It is just that we are not used to taking problems to universities. We prefer churches. If you take any problem to a university and you have money, they will turn it into a research and solve it. If all the monies being spent in churches are spent on research then the country would be different.
Look at what you are saying. Money being spevt in Churches are private money of members and they can spend it anyhow they are pleased with.
Instead of you to talk about the reckless and irresponsible expenditure,, waste and corruption by govt you are rather talking about churches.
Sensible governements all over the world spend more than 25% of their national budget on education. Our own govts (past and present) have failed to do that and you are here shifting blame to churches.

Tuface seems to be a weak man and a fool.
I remember how he was seen in his new wife's house while his former wife was battling with depression and instability after their breakup
And his brother warned him about this Natasha, telling him it was too early for him to go into another relationship.
Always having issues, from London to Abuja to everywhere

Nigeria's national income is $20bn per year? See why we might need to make quality university education free? grin

On a more serious note: One of our biggest developmental challenges is low productivity. Upskilling the population should be a national priority if we want to become a medium-income country, so if that means free or heavily subsidized post-secondary education -- especially technical education (high-skilled welders, builders, electricians, IT technicians, nurses, etc) -- then that's what we should be doing.
You are right .
But even the low productivity is mostly due to poor infrastructure like power, transportation, high cost of doing business etc.
A country where some university lectureres have to use their own personal generator to power their office gadgets and electronics inside campus during working hours .
What meaningful research do we expect can be done in such environment?
Yet our political class are budgeting huge allowances for themselves

Many people forget the man was in Nigeria working as a treasurer in Mobil when he received a call from the IRS and he answered the questions and travelled to the USA for this case.
The person pushing the drugs got arrested but his relative who sent Tinubu part of his drug money and was Tinubu’s family friend was not arrested.
What about the primary and secondary education records of the president?
Maybe the person that was traveling to bring the cetrtificates also had an accident and died?
What excuse do we make again? It's so unfornate.

But let's face NGX here and make some money.

If the bank remains super profitable, I don't think Ote$ will want to sell.
Unless he goes into oil and gas (upstream), I don't see any business that would give him better returns and prestige thank banking.
Dangote his friend is already in other sectors (cement, refinery, FMCG etc.) so he would not want to go into competition with him

The UGAZ crew will want to meet up the 60% dividend payout ratio and that will shoot up their prices too.

If I talk now, them go talk say I dey derail.

When the leader of a country cannot be truthful with basic info and file his educational credentials genuinely, correctly and in good faith, such a country lacks the moral grounds to expect citizens to file taxes correctly.
Citizens learn and borrow a leaf from leaders!

Early morning yet, please!

This tax thing is simple na.
At the end of the year, those who want to pay the tax will collect a form, fill it, and go pay their CGT money to the govt. Simple.

Let anybody come and ask me for anything. and see whether they would get sishi from me.

There was a time when Firstholdco was virtually tantamount to a ''failure'', at a time they were having some restructuring challenges, share price was stagnating at N3-N4 and dividend was not forthcoming.
The turnaround was something bound to happen at some point but shareholders do not have the patience because we do not know what Management was planning ahead.
Bottom line: no situation is permanent in a company's life; everything is a phase

Hi
ppogba:
Oga Sir, so all of a sudden, the dividend that FBNH pays will become a yardstick or parameter for the industry?

Mba nu!

All these years that FBNH were paying Kulikuli and Akara money, nobody hold Dem for cloth. Besides, banks like GT and Zenith I believe always have their policy on ground concerning that. For oga Elumelu, I doubt if he can be stampeded even if FBNH spends their entire profit and borrow from World Bank to pay dividend.
Having a dividend payout policy brings some certainty so shareholders would be sure of the minimum dividend they will be receiving at the end of the year.
Just imagine FBNH declaring an EPS of N20 by Q3, that means a minimum of N12 dividend!
This will influence UGAZ to pay same or higher ratio. A standard is being set gradually

Nigeria is also susceptible to terrorist groups from the Middle East and North Africa. Didn't the Americans kill an ISIS commander in Sambisa? Risks are everywhere and most international companies take this into account before they embark on a venture.
If risks are everywhere, does that mean one should dismiss, ignore and never be concerned about such risks?
A risk can only be dealt with when its existence is acknowledged and steps are taken to address it.
I only prayed and wished that nothing untoward happens to the refinery

I don't get your drift. Do you prefer nobody talks about such risks at all?

Well, Kenya is a country while Lagos is a city. The comparison should be between Kenya and Nigeria as countries. We can then compare the number of terrorist related incidences and death.
You may have a look at the atrocities committed by Al-Shabab in Kenya.
And the geographical proximity of Kenya to terrorist-prone countries like Sudan, Somalia, and the Indian ocean etc. should give you better clarity on my concerns/fears.

Below is AI response to my enquiry:

Al-Shabaab views Kenya as a primary target due to Kenya's military involvement in Somalia. The group frequently conducts cross-border raids, ambushes, and improvised explosive device (IED) attacks, heavily concentrating its activities in Kenya's northeastern and coastal border regions like Mandera, Garissa, and Lamu counties

There are terrorists in Nigeria, have they attacked the Lagos refinery? For all I know the Lagos refinery was terrorized more by the government, the oil sector unions and the importers. There may be similar challenges in East Africa, but to lesser degree.
I don't want to compare Kenya and Lagos in terms of terrorist attacks.
But I know terror groups like Al-Shabbab have carried out deadly terror attacks in places like Mombasa and Nairobi in the past.
I just pray nothing like such happens to the refinery.

If you doubt, you may search in google and see.
