines

We don't need to wallow in ignorance, no knowledge is a waste

Have you not heard some say 'no deal is better than a bad deal'? They'll be in trouble with some of their people whatever they do since not all their people want the same deal.

The debates are ongoing. DUP are not having it because it splits them from UK. Labour will not have it because damn Boris. Scotland will not have it and neither will Wales because they want what Northern Ireland are refusing and some Tories won't have it because damn Boris and they want to Remain.

Fact is this is a Tory dilemma that goes back decades destroying every Tory Prime Minister since the 70s. It destroyed Margaret Thatcher, destroyed John Major, destroyed David Cameron, destroyed Teresa May and just might destroy Boris Boris!

UK can't leave Europe like Nigeria can't leave Africa or Biafra leave Nigeria. All the people can move of course, to Equitorial Guinea or Alaska if they like, but the land will remain Europe whether they like it or not!
Lol "no deal is better than a bad deal" was the most stupid thing they could have said, even if it may be true. Theresa may is now being lampooned for saying it...it was too divisive a statement to make considering how volatile the situation is

You are correct about all those things, I was just saying that if the deal is to go through, its all the mouth they have been making over the past 6 months that will do it

Its a Tory dilemma but its strange to see Tories openly opposing their leader; they are usually more united. Labour is usually more rowdy

Well those examples are not the same, its possible to still be in Europe and not be in the EU. The problem is how to leave. Nigeria can still leave ECOWAS if they so choose, but the land will still be in Africa

Syria is comprised of a growning 60% Islam population. Other religion is fragmented into bits of 10%, 5% or so and so it qualifies as an Islamic nation whether minor religious bits exists or not.

Yea, Nigeria is not an islamic state else I wount be able to type this....but the part of Nigeria with moslems is just so problematic.
Yeah you are right about that

Now you are getting the point.
I got the point I just didnt think Syria was a correct example since there are plenty of non-Muslim Syrians

Thats like referring to Nigeria as an Islamic country or saying that its problems are caused by Islam when really Islam is a secondary issue

What is the percentage of moslems in syria? Let's start from there. The fact is that moslems just have this aura of instabilty and chaos around them anywhere they go...even if they aren't the ones doing the fighting. That is why they even fight themselves.
I agree with you I was just pointing out that Syria is not really as simple as all that. Even Iran/Iraq were somewhat okay until people started interfering with it

Iraq and Syria were both socialist countries with a secular approach to religion..but religious sects still mattered in the background. It was the way they were divided by colonialists and the way power was allocated unequally to different regions/tribes/religions in order to favour outside interests that made everything spoil (just like Nigeria)

As at when due is correct bro, i have been using it in my work place " Carried out inspection as at when due.
"As and when due" means "as it is due and when it is due", meaning carrying out the inspection as it is supposed to be carried out, at the correct time

So it cant be "as at when due"

Every sentence you referred to as grammatical blunder is not a blunder in the real sense of its definition. It's a deviation. English is not our first language but a second language. You don't expect us to speak the language like the native speakers. What you termed incorrect is Nigeria's English. We have different 'Englishes' the world over. American English, South African English, Australian English and UK's English have various deviations from one and the other in terms of phonetics, syntax, semantics and grammar in general. Let's stop this mentality of correct and incorrect English sentences or statements in Nigeria. No native English speaker can use your indigenous language like you. You will always find issues with a learner of your language. Don't put yourself under any linguistic yoke. Nigeria has come of age to have her own variety of the English language. Let's nativise the English language in order to express our local contents. Where a Nigerian man says: be my eye in that meeting ", a Britisher would say: represent me in that meeting." Let me say this more authoritatively, no learner of the English language can use it like the native speakers. Why? They determine correctness and incorrectness of their own language. Anyway what counts in any given communication is understanding. There should be no qualms as long as your audience understands you. I'M AN ADVOCATE OF NIGERIAN ENGLISH.
There is a difference between Nigerian English and a grammatical blunder.

Dont insult the intelligence of Nigerians by excusing bad grammar as "Nigerian English"

Being a Nigerian or a black person doesnt mean we should speak a lower grade of English than anybody else or English that's full of mistakes just to make ourselves feel empowered

Making a mistake in grammar is not a crime, we can correct the person and move on

"Lacking behind", "He is matured", "the reason is because" Are all wrong! And there is nothing "Nigerian" about them. Being Nigerian is not synonymous with not being able to learn something or correct your mistake

Many words classified as wrong here are just usage dependent. Else, how can 'horn' be wrong and 'honk' right when 'honking' is American English?
Because "horn" cannot be used as verb in this context and "honk" can

"Horning" is when an animal uses its horn to attack somebody

Honk is a normal English word and not particularly American

No 19 is also worrisome. How does "I left my phone behind" convey that one actually forgot his phone and not deliberately left it?
Its kind of true,

If you say "I forgot my homework at home", are you trying to say that you left it at home or that when you were at home, you couldnt remember it?

You're welcome, that "all-night vigil" is the church kind though

If you are staying awake with a sick person or looking out for something it will still be "vigil"

Ok. Now this makes sense. All-night vigil. Surely you can keep vigil in the day time too or is there another word for daytime vigil?
There are two meanings of "vigil"

Holding a vigil is the one where you stay up all night for a particular reason

Then "vigil" is a Catholic celebration day

So when you want to specify that its the first one, you'll say "all-night vigil"

17. Exercise patience is correct, nothing wrong with it. But it's just old fashioned

18. Barbing salon is correct, but "saloon" is the wrong word

21. More grease to your elbow is correct but more power to your elbow is more formal

29. I will sleep at 10PM is fine

"23. My body is scratching me (wrong)" this is just what happens when we translate straight out of our native languages into English

You will get funny results like "my body is paining me", "my eye is turning me", "let me hear the smell" "come and buy my market" "I am at your front"
