Bro uve said it all, Fela was a conscious musician and he sang about African mentality, man know urself, white man no be God, same with Lucky Dube infact I shock when I knew Lucky Dube was from SA,

These are men that gave u music for inspiration to be creative as a black man to be a better leader.

Afro beats originated from Fela, he coined his own style of music from existing genres, was a top educated man, now he wore pant during interviews it was to show his rebellion against the white man that came to colonize Africa, go watch his interviews, fought the military, was not afraid of persecution.

His lifestyle might not be what u will copy. Cause of course where money dey u go see women plenty, most times Stars have their own weaknesses, Michael Jackson till tomorrow, King of pop, was accused of being a pedophile, but u can't take it away from him on his performances and music

Wizkid need to apologize for what he has said he would have attacked Seun not Fela, u can't even call Wizkid were Fela dey na insult.
Afrobeat did not originate from Fela.
Fela himself learnt Afrobeat in Accra, Ghana where he traveled to and joined a band called Hedzoleh (google it) from 1967-69. That is where he learnt what is called Afrobeat today.
But Fela became the most popular in the genre and his political activism made him peerless.

Great explanation although i think you're mistaking "Afrobeats" with "Afrobeat". The popular music today in Nigeria is "Afrobeats" with an "s", Fela's genre is just "Afrobeat".

For each generation they'd have entertainers who they thought were the greatest. Go talk to people who lived in the 70's, 80's and 90's you'd hear different entertainers/artistes names who were the biggest names at the time. This very music we have in Nigeria today will go down the same path that every other music, artistes, performer, entertainer before them had gone.

Musicians will come and go with varying degrees of fame or impact, all these arguments on who's the greatest are irrelevant at the end of the day. By the way old music especially from the 80's (the best decade) sound great both Nigerian and abroad.
I am talking about both Afrobeat (of Fela) and AfrobeatS which Wizkid, Davido, Mr. Eazi etc are said to be playing.
Both set of genre originated from Ghana's Highlife and Hiplife genres but Nigeria is the biggest market and beneficiary because we have the numbers to make better commercial success. That is partly why Fela achieved the big success in Afrobeat, and the current crop(Wizkid, Eazi, Davido etc) also making it big from Afrobeats.
But the success seems to blind our sense of judgement and modesty which then makes us to talk arrogantly, rudely and disrespectfully to seniors and progenitors of the genres

I bet it's not. How do you birth a child at 70 when you know you are close to your grave! Yes, you desire the joy of being called a parent but shouldn't you reserve a thought for the child you are going to abandon as infant?
Abraham gave birth in his 90s?
Let's us remember that none of us here is God to determine the age someone should give birth or how long one would live on this earth.
What matters is to make provision for the child's wellbeing e.g. assets and investments. One may give birth at age 20 and still in his 20s or 30s!
Celebrities › Re: Motunrayo Kuti To Wizkid: “You Are Also Bigger Than Your Useless Father” by mikeapollo:
An uninformed, ignorant generation that glorifies and worships anything on the surface without probing further. Mediocrity!
That is the only reason why someone like Wizkid and the likes can be described as ''superstars'' by some dead-ignorant fans and media. That is the source of this foolish pride.
The current prop of musicians are only benefitting from the advent of space and internet technologies which has made it very easy for their songs and videos to be aired across the world within minutes after they are released. If not, these boys are nothing musically!
It is actually very annoying to some people that Wizkid would say he is bigger than Fela. Fela belonged to the generation that worked hard to achieve success.
But there is a common problem:
We Nigerians just like to brag and arrogate glory to ourselves even when we do not deserve it. This somehow makes us sound arrogant, proud and disrespectful!

The same way those who know Fela's history and musical evolution would feel when some people (especially Nigerians) open their mouth to say that Fela is the originator or creator of Afrobeat.
Fela himself traveled to live in Accra, Ghana 1967-69 where he joined a band called Hedzoleh, That is where he learned the genre that is called ''Afrobeat'' today. It was that band that worked with him to release some of his best songs when he returned to Nigeria in 1970 after the civil war.
But people who do not know the origin and evolution of the genre would be the first to open their mouth to say ''Fela created Afrobeat''. The same problem with Wizkid right now. Claiming what he does not know or have.

The soccer federations – amid a threat to UEFA's tax-exempt status in Switzerland, over the group's cooperation with Israel – pushed to halt the demolition of a soccer field in the Aida refugee camp. The IDF had called the site's proximity to the West Bank separation barrier a security threat

They can play football but Palestinians can't have a football pitch and play football. Smh.

Even a soccer field, sports and football are not spared of their genocide against Palestine.

The whole shenanigan pf the Europeans enabling their fellow Europeans that they settle in occupied Palestine will end some day.

Palestine, like then South Africa under apartheid, will be free.
''Palestine'' is a contrived invention by some Arabs and their supporters to take over the ancestral and Biblical land of Israel, which they never wanted to exist in the middle-east.

The export was mainly from the INFORMAL SECTOR...as indicated by the statistics of the CBN...what this means is that, The major export of the government is OIL...I was expecting to hear that non oil export was from the government... The monies from non oil export go into the pockets of individuals who carry out the export... before some of you ask stupid questions, know that every foreign income must pass through the CBN, that's why they were able to track and have the statisui...but unfortunately, the non oil export are from private individuals and not the government...the government is happy that I am exporting non oil products...😂😂😂😂😂...if you don't read the entire article, you will think the non oil export was from government
Thanks and God bless you, my brother.
Most Nigerians are totally ignorant and clueless, and always eager to praise the govt for no work done.
If a farmer or businessman should export ginger or garlic to Europe and earn forex, why should you give credit or praise to a govt that might have played no role in helping the farmer or businessman?

Before the coming of Zichis Plc, let us list some stocks that lost steam and gas since after they were recently listed in the Nigerian stock market. Cases of Much Ado About Nothing.

1. Aradel
2. Geregu
3. Haldane McCall
4. Legend Internet
5. VFD Group

Will Zichis Plc likely be their Number 6?
VFD did bonus issue of 5-for-1 in 2025 after the listing. This is massive and more than enough compensation or benefit to shareholders.
The shareholders received 5 new shares for every 1 share previously held by them! Hence the share price would be adjusted downwards, accordingly.

This is Ghanaian Angwamo.

It is basically braised rice, made with very few ingredients, then served with orisirisi, including sardines, fried eggs, and grinded fresh pepper/onion mix by the side.

The taste of the rice itself is bland.

This is too dry, and incomplete.
Normally, Ghanaians would provide enough stew to go with this rice, especially with the corned beef included.

Any thoughts on the MCO Penny ltd savings? It promises 26% interest per annum with upfront interest payment. How safe is it? Anyone invested before?
If possible, avoid all these schemes and go for credible and well structured schemes e.g. T. Bills, FG Bonds, CP that would give you peace of mind, even if the interest rates are not the highest

Watch out!
A key pointer that should warrant your suspicion is when they offer you mouth-watering interest rates e.g. 26%; at a time when FG's TB rates is about 17.5%. and CPs are about 18%-20%

Please walk away in peace

The FG has denied ownership.

In a Vanguard story I just read, the FG has clarified that the Lagos Gold Refinery and others spring up around the country are privately owned.
This is how propaganda could backfire.
If the refinery is owned by a private company, the FG should have said so very clearly, instead of trying to play politics and take undue credit for it which has now caused this needless controversy.

How will you know the worth of a stock at IPO for eg a stock like Dangote refinery and it's earning power. I am concerned that it may be overvalued initially because of all the hype you listed. Will it be fair at 10k per unit and what metrics can we use to say so.
Those things I mentioned are the strategic advantage of the company, not "hype".
Again, DR operates in the free trade zone, so it is exempt from paying taxes on its exports, giving profits in billions of dollars! . Not many companies enjoy this incentive. NLNG is another company that enjoys this...you can go check out its annual profits and see.
If you want, you can wait for the stock to be fully listed and it's financial statements published for you to do the analysis before you buy. But by that time the price may have doubled. The market does not wait for anyone.
You may also want to compare the listing/offer price, prospects, projections of the newly listed company(though not cast in stone) with those of similar companies already listed on the NGX and make a decision..
Any choice you make would involve some risks.
As for me, I would not even wait or think twice before I buy. It will be the most sought after stock in the NGX. I just hope I have enough liquid cash on me when it comes out.

Spot on

Waiting gives better clarity and better valuation, for initial public offering, valuation metrics available to the investing public are limited, therefore waiting for better clarity makes sense.
Theoretically, you may be right. But it still depends on the particular stock, the sector, business model of the company, the free float, listing/offer price etc.
It could be a mistake to wait for 3-6 months after IPO to buy a stock like Dangote Refinery which enjoys a huge monopoly in a very critical sector like oil and gas downstream with significant exports. Alhaji also promised to pay dividends in dollars, just like Seplat.

Recall MTN and Airtel? Their price doubled in less than six months after listing.
