iwaeda:What if the new owners form a cartel or oligopoly and decide to sell fuel at astronomically high prices like N2,000+ per liter? How would people survive. |
yMcy56:I am beginning to feel and suspect that this sustained rally for Oando shares may be partly due to some positive news in the HY2024 financials which is due for release in September, or they are planning to raise more funds through public offer (I may be wrong though). |
megawealth01:Please make the detail analysis so we all can learn and benefit from it. It may be useful and applicable to other scenarios or stocks in the future This is why I still appreciate someone like Bovali for the transparency in her detailed analysis of Oando's historic financial performance. Her analysis could have helped a lot of people. I disagreed with her only on the idea of limiting investment appraisals to only past financial ratios whilst totally ignoring significant (or major) post balance sheet events that could potentially impact future prospects, performance and earnings of the company. The struggle to make some wealth, the NGX and life itself will not end even if Oando is no more in existence (delisted), so we should not let the controversies about Oando stifle us out of anything that could be of benefit to people, generally. |
Raider76:It is not necessarily hyping. It is a new era in the oil and gas upstream (onshore) sector where local firms seem to be building some muscle to step in and fill the gaps being left behind by multinational oil companies who are divesting and leaving Nigeria onshore sector due to the numerous community crises, insecurity, oil theft etc. The Mobil-Seplat, Total-Aradel, ENI-Oando, Equinor-Chappal, Shell-Renaissance Group deals are just the few ones in the limelight for now. |
designking:If so, then why sell Oand now ? |
designking:If so, then why sell Oando now ? |
designking:That is arbitrage on display a la Oando! |
designking:Why don't you give your friend some money to buy the same Oando for you at N16 per share, then you transfer to your stocks account and sell at N69.95? Don't you like to make more profits? |
designking:Is your friend's claim that he bought Oando today at N16 the reason why you expect Oando to pull back soon? |
KarlTom:We thank God. Oando don ''cast'' from N10 to N69.9. It will still ''cast'' more. |
designking:Why always Oando? (apologies to Balotelli). Eterna oil is also rising and riding along Oando? |
cocolacec:Ah! You wan scatter there! I know Oando will rival the prices of Seplat, Aradel etc. in due course but I don't know how soon. If there are good financial results for FY2024, then the current price jump can be sustained for 2025 and we see what happens beyond. |
megawealth01:I get it! |
megawealth01:I get it! The rich, well made up guys don't change mind easily. |
megawealth01:Your fears may be legitimate, but I thought you could have bought a few more units to see how far things would go, and then sell off at this time and make some good cash. Wale has had rough battles with SEC in recent past, leading to suspension, court cases and the eventual settlement out of court. I doubt if he would have the guts to start another funny scheme or shenanigans where he will have the SEC to contend with once more. The higher the price of Oando gets, the more difficult and unrealistic it becomes for him to delist. Any attempt to delist means that he would pay the highest price in 6 months prior to the AGM. The actual financial performance may be a different thing all together, but the power plants and oil blocks from the ENI deal are very huge! |
megawealth01:You are right, though I was able to key into Oando this time around because of the experience I got from missing some golden opportunities in the past when I watched BCC (later Dangote) Cement, WAPCO, FBNH stagnate at around N4-N5 for prolonged periods because of some challenges and restructuring they were going through. The same stocks were later turned around (after the lengthy period of stagnation) and they all clocked N70 and above when they eventually stabilized. That is why I entered Oando at around N5 and decided to bear the worst case price (risk) of N7.07 or stay put and make the biggest gain possible if the company is able to turn the corner for good! I just hope the gain will receive some support, at least and stay within a reasonable range |
ProphetUtuocha:As a ''Prophet'' your focus should be how to fulfill the ''vision'' and ''mission'' that the ''Almighty'' has bestowed on you! You should not be too bothered about how people treat or react to you or your prophecies! No Prophet has ever been honoured at home by his people! It happened to Moses; it happened to John the Baptist; it happened to Jesus Christ' it also happened to TB Joshua! A Prophet is not necessarily sent to ALL people; he is sent to only those who would believe in his ministry and be blessed by it. I am one of the people that took your prophecies about Oando very seriously, and I am glad I did! |
cocolacec:People seem to have some sort of feelings against Oando! When other stocks were returning their 1000% price gains in short spells, we did not hear things like MMM! |
megawealth01:He who feels it knows where it pinches! Do you really mean it? That knowingly and consciously watching a stock like Oando move from N8 to N70, and possibly N100 within a few weeks, is not a miss? You must be really what your moniker says..... mega wealthy! |
Ojuntana:The bottom line is that no one is deliberately delaying or frustrating any deal between Mobil and Seplat to favour the ENI-Oando transaction, contrary to the impression and rumours being peddled around! If credible newspapers report are captioned ''SEPLAT acquires Mobil onshore assets'', or ''Mobil sells onshore assets to SEPLAT'', anyone can refer that the sale has taken place. It can only take a regulator like NUPRC to give clarity on why the deal might have had issues. NUPRC has also confirmed that EQUINOR has also sold its onshore assets to CHAPPAL ENERGIES, which is owned by a Nigerian from South-East. Was that approval also fast-tracked to favour an Igbo man to the detriment of Mobil-SEPLAT deal? Oando is also a legitimate business enterprise, and it is disingenuous to always tie every milestone they achieve to the familial link between Wale and Bola Tinubu. After all, they bought over the assets of Conoco Phillips for $1.5b in 2014 when Tinubu was nowhere around the presidency. At the end of the day, ENI-Oando and Mobil-Seplat deals were not initiated or submitted on the same date, so I don't understand the hasty and baseless comparison on approval timelines. |
Deefirm:The Mobil-Seplat deal has delayed because there was a case in court which was just recently resolved out of court. The ENI-Oando deal was also pending at a point in time because there are processes to follow. Or do you expect a multi-billion dollar contract that is very critical to the nation's economy to be initiated and signed within a week or month? These things usually take months and even years to conclude |

Which Nigerian assets did Atiku sell to himself? I am talking of facts, not allegations of lies that were manufactured by Obasanjo's govt and rivals to score cheap political points. I am not in support of Atiku on this Oando matter, because he seems to be fishing for any possible wrong doing in this matter to score a political point. Tinubu's govt. is also totally useless, corrupt and clueless with bad policies. But Oando is a corporate organization that has been in existence sine early 2000s, and the same company acquired the assets of American oil and gas company ConocoPhillips for $1.5b in 2014. Was that accelerated by Tinubu too? Are Nigerian companies not expected to achieve any milestones at all? The same people saying that Dangote Refinery should be encouraged because it is a Nigerian investment in Nigeria are the same people complaining that Oando, another Nigerian entity, is being encouraged. |
Kukutenla:1. Now you are telling lies, boldly! Which evidence of fraud against Atiku has been reported and documented by US Congress and State Department.? Mention the case and give references. 2. SEC suspended Oando for breaches of SEC rules and non-compliance of corporate governance. Different companies have been fined or suspended when they contravene regulatory rules. It is civil matter and different from fraud which is criminal matter. . 3. You lied when you said it is Tinubu that twisted made it possible for Oando to acquire ENI-NAOC with the $800m 4. If it does not make sense to you, go and ask them to provide you answers. It may not make sense to you because you may not have the capacity to understand for now, until you get more answers and education on the matter. It is totally irrelevant and meaningless for you to say it a fraud just because it does not make sense to you. When you mention ''fraud'', your must bring evidence! |
Kukutenla:Controversies are not same as evidence. And Atiku is not Court of law. Atiku himself has numerous controversies of fraud and corruption around him, and I have equally defended him by saying that there is no concrete or verifiable evidence against him to date When you accuse someone of fraud, the next thing you do is to provide evidence. I keep an open mind. My mind is not cast like concrete against anyone. Oando is just a company owned by Tinubu's nephew. You cannot lie against Oando just because you hate Tinubu |
Kukutenla:Yes. You are very correct. Very Perfect. I may be confused. But my head is surely in the right place. God can bless you to be rich like anyone of them; God can also bless me to be rich like anyone of them. Stop talking as if you know the end from the beginning. You don't know it all, so be circumspect in your utterances. You have no evidence of fraud, so you cannot say that fraud has been committed. And if fraud has been committed, you know where to go: EFCC or ICPC or you write to the Italian govt or to the board of Afreximbank. For now, your accusations against Oando, NNPC, Wale Tinubu, Bola Tinubu etc are all baseless |
Kukutenla:Okay. You are correct. Very correct. Very perfect. My defence of Oando here is useless. Your accusations here against Oando too are also useless! Case closed. You and I should both go and work hard and become rich like Wale Tinubu, Bola Tinubu, Peter Obi, Atiku and Mele Kyari. |
Kukutenla:Okay. I agree with you. You are right, Very right. Very perfect. Go and do the following so that you can deal with Oando and NNPC very well! Go and file a petition against them to EFCC and ICPC so that Wale Tinubu, Bola Tinubu and Mele Kyari can all go to jail! Then you will be very happy with yourself, your party or your tribe people. You noise here is totally useless! |
IGBOPROMISE1:Stop being a tribal bigot and stick to objective facts! Truth is, SEPLAT bought the assets of Exxon Mobil under the Tinubu govt. Do you think all the management and staff working in SEPLAT are Igbo or all the management and staff working in Oando are Yoruba? Is that how you think so myopically with no depth? Oando was already operating a JV with ENI(AGIP) and NNPC. The sharing formula was Oando 20%; ENI 20% and NNPC 60%. (Oando had acquired the 20% when they bought the assets of Conoco Phillips in 2014). So it was natural for Oando to offer to buy ENI's 20% when ENI decided to leave the onshore sector because of the various crises in the sector due to oil theft, riots in Niger Delta etc. That is why Oando's new ratio in the new JV becomes 40%. By the way, the Igbos in SEPLAT or the Yoruba in Oando are not necessarily the best or the worst in the oil and gas sector. Every company goes through different phases in their lifecycle, so don't come here to paint the picture as some people are better than others in management. Companies owned or managed by Igbo or Yoruba people can experience problems, and fail or recover at anytime. Stop being tribal and shallow in your thoughts! |
Kukutenla:Ignorant noise maker! The JV partners all give advance cash calls to NNPC at different points in time in history. Oando not the first and will not be the last. If you never knew about it in the past, it is because you were not in the sector or industry. Stop being fixated with Afreximbank loan and talking like an illiterate. Oando can operate an account with Afreximbank and still obtain a loan from them. So they may have a normal account with some money and jthen borrow the $800m just for the AGIP transaction which will be in a separate loan account. And they can advance their $500m loan to NNPC through their own normal account domiciled at Afreximbank or adopt the processes for granting international loans through a bank that acts as witness or facilitator, especially if Nigeria (CBN or NNPC) has an account at Afreximbank. Or do you expect Oando to carry $500m cash to give NNPC? |
Kukutenla:Stop killing yourself because of Oando. Oando now receives almost all its revenues in US dollars because they now sell crude oil to international customers; that is why they were able to give $500m payment in advance to NNPCL. They are now significant JV partners to NNPC In 2014 when Oando bought Conocco Phillips, they were still operating in the downstream sector selling refined petroleum at filling stations and receiving payments naira; they were not significant JV partners to NNPC so there would be no need to give such loan to NNPC. Please learn and educate yourself about the transactions that happen in the oil and gas JV arrangements before you say things that are not true and draw wrong conclusions. |
