The first time we are having a true President in donkey years
This one knows how having more investors can attract even many more
When your President is obsessed with the Economic growth of his country, this is what you get.
We are almost there Keep on deceiving yourself with empty rhetoric. A country where a clueless, incompetent president could just wake up one morning and devalue the currency from N650/$ to N1400/$ just like that. Several multinationals are packing up and leaving the country. No light, no water, no reliable transport infrastructure, high interest rates, high inflation, poor purchasing power of the citizens, high poverty etc. Now, they want to impoverish the people more by increasing VAT from 7.5% to 15%. No one can do any meaningful long term plan. The key to economic growth is not just to be obsessed. It is by detailed, painstaking economic planning and mobilization of the people using the example that you show them as a leader. |

Which disparity? If ur governor is working, he will close the gap. But no, they are resting in Abuja and abroad while waiting for Lagos, Delta and Rivers do the the job and give to federal govt so they can share it to FAAC. Stop being myopic. Lagos is big today only because of FG investments in the state. Most people working in Lagos today were attracted to the place because of prior investments by FG when it was the federal capital. Headquarters of banks, companies, embassies, air ports, sea ports, railway etc. were established there and these led to further developments that attracted more businesses and population. A similar thing is happening in Abuja. So you cannot be talking as if the Lagos state government is doing well because it is working harder than others. Any other state that had what was given to Lagos by FG would also be rich today. |

ghm: You are the one mixing up the issues Sir.
The title of this thread is "Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts" and not about politics or an evaluation of the government of the day and their policies. I keep redirecting you but you were bent on forcing your opinion of the government on us in this thread. The stocks market is not in a silo; it reacts to economic factors like inflation, interest rates, exchange rate etc. which are driven by economic policies of the government These factors also affect the prospects and viability of companies that list on the stock exchange. Some companies have folded up and delisted from the NGX in recent times, partly due to some of these factors. These things also determine or influence investors' choice of securities to invest in (e.g. stocks, fixed income, currency etc.) and how we hedge our investments against risks. Yet, you are an investor but you don't want to hear people talk about these things. What I am talking about is not politics. I am not mentioning the names of political parties or politicians that you should vote or not vote for. I am discussing economic policies of a ruling government which can affect the general performance of the economy, as well as companies listed on NGX, before they are able to make profits and declare dividends and distribute to you and I. You may not be comfortable with my comments about the economic policies of the government, but the reality is in our faces. |

emmanuelewumi: Price history of Lafarge in 2014.
The same Lafarge moved from N8.00 in 2006 to to over N130 within 8 years.
Started going down due to high debt incurred when they bought an overpriced cement company in South Africa.
Reason why it is important to monitor the financial health of the companies you invest in and also rebalance your portfolios Did you buy into the Lafarge Nigeria or SA? Was the Lafarge in SA a subsidiary of Lafarge Nigeria? I know they both belong to the same Lafarge Group. Just wondering how the SA investment affected the Nigeria operations so much to the point of starting to go down as a result of high debts in the SA investment |

simpleseyi: The State Assemblies under the grip of the evil State Governors rejected the Local Government Autonomy, but the god of Politics and Strategy showed them whom the boss is, he pulled the rug under their feet and set free the Local Governments. So the god of Politics and Strategy Emilokan Asiwaju Jagaban does not need their support to pass the Tax Bills. Whether you like it or not, he will sign the Bills into LAW. He sent it to the National Assembly just to give you something to discuss, he doesn’t need anybody’s approval.
He could sign a Presidential Order and make the Laws without the National Assembly You are definitely ignorant. No law can be passed without the National Assembly. It is rather the National Assembly that can make laws and veto then into action without the president's signature. Stop wallowing in deception and delusion because of you blinded support for for a cleat clueless and incompetent president. |

If I believe all these as dead end, I won't touch any company in Nigeria with my money nor be on this platform/thread to glean information on the best place to position. Despite them, my NSE portfolio increased greatly, much better than the LSE and NASDAQ within the same period even with the FX fluctuations. Where do you see bulls of 300% to 1200% in several companies within a short time? Don't mix the issues. The performance of stocks on NGX is not the making of this clueless Tinubu govt. Infact the NGX would have performed better if not for the Tinubu govt that has made many companies to record huge losses in the last one and half years. So don't confuse the two issues. We all are using the NGX as a means to make something for ourselves in spite of the difficulties |

ghm: Oga, This is not a thread to express political sentiments but to analyse how government policies or lack of it, government actions and inactions affect investments so that we can act and take positions.
For example, in the US and UK where the governments are not clueless, incompetent and useless, the stock markets do experience similar things just like we see it in 9ja. . Please you are free to believe this clueless, incompetent government at your own peril. It is your choice. They say they are for ''free market economy'', whatever that nonsense means to them. Governments in developing nations are supposed to take deliberate, targeted decisions to intervene in key areas of the economy to achieve desired results for the benefits of citizens and eliminate or reduce poverty. A government's attitude, pedigree, antecedents, integrity or lack thereof forms part of their policy credibility and policy appraisal. A president that would announce a major policy decision like subsidy removal on his inauguration day when there was no cabinet in place, no ministers, no industry or stakeholder engagement, etc. to provide some guidance on the procedure or methodology etc. A government that woke up one day, without any meaningful stakeholder consultation or engagement and devalued the currency from about N650/USD to N1400 /1USD. A government that promised Labour and gave them assurance that fuel price would not be increased if they accepted N70,000 as minimum wage, but a few days later deceived them and increased fuel price from N600 to N1000. A govt that woke up on day and imposed astronomical increases in electricity tariff on citizens without any consultation etc. A government that woke up one day, without any citizen engagement and changed the national anthem as if it is the personal copyright of the president. This government takes bizarre actions before it seeks for advice or informed opinion. Such a government cannot be trusted on anything. You are free to trust them though, if they catch your fancy. Tinubu's government is the worst government in this Republic! You can believe the lies that the CBN and Fin Minister tell you |

Sunrisepebble: It's the refinery news I want. That's the only thing I can see sending the price to N100+. I don't really see why companies issue bonus shares sha but unless its a 2 for 1 kind of bonus issue, not a great news Lol. You want Oando to reach N100 fast fast. You be long throat oo. That foreign refinery would cause serious controversy for Oando.... because of the situation with our oil refineries and the issue about how NNPC acquired OVH etc. Left to me, I would prefer Oando stays out of any refinery matter until after the clueless Tinubu is no more in power, so that the controversies would be minimal. |

Episode22: Hello Nairalanders, I'm not here to brag, I just need advice before I get lost.
I have two relatives living abroad (UK), both are from my mothers side, same father and same mother...
Just few days ago, I was called and told that they are making plans to send me to the UK early next year to go and stay with my uncle and find something doing there... they already communicated with my uncle abroad, and they just wanted to surprise me.
I'm 29 years old now, I graduated from school last two years as a petroleum engineering. Though, I'm not doing any work for now. My girlfriend is pregnant for me, and I have not disclosed it to anybody yet.
But the truth is that my mind doesn't want to go, I'm not ready and I have told them. They have already started telling me this is a one time opportunity, and that if I miss it, I won't see it again, but I have made up my mind that I don't want to go.
I just can't leave my friends here, I just don't know but I can't..
I need advice,
Why should I go, when my self and my mind is not ready... I don't blame you. A graduate of Petroleum Engineering. Your are jobless, yet your dick is very strong enough that you could impregnate your girlfriend while still living with your mother. Apparently, your mother is alive and probably doing well, feeding you and your girlfriend. Just imagine a situation whereby you no longer have any family support here, how would you take care of your girlfriend and the child? Sometimes, experience is the best teacher. Dont allow a bitter experience be your teacher before you make a good decision. My Advice; Discuss with your girlfriend, let her and your mother know your situation and then travel to the UK. You can then come back and pick her when you settle. Your mother can always help to take care of the child while you are in UK. If you miss this opportunity.......! |

There may not be any significant price gains until few days to the AGM, if at all. At this time, Christmas/New Year budget needs to be catered for, first before any other thing. Again the ratio/percentage of the bonus was not disclosed, hence investors would thread cautiously. |

They will report Lafarge leaving but will be silent about the chinese company coming in. As far as NG is concerned, there is really no loss of value.
Multinational Corporations are extremely large and reshuffles their portfolio from time to time just as mutual funds rebalance their funds by selling shares of a company to buy more of another. Everything is just a line in their reports and it is very easy for them to do. Truth be told, Tinubu has truly destroyed and messed up Nigeria's economy. |

DyshApp: A young Nigerian man shares his frustration over an awkward first date experience with a lady who ordered herself food, neglecting him.
In an anonymous post to popular social media influencer @wizarab10, he recounted how the lady’s actions left him feeling overlooked.
The man revealed that the woman paid for her transportation and clothing expenses for the outing, which he appreciated. However, things took a surprising turn when she ordered food only for herself during the date.
“I went on a date with a girl, our very first date and she paid for her clothings and transport. When we got there, we spoke for over an hour and she was listening though. Then, she suddenly called the waiter and ordered meat pie and ice cream for herself and she was eating and listening to me. Isn’t that callous? She didn’t even ask me whether I’m hungry, she just ate, listened and replied me,” he wrote.
He concluded the post by asking followers for advice on whether he should continue pursuing the relationship, humorously adding, “Should I fling?” What is this supposed to mean ? Are you supposed to pay for the clothings that a lady wears to meet you on a date? |
